Kathy is truly amazing, had the best deluxe pedicure of my life and she slayed my gel manicure. She is thorough, meticulous, and very conscious of health concerns and safety, for example she has signs posted to let her know if you have diabetes or thin blood so she can make adjustments and take extra precautions. read more

The best nail service provider ever! I'm a regular customer for over six years... that says something! I am very picky and Cathy always does a great job on my french tips. Straight and neat, just the way I like it. Pedicures here are the best! Both my big toes were ingrown and had fungus and Cathy meticulously groomed them and nail fungus is gone and toe nails are healthy again. I am so happy. Thank you Cathy. read more

Oh my gosh, Kathy saved my nails! I was out of town and had a full set. They were awful. Uneven, polish was a mess and you could see how/where the acrylic was uneven. Then I had my first fill at another shop and they didn't fix but just made them thicker. Kathy fixed them! They looked beautiful and they were thin, smooth and the gel polish was perfect! I've been goin there ever since. Kathy is answer woman and she takes care of her clients. Her mom does pedicures and I love when she does mine. Very relaxing when she's done and my toes always look great! My recommendation is five stars. read more

I booked a mani/pedi the same day and not only were they able to fit me in, but they stayed open 30 minute later to make sure it was a perfect. I had such a great experience. While I wasn't sure what I wanted, as soon as I found a design on Pinterest she was able to do it -- no questions asked! I will be back without question. Thank you! read more

I love this salon. It is a small place and very clean. Service is excellent and my old feet look perfectly pretty with polish and flowers. I got gel this time and both hands and feet are still looking good after over two weeks. Lovely people. Thoroughly recommend. read more

This was my first time in the shop and got a mani/pedi. They were so nice and very sweet. They did a great job. Definitely returning.

Cute, clean, and cozy nail salon! Kathy did an adorable French tip design with gel. She was very careful and detail oriented. I was treated with kindness and respect. Highly recommend this local salon! read more

Kathy does the best manicures and pedicures I've had. She's meticulous, but works efficiently, so no unnecessary waiting time. She's been giving me beautiful gel nails for several months now, and doesn't do the acetone soak when she refreshes them, leaving my nails strong and my fingers healthy. She's always friendly, and a pleasure to chat with. Her mom is lovely too, and is there weekends to help out with pedicures. I can highly recommend Kathy and Fancy Nails. Make an appointment because it's a small salon. She does her best to accommodate everyone, but you'll be guaranteed a wonderful experience if you call ahead. read more

The pedicure was okay, but the polish really was bad. I waited 24 hours to put on shoes and it still got messed up. That's old polish.

very happy to find this place when I moved here. Kathy is fast and good with Fills. I do wish in this economy that folks would NOT make an appointment with her then not show up! That is a double loss and waste of her time. read more

I have been meaning to write this review since October, and now, after multiple return visits, I can tell you, Fancy Nails is THE BEST! I have always had nail problems. Or rather, I have always been my nails' problem. I've picked at them whenever there was even a hint of a rough edge. Which was always. Couldn't stop myself. So, I've always had very short nails. But then along came Fancy Nails!! Kathy and Lisa are amazing. They are magicians. For the first time in my almost 60 years of life, I have beautiful fingernails. It's unbelievable! Kathy sprinkles pixie dust, I'm telling you. She put gel on my nails and they grew and grew and grew. For the first time in my life, my nails actually grew so long that I decided to ask her to cut them a bit shorter so that I can still text without too much difficulty. I've tried many different nail salons during the years I've lived on the Peninsula--Los Altos, Palo Alto, Redwood City, Menlo Park, San Carlos, and San Mateo. Some are better than others, but at best, the gel would last 2-3 days before I'd picked most of it off. I was in Half Moon Bay this fall and wanted a facial, so I scheduled one and a gel pedicure at Fancy Nails. The facial was great (I'll write a review about that later), so I asked whether Kathy could also do a gel manicure while Lisa did my gel pedicure. I hadn't had gel on my nails in about 6 years. Oh. My. Word. That's how it happened. Kathy is brilliant. Her method makes them beautiful and makes them last and last. I can go a full 3 weeks with them! Unheard of, for me. Last but by no means the least: I've had painful pedis in the past, but Lisa's the best! She was very careful and gentle, and I left Fancy Nails that first time feeling so relieved and grateful. Thanks to her skill, too, they look gorgeous each time I go back, and I'm still proud to show my toes for weeks after each pedi. I never want to go anywhere else, now that I've met Kathy and Lisa. You two are amazing artists, and the Bay Area is so lucky to have you both here. read more

While on a romantic getaway, I broke my nail. I called up fancy nails and they were available to see me within the hour. They were also available to give my husband a pedicure as I got my nails fixed. The ladies were so wonderful, so sweet, and so helpful. We decided to takeoff my old set of nails and replace them with a fresh new set and they were absolutely gorgeous. I live nearly two hours away but I am considering making a day trip to go get my fill next month. read more

Been going here for years and have always received quality work and friendly service. Kathy and her mom are open again and after a year of being closed from the pandemic they still have the most positive energy and friendly service. I got the pampered pedicure and it was AMAZING!!! They have great COVID-19 protection up, limit their capacity, and are both vaccinated. Try them out you will love it. Make sure if you can't keep you appt to cancel in advance. They only allow limited capacity for Covid safety and if you don't show they lose the business for your slot that day. read more

Came here last minute before a wedding. My mom and I both got mani pedi gel manicures. My mom started way before me and finished way after me. My service was quick and lacking quality. No cleaning under my finger or toe nails. No scrubbing. She wasn't even going to massage until I realized she was not giving me all the service my mom was getting from her nail tech. I only got a 1 minute leg massage after I mentioned it ( she basically just rubbed the lotion there was no actual massage). No hand massage. It was very rushed. Didn't use any cuticle oil just soaked my nails for a few minutes. The total for the service was $85 which is very high for that kind of low quality service. I handed her a $100 bill and she assumed my change of $15 was her tip. Left very disappointed and annoyed. They are nice ladies though. read more

Fancy Nail is a tiny shop, but not a bad place for a pedicure. They only have two spa pedi chairs and about three tables for working on hands. The shop is clean, and the women working here are nice. Prices are decent. I wouldn't say this is the best spot on the coast for a pedicure (to be fair, maybe there just ISN'T one here that's very good), but it's good enough. It's been about two weeks since I had my nails done and the polish hasn't chipped yet! read more

I've been going here for a while now and I'm not usually one for writing reviews but I feel that I have to write one for this place. I am just amazed at their attention to detail. Recently I had decided to take off my fake nails and I was expecting to have them ripped off(that's what happened at other places I've been to). They took the time and soaked them off. It took longer and they had to file some of the acrylic off and then have me soak some more and do that all over again, but it was definitely nicer to my nails and it did not hurt!!! The ladies here are very nice and accomodating. I would definitly recommend this place. read more

I've been going to Fancy Nail for years. Kathy and her Mom just recently took over for Ann, who is missed. But tonite I had a "Pampered Pedicure" all I can say is WOW!!! It was AWESOME. Organic Tangerine salt scrub on my calves then a minty mud mask with a hot towel wrap. A foot massage then a hot wax treatment on my feet with a calf massage. Then a precise nail polish application. Thank you Ladies!!!! See you in 2 weeks, if not sooner. BTW, Kathy does a fantastic job on my nails as well. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I got my acrylic nails done there which was extremely painful and then they kept messing up the polish so they added more and more coats and then forgot which type of top coat to use so they ended up putting the matte on top of the gloss which made it lumpy and ugly. DO NOT GO read more

Best salon in Half Moon Bay! Kathy and her mom do a GrREAT job! The gel I get lasts fot over two weeks! She will even sell you matching polish to fill in when it grows out. They never leave you waiting while fitting someone else in and go back and forth! Once I saw a tired young mother trying to get her nails done with a baby crying. Kathy sang a Vietnamese lullaby and quieted the baby right down! I read the other reviews and cant believe someone would care if they use peanut packing for between the toes! Reuse recycle. Good for them! And if you want a massage go to Cloud Nine. They do nails here and do a great job! read more

It's true that the mani/pedi is not as good as a spa mani/pedi, but I think they do a good job. I've been there many times over the years, and it's a nice family business. After just a few times visiting, Ann (the owner) knew my name, and she remembers details about things you've told her. They're very quick, clean, and the price is good. If you say you're in a hurry, they'll get your mani and pedi done simultaneously. Frequently I mess up the polish while it's drying, and they come to the rescue every time and fix it immediately. I believe the sign says "please pay tips separately", but I don't remember it being cash only. Maybe it's implied. But I can see how they would like it separate. Frequently, one girl will do your toes, and another one you hands, so it makes sense that they might like to be tipped individually and not pool their tips (I mean seriously...if I had to deal with people's ugly feet instead of their hands, I would expect a bigger tip!) Anyway, I wouldn't call it "shady". I wish they would spend more time treating the rough spots on my feet, but maybe since I have to grit my teeth to not jerk my feet from the tickle response, they take it easy on me :) Anyway, I just happened upon these reviews because I was searching to find their hours so I can pop in and get a quick mani/pedi. I feel like these reviews are a little harsh, so I wanted to quickly write something on their behalf. Now...I better call to see if Ann can squeeze me in (they usually do!) read more
