Curbs is an incredibly professional and high quality business…read more Lucas, Rong, Nilton, and Garrett run an excellent outfit. They personalize service, provide high quality design work, are thoughtful with planning and fit with client style, esthetics, and desires along with consideration of background and setting. I had them provide estimates on a stone patio, custom outdoor kitchen, and some softscape work, and their designs were outstanding. We were able to meet in their studio, go through thoughts, and the plans went through some (minor) revisions over time. They stayed in touch with emails and calls frequently, and their timeline to get started was on time despite some supply chain issues (e.g., were not overcommitted and did not overpromise). The finished product was awesome. My friends and family are so impressed, and it's brought be significant satisfaction. The workers were always considerate, on time, treated my house and property with care, and open to feedback. Their subcontractors, which were few as many were in-house, were excellent, too. I'm surprised how well things went given my experience with construction and renovations in other avenues. When there was some material that was billed as something that would be soft on the feet but wasn't too our liking, they replaced it at their own cost. Their price point is very reasonable for the lux services they provide, as the other Boston Top 10 Landscape Architect and Construction organizations I got quotes from were much more expensive and weren't even as reasonable and attentive! They were able to hold to the original price point fairly closely, with a few increases due to some extra asks on our part, and suggestions for changes that felt to be better design along the way. There was very few to no surprises. I can't recommend them highly enough.

Curbs was a joy to work with on a complete rehaul and redesign of our home's outdoor space,…read moretransforming our brick-and-mulch front and side yards into a beautifully modern deck, sleek outdoor kitchen, and a perfectly- proportioned dining area, complete with new landscaping and hardscaping. It's changed the way we use our outdoor space -- we've been spending so much more time outside! From start to finish, Lucas, Nilton, Roong, and the entire excellent crew were enthusiastic, communicative, responsive, and innovative in their thinking and design; they worked cleanly and efficiently. Not a single question we asked along the way went unanswered, whether by email or text. Their use of sustainable, durable materials was a huge plus for us. And they somehow prepped the project and placed orders to navigate the mid-2022 supply chain disruptions and deliver the project on time and within budget, even accounting for a couple of pivots during the process. Honestly one of the best things to happen to our family and our home - just blown away - we would recommend Curbs without reservation.

Perennial Connection abandoned our job and stopped responding to us…read more John Hod charmed us with his personality at first. We hired him in October 2018 to restore and modify our existing retaining wall. Soon after, he bait and switched us with another contractor, Mike Masciarelli, aka: Randy on Call. To this day I have never met Mike. Mike was supposed to be the "communicator" and "project manager" while John would be the mason. 6 months later the job is less than half done and both John and Mike have been MIA for over two weeks at this point. In fact, there are parts of our existing retaining wall that are in worse shape than before we hired Perennial Connection. John demolished some portions for upgrading and they currently remain demolished because they never returned. Throughout these past 6 months of torture John and Mike would go days - even a week plus - without responding. Then a text would appear: "sorry we'll be there tomorrow" to tide us over. Then they would fail to show up again. John and Mike are also poor at taking direction and/or poor masons. I'm a designer myself so was able to provide very detailed drawings of what we wanted. The little work that they did do wasn't what we spec'd and it was sloppy. The lack of communication and attention to detail is astounding. DO NOT hire these people. They will more than disappoint you. They will torture your mind and steal your money without delivering what they promise.

We had a back porch that was rotting and falling apart and needed to be removed. We also had a hot tub that I thought would complicate things. But when Jose arrived to give us a quote he knew exactly what needed to be done and that's why we hired him. His team deconstructed our porch and made a beautiful patio along with two sets of steps. They also made a support wall to ensure that the steps stay in place. Throughout this whole project, Jose was easily approachable, communicative and friendly. We couldn't be happier with the final product. I will be hiring Jose again for future projects!

Their work is both exceptional and reasonably priced. We have J.Gudiel Landscaping cut and edge our grass, prune our bushes, lay down mulch in the spring, and do a fall clean-up. Our yard always looks neat and beautiful during the spring, summer and fall. Jose and his team are also available to help with other yard work. For instance they were able to fix several sections of our falling vinyl fence, and this is when we couldn't find a company to do the small job. Jose always keeps us informed, and quickly responds to any concerns you may have. And you can tell he takes great pride in his work. You won't be disappointed!

We first became aware of The Narrow Lane through a cold call when we were looking for a landscaper…read morefor our front yard back in the fall of 2024. We contacted a number of companies and it was The Narrow Lane and Jeremy that we seemed to connect with. A couple of months later, right after Thanksgiving, we were the proud owners of a beautifully landscaped yard. I will admit that I was dubious about putting in all those mature plantings at that time of the year but Jeremy assured us that they would be fine and he was right--we had an amazing Spring of blooms and the excitement of experiencing new plants appearing in the yard. The quality of work and attention to detail caused us to go back to The Narrow Lane again last Spring to do a total renovation and redesign of our back yard. While we were impressed by the quality of work and attentiveness to detail that we experienced with the first project we were absolutely blown away with what Jeremy, Matt, and The Narrow Lane were able to deliver for the backyard. It is truly a work of art and we are so happy that not only did we re-engage with The Narrow Lane for this project but that we gave them complete control over the design and implementation. Neighbors now stop by to explore the yard and we are known in the area as "that house with the amazing landscaping". Based on these landscaping experiences over the past year we have now also contracted with The Narrow Lane to maintain the gardens and yard during the growing season as well as to provide us with snowplowing and shoveling in the winter. I will admit that they are not inexpensive to work with but the prices are totally justified by the quality of work, the care and attention that they have brought to everything that they do, and their continuing care that they bring to our property. We have found everyone from the company that we have engaged with to be consummate professionals that bring a new level of care and respect to the properties they take on as projects. If you are looking for an exciting and complete re-imagination of your property and then professionals to maintain it throughout the year you can't do better than The Narrow Lane.

I would not do business with this company again…read more We hired one of their landscape designers to create a redesign for our front yard and paid a substantial fee for the design. Our contract specifically stated that we were not required to hire the company to perform the installation work and that the designer would revise the design based on our feedback. The designer visited the property, evaluated the site, and later scheduled a Zoom meeting to present the design. During the meeting, the company owner joined the call. After the designer finished presenting the plan, I started to provide my first piece of feedback but the owner cut me off before I could finish and stated that the design phase was complete and that I would need to hire the company to perform the installation if I wanted any changes made. The interaction was unexpected and inconsistent with my understanding of the contract. The designer appeared uncomfortable, and I found the owner's tone rude, unfriendly, and intimidating. What should have been a collaborative discussion about minor revisions became an unpleasant experience.
