We had red oak floors circa 1990 and wanted to make them a more modern looking gray tone, which can be challenging to do right. Geovane was very patient and explained things clearly upfront - we could sand the floors down and go gray, but there might still be some red tones from the wood that show through. He then brought out three different stains and did tests on the floor so we could pick what we liked. We ended up preferring one, but it was still not quite right. So Geovane did one more adjustment, which came out perfectly! His crew is incredibly hardworking and kind. Everyone was very careful about wearing masks. They came, brought all of the tools needed, and did a superb job. We loved their work so much that we ended up hiring them for more and more. All in all, they stained all of the existing hardwood floors for us, removed carpet from bedrooms, replaced it with new hardwood, stained the new hardwood to match, removed carpet tiles in the basement, replaced that with new vinyl flooring (which we got to choose from multiple samples), AND replaced all the balusters in our stairs. Oh, and they removed existing built-in cabinets from the walls with the utmost care and recycled them for us. Beyond that, they picked up on small details that could use a small improvement (e.g. doors that were sticking, plastic vents that could be replaced with much nicer wood vents, etc.) and did them for us. Everything was thoughtfully done with great communication and an eye for detail. Rates were highly reasonable and the work was done very efficiently (three weeks for everything!). We highly recommend Geovane and his team at GB Floors. They are fantastic!

Then just stopped returning calls and texts. It's strange because it was a pretty easy fix and clearly their installers fault. I understand that mistakes happen, but its how you handle those that should define you as a company. We were first blamed, then lied to, then simply ignored. Not a good look in my opinion.

For a little backstory: When some DIY electrical work replacing a ceiling light fixture went wrong, I was stuck without power in my kitchen, living room, or bathroom. I started calling electricians, handy-man services, Home Depot, and anyone else I could get on the line. Mike from MNM Handyman Services was the only person who took the time to listen to me over the phone, and immediately offered some safety tips that allowed me to at least restore power in the rest of my apartment without worrying about electrocuting myself. The very same day, he arrived at my door and took care of the problem. Turns out we were dealing with some pretty ancient wiring, so it wasn't the standard Black/White/Ground situation to connect the fixture. Mike quickly figured out exactly what needed to be done, and explained everything he was doing every step of the way (but of course reminded me never to do it myself unless I know what I'm doing... safety first). I was supplying the new legs myself which was metal to replace the original metal legs on the cabinet. They received the pictures of the cabinet and contacted me and they told me the cost would be between $450.00 to $500.00. I asked them why so much money, they told me because it a heavy cabinet. Anyway I hired a carpenter to replace the legs. Fact check--Carpenter was able to lift the cabinet by himself. He said the cabinet only weighed about 15 to 20 lbs. Fact check---Took less than a hour to replace the old legs with new legs my new metal legs are lot more sturdy than the old ones. Fact check---Total costs was only $150.00 Before you hire a handyman on yelp get 3 to 5 quotes from different handyman. Have them look at the project, look at their reviews, if they don't have any reviews don't hire them.
