Szechuan Chicken
Pat F.

Stopped in for another early lunch while working in the area. This time the owner had not opened it after opening hours but saw me trying to come in. She tried to offer take out and when I asked to eat there she looked at my work boots and up again and agreed that I was worthy. It was odd. I'm quite comfortable in my work clothes doing the craziest shopping and dining but this was a bit much. The Szechuan beef this time was extra spongy from too much baking soda and the fried rice had a weird off putting flavor and really fine in nature like broken rice in Vietnamese cuisine which I dint care for. I love the full grain rice. I think it was leftover since I was their first diner. Otherwise a one wonton cup of soup and decent volume and protein it is just a very average $20 Chinese food lunch after tip that I was at least grateful to get on the hill.

Went to go swim and August Moon was right across the street. A great way to fill our hunger. We were welcomed in and our food came out perfect. I am a fan of Almond Fried Chicken and it's rare to find it done to perfection. Resturant is clean and try out their Long Island tea. Yummy.

Wow! What a gem - amazing hole in the wall Chinese place that gets all five stars. The restaurant itself is very clean and the pink seating booth are so cute! We ordered the $25pp deluxe dinner and got wonton soup (amazing), chow mein, sesame prawns, cashew chicken. A Riesling to drink which was very cold and crisp. Portion were huge and came out quickly and was steaming hot! The owner was talkative and very sweet too. Love this place!

Mongolian Tofu

We love this little restaurant. We always get their takeout twice a month when we don't feel like cooking. Also I took my girlfriends there for lunch in their restaurant a month ago. My friends were impressed and absolutely loved their food. Their fried rice, Mongolian Beef, Mongolian tofu, hot and sour soup are the best. Their appetizers too are yummy. The staff there are very nice, friendly, and attentive yet professional. Thank you Mr Ching for making your customer happy with my food order!

Chicken fried rice

I was impressed with august moon Chinese restaurant! I ordered take out on Christmas and the restaurant seemed VERY popular. I ordered chicken fried rice, Mongolian tofu, Szechwan tofu, spring rolls and a side of white rice. The portions were all very impressive. Even the side of rice was a Togo box packed full of rice. The tofus were both very flavorful, and lots of veggies! The tofu dishes did not come with rice, so I would recommend ordering a side. The quality of food was very good and I really enjoyed all of the tofu. The spring rolls were hands down the best I've ever had. You could hear the crispy crunch as you bit into it and it was perfectly flaky. The inside appeared to just be cabbage, and the cool vegetable nicely offset the fried outside. Dipped in the sweet and sour sauce created the perfect medley of flavors. It also came with a mustard sauce that I didn't try. The chicken was reported to be moist in the fried rice and very flavorful! I did not try it myself (vegetarian) but it looked very good. I also loved the fortune cookies!

Chicken Chow Fun - takeout
Courtney L.

I can only go so long before I start craving one of my favorite noodle dishes.... Chow Fun! On a weekday for lunch, two of us decided to treat ourselves to takeout from August Moon. This modest family-owned restaurant has been operating for years and I was relieved to see them still thriving during this challenging time. When we went to pick up our food, the kitchen staff was keeping busy cooking and customers were actively calling in orders. All promising signs of success! I appreciated the friendly service and they even went the extra mile by sanitizing my credit card after handling it. While not expected, their initiative to do so showed great care for their customers. When we got home and opened the chow fun, we couldn't help but notice how dark it looked. As we expected, it was overly salty, but still tasty otherwise. It had that delicious fresh-off-the-wok flavor, perfect chewy noodles, crisp bean sprouts and tender pieces of chicken. While they could have lightened up on the soy sauce, my craving for chow fun was ultimately fulfilled (for the time being). We also ordered an appetizer of the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings which included half drumettes and half "flats". These were seasoned nicely, balanced between salty and sweet. They were also sprinkled with diced pepper, onion and carrot which added some crunch. Interestingly, the wings are labeled as spicy on the menu, but I thought they were very mild. I'm guessing since we never specified the level of heat (thought they would be spicy by default), perhaps they left ours plain. Next time, I'll request a spice level and see if it makes a difference. August Moon's menu is huge, so I'm looking forward to ordering some of their other dishes. Despite a couple minor snags with the food this time, the service left a lasting impression and I'm eager to give them another try!

Mongolian tofu. I had to ask for more spice as it wasn't.

The space is open, bright and clean. We ordered The black fish fillet slices in pickled cabbage soup- it was very tasty. Huge portion for family style sharing. The tang from the pickled cabbage was very appetizing. It paired well with rice. The fried sliced potatoes with sliced pork and chili dry pot was also very good. Not a whole lot of pork mostly sliced potatoes with very good flavor so I didn't feel like I needed to have more pork. It tasted like the potato slices were deep fried and cooked in flavorful umami garlic and chili sauce. Another dish that's great with steamed rice. We also enjoyed the chewy bean jelly noodles in spicy sauce. It is quite refreshing as there is a nice tang to the spicy sauce. We ended the dinner with brown sugar ice jelly. It has some dried cranberries, a few pieces of tiny mochi, and almond flakes. It was delicious, and not too sweet. We look forward to be back to try the other dishes.

I've come for both lunch and dinner, usually shortly after they open, and never had to wait. Just looking at the crowd, you can tell this is an authentic place. As someone who travels to China frequently, this restaurant definitely meets my expectations. The Hunan-style spicy dishes really satisfy my craving for bold heat and flavor. I've tried the stone pot spicy tofu with meatballs, 梅菜扣肉 (braised pork with preserved vegetables), spicy lamb, stone pot black pepper beef, stinky tofu, and the fried oyster mushrooms. I loved all of them. These are the kind of dishes where you can easily finish a big bowl of rice--and still want more even when your belly is already full. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. Service was prompt, and one small detail really stood out to me: during my first visit, they actually replenished the napkins mid-meal. With spicy food and the inevitable runny nose, that level of thoughtfulness is appreciated!

However,…read moreafter we placed our orders, the space gradually filled with customers which gave us some comfort. The service here was quick, the ambiance casual, and the food is very satisfying! The roast duck was very tender, and the rice and bok choy well cooked and seasoned. The Singapore noodles had a stronger curry flavor than I was used to, and was good. The true surprise was the salted fish chicken with eggplant. I've never had a dish like this before, and the fish smell was a little pungent. However, the taste wasn't fishy at all and had a great umami flavor. The eggplant was also tender and cooked beautifully. This is the type of food that is very comforting and makes me want to eat more even though I'm full! I wish the portions were bigger considering its price point. Of the three dishes, I can only find myself justifying the eggplant to be worth its price because it is so unique. The Singapore noodles and roast duck I believe I can find for a better value elsewhere. Though I won't be a regular customer, this was a nice find with good food!

I read some positive feedback about Famous Kitchen in the past. While I was in Issaquah, I decided…read moreto dine there. The place looked new-ish in a small plaza; several other restaurants are within sight. I yelp-checked every single one of them. All of them hover at about 3.5 stars, plus/minus some. Hmmm. Anyway, I kept the original plans and entered. They have a Chinese BBQ area that was being cleaned for the night, which makes sense. It was nearly 7pm on a Sunday. The menu had mostly ordinary Cantonese varieties with several less common ingredients like fermented bean curd, salted fish, and bitter melon. Always a good sign. When I fished recommendations from the server requesting good 'uncommon' dishes (and I spoke in Cantonese), he still pointed to the 'normal' dish. Fine, I stayed along those lines, too. The food is alright. The prices are at Eastside level. This place is worthy if you don't want to drive out of Issaquah (to Bellevue or CID). If I wasn't in Issaquah, I would not purposely drive here. The Food: Curry Beef Brisket Rice 咖喱牛腩饭, $17.99 - 3.5 Stars Tender-enough beef brisket and daikon cover a massive amount of rice. The curry is thick and pooled just right. The flavor of the curry met expectations. I wish Chinese restaurants understand it is okay to give an appropriate amount of rice instead of a massive amount to avoid waste. House Special Fried Noodle 招牌炒面/粉, $20.99 - 3.5 Stars This noodle dish surprised me that it is closer to 'soy sauce king chow mein' 豉油皇炒麵 that happens to have additional ingredients. Few restaurants serve it this way. Not a good or bad thing per se. The ingredients tend to heavily absorb the soy sauce, and the flavor profile becomes a bit too uniform. On the contrary, some may find this method more flavorful. Salt &Pepper Chicken Wings 脆皮炸鸡翅, $18.99 - 4 Stars These wings ended up being my favorite dish. They have an excellent crispy on the outside, juicy inside. Good flavor, too. They are closer to 3.5 Stars. Nothing in the overall experience stood out to round up the overall rating.

Noodle Nine delivers a genuinely authentic dining experience that feels like stepping into a slice…read moreof everyday Asia rather than a polished, commercialized version of it. From the moment you walk in, the cultural atmosphere stands out--many of the patrons are Asian, and on my visit, a few were even dressed in traditional garments, which added a vibrant, lived-in feel to the space. It's the kind of detail you can't manufacture, and it speaks volumes about the restaurant's credibility within the community. The interior itself is fairly average--nothing particularly modern or upscale--but it doesn't detract from the experience. If anything, it keeps the focus where it belongs: on the food. Service was a bit of a mixed bag. There were only two servers handling the floor, and they were clearly stretched thin. Ordering is done digitally, which helps streamline things, but you can still feel the strain during peak times. That said, the food started arriving quickly--our tofu noodle dish came out almost immediately, while the beef dish lagged behind a bit. Presentation leans traditional in a charming way. The plates and chopsticks have that classic, no-frills aesthetic that complements the overall vibe of the restaurant. Now, let's talk about the food. First, a word of caution: spice levels here are no joke. If you're sensitive to heat, you'll want to dial it down. But if you can handle it, the flavors are absolutely worth it--rich, bold, and deeply satisfying. The tofu was exceptionally soft, almost silky, and clearly freshly prepared. The noodles matched that texture perfectly--tender, well-cooked, and comforting. Pricing is another strong point. For the quality and portion sizes, it's very reasonable, making it an easy spot to revisit without hesitation. Overall, Nine Noodles is a great pick if you're looking for authentic flavors, a culturally immersive atmosphere, and solid value. It's not about fancy decor or polished service--it's about good, honest food. I'd definitely come back.

Stir Fried Green Bean - as a green beans fanatic, my partner was a huge fan of the ones here. She liked these over our usual Canto spot which says a lot. The green beans themselves were fresh and cooked perfectly but the sauce was more flavorful than most. Very savory and lightly salty, not really spicy. Sweet and Sour Chicken - missing the onions and pineapple but a very sizable portion of large, tasty battered chicken paired with juicy and crunchy bell peppers. Shredded Pork with Sweet Bean Sauce - I was attracted by the steamed buns (gua bao), but the pork was tasty. A bit fatty and drenched in a savory, umami bean sauce, a simple carb like rice will help soak up sauce and balance flavors. There aren't enough buns for the meat, but they are a simple carb that balance out the meat and honestly, a refreshing change in flavor and texture.
