A few years ago I changed pharmacies from San Mateo CVS to Walgreens on third avenue due to bad service. Now I am finding the same bad quality of service or "don't care attitude" at Walgreens. I had a very difficult and frustrating experience at this Walgreens Pharmacy, where I was helped by George. From the very beginning, his attitude was curt and dismissive. I mentioned that I had received a call yesterday saying my medicine would be ready by the end of the day and that I was hoping to get an update. His response was something along the lines of, "So you're here for a pickup?" in a tone that felt unnecessarily rude. I tried to brush it off and continue, but things only got worse. George told me I had already picked up the medication, which I had not. When I clarified, he said I must be referring to another prescription I'd previously picked up. I explained that this was for a completely different medication, but he insisted they were the same, which they were not. It felt like he either didn't want to listen or didn't care enough to check. Then he repeatedly insisted that I needed to show my physical insurance card, even though I'm a regular customer and my information has always been on file. I eventually drove home to get the card, only to return and be told that I now needed to call my insurance company because my information "didn't match." After calling my insurance company while another pharmacist assisted him, we discovered that George had been entering my health plan ID number into the RX ID field, which was causing the issue. Finally, after all of that, he told me to come back in 30 minutes when my medication would be ready. I understand that mistakes happen, we're all human, but what made this experience so unpleasant was the complete lack of grace, courtesy, or accountability. The entire interaction felt as though I was being blamed for errors that weren't mine, and even after it became clear the mistake was on his end, there was no apology or acknowledgment. Mind you, I was ironically correct to have started the interaction with a request for an update as it turned out my medication what not in fact ready for pickup. This experience left me feeling disrespected and exhausted. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously, as kindness and good communication go a long way, especially in healthcare. read more

I went to Walgreens this morning to look for toothbrushes. They wanted $26 for five toothbrushes. Think about that for a minute $26 for five toothbrushes? That is outrageous and it's price gouging in my opinion. Then they offer you seven dollars off if you give them your phone number to sell to all. I'll go to Costco. read more

I'm deeply disappointed with the unprofessional and disrespectful treatment my mother has consistently received from GEORGE at Walgreens in Third Avenue. On multiple occasions, he has refused to provide her with her prescribed medication, claiming there's no prescription on file--even when we've confirmed it on the Walgreens App, we've gotten automated text messages and automated calls letting us know it's ready. What's most upsetting is his attitude toward my mother's English. Instead of being patient and understanding, he's dismissive and repeatedly states that he 'can't understand her,' which feels disrespectful and discriminatory. It's unacceptable for a healthcare professional to treat customers, especially non-native English speakers, this way. Very odd every other pharmacist can understand her. She has even gone in with her license, her birthday and name written down and he still says she has no prescriptions. I have had to personally go into Walgreens to get her medication. It's always been there. I talked to another older Hispanic lady in line and she said she gets the same treatment from him. Discrimination is disgusting GEORGE! We trust pharmacies to provide both medication and compassionate care. Unfortunately, George falls short of these expectations. So disappointed. Customer service here is terrible. I came to pick up some photos but was greeted with bad behavior. My photos were misplaced and not printed with the quantity that I paid for. Obviously not my fault. Crystal refused to look at my online receipt that shows I ordered 6 photos as they only handed me ONE. She had attitude from the beginning, maybe she's tired? I don't know. But she left me hanging and walked away!!!!!!! Luckily the photo manager was able to print the photos I paid for in less than one minute. I go here all the time and never had any issues. Just take accountability for the error and print out what I paid for. No need for the attitude and leave me hanging. Very disappointed. I did talk to the assistant manager and she said she'll address the issue. But from all the reviews I'm seeing on here, looks like I'm not the only one dissatisfied. The staff at the pharmacy have always been helpful with filling my prescriptions and answering questions. It may be tough to reach them on the phone sometimes but I understand that they may be short staffed or already committed to helping others onsite. If I could give 0 stars for the pharmacy I would. They advertise free vaccines shots for 3+. We schedule for our kids and ourselves. Find out first after booking 2 weeks out they don't have covid shots for kids with no notice to us. Then they review our insurance and say it is not contracted to them and cannot give us the shots that now we scheduled in advance. With no bedside or caring manner and when asking to speak to a manager about their clearly printed flu and Covid free signs with no mention of this requirement we asked to speak with a manager. they said not a single pharmacy or store manager is in the store at 4:40 to talk to and nothing they can do for us and brushed us off as fast as possible. The worst pharmacy experience I've ever had? TL;DR: The pharmacists have no problems lying to your face. I needed to transfer a prescription from this Walgreens to another pharmacy. The other pharmacy told me that this Walgreens never answers their phones. I went to this Walgreens to ask them for a good time for the other pharmacy to call, and they said any time during business hours. So I called the other pharmacy and asked them to call now while I was in this Walgreens. Here's where it gets good. My partner scheduled a covid-19 vaccine online when the Walgreens website said that this location had covid-19 vaccinations available. She got there on time with her family member that needed it, and when asked if there was any vaccinations available, they said no. They didn't offer any explanations or alternatives, just said no they don't have it and sorry. Why is the website not updated if there are no vaccinations available? My partner made an appointment, received a confirmation text, email, everything and here we are, wasted time going here only to find out there is none...Walgreens, please get your stuff together. Also, I've been going to this location monthly to get my Caltrains monthly pass for my Clipper Card, and 2 months in a row, the Clipper Card machine is down. No notifications or warnings of when it will be fixed. Customer service is non-existent when informing you as well. It's a nonchalant, I don't care, sort of attitude. I don't know what has happened to this store. I remember it being friendly and amicable. Nowadays, I feel everyone is giving you the cold shoulder and is reluctant to help out. About a month ago I moved all my prescriptions from Rite aide at Laurelwood to Walgreens on 3rd Street in San Mateo. From the start I had issues. They tried to charge me for prescriptions I had never had to pay for. They tried to charge me $300 for prescriptions I didn't request to be refilled. Then I got on the phone with a pharmacist that was horribly rude to me and told me he couldn't find my prescription and refused to look it up because I knew the name of the medicine but not the prescription number, which was the reason I asked to talk to the pharmacist in the first place. Then the pharmacist got angry and cut me off my slamming the phone down. Today I tried to contact the pharmacist to refill my Bacofen which the pharmacy refused to refill and told me I'd have to wait two weeks to refill. This is my main muscle relaxer and I've spent two weeks in pain. So I've called the pharmacy three times and each time I keep getting put on hold, then it rings, and I'm put on hold again and after three times of this they actually hung up on me. I called two more times and got the same bullshit. This is ridiculous and rude. I was never treated like this at Riteaid. This is just wrong. Period. read more

I would avoid going to this Walgreens unless it's a dire emergency. I picked up some Gas-X and lactase pills and the total was like $40. Extremely overpriced! I needed the Gas-X pills due to some questionable lunch choices anyway but I was a bit shocked that a 48 count chewable pack would be $18.99 .... A quick check at the CVS website says it's around $9 or so. Amazon is about $12 or so. I bought the Walgreens brand lactase pills, 60 count for $16.99 .... A quick check on Walgreens.com says this is $9.99 ?! Even if I did store pickup to the exact same store it still says it should be $9.99! What the heck! I know online prices and store prices vary but that's ridiculous that I could order pickup at the same store and have it be that much cheaper. Lesson learned, I guess! read more

Trust the terrible reviews this Walgreen has. If I could give negative stars they'd be -100. DO NOT ORDER ANY PRINTS FROM THIS LOCATION. I ordered a 24" x 36" poster from them and it was cut off. I picked it up during the weekday and didn't check the print until the weekend when I needed the poster - because it was already rolled up and packaged nicely. IT WAS CUT OFF. For refunds, the policy is to go back to the location - so I did. And not only was the manager so rude, even with proof he didn't want to refund me. This location has terrible customer service. When a prescription requires a phone call, it takes too many calls and too long to get the pharmacy on the phone. Today they booked and confirmed online and let me check in at the pharmacy for an appointment for a vaccine my doctor recommended. Then they told me they me they have changed their guidelines and will not give the vaccine to someone under a certain age. They had no explanation for why they had confirmed the appointment or were not allowing me to get a vaccine my doctor recommended and which the cdc says I can have. Was on hold for 2 hours for the pharmacy. After 1 hour and hearing the recording tell me "we will be right with you, there are 2 calls ahead of you". I decided to call on a 2nd line. I was given the same fake message there too. So, at 4pm I called and the pharmacy closes at 6pm. Guess what happened to both of my calls at 6pm? I was hung up on!! There is No excuse for this. This review is solely for the pharmacy. I only use this because it is close to my house. The cashiers here are never friendly. The actual pharmacist is nice and helpful but you only talk to him if you have a question on your medication. If something goes wrong with your insurance on file, good luck getting an explanation why or any sympathy from the cashiers. If you have their message system, be prepared to be called everyday by your new best friend: the Walgreens automated message system. They will literally call you every day until you pick up your prescription. Sometimes the messages are also inaccurate. I've had a message to pick up my prescription but then the pharmacy doesn't have anything for me. I've had a message to refill a prescription but the problem actually is that I need to contact my doctor. This is not the most helpful system. The drive through is the worst part of this pharmacy. The point of a drive through is to DRIVE through it. People will literally park in the drive through and wait for their prescription to be filled. This can take over 20 minutes! What about other people who need the drive through, Walgreens? They need to make people move along if their prescription isn't ready and then drive back though when it is. It can't be easy managing all the prescriptions and insurance programs but after several years coming here, I have found all the people who work here, especially the front line service people, to be incredibly empathetic and try really, really hard to help resolve your issue. When my turn came they said they did not have the appointment information.
