My expectations for drugstores are lower now since the industry is kind of struggling against online and lots of other competitors. So there's less drugstores now and they're not as abundantly staffed anymore. But this Walgreens in Belmont is one of the best. This review is for the Photo services. I recently completed a photo album for my parents' 50th anniversary. It is a shocker to me that there just aren't any more in-person photo services. And yes, I've used Shutterfly which isn't all that amazing to be frank. I wanted to print out my parents' main wedding photo to replace the damaged in the last 50 years. It was done in an hour and it was as good as it could be. I did some more touch ups and reprinted another copy - it's just so convenient, versus having to wait for Shutterfly to mail and pay for shipping. I also printed out photos at a different Walgreens and the photo size was actually not correct. So I plan to reprint the photo at this location. One worker kind of didn't acknowledge me when I came in - it would have been appropriate for her to say, "Hello, someone will be with you in a minute" then yell out, "Harv! A customer is here for you!". Someone did come in about a minute regardless. A different person was working the next morning and she helped me out right away. So regarding the photo service - I recommend using services like this one at Walgreens to ensure that Shutterfly does not become a monopoly and to ensure in-person services stay a thing. Why print photos? Because photos are curated and placed with thought. Towards the end of my deadline, I found I could use a photo taken from an airplane above the clouds and I used it as a full spread. If I had only known, I would have done much more fancier things. Going through albums as a family is another way to get junkies off their screens. Talkin' to you, mom! EDIT: Came back here to print more photos. There's usually a sale, so make sure to check the website and enter the codes before purchasing. It's not the most advanced system, but it works. I'll have to reprint more photos, since the 4x6 is not always compatible with the size on my iphone. But the prices are definitely cheaper even with inflation than printing photos in the 1990s at Walmart. read more

My friend and I were developing her photos yesterday since it was Mothers Day. You can develop a 8×10 photo for free. We submitted an order. We waited to be developed. The lady was like about $5. She wasn't wearing a name tag but I think she was worried I will report her. She was an older Hispanic lady. She told us. We never submit a code before ordering. I told her we did. She said that she had nothing on screen. My friend asked if there is a manager. She is like I am the manager which she wasn't. She saw me getting pissed off since she was denying what I told her. I said fine. I will record everything. She got scared when I said that. She brought in the manager, Carlos. She acted like she knew everything infront of us. I told him, she had no idea at all. She was making out I was being a difficult costumer. I told him. She never said that to us. I shut her down and made myself very clear. That lady backed out and stayed away to let him handle it.. He gave us our copies for free. He mentioned their printing system isn't up to date. If we wanted free printing, we have to download the app. When we were making the photos, it said coupon submit and the cashier can adjust it for you at the counter. I gave an extra star for Carlos. I have tried three times to get help here, and each time I have been treated like a pariah. Today, I called because my usual pharmacy did not have my prescription in stock. When I explained my situation, the staff member asked what medication I was trying to fill. When I said what the medication was, the staff member said that my prescriber had to call them. Unfortunately, Walgreens closed the Belmont location. Why? No idea. It's not as if Walgreens have made record profits throughout the Pandemic or anything. The store has been understaffed and under stocked for months now. Half the time the inventory is still in the red Walgreens shipping bins. The store actually only had two employees manning the entire store. The pharmacy?! Where do I start with the pharmacy? I've used this Walgreens for seven years. I've never before experienced long delays for filling prescriptions, not filling on time according to their own app, not picking up the phone or constantly being out of stock of meds. Once I went to pick up during lunch and there were 16 people in line ahead of me, I tried their "delivery service" and the FedEx guy left my meds at the mailbox where someone promptly stole 2 of 3 medications. This week I said no more and transferred to another pharmacy that delivers to my door and almost over communicates - I am already so much happier. read more

On the plus side, there is a large parking lot. So as much easier to park than at the location downtown. Otherwise it's just a normal Walgreen's. The staff is friendly and they try to be helpful. Came in here last week to pickup a Walgreens online order that was shipped to the store. When I arrived, there was noone manning the photo center where you pickup orders from. So I go into the regular line, maintained my 6' distance both from other customers in line as well as the cashier when I approached, and when I stated that I was there to pick up an online order, was loudly and rudely pointed towards the photo center to "WAIT OVER THERE! I'LL CALL SOMEONE!" When someone finally arrived, the guy was not only NOT wearing a mask, but seemed quite annoyed that he had to break away from whatever he was working on to help me. I've always been of the mentality to kill someone with kindness so I warmly greeted him with a "Hello" and asked how his day was doing. To which I received no reply. When he finally got around to the other side of the counter, he coldly asked what I wanted, to which I informed him that I was there to pickup an online order. The guy stared at me for a few seconds, then very rudely and impatiently asked me what kind of order? I responded that it was an order for shampoo, and before I could finish my sentence, he interrupted me and quite forcefully asked if it was Walgreens.com, photo, etc... After getting my stuff, I still attempted to at least be the one being somewhat civil and stated "thanks". To which the guy replied: "yea...thanks". I understand that these are stressful times that we are ALL going through at the moment, but there is no reason to not even extend even the most basic of customer service to your customers. Thankfully the store was empty so I didn't feel the pressure of a long line and trying out coupons which I know can be tedious. Andreas was super helpful and guiding me through the process, and trying out each coupon with me to see which ones would work and which ones didn't since it was my first time doing this. This particular Walgreens doesn't seem to have anybody working in it. While I go to the downtown San Mateo Walgreens for stellar pharmacy & customer service (Kevin the pharmacist & the Indian man who is the store manager who is always pleasant & attentive), I'd rather come to this Walgreens because it seems better stocked, cleaner, and has much short, less chaotic lines than the downtown San Mateo branch. The only people that seem to be working here are great. The cosmetics counter ladies are helpful and always available to answer any questions and/or check you out. The frontline cashier(s) usually there is only one, but "I see 3" and a second one will pop up, are a bit slow but at least they are friendly and polite. I think that all Walgreen cashiers need to be more aware of their products, their prices, their sales, and how to crossover between advertised/app/online prices and people buying in store. None of them seem to know how to navigate between online and in-person. But like I said, they get a point from me for at least being nice and at least they try (oftentimes, futilely). I believe that this is a corporate-level problem and that the training should come during the hiring process and enforced by the store manager. The rest of the store really seems like a ghost town. Everything valuable is locked up (toothpaste, over the counter meds, batteries, certain hair care products, vitamins, etc), but when you look for someone to unlock it for you, you literally have to spend 10 minutes walking around the store hunting for an associate. Usually, there is not one to be found, so the default goes to asking the cashier or cosmetics counter (who will then ping someone over the intercom), but they are really ssssslllllooooowwwww to even respond to that. The parking lot is terrible and the parking spaces are poorly designed. Getting in/out from the ECR is a PIA too, no direct avenues to get in or out of this lot. The rest of the store is clean, well-stocked, organized, and easy to shop. +1 for cashiers, +1 for cosmetics counter. I don't use the pharmacy here, so I cannot rate that area. But while the downtown San Mateo or downtown Burlingame Walgreens seem to have enough employees, this particular branch seems to operate on about 2-3 at any given time. Good store, but getting in here, finding someone to unlock or find products for you, finding a well-trained cashier to help you get the correct price, and then simply trying to navigate out of the parking lot to leave, makes this Walgreens branch a particularly poor overall experience. The neighborhood around this one is nicer, so the overall store is less chaotic than the downtown one, but the customer service experience here is very lonely and missing. Good store though, it would be better if staffed more as well as trained across the platform. read more

Please Please please increase your pharmacy staff!! The lines are very very long, at least 45 mins each visit. And the hours are too limited for people who work Mon-Friday. I feel so bad for the elderly and injured people waiting without a place to sit. The pharmacy techs seem less trained than before. Can you increase the hours and the number of techs please? This review is strictly for the photo/FedEx department. There is never anyone here so don't expect any service Im in here today to simply drop off a FedEx package. The worker is at the front register talking to the other cashier. After 5 mins or so I ask for help and she tells me to wait and mumbles to the other cashier "they need to be patient". (She's just talking to her coworker) fine whatever I'm not in a hurry. I wait another 5-6 minutes or so. She comes over to the photos and tells me that she can't take my return. She has no tape and the scanner is broken. She could have told me this when I went to the front counter (I had the package with me!!). So yeah. Pharmacy is pretty quick. Time for my flu shot, so called my health care provider and was given an appointment in 2 weeks , but now their vaccination clinic is at their Burlingame location. Just saw an ad for free flu shots at Walgreens , so gave my local store a call and they said no appointment was necessary. We arrive at 1145 and proceed to wait 45 minutes in line before talking to a human and then another 30 minutes before receiving our shots. I'm one of those people who try to follow the CDC guidelines when it comes to COVID-19. I received J&J as my primary and booster shot. My booster was winter 2021. I scheduled my 2nd booster shot at this location and arrived 10 min. before my appt. as recommended by the Walgreens website. I mainly go to this Walgreen's to get my prescription medications. I need to take 5 meds for high bp, high cholesterol, pre diabetes and arthritis so I go at least once a month. I have seen other reviews knocking the pharmacy. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones that haven't had any problems with the staff. There are a few pharmacists there and I don't know all their names but I will speak about Kaylee. She always says hi to me. She's friendly. She takes time to explain the meds. She has helped iron out any possible issues and she knows her job well. Other staff have been friendly to me as well. read more
