When we arrived, they made a big fuss over reservation because the restaurant is small and not a lot of tables, which made us feel bad. They didn't do a good job of table management because they kept some tables unseated while waiting for reservations which came much later, and by that time other tables opened up. Appetizer was either mussel or different varieties of salad. Main course was decent but nothing to write home about. The tiramisu dessert was awful. It was too hard and chewy.

He answered our questions (like the bruschetta is the same size as a pizza, and what certain things, like the penne a la vodka comes with pancetta) and told us the pizza and bruschetta are freshly made. We got there at 6:30 and we understood that since things were freshly made, it will take a while. The arugula on the bruschetta was a different take than my regular bruschetta with basil leaves, but still tasty. It was too much food so next time we won't order an appetizer. The pasta was creamy and had a strong seafood taste. Perfect texture of penne. The pear pizza, with ingredients like honey and pear, I was intrigued and thought it would be sweet. Unlike the honey sesame crust on a maker pizza, I didn't taste any honey. The pear was a very delish addition. Since this pizza had cheese, pear, honey, it did not need tomato sauce - the cheese was creamy and melty inside, kinda like burrata cheese. There was some green thing in it, maybe a herb or very tiny pieces of broccoli. Both the pizza and the pasta were tasty but I think we'd try something else next time We'd be back :)

Grateful I did because the walk-in became absolutely insane right after we were seated. Understanding that they were shortstaffed and not expecting the crowd that they got, we had a great experience. Appreciated that the server knew her wine and recommended something that was great for the three of us. I had the ravioli, and we had two pizzas that we shared as well. The tiramisu, while I found quite heavy, the whipped cream that they used was absolutely delicious!

They allow for you to bring additional decor in for their space. The space itself was so beautiful and we go the patio area with the beautiful hot pink floral decor - this really added to the look of the event already. The staff were so kind to offer up a mimosa cart for us to use, free of charge. The menu that we got was a prix fixe menu that included quite a lot of food, there were a lot of items left over afterwards as well. The menu came with: Rucola E Pera salad 5/5 - Comes with arugula, pear, toasted walnuts, gorgonzola, parm, poppy seed vinaigrette. This was delicious and a great starter. Regina pizza 5/5 - Fresh mozzarella, san marzano, tomato sauce, basil, olive oil. A great pizza starter for the table. Great for sharing. Rigatoni bolognese 5/5 - Loved this as it was so tasty and filling. Comes with slow-cooked veal, pork, beef ragu and grana padano. Poultry pollo al mattone 5/5 - This was HUGE! Came with large pieces of pan roasted chicken breast served with garlic rapini, carrots and smashed potatoes. Dessert 5/5 - Great assortment of desserts that came with cheesecake, tiramisu and apple cake. Overall this space and food was amazing. Would highly recommend coming here for a casual dinner or for an event. Book your event space and menu early in advance!

Had the polpetine which was delicious and decent sized. 4 veal and pork meatballs with a good sauce. Calamari was supposedly a popular dish but it was very small. It tasted fine though. Bruschetta looks like a pizza and was average. RICOTTA CROSTONE was interesting but weird. Looked like a strudel but is a lightly sweet savour appetizer. Different but I wouldn't order it again. BRASATO DI MANZO was nice. Decent sized. Could have a bit more softness in the middle/ sauce. Mashed potatoes underneath were nice. PORTAFORTUNA was sweet and nice.

I had the Quattro Stella, mushrooms, artichoke, prosciutto cotto and olives. My wife, from Rome, went with a white pizza, BORGORICCO. Burrata, zucchini, cherry tomato & mozzarella. It looked amazing, sadly she refused to share but she did rave about it after. Drink wise we kept it simple with a glass of Valpolicella Ripasso and prosecco. For dessert we split a tiramisu. This was more of a sponge cake version, good for what it was. Friendly and knowledgeable service. Prices were fairly standard and acceptable for the quality. Look forward to returning to try some of the other items on their inviting menu. Who am I kidding I'm sure I'll end up having the pizza again, it was that good.

This place gets a solid 4.5/5 for its authentic southern Italian food and very friendly & attentive…read moreservice. It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

Lots of options for shareable apps; excellent options on pizzas and pastas; and I am always impressed with their mains (as someone that has to limit carbs, options can be limited at some Italian restos). They are also understanding of reasonable diet requests. They have gluten-free options as well. There were only a few groups of customers when we arrive, so it was a quiet and relaxed place perfect for chatting. The waitress was friendly as well. The food was with okay but not wowing quality at very reasonable price ($30-$40 per person). For dinner, we ordered Caesar salad and crispy mushroom as appetizers. The salad has very light dressing. The crispy mushroom is flavourful and served with a creamy and spicy sauce. For mains, we tried both the Rigatoni salsiccia and chicken breast pasta. The sausage in Rigatoni salsiccia tastes a bit old and the sauce is spicy. The chicken breast pasta is not bad and is again with lighter flavour. Overall, this is a restaurant I'd consider when I'm looking for simple food and a place good for chatting or spacing out.

Going to work used to involve going south on Bathurst or Dufferin. If I chose to take Bathurst,…read morePaese would be a restaurant that I would pass by. Paese would stick out because going down Bathurst from Vaughan to Allen Rd, there's just no fancy restaurants along the way. For that reason, I've always been curious about Paese. Through coincidence, I had to drop off something to a relative in the area with my older one, which presented me the opportunity to give Paese a try during Summerlicious week. While the value is there purely because of Summerlicious, the quality of food and service is not in sync with the normal prices charged. I'm not saying the service was not polite, but it was definitely not professional enough for a higher end restaurant. I'll share some examples as I go along. The prix fixe courses started with a salmon tartar and my son's deep fried oyster mushroom. Deep fried mushroom is probably not something I would order out, unless it came as a piece from a tempura dish at a Japanese restaurant. I do have to say the mushroom was the best dish out of everything we tried during the evening. The batter was light and although the seasoning was simple, it did its job. Sadly, i couldn't say the same about the vegan lime aioli which tasted like tartar sauce. It just did not pair well with the mushroom. Salmon tartare was disappointing as the taste of capers dominated the whole thing. The whole thing was too sour for my personal taste. Before our starters were done, the server ushered in the main dishes. Why would they do such a thing without asking the patrons? And when the server saw my son's unfinished plate of mushroom, he asked if he can take it away (half of the mushrooms were still there). Wouldn't it make more sense to ask if we are still working on it or whether we preferred it packed away? A critical error that was made was when my son ordered his steak. The server didn't even bother to ask how he would like the steak done. Is it because he's a kid, he doesn't get a choice? Disappointingly the steak came out well done. The salsa verde which we enjoyed salvaged the steak, but I could also tell that they used a significantly inferior piece of meat. The salmon con miele was ok, but it is leaning closer to the overcooked side of the spectrum. There was nothing special about the dish at all. I wouldn't say it would be significantly better than what I can do at home (not that I'm an exceptional cook). Dessert was decent. Nothing jumped off the page. Sticky toffee pudding has never been my cup of tea. So all I can say is, it's too sweet for my liking. The coconut pie is ok. The coconut flavours were mainly engineered from the shredded coconut. All in all, an unmemorable dinner that I definitely wouldn't pay full prices for.
