It's been so much fun to see this small family-owned business thrive and grow, first with their new location in Des Peres and now with another coming to St. Charles! As a small business owner myself, I appreciate when they're super-busy with pre-Thanksgiving crowds and one of the owners walks through the door, drops his coat and jumps in to help. That's him in the middle. I still order the pan fried chicken or pork soup dumplings plus an order of "spicy wonton," $4.75. I used to order "spicy wonton noodle," $8.25, which has a few more wontons, all served on a bed of rice noodles. Some time ago, though, they changed those noodles on the bottom and they're not as tender and delicate as the old ones. While in St. Louis, I knew I wanted to eat somewhere that offered food unavailable to me in my hometown. Having never tried xiaolongbao, Tiger Soup Dumplings seemed a natural choice! This small restaurant is located in a very large shopping center. The sign is a little hard to see but when you enter you're greeted with a clean and simple interior with friendly faces and a focused menu. They do pan fried or steamed dumplings (pork, chicken, beef, or shrimp filling), with cucumber salad or broccoli as a side option. I think they might also have boba and fruit tea but given I'd already made a boba trip that day I didn't order any. My husband and I ordered steamed beef and pan fried chicken dumplings to share, plus cucumber salad. The employee gave good recommendations on which meat went best with each cooking style. Our food came out quickly. I enjoyed everything we ordered. The cucumber salad needed a little bit more oomph but it was nothing some of the chili oil on the table couldn't fix. My favorite was the steamed beef dumplings. They were super rich and savory. The chicken dumpling wasn't quite as crispy as I'd expected and the broth almost had a slightly sweet quality to it. It was good, just a little different than what I expected. I'm very glad I got to try these dumplings! This wasn't a super gigantic or hugely filling meal so I'd probably order one extra side (the broccoli looked great and I kinda wish my husband had sided with me on ordering it, lol) just to round things out if I returned. Service is just OK...you order at the cashier stand (not friendly, but not terrible) and then they give you a number and bring your food to your table. Get the golden broccoli! Garlicky, salty and so fresh! The cucumber salad is also an excellent side dish with a lovely marinade. For vegetarians, the crispy sesame noodles are a great main dish with a great peanut sauce. For meat eaters, the pan fried chicken dumplings or beef dumplings are flavorful and have a nice crisp exterior. I also recommend the coconut milk strawberry boba. It is a traditional brown sugar boba tea but with fresh strawberries muddled into the tea. So refreshing! The staff was helpful in describing the dishes and was quite friendly. This was my first time eating soup dumplings. Counter staff was very helpful recommending I try steamed dumplings first vs fried. I ordered steamed chicken dumplings to go. They included soy sauce, some type of vinegar (oil?) and chop sticks. I at them with my hands because I felt I would have better luck. The dumplings were soft and moist inside. The chicken was bland. I tried with both the soy sauce and the mystery vinegary stuff. I like the later best. Good, but I don't think this is my thing. I've been wanting to try this spot for a while now, and I was finally able to stop by Sunday night for a 1st visit to get take out. Parking was plentiful and the place was easy to get to within the Gravois Bluffs shopping complex. Inside was sparse, with simple tables and chairs, and typical, fun soup dumpling graphics on the wall. I did like that there was a glass window so you could see the kitchen staff working on the food. I always appreciate being able to observe the food being made when restaurants are set up to allow for that. Staff were friendly and timely in bringing my boba drink and then dumplings as soon as they were done. YES! Boba! I was excited to see that! I didn't realize they had that. So it was a super nice surprise to also order that treat! I got a strawberry coconut drink with regular boba, which was good to sip on while waiting for my order. I got steamed pork and steamed chicken dumplings. The pork was my favorite! They were both pretty good. I believe they would have been fantastic if I'd eaten them in house vs getting take out and driving 15 minutes. I also got an order of cucumbers. Those were fantastic! Made with fresh, flattened / muddled cucumbers and sesame oil, vinegar, soy, and not sure what else, but they were delicious! Would absolutely recommend them! If you haven't tried soup dumplings, this is seriously the best place to try them. The menu is small, but the flavors are so big. We started with the cucumber salad, sesame noodles, and spicy wontons. The spicy wontons were my favorite with a great heat to them as someone who love spicy food. For our meal, we got a steamed beef and pork soup dumpling and a pan fried pork dumpling. Personally, I loved the steamed dumplings because of how much soup there was in them. Ah-mazing!!! Wanted to go back less than an hour after leaving. We got the pan fried chicken dumplings and the spicy pork wontons. Both equally tasty and some of the best I've had. The broth is savory and flavorful, everything is obviously fresh and cooked with quality ingredients. The wait took a while but worth it, ambiance is fresh and light but not very welcoming. I wish there were more drink options and popping boba would be a great addition to the menu. There is a window to watch fresh dumplings being made, which I love. My daughter got the fancy mango tea, it was good to me but she didnt like the hard bits that were included. I also heard other customers commenting that their smoothies were not mixed well. One short search on Google and voila, I came across Tiger Soup Dumplings. After looking at the food menu I knew this was going to be the next spot I tried. So glad I got to try this place! Ordered online while in Des Peres at Trader Joe's bc I was nearby the Manchester location and when it went through, it switched the location to Fenton. I called to switch it back and they said Manchester was closed, so was a bit frustrating, BUT only 14 minutes from Fenton so I went there to pick up and it was WORTH IT. I got the beef soup dumplings, cucumber salad and the spicy wontons (less spicy) based on reviews saying they are very spicy and they were right. Everything was super fresh and sooo good. Wow. I was really impressed. And rarely am I impressed. It's in a newer shopping center and easy to find. There's a parking lot but only like 4 spots with direct view of the restaurant. I was stuck between beef or pork xiaolong bao. The cashier told me pork was more popular but that he liked beef better. I would have ordered pork had he not told me so thank you. What I think the menu lacks are ingredients, ie chives, mushrooms, etc. This brings me to my point: I'm pretty sure the beef soup doubling had truffle oil, had I known that, I probably wouldn't be stuck btw pork and beef bc I love truffle. I chose beef and was glad I did, the truffle was a nice surprise. The chili wontons were pork, so I got the best of both. I really can't wait to come back again. The inside seems kind of cold, and they have outlets and bench seating. They just need some touches to warm it up. There's even a window so you can watch them make the dumplings. Soup dumplings are a fun concept. You bite the top off and then either drink or spoon the broth out of the dumpling before eating the rest of the dumpling. The staff is friendly and the food is novel. It's a little hard to get to since it is in that island of retail they build when they split Manchester Dr and the seating is tight but if you are looking for a new culinary experience this should be a must do at least once. 4 star food 2 star location. read more

Love their dumplings! Seriously, I am so glad this place is so close to where I live because I can see myself visiting often. Ordering at the counter is quick and efficient. They give you a number for your table and then you wait for your order to be delivered. Everything comes out piping hot and tasty delicious. I have tried both the steamed and friend dumplings and enjoy them both equally. I also really enjoyed the tiger fruit tea - def a must try! The only complaint I have is that they do not offer any reusable plates or cups, everything must go in the trash which is concerning to me - not very eco-friendly. Is the food good? Yes, absolutely! Had a good experience here at Tiger Soup Dumplings. There's two places that we searched for that solely sold soup dumplings. The other place didn't sell pan fried soup dumplings, so we chose this place for the extra option. Though it was a bit on the pricier side, the meal was satisfying and we got exactly what we were looking for. We ordered multiple pork soup dumplings, the spicy wonton, and some pan fried soup dumplings. We ordered the most steamed soup dumplings because that is what we basically came for and were expecting (and what my kids love the most), but ended up loving the pan fried soup dumplings the best. I'd come back to get more of these! The soup dumplings were good too, but I think the skin could be slightly thinner (if I were to compare to other places we love). The spicy wontons were good too! The staff was nice, the decor was cute and modern. One let down was that they don't offer free water, just $1 for water bottles. Still cheap and a decent price for that, but with a big (and thirsty) family, we don't really enjoy purchasing water when we could get it for free usually. read more

I have heard of this place but never got a chance to check it out until today. It is a quick food ordering and service type of thing. You go to the register and order the food and drinks. Then they will give you a number and they will bring your food and drinks you ordered to you. There is an area where you will find disposable plates, spoons, napkins and chopsticks. There are several tables to pick from for seatings. After finished eating then you will throw your trash away. We got the chicken, two beef and shrimp and cheese steam dumplings. They taste pretty good. We also got the chicken fried dumpling, which I forgot to take a picture of. For me, my personal preference is the steam dumplings over the fried ones, plus it is cheaper and gives greater eating experience. read more

The teas were each about $6, which feels a bit high for the amount you get, but they were all tasty, with bits of fruit in them. There is a window into the kitchen where you can see dumplings in progress and a wall mural that shows the dumpling eating instructions. Food and drinks come out as they are ready. Our table ordered quite a few dishes and shared. Cucumber salad: cold, crunchy, delicious Golden Briccoli: order this if you love garlic! There is lots of it Spicy wontons: like the wontons in wonton soup but extra spicy. And delicious Pan fried pork dumplings: remind me a little of a pot sticker. I've dined in and carried out at Tiger Soup Dumplings several times. I do love they have a south county location. I did online ordering today for lunch and was able to pick up right away. Pork soup dumplings is a little too sweet compared to the ones I had at Soup Dumpling STL although the broth is pretty juicy. My most fav dish from here is spicy wontons. I recommend if you love some kick order extra spicy. It's perfect for Thai lady like me! I also love that it's highly affordable. Staffs aren't as friendly. It gives you of chinese chains vibe rather than homey mom and pop shop. The inside is always nice and clean and you can see staffs making xiaolongbaos. read more

I've never had any soup dumplings as good as these, even in Taiwan, or at Din Tai Fung, or traditional Chinese restaurants. The pan fried pork soup dumplings are by far my favorite, (I wouldn't recommend the other meats) and the cucumber salad is so good I save the sauce just to put more cucumbers in it at home to have more. The rest of the menu is also amazing, like peanut noodles, everything. And the drinks are phenomenal, pretty pricey but definitely worth it. There are instructions on the wall on how to eat it, (which Id recommend following for sure) and the inside is cute and clean. The servers are nice and charming and I've never had any problems with the service. The food comes fairly quick and it's amazing every single time without fail. First timer! I would like to preface that I love dumplings SO much that when I first tried them when I was 7yo, I wrote a song about how much I love them.
