Mike from MNM Handyman Services could not have been more helpful when I really needed it. Completely went above & beyond, and saved me a lot of money on electrical work. For a little backstory: When some DIY electrical work replacing a ceiling light fixture went wrong, I was stuck without power in my kitchen, living room, or bathroom. I started calling electricians, handy-man services, Home Depot, and anyone else I could get on the line. Mike from MNM Handyman Services was the only person who took the time to listen to me over the phone, and immediately offered some safety tips that allowed me to at least restore power in the rest of my apartment without worrying about electrocuting myself. The very same day, he arrived at my door and took care of the problem. Turns out we were dealing with some pretty ancient wiring, so it wasn't the standard Black/White/Ground situation to connect the fixture. Mike quickly figured out exactly what needed to be done, and explained everything he was doing every step of the way (but of course reminded me never to do it myself unless I know what I'm doing... safety first). Would call 10/10 times for electrical work, or anything else that I can't figure out myself, because I know Mike would make sure it gets done RIGHT. Happy to say I found a friendly, professional, and skilled handyman... a great resolution to what was shaping up to be a disastrous day. read more

Mike installed a recessed Kohler medicine cabinet and a shower grab bar. Both were done professionally. He arrived when he said he would and did not waste time. He was clear and made sure things were done to my liking. I will use his services again as the needs arise. I do recommend him. Mike thanks for the good job. Art read more

Mike is the real deal, fast on replies and arrival time, knowledgeable, friendly, fixes the original problem and anything he sees needs a tweak. Just had a door hinge fixed and he also gave an estimate on a threshold repair, tightened up the inner door and screen door latches, recommended and installed a detector upgrade to carbon monoxide and smoke detector (had here), and fixed the Ring doorbell on his way out. This is the fourth time Mike has come to our house and there will be many more. read more

Mike was awesome! Very responsive and hard working. Exactly the kind of person I like to deal with. Will definitely use again.

MNM Handyman Services agreed to do the work, started the project on Tuesday August 27, said they would return on Thursday, but did not show up. As of September 2, they have not responded to my efforts to contact them. read more

Mike was very quick to respond to my quote request. He showed up on time in a professional construction trunk. There was a America flag, so I knew he was the right guy. He carefully analyzed the job, and told me the job is going to take a longer time than he thought, but he still honored the price that his office quoted me via yelp. Overall, very down to earth, no bs kinda guy. He is coming back to do the job in a few days. I will update this review after work. read more

Okay so, a small backstory here: I had just moved into a new place with my wonderful girlfriend and we had ordered a washer/dryer combo from Home Depot. Home Depot COMPLETELY screwed up multiple times by failing to deliver the washer/dryer then when they did deliver, never had told us we needed the stacking kit to install these, despite us telling them we need a stacking washer/dryer for our home. Then, we finally have our parts and we schedule Home Depot's install - they just *cancel* our appointment, don't tell us. And the only solution they give us is "I don't know, go call places." At this point, we're two ladies living in a place without a washer/dryer for two weeks thanks to Home Depot's inability to book something correctly and that's absolutely not a great situation. So, we end up calling MNM. A quick phone call to the office and sharing our story with the absolutely wonderful and sweet lady in the office and we're on schedule for them to come by later that day!!! So Mike &....gosh I forget the other persons name but they arrive in their window and are super personable and unbelievably nice. They get everything installed quickly and cleanly, all while playing therapist and talking to me about my Home Depot trauma. They test everything to make sure all is working and head out. I cannot be thankful enough for everyone i've interacted with at MNM and I've got their card for basically anything we need help with in the future. I can only highly recommend them based off this experience! read more

Called about a week ago. Still zero return call. My voicemail is not full. Hard to leave a good review when your call wasn't even returned. Unless he takes over a week to get back to people. Maybe that's it, and if so it's good I'm letting people know now, so they don't call him and wait for nothing. Thanks Mike! When I called there was no such message. I've already planned with someone that called me back. Thank you for your response. read more

Excellent service and even better turnaround. I called Mike to help me replace a garbage disposal and fix other little things around my apartment and in less than 12 hours he was working on it. He gave me a good quote that included the new pieces that needed to be put (garbage disposal, toilet seat, and sink sprayer). He works hard and has a great attitude. I recommend his service to anyone! read more

Michael ( @ M 'N M home repair), has been out here 3 or 4 times now, they've done some tricky home repair stuff for me on a big old house. (They found and completely replaced a 40-year-old unique crank out window, with all the supporting framing all slutted out, and installed it perfectly! Mike is really smart mechanically & otherwise, He's been doing this for decades since working hisDad back in the day, He's figured out fixes that have stumped me... He and his partner, (can handle small jobs simultaneously have also done a myriad of other work for us If I were you, Think I'd consider hiring these guys to do anything they're capable of. (They'll let you know if its not in their wheelhouse) They charge a fair market rates, but will keep at a job until its done right. One tip: To be more cost effective, try & have a couple of smaller jobs in mind when they come out to work as you will have two guys there, and they can get a lot done IF you have the projects figured out and lined up for them. N.B. Very personable, informative & friendly people, I also happen to trust them completely, and actually like having them in my home ***** read more

I called Mike with a list of small repairs and he was very responsive. There was a problem with a faucet not fitting and a new one had to be purchased but he was able to come back quickly and replace it with the new one that I had purchased. There was also a problem with a programmable thermostat that was installed and Mike again was very responsive and did not quit until they figured out what was causing it and fixed it. I would definitely use his services again! Great customer service! read more

Awesome! These guys are the best. I was already happy with other work they did for me in the past. Suddenly winter is over, it's 80 degrees and I'm baking in my own rental. Just called them today. They made an exception to see me the same day to drop in a window A/C unit so I wouldn't have to suffer in the heat until next week. Mike was professional and mindful of the current pandemic. He observed precautions and wore protective gear as he worked. The job was done fast and came out great. I'm already relaxing in my cool air conditioned room. I called Mike regarding a window A/C installation on the 3rd floor of our townhouse. Mike and his helper Raul were both very professional. They came on time as agreed, read the instructions on the safety bracket for the A/C, then figured out a way to install the bracket and A/C safely despite our brick exterior (it would have been easier if our exterior was wood), while all the time being thoughtful about how to slant it slightly so that rainwater would not get into our window. He also made sure to remind me how to uninstall the window A/C when winter comes. Mike also helped us install a bathroom cabinet while he was here, and gave me pointers on what needs to be fixed around the house. I would definitely hire him again. He is thoughtful, thinks on his feet to make things work even if the settings are not ideal like in the instruction manual, and charges a reasonable rate. Mike is not the cheapest handyman I've hired, but he is one of the best and most thoughtful. read more

We had a fairly straightforward over-range microwave replacement/installation. I called around to probably 4-5 handymen, and no one even called back. Mike answered immediately, found the time and came the next day. He contacted us and asked if it was OK to show up early. On the job, he actively solicited questions and feedback, did the job right, cleaned up, and was honest and upfront about pricing. I give him my highest recommendation and would (and will) hire him again. read more

Mike and his team were great. They know how to get stuff done. They fixed all sorts of things in our apt., lights, doors, windows insulation, the metal gate at the entrance, wood table restoration, and many other things...they can do pretty much anything. Price is reasonable considering that Mike invests great effort and precision in his work. They are also very clean and always careful to leave the house in order when they leave. Mike is friendly and a good person. We totally recommend them! read more

Had Mike seal up a window that was leaking when it rained in my condo. Held up tight in the northeaster a couple days later. Kindly gave me 1 year warranty on his work without me even asking. I should note, many other handyman services gave me the run-around about their availability, presumably because they didn't want to come to Allston. Mike scheduled a time to come within a couple days and showed up and got the job done. read more

Response to Mike's Post Mike, No offense, but everybody is squeezed financially, it doesn't correlate with how hard, responsible or competent you are. This goes for all us. I think it's unfair of you to put your family on the spotlight to justify yourself. But I would like to understand: my husband texted you and called you on the day of the missed appointment. You never responded until I wrote a review (i.e. your reputation is on the line). Still, you will not admit...never mind about admitting a mistake....the possibility that you may have forgotten us! Doesn't it occur to you that we have a text record of our correspondence with you? It's nothing personal but for you to indirectly call me a Liar in the arena of public opinion to discredit me, you shouldn't be surprised to expect anyone to voice out. A "sorry IF I forgot you" (which is a polite way of not admitting guilt) would have gone a long way in customer service. I am just judging for what I see, and I must say that I am disappointed, that's all. I must say that we really wanted to love your work. We heard so much good things about you. Let this be a lesson.... for Wisdom has to be earned and sometimes at a cost.....We already found someone to help us...I just hope that you will be more careful with your other future customers in your appointment management especially those older folks who are not technologically savvy and who don't have a voice on the internet. read more

I called Mike at about 12 noon today, not really expecting same-day service. These guys are great. Our kitchen sink had been taken out by an ice dam that had fallen through our glass ceiling and was in dire need of repair. The first company I called came out and told me that they could repair the plumbing, but wouldn't attach the sink to the granite countertops- worst, was that they were going to charge over $1200. Enter MNM services, who not only reattached the sink to the countertop, but repaired all the plumbing and installed a new garbage disposal for less than half of the price that I was quoted by their competitor. They were timely, efficient, professional, and their banter was hilarious. I will definitely use Mike and his team again, and would highly recommend others to do so. read more

Work was done a few months ago. After a couple of days, sink drain, Mnm installed, was leaking. It was not glued together....at all. They came to fix it a couple of days later. He also discovered our AC was not properly releasing water and was able to fix that too. Our AC now looks and runs like it's brand new! I needed some work done in my two bathrooms and in the kitchen with some checks of water pressure and to clean up the cocking and sealing of the showers/baths in my new home. Mike was able to quickly come over to give me an estimate and schedule the work the next week, whereas other handy man services could not even return my phone calls! He knew enough to offer me the "must do" inexpensive solution and we also talked about what else could be done but I appreciate he is pateint, answers my questions as I am a new homeowner and want to learn what he's doing. The work was done in a shorter timeframe than he had estimated with a good price. When we was at my home doing the work with his colleague, they were quick, cleaned up and very nice.We had forgetten to look at one item in the bathroom amd Mike came by a second time to make the fix without any additional charge. Mnm Handyman was very hard to get hold of by cell/phone, email, and web site. Mike, the person who I dealt with, never replied back to my messages in a timely fashion from those 3 contact media. I was only able to contact him via cell phone text message. Scheduling: First time to have them come by the house for an estimate - they "forgot their cell phone which had all their appointments". Ok. I had to reschedule work because they forgot. Workmanship: PVC drain pipe wasn't glued properly. Water leaked all over the floor. Had to contact him again, via text, and workmen came back again to reglue the pvc pipes. Cabinet doors were mounted a bit crooked. The doors rubbed against each other when closing and opening. Other work done was fine. Price wise: I thought it was a bit high. I tried calling other handymans who had better reviews on Yelp. They never contacted me back. I guess they were too busy. Handyman with worse reviews to Mnm did contact me but I had 2nd thoughts after reading their reviews here on Yelp. So Mnm Handyman was the best choice at the time. Would I hire Mnm again? They won't be my first choice. read more

At first, I had a hell of a time finding a home service that would take what I was told was an unusual home repair; other services in the area told me that they wouldn't take on the job. Mike took on the challenge immediately. Making the appointment was a snap, and Mike arrived with backup on time for the job, was courteous and respectful of our home, and never once shied away from the project. The man has an impeccable work ethic. Mike's analytical skills regarding a difficult repair and ability to work on the fly around any issues that arose was impressive to watch. I felt immediately at ease that whatever came up, Mike would work to fix the issue. You could see the determination and resolve to fix the issue and I was glad I selected MNM Handyman Services. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Mike. The price was more than reasonable, Mike was a lifesaver. I must admit that I made this account just to spread the word. I'll let his words speak for me. This, after he destroyed potted plants and didn't leave me a note, heads-up, or apology, and generally using my things and not asking/cleaning up afterwards. He's obviously being an ass in his email reply to my inquiries, and lying about using my stuff - did gnomes come in and trash my shop broom, covering it in ceiling plaster and dust, then hiding it under newspaper in my recycling bin? Did my things, small but important to me, magically disappear? I doubt it! Full email conversation (note dates) below. We didn't need to touch recycling bin or your shop broom, also I took a shower and forgot to put it in the laundry, as for your razors, I shaved with them and forgot to mention it to you. However, he left a text the night before cancelling. When I called to reschedule he was apologetic and promised to come on a new date. I spoke to him twice to confirm. After I called and left several messages and texts to confirm the week of the repair, he did not return my calls or messages. On the day scheduled, he texted me and cancelled. Now I am living out of boxes and in a bad spot. I would NOT use this service. read more
