On the way home picked up some Chinese bbq pork (char sui) and roast pig to go along with a couple of other dishes. Their Chinese style bbq and roast meats are some of the best tasting on the eastside in my opinion. Saves me a drive into Seattle !!, Service is always cordial, and quick. This is my go to in Issaquah!! Food is always tasty.
Solid and quick spot to get some Chinese food along with some bbq meats. Their pork belly was probably our favorite of the char siu and roast duck. Our toddler thoroughly enjoyed the green beans and beef chow fun. The green beans were probably on the slightly salty side. Nonetheless, it was not crowded and easy spot.
I read some positive feedback about Famous Kitchen in the past. While I was in Issaquah, I decided to dine there. The place looked new-ish in a small plaza; several other restaurants are within sight. I yelp-checked every single one of them. All of them hover at about 3.5 stars, plus/minus some. Hmmm. Anyway, I kept the original plans and entered. They have a Chinese BBQ area that was being cleaned for the night, which makes sense. It was nearly 7pm on a Sunday. The menu had mostly ordinary Cantonese varieties with several less common ingredients like fermented bean curd, salted fish, and bitter melon. Always a good sign. When I fished recommendations from the server requesting good 'uncommon' dishes (and I spoke in Cantonese), he still pointed to the 'normal' dish. Fine, I stayed along those lines, too. The food is alright. The prices are at Eastside level. This place is worthy if you don't want to drive out of Issaquah (to Bellevue or CID). If I wasn't in Issaquah, I would not purposely drive here. The Food: Curry Beef Brisket Rice 咖喱牛腩饭, $17.99 - 3.5 Stars Tender-enough beef brisket and daikon cover a massive amount of rice. The curry is thick and pooled just right. The flavor of the curry met expectations. I wish Chinese restaurants understand it is okay to give an appropriate amount of rice instead of a massive amount to avoid waste. House Special Fried Noodle 招牌炒面/粉, $20.99 - 3.5 Stars This noodle dish surprised me that it is closer to 'soy sauce king chow mein' 豉油皇炒麵 that happens to have additional ingredients. Few restaurants serve it this way. Not a good or bad thing per se. The ingredients tend to heavily absorb the soy sauce, and the flavor profile becomes a bit too uniform. On the contrary, some may find this method more flavorful. Salt &Pepper Chicken Wings 脆皮炸鸡翅, $18.99 - 4 Stars These wings ended up being my favorite dish. They have an excellent crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Good flavor, too. They are closer to 3.5 Stars. Nothing in the overall experience stood out to round up the overall rating.
A great restaurant for the area. Thank you to the owners for brining this style of Chinese BBQ. I'm from the birthplace of American Chinese BBQ cuisine (San Francisco) so there's a lot of scrutiny . The food here warmed my heart since it reminds me of the food I grew up with. Try the Royal Chicken. It's moist and tender. Dip in the traditional oil/ginger/scallion sauce for the full experience. Also order the roast duck. If you are looking for a full and happy belly, here's the place at the restaurant or take out for home. As an American, you will also find the food here familiar and well prepared. The service is quick and courteous. The restaurant is a typical fast food restaurant, but with the family experience. This one was a tough one to rate. On the one hand, I loved the menu and the duo of roast and BBQ pork was one of the better versions I have had in the Seattle area, but it's tough to compare to versions in HK, Singapore or even Vancouver. Of the two versions, the roast pork belly was definitely better, crisp but not dry with a good ratio of fat to meat. The char siu , however, was dry and also not very flavorful. Perhaps some sweet soy or a sauce might have helped? One orders at the counter and the food arrives quickly. The place is clean and there is plenty of parking. So would I come back here? Definitely, if I am in the area. But next time, I'll try some other items even though I love char siu.
Normally eat here for the BBQ meats. Highly recommend! Service - was good, no complaints. Food came out fast. Ambiance - your average bbq spot. There are a couple of spots for dining in. Food - the Bbq meats are good. The roasted pork is perfect. Skin is extra crispy and meat is juicy. The duck was good and flavorful as well. Each dish gives you decent portions. All of this fed six people and had plenty of leftovers to bring home.
Famous Kitchen was great find for a spontaneous lunch stop (8/25/24). Clean interior, welcoming counter person. My two top was literally facing the hot case that held the roast ducks, roast pork, other proteins and plate prep area. Clearly they do brisk takeout and onsite dining. It was fascinating to see the interaction between the meat cutter with an older woman ordering takeout. She had specific requirements and quantities of various proteins. I decided on hot tea and a duo rice plate ($17.99). I selected the roast pork, roast duck with steamed rice, flavorful sauce, and baby bok choy. Wow - this was fantastic! It reminded me of a plate entree I had in Richmond, BC. The meats were so succulent, generous rice, and nicely steamed bok choy. The menu has a variety of other entrees, I just happen to fixate on the roasted meats during this initial visit, lol. I'm still thinking about this lunch. Definitely recommended!
As someone who is Cantonese, I appreciate going to a place on the eastside that has food from one of my home country. Cantonese food is more tough to find as Szechuanese and Taiwanese foods are taking over. But I was fascinated by this place. The sweet and sour chicken has a nice flow of flavor that tasted amazing and the trio was even better. The Char Siu and the duck are spectacular. I will definitely be back to take more of my family here
Having recently moved from Bellevue to the peaceful town of Issaquah, I had to say goodbye to the convenience of Bellevue's vibrant Asian restaurant scene. Luckily, I discovered Famous Kitchen, which offers some of the most delicious Cantonese dishes and roasted meats (duck, pork, chicken). My favorite--the roasted duck--did not disappoint. Unlike other places where the duck is mostly bones, the portions here are very meaty, and the flavor is perfectly balanced--just the right amount of seasoning without being too salty. We've explored several other dishes on the menu, many of which we've never seen or heard of anywhere else. It's definitely a hidden gem, offering a unique and flavorful dining experience.
All right, here's the TLDR: fantastic roast duck here and nothing else stood out. Went for a weirdly timed meal with a few friends on a Saturday around 4 PM and Famous Kitchen was empty besides us, but quite a few people rolled in to pick up to-go orders. The food came out exceptionally fast and there's plenty of parking in the huge shopping plaza they're located in. Signature Duck (4.5/5): Super fatty, moist, savory, and perfect amount of salt (which for this dish is a lot). Outstanding roast duck and the pricing is fairly reasonable. Keep in mind, this isn't Peking style, so it's not the crispy skin type. Roasted Pork (3.25/5): I appreciated how crunchy the skin was, but the actual meat itself was a bit too tough and chewy for my preference. Honey Char Siu (3.75/5): Solid char siu, some pieces that were fatty were really amazing, but others were a tad dry. Flavor was fairly solid with good balance between salty and sweet. Beef Chow Fun (2.75/5): Noodles were overcooked and dish was insanely bland for some reason. Beef was very tender which was great, but couldn't make up for the lack of flavor.
Been craving beef chow fun and this was the best option in Issaquah. It was delicious but a bit heavy on the oil so had to drink a lot of hot tea after. Have had their roast duck before and that was also good. Would like to go back and try other items on their menu. We don't have many Chinese restaurants in Issaquah so if you haven't tried this place it's a great option without having to drive all the way to ID especially when it's so rough down there.
I was drawn in by the high reviews and praises of this place having "the best BBQ" but this is very much not it. Some of the worst Cantonese BBQ I've had. Got takeout and all of the meats were bland. Roast pork was all fat, pretty sure they gave us the low quality end piece (see pic for reference). It's overpriced too. Place was empty when we entered and probably for good reason. Despite it being empty, it took a while to get my order.
Stopped by for a quick dinner pick up. I got roasted crispy pork, bbq cha siu pork and noodle with beef. Truthfully i was excited and had high expectations after reading the other reviews. The service was quick, perfect for a fast dinner. However the dishes were very oily, especially the duck and noodles. I personally will consider other places.
Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the roast duck and BBQ meats, along with fast and friendly service. The space is clean and casual.

Conveniently located near Costco in Issaquah with easy parking. A small restaurant with a few tables open for dining in (very spaced out for social distancing). Food is served very quickly. ROAST PORK was definitely the highlight! It's one of the best in the area. The skin is crispy, but not hard and doesn't hurt your jaw. The lean part of the pork is still soft, tender and moist. I would come back for this for sure! The roast duck was good too! Good balance of meat & skin, yummm. I think we were just too in love with the roast pork though, so the duck didn't stand out as much. Overall, the duo combo portion was pretty good. I would highly recommend this restaurant for Cantonese BBQ. I'm definitely coming back to try more items! read more
When You first look at the menu of Famous Kitchen, it looks a little similar in terms of usual offerings in a similar establishments but they know what they're doing and are good at it... A lot of folks come here for the famous BBQ Duck and Pork offerings. That said their other dishes are equally good. This was the second visit and having tried Chow Mein, General Tso's Chicken and Fried rice earlier, it was time to try the Noodle soup. The bowl may have seemed small had a lot of noodles, Roasted Pork and Bok Choy. The staff asked me if I wanted Hot Oil without even my asking for it which was great... Their service is top notch and the place os squeaky clean. Everyone was super polite and food was delivered quickly and with a smile There's a lot more options that still need to be tasted so will definitely head back there soon. Would definitely recommend as a GOOD place to eat on the east side read more
To start off, I would like to disclose that I DREAM and crave roasted duck/pork CONSTANTLY that it drives my family crazy who is less Cantonese BBQ crazed. My favorite place that COVID has taken away from me is in Richmond BC which we did drive up for more often than I'm proud to admit. Anyways, this place is pretty spectacular. They are SUPER busy, and since I can only come pick up after work 25 minutes away from them, we missed their roasted pork which I hear is 'their thing.' I was very disappointed from that, but the gentleman at the cashier told me they've been increasing production by 25% each day but everyone just loves their roasted pork. Again, great problem. If you've ever had roasted pork that a restaurant warmed up from the previous day, you'll definitely appreciate a place that sells out everyday. Because they didn't have their roasted pork, I had to hide my disappointment and quickly order other items -- I chose beef chow fun, 1/2 a duck, and salt and pepper calamari. I rarely get beef chow fun -- but I saw enough reviews, to think about it enough that I knew I needed some chow fun in my life. The chow fun was SPECTACULAR. Let me explain to you WHY it was. Most often, chow fun is a greasy hot mess of deliciousness that makes you feel a bit queasy if you're sensitive to excess oil -- but you continue on because its so delicious. THIS HAD NO EXCESS OIL. SAY WHAT? YES, I was so excited to have CLEAN Canto food. I mean this is how we would make it at home, and this family does it like they're serving it to their family. NO pooled oil at the bottom. The container was clear and we kept tipping it back and forth seeing if we could unveil secret oil, but NOPE NADA. I mean, usually we decant our chinese food from the to go container to our own plates to remove the oil, but we ate straight out of the to go container. This is a big deal guys, less dishes for the win! Saving the earth! Now, this wasn't the only thing. The vegetables even after a detour and long drive home ~ 45 minutes WERE STILL CRISPY. Goodness their vegetables were still crispy -- al dente! I want to hug their cook. The container it came in had cut out holes to allow excess steam to escape and not muddify their food. Thank you for being thoughtful! Beef was tender too, not too much beef, but it's okay. I had half a duck of protein. Salt and pepper calamari is delicious. Some places try to get away without seasoning at all, but this was seasoned and delicious. Wish they had lots of bits of salted minced garlic on it, but whatever, it was delicious. The roasted duck was very clean. It tasted very very fresh. Fresher ducks have a quality to them that older ducks don't. Older ducks taste a bit funkier and gamier. This duck was carefully taken care of. It was a good duck and we also found it to be less greasy than other places -- I don't know if it just happened to be a more active cardio inclined duck we scored, or if it had to do with the ducks this place procures.. I'lll need to try them a few more times to make my verdict :) The duck would have been better if it was served with the duck marinade sauce and a house made plum sauce. The packaged plum sauce is pretty much high fructose corn syrup so we passed on it. Because of how clean the chow fun was, and because the duck had a fresh taste to it, we're definitely going to be trying this place again for their roasted pork and other canto staple items. Can't wait! Keep it up yall. read more

I ordered 1/2 LB of BBQ pork, 1/2 LB of roast pork and the sweet and sour chicken around 7PM on a Friday evening. The flavors of each order were decent but the quality of meat that I was given was not close to the quality shown in the pictures and other reviews. The BBQ and roast pork were extremely fatty to the point where I left about 70% of the pieces of "meat" behind because it was all fat. I've eaten Chinese BBQ my whole life and this is one of the rare occasions where I did not finish my meal. The sweet and sour chicken was not great. The chicken was extremely soggy even though I consumed it within 5 minutes of picking up the order. I thought it was going to be freshly prepared in the back but it tasted like it was pre fried in the morning and left under a heat lamp for the entire day. Again, this was my experience ordering on a Friday night an hour before close. Hoping to give this place another chance during lunch hour. read more

I was excited to hear about a Chinese BBQ restaurant opening on the east side. After reading through reviews, I decided I needed to try the roasted pork. I ordered takeout and ordered a pound of the roasted pork, the salt and pepper chicken wings, and the Shanghai thick fried noodles. The roasted pork was flavorful but unlike other reviews said, the skin was soggy. It may have been from the steam trapped in the takeout box, but nonetheless, it was disappointing. The chicken wings were also a little soggy but the flavor was good. The Shanghai noodles were chewy and lacked flavor, so I would pass on those. The portion sizes were good but the overall quality wasn't what I was hoping for. The interior is pretty small, so dine in is limited but that may be the best way to enjoy the food. read more
Missing my Canadian and international travels immensely, but Famous Kitchen satisfies that craving with good, wholesome Cantonese food fare! I had been seeing promotions about this place and was finally able to check it out over the weekend. We arrived around 430pm Sunday and there were many hungry guests waiting! Once inside, there are currently 4 4-tops available for dine-in. We're still in the take out camp, so marched right up to place our order. Most of our first visits tend to skew ordering street classics, so we went with Beef Chow Fun ($13.99) and 1 lb. Roasted pork and Cha Siu ($11.99). Star of the 2 was the chow fun - great char flavor on the beef and rice noodles. I was thrilled to see them use the super wide flat rice noodles, not the thinner variety, as it makes a BIG difference! Those just don't hold up as well and absorb the soy sauce flavor. Plenty of white onions and scallions and nicely sliced cuts of beef. Could have used more bean sprouts, and a little less oil. Portion was good for 2 people though! The meats were tasty too, though I agree with others that the roasted pork is a better choice than the cha siu. I think if the cha siu were sliced thinner, it'd bring out the natural flavors better. I'll try specifying next time! Service was great even though they were slammed and still working out the kinks. Be kind to these folks! Covid protocols followed diligently and plenty of space for social distancing. Expect waiting times close to 30 minutes for even the simplest orders. Interiors are no frills but clean. You can see the duck and pork front and center! If that doesn't get your appetite up, then I don't know what will lol! Signage is not fully up yet, so look for the GameStop; it's 2 doors down from it. We look forward to coming back here to try other menu items, and highly recommend their roasted pork and beef chow fun to start! #supportlocal read more

Came back for round 2 a couple days later - don't judge! Order was for 5 people. We called ahead around 12:30 on Sunday and it was PACKED. Duck - 4/5 Simply prepared - which is how we like it. This has a LOT of fat and grease - but it is an expectation when you order duck. The meat is very juicy and we received very little pieces that were just bone. 1/2 duck was enough for five of us as we ordered so many dishes and had food prepared at home. Shanghai style thick fried noodle - 4/5 Well-seasoned was our consensus. Good portion size and proportions of meat, veggies, and noodles. Would order again. Salt & pepper pork chop - 4/5 Great flavor - not too much salt. Would have liked it a little crispier but good overall. Salted fish and chicken fried rice - 4/5 This is not a personal favorite of mine but I will eat it when presented. This was good - I prefer different veggies that other restaurants add in (like KC Seafood's). read more
Had to check out Famous Kitchen in Issaquah during their soft opening since I am a fan of Chinese BBQ. They are conveniently located right off of I-90, which means Eastsiders don't have to cross the bridge for Chinese BBQ in the ID anymore. I tried their honey BBQ pork (char siu), roasted pork, BBQ duck, and shoyu chicken all as a part of rice combos that came with a couple pieces of fresh bok choy and a generous amount of rice. They did it right and added a ladle of sauce over the rice which made it extra flavorful. Having drooled over the IG pics of their roasted pork, BBQ pork, and roasted duck, my expectations were high and I was a little disappointed by how mine turned out, but I lucked out with a large portion of shoyu chicken leg which was delicious -- my grandma would say that they made it with "the good soy sauce". It's still their soft opening phase though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that their product consistency will improve. The unexpected star of the meal was actually the shrimp wonton soup. I skipped the noodles, went straight for wonton and broth, and it was probably the best wonton I had in a long time! The wontons were massive: silky wrapper filled with juicy pork and not one but two shrimp each. And did I mention there were 8 wontons in an order? When you check out this new Eastside spot, you gotta give their wontons a try. read more

When I saw they had ducks hanging in their window I knew they were a must try! I tried their three meat combo with rice, their pork was a bit dry and their duck was heavy on the fat with little meat however, I may have just caught them on a bad day and I will admit it was still tasty. Their chow fun, amazing. Fried squid amazing. I also tried their beef broth noodle, and to me the broth had a really strange smell and taste (almost like a soapy smell and taste?) but I passed it off as maybe I'm just unfamiliar with how authentic that dish is. Overall really good quality food, and let's be honest where else on the east side are you going to find duck!? read more

Solid 3 stars for their bbq. The bbq pork is not exactly HK style but it was half fat and half lean. Taste was good. Wonton noodles was good too. The wonton had a good ratio of shrimp and pork. Finally a bbq place in Issaquah. Order ahead through Yelp and pick up after Costco was great. I gave it an extra star for setting foot in Issaquah . read more

This place is really solid Cantonese deli/BBQ food. We got the trio combo which comes with rice and the beef chow fun and both were good. Both dishes were a little under seasoned which was easily corrected with a little soy sauce. Other than that, everything was great. Check it out. read more

Saw them on several food ig accounts so decided to try and was slightly dissapointed. Had the salted fish fried rice, duck, and walnut shrimp. The rice was good and the shrimp was good but the duck, which is why I went, was mostly just the fatty and bone parts. For 16.00 I would expect a lot better selection. Maybe it was an off day but the duck I get at uwajimaya is way better and better price. read more

Famous kitchen is a solid place when you're craving the meat. We tried the honey char siu, the crispy pork belly, shoyu chicken, and the duck. All were delicious but our favorites were the char siu and pork. We've ordered take out a few times due to covid and limited seating but the one time we ate at the restaurant the pork belly was excellent as the skin was still extra crispy and not soggy due to the takeout boxes steam. Service is always super quick and they are extremely helpful when ordering. They have been very accommodating when we ask for no onions or garlic due to allergies and the food still tastes great. read more
I am so excited that this place opened in Issaquah! I think they still have some supply and soft opening issues to work out but it's very evident that they are popular and the food so far has been perfect. I actually ordered through Yelp /grubhub and it was very easy and seamless. We ordered roast pork, signature duck, shoyu chicken, and seasonal vegetables. After ordering, they called to let me know they were out of the shoyu chicken but could replace with other chicken or the chicken legs so I opted for that. The roast pork was perfectly crispy and all of the food spot on on taste and well cooked. I seriously have never been this excited for a restaurant opening and the convenience it brings as now I don't have to drive to Bellevue or the ID to get my Chinese BBQ fix. I do hope they will figure out the supply issues though as I understand that people will be frustrated if they have to wait a long time or not be able to order what they like. I'm excited to try the congee, noodle soups, and other menu items next! read more

So happy to have some great Chinese food on the east side so close to home. We got the beef chow fun - hit the spot even though it was a little bit more oil than we are used to. The Trio Combo was awesome. They ran out of chicken so we ordered the roast pork, BBQ pork, and roast duck. I loved the roast pork. my wife actually really enjoyed the rice that came with the dish. It had soaked up all the BBQ flavors and was delicious. Finally we ordered some boneless chicken congee. My wife is from Chinatown in NYC and she said that they did a really good job. They also deliver using door dash. Can't wait to try the other stuff next time. read more

I was really excited to have Chinese bbq available in Issaquah. While I found the food I've had tasty on the several visits there, I will not be returning until they improve their food safety rating. It's rated "Okay" and it seems that they have repeat issues with cross contamination and proper heating/cooling. https://kingcounty.gov/depts/health/environmental-health/food-safety/inspection-system/search.aspx#/details/PR0088072 read more

Good food ! I've been meaning to stop by here every time we are in the area and I finally did. I tried their roasted pork and rice , the pork was nice and tender and it was fresh of course. It was nice and fatty and crispy at the top but still very tender, I would totally come back for this ! I also tried their grilled honey pork spare ribs and their grilled BBQ pork. I have to say it was so good , it had the right amount of sweetness I did not feel like the sweetness was over powering. No matter what kind of pork I got they were all really tender and juicy. If you get an item with rice they give you a very good portion of rice I even thought they gave me too much pork for the price but honestly it was worth the price for the amount of pork they had given us , I had to have it the rest the next day ! Upon entering the two men that were working there greeted and helped me out real fast , I honestly walked in and walked right back out thats how quick I got my food , it was all done on time or at least bu the time they estimated it to be done. Not a place you would sit and eat but totally worth stopping by to pick up some to go . Nice job you guys ! I enjoyed every bit of food ! My fiancé got their house special fried noodles , it was good the only mistake she did was not ask for it crispy the picture for that meal was a bit misleading because it shows it being crispy noodle but when she got it , it wasn't the case. But still good , She also got their fish congee and that she just loved ! Thank you guys again ! and we will be stopping by soon hopefully for some more good food ! read more
