Interior & window to watch them make soup dumplings!
Christina C.

Really great soup dumplings and I also very much enjoy their cucumber salad, and teas. Service is just OK...you order at the cashier stand (not friendly, but not terrible) and then they give you a number and bring your food to your table. You get your own utensils & napkins, and buss your own table when you are done.

Get the golden broccoli! Garlicky, salty and so fresh! The cucumber salad is also an excellent side dish with a lovely marinade. For vegetarians, the crispy sesame noodles are a great main dish with a great peanut sauce. For meat eaters, the pan fried chicken dumplings or beef dumplings are flavorful and have a nice crisp exterior. I also recommend the coconut milk strawberry boba. It is a traditional brown sugar boba tea but with fresh strawberries muddled into the tea. So refreshing! The staff was helpful in describing the dishes and was quite friendly. There are about 10 tables for eat-in and you can watch the dumplings being made through a glass window. So fun!

Steamed Chicken Dumpling (to go)

This was my first time eating soup dumplings. Counter staff was very helpful recommending I try steamed dumplings first vs fried. I ordered steamed chicken dumplings to go. They included soy sauce, some type of vinegar (oil?) and chop sticks. I at them with my hands because I felt I would have better luck. The dumplings were soft and moist inside. The chicken was bland. I tried with both the soy sauce and the mystery vinegary stuff. I like the later best. Good, but I don't think this is my thing. They also had a few side dishes and both fruit and boba teas on menu.

We ordered pork soup dumpling, chicken fried dumpling and spicy wonton to dine in. The food was very delicious, especially the spicy wonton but the soy sauce and vinegar bottles on the table were really dirty. Sticky and yucky to touch..

Cucumbers - very good!

I've been wanting to try this spot for a while now, and I was finally able to stop by Sunday night for a 1st visit to get take out. Parking was plentiful and the place was easy to get to within the Gravois Bluffs shopping complex. Inside was sparse, with simple tables and chairs, and typical, fun soup dumpling graphics on the wall. I did like that there was a glass window so you could see the kitchen staff working on the food. I always appreciate being able to observe the food being made when restaurants are set up to allow for that. Staff were friendly and timely in bringing my boba drink and then dumplings as soon as they were done. YES! Boba! I was excited to see that! I didn't realize they had that. So it was a super nice surprise to also order that treat! I got a strawberry coconut drink with regular boba, which was good to sip on while waiting for my order. I got steamed pork and steamed chicken dumplings. The pork was my favorite! They were both pretty good. I believe they would have been fantastic if I'd eaten them in house vs getting take out and driving 15 minutes. I also got an order of cucumbers. Those were fantastic! Made with fresh, flattened / muddled cucumbers and sesame oil, vinegar, soy, and not sure what else, but they were delicious! Would absolutely recommend them! Moral of this story for me: my long 15 minute drive for take out was not my best decision for nice, hot dumplings, but I still really enjoyed the food and would definitely go back! Overall, really good visit with 4 stars!

I tried some soup dumplings while traveling to Ohio and I fell in love with them, ever since then I knew I had to find something similar in St. Louis. One short search on Google and voila, I came across Tiger Soup Dumplings. After looking at the food menu I knew this was going to be the next spot I tried. I tried the pork soup dumplings and they had a great flavor. While in the restaurant you're able to see the cooks creating the handmade dumplings in real time! The only downside to the restaurant is that the seating area is pretty small and there may be a low chance of getting a table during the dinner rush.

I've only been here once but I already cannot wait to go back!! They're counter serve and located in a strip mall in the Gravois Bluffs area of Fenton. We started off with the cucumber salad, which was fresh and delicious, I also added some of the chili crisp they had on each of the tables. We also got the creamy sesame noodle (served warm), that was incredible. Such good flavor and fresh noodles. Loved it so much. Onto the soup dumplings! We tried both the steamed and pan fried dumplings. Honestly I couldn't tell the difference between the pork and chicken, but the flavor on both was amazing. So much warm soup packed into those cute little dumplings! The steamed ones had the edge over pan fried for me personally, but both were so good. I really enjoyed it here! I also got the peach dragon fruit tea - I really loved it. Can't wait to go back and try the Des Peres location! There's a little window where you can see them making and assembling the soup dumplings, so cool to see the process and love that it's all made fresh daily

Cucumber salad, shrimp and cheese, pork :steamed and fried. Spicy wonton (almost gone) .

Food: Pork( my favorite!) : steamed and fried; shrimp and cheese, spicy wonton, cucumber salad (a must!! Very refreshing). The broth for the pork is a little sweet for my taste but I enjoyed it anyway. Tea: loved both flavors I've tried. The mango and the tiger tea.

The food is the star here- don't expect much in the way of ambiance. It's really just excellent made fresh fast food. We had golden broccoli which is broccoli with garlic sauce, steamed and fried pork dumplings. Wanted to try chicken or beef too but we were too full. Next time. (Is tomorrow too soon?) so enjoyed each item. The flavors were great. The gal who took our order was super nice and helpful- it was only her 4th day on the job! Wait for food is pretty short too.

So glad I got to try this place! Ordered online while in Des Peres at Trader Joe's bc I was nearby the Manchester location and when it went through, it switched the location to Fenton. I called to switch it back and they said Manchester was closed, so was a bit frustrating, BUT only 14 minutes from Fenton so I went there to pick up and it was WORTH IT. I got the beef soup dumplings, cucumber salad and the spicy wontons (less spicy) based on reviews saying they are very spicy and they were right. Everything was super fresh and sooo good. The beef was perfectly tender and loved the soup dumplings experience. They were super busy too but I Will definitely go back to try more.

Wow. I was really impressed. And rarely am I impressed. It's in a newer shopping center and easy to find. There's a parking lot but only like 4 spots with direct view of the restaurant. I was stuck between beef or pork xiaolong bao. The cashier told me pork was more popular but that he liked beef better. I would have ordered pork had he not told me so thank you. What I think the menu lacks are ingredients, ie chives, mushrooms, etc. This brings me to my point: I'm pretty sure the beef soup doubling had truffle oil, had I known that, I probably wouldn't be stuck btw pork and beef bc I love truffle. I chose beef and was glad I did, the truffle was a nice surprise. The chili wontons were pork, so I got the best of both. I really can't wait to come back again. The inside seems kind of cold, and they have outlets and bench seating. They just need some touches to warm it up. There's even a window so you can watch them make the dumplings. I gave 4 stars only bc I'm not a fan of paper plates and disposable utensils. Also bc the menu (on the wall atleast) didn't show ingredients. And they charged for water bc they only have water bottles. Everything else was good.

I haven't really had a bad experience with tiger soup dumplings! It has become a Sunday treat after a long week of work. Whether I eat it in house or take it to go to eat at a local park the taste is amazing.

Soup dumplings are a fun concept. You bite the top off and then either drink or spoon the broth out of the dumpling before eating the rest of the dumpling. The staff is friendly and the food is novel. It's a little hard to get to since it is in that island of retail they build when they split Manchester Dr and the seating is tight but if you are looking for a new culinary experience this should be a must do at least once. 4 star food 2 star location.

The restaurant itself is cozy and simple, but don't let the size fool you--this place is focused on serving very good food. The highlight of the visit was the soup dumplings, which arrived in a bamboo steamer basket. The dumplings were tender and delicate, and each one was filled with rich consommé (soup) and flavorful meat. When you bite into them, be careful because the dumplings are full of hot broth that bursts out. The soup inside was packed with flavor and made the dumplings stand out. The sandwiches were also excellent. Whether you choose the pork or the beef, the bread was perfectly crunchy and the meat inside was very flavorful. It made for a great balance of texture with the crispy bread and tender meat. Another dish that really stood out was the mashed cucumber salad with hot pepper oil. It was fresh, slightly spicy, and very refreshing alongside the dumplings and sandwiches. Overall, Fan's Soup Dumplings feels like a hidden gem in St. Charles. It's a small restaurant that focuses on doing a few dishes very well, and the quality of the food really shows. Overall: A small but very good restaurant serving authentic soup dumplings, excellent sandwiches, and flavorful sides. They had some calming music playing and the dining area was clean and serene, as I remembered from before. Soup dumplings are their specialty, which I tried in the past--they are delicious, and I don't know of many places that offer them in the STL/St Charles areas. That said, I tried the chili oil wontons and shrimp dumplings this time. I could probably skip the shrimp next visit, but the chili oil wontons are TO DIE FOR. DO NOT SKIP THEM!! I chose pork as my filling, but they offer beef and chicken as well. For a VERY reasonable price, you get enough in one order to easily have a pretty solid lunch. They are tender and the filling ratio is spot on. The chili oil broth could stand on its own, in my opinion. It isn't overly spicy, but they offer chili crisp at your table, which I happily added to up my spice level. Do yourself a favor and try them, you won't be disappointed. I will continue to eat my way through their menu undoubtedly, but these will be a MUST for every single visit, in my book!

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.

NOTHING WAS HOT the noodles and rice where above room temperature but that's about it, everything was way below room temperature despite just being put on the buffet and had the appearance of steaming hot (was just water under the trays steaming) The ribs where bland and unflavorful, the chicken was overcooked and bland, nothing was relatively good Went over to the hibachi to get some actually fresh and warm food, there was no one there so I rang the bell, waited for 5 minutes nothing, went and asked if there was someone for the hibachi, they said just ring the bell, went back and rang it again and waited for about 5 minutes for no one to show up (no one did) finally gave up on trying to get something to eat Got the check and went to talk to the manager lady upfront only to be laughed at by her and the server because "sushi supposed to be cold" tried to explain it was still frozen only got laughed at and ignored, she was beyond rude and ignorant and completely ignored the fact everything else is cold and no one is actually running the hibachi, she could care less and just ignores you and when she does listen just laughs at you, complete psycho behavior Worst food I have ever gotten, been coming here every year for the last 5-6 years for my birthday and this year was disgusting Drove an hour and a half, left hungry and disappointed, this was dinner too so I can't imagine how bad lunch is.
