Vessen Home Improvements - Handyman Near Me - Waltham, Massachusetts

Hired this company for a handful of fixes at rental property. Serge was easy to coordinate with and showed up on time. He went right to work and got everything done at a good fair cost. As he was walking out he noticed an issue with my door jam and took care of it on the spot. This company did excellent work on a 90 degree day and I'd definitely recommend them to anyone reading this. read more

I can't recommend Vessen Home Improvements highly enough. Serge, the owner, was outstanding from start to finish. I contacted him after, unfortunately, hiring another contractor only three months earlier who did a sloppy job and left me looking at crooked doors every day. Serge and his team came in, replaced all of them, and the workmanship was outstanding. Our project involved replacing 13 interior doors (including 3 double door closets), and because our home has non-standard door sizes, it required extensive measuring and planning. Serge took the time to carefully measure everything multiple times and even researched the best sources to find the right doors rather than taking shortcuts. He also replaced a bathroom threshold and completed a few other projects, all with the same attention to detail. Throughout the project, Serge was exceptionally communicative, professional, and reliable. His crew was hardworking, respectful, quiet, and left the house clean at the end of each day. Most importantly, the quality of the workmanship was exceptional. Serge is a true perfectionist, and it shows in every detail. The doors fit perfectly, operate smoothly, and the finished product exceeded my expectations. If you're looking for someone who takes pride in his work, communicates well, and delivers outstanding craftsmanship, I would wholeheartedly recommend Serge and his team. read more

A few weeks ago, I was doing what you're probably doing now, poring over reviews of every handyman in the area. I think you should go ahead with Vessen Home Improvements! Serge did a handful of small jobs around our house such as recaulking, drywall repair, and painting. His efficiency and workmanship were outstanding. He is also extremely friendly and pleasant to work with and the price was really fair, I thought. Something that really impressed me about Serge is his integrity and the pride he takes in his work. He was a little unhappy because one of his repairs wasn't absolutely perfect (honestly I didn't notice and felt ok about it even after he pointed it out) but he returned a day or two later and did make it absolutely perfect. I give Vessen Home Improvements my most enthusiastic recommendation! read more

Both Sergei and Kyle repaired a section of my floor that had water damage due to an old faulty dishwasher; they cleaned the area, put down new grout. Applied some laminate that had been ruined, and the baseboard was not affected. I also asked him to install a supported piece of wood to extend my washer and dryer area. They did a great job I couldn't be happier. And they were done with the work in a short amount of time. And his pricing was great. I will reach out to him with further work when I need to get it done. read more

Showed up on time, did what they said they were going to and even pointed out some additional areas to address. Highly professional, high quality work and did not leave a mess. Will hire again. read more

Sergei Vessen responded rapidly and did great work repairing our deck stairs. He was very focused and careful, and transparent about his pricing (which was quite reasonable). I'd hire him again in a heartbeat. read more

Serge came to install floating shelves that I assumed would be installed into studs in our wall. Turns out, the wall was cement and not drywall. Even with that unexpected complication and extra work he did a GREAT job! The shelves were perfectly hung and look amazing. We hope to have him do several other projects in our home. read more

Serge was excellent! He took down a closet installation, patched the walls and repainted all within 3 hours. He was professional, skilled and went above and beyond the scope of my project. I discovered and contacted Vessen Home Improvements via Yelp. Serge provided me a bid very quickly and was responsive throughout the entire process. I hired him and his team to repair ceiling damage from a leaking AC drain line. The ceiling literally started to cave in. I attempted to use another contactor, but he wouldn't provide a rough finish, only smooth and the rest of the home (built in the 90's) was rough finished on the ceiling. Serge provided three options/suggestions. In the end, the job came out great, on time and within budget. Serge is a very nice person to work with. I would highly recommend him and his team based on my experience. read more

Excellent service provided. Communications were smooth and prompt, I was able to schedule the work quickly. Sergey noticed the door dimensions were off when he showed up to fix it, he found a work around that at the end worked out cheaper and also went through the extra effort of dropping off the wrong sized door back to the store for us. We were coordinating all the work remotely and our experience working with Sergey was seamless. Highly recommended him . read more

Really appreciate these guys. They communicate well, are very competent, and stand by their work. They've done little things for me, like securing kitchen drawers and small touch up paint. They've done significant things for me, like securing outside steps and replacing high up motion sensors. I'll certainly call them again. read more

Good communication, work and price for repairs to porches and basement door. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Vessen Home Improvements for large and small tasks at a high standard, a good price and on-time. Serge and his crew members made many high-quality, aesthetically pleasing improvements of my home in the Spring of 2025. Serge gave me an accurate estimate as well as better ideas of what to do. In doing a particular job, Serge often did something not on the list, like attaching a door-stopper board on the other side of the barn-door floor guide that he installed, because he has very high standards for a job well-done & a comprehensive knowledge of building. Serge had every tool needed for my long list of jobs, which included replacing the irregularly shaped kitchen floor (Serge cut many odd-shaped vinyl pieces & set them perfectly to create a beautiful surface), replacing front door weatherstripping (plus Serge found & trimmed a jutting metal piece that prevented the door from closing completely- the heating bill decreased by 15%!), painting white the dark green walls of 2 rooms, painting other rooms (Serge recommended a painting scheme that made the bedroom brighter), rehanging a hard-to-access pocket door (Serge did it without removing a chunk of wall and installed 2 access panels so that future problems can be easily solved), replacing a water-damaged ledge+shelf top and a facing board, caulking sinks & a bathtub, and removing an ancient, heavy, wall-mounted TV. Many other jobs were completed. Everyone was professional and personable. read more

The two gentlemen came to my house to help with fixing some broken window panes on a door and did an amazing job as well as being communicative throughout from the initial correspondence through completion! Would definitely hire them again! read more

Scheduled work two weeks in advance (confirmed appointments twice on Yelp app) but was a no show. By the time they got back to us, we had already secured service from another vendor. Very disappointed! After reading Serge's response, I decided to upgrade my review to 3 stars. We have a deadline and needed the repair done in the two week time frame so when the crew did not show up, we naturally panicked. We scrambled to secure service with another vendor before hearing back from Serge. The stress we went through is totally unnecessary if we were given a heads up. I appreciate Serge's acknowledgement of what happened though. It is a shame... With all the rave reviews on Yelp, we were actually looking forward to work with Serge. read more

Sergey was very responsive to our questions regarding the installation of a barn door to our master bathroom. He completed the work in a timely manner, and his price was fair. Our door works great and looks beautiful! It was a great solution to a crowded entryway. read more

I highly recommend this Business for general home improvement contracting needs. I live in a condo located in Boston and was looking for a contractor for a small job. During my contractor searched, I reached out to ~10 companies - including one that was voted 'Best of Boson.' This company rose to the top of my selection criteria. Description of work: I had two basic-sized closets in my bedroom and wanted to remove the doors and built it shelves. And to install custom-designed Container Store closet design. 1. Response time. I tried many avenues (reference, Yelp, Angi's List) to find a contractor and posted a job on Yelp at 3AM in the morning. This shop responded within 10 minutes! And continued to remain engaged (e.g. asked follow-up questions about the job) w/ a response time of 1-3 hours. 2. Quality of job. Sergey's team arrived on time (in fact 15 mins early) and I was very happy with the final product. He communicated to me any questions or issues throughout the process. For example, we realized after removing the custom shelves, time was needed to patch the holes and to do light paint touch-up before installing the new closet design. He left to do another job and returned later in the day to ensure the paint was dry. 3. Customer Service. Sergey's team was professional. He communicated any questions or changes throughout the job, ensured the space was clean, and ensured I was satisfied with the final product. When my custom closet rods ended up being slightly too long, he took it home to cut it and returned the next day to finish the job. 4. Price: I found the price very reasonable. 15-20% less than other quotes. Especially combined with the high quality and excellent customer service. I will use Vessen Home Improvements on future home improvement projects. It is a pleasure to find a company that excels in both customer service and quality - what I call TRUST. read more

Reached out to have our front porch steps repaired. He asked for pictures and based on the picture and my measurements gave me an estimate which seemed reasonable. I asked for mahogany boards to match the rest of the deck and he reported that he does not know where to buy mahogany, which was kind of surprising to me. He said he was going to ask around and let me know. I have not heard back from him since. that was a month ago. read more

We have our old front door , that needs to be replace . The storm door was broken because it wasn't too sturdy when I replaced it by myself for the second time around I did it . So it got broken because of the strong wind during winter , and it did caught the side railings ,that was just put in 5 years ago . So in short our front door entrance is a mess . We found Sergey via Yelp , he responded after I send the picture . He texted me back coming on the date and time he promised . I like him for a . Mentioned the labor and the possible expenses . b . He's on time for what he had promised us the date to be finished c . He listen to you what you want and sometimes suggested what is the best .d he presented the expenses already we talked about . e excellent job they did all at our front door. . So what are you waiting for ? I give him a high regards to his work , to his team . Great job as you could see on the post . Thanks Sergey and the group . read more

Serge was very experienced and did an excellent job. I would recommend him to everybody.

Got a new attic ladder installed to replace a hatch. Sergey was very responsive & communicative, gave me a ballpark estimate to plan with even before coming out to do an official one (which he also did very quickly), and was great about helping me decide what size ladder to order & what the best placement would be. The team put in extra work to make the installation look & work great, beyond what I would've expected - e.g. figuring out a solution for a ladder part that arrived mildly damaged. I expected this to be my problem as I was the one who ordered the ladder, and the ladder was completely functional as is, but Sergey and team repaired it on their own initiative and for no extra charge. Would definitely recommend and will definitely hire again if I have more work! read more

Sergey was quick to respond and he and his team was able to work on a quick (and weird, on my end) timeline. Very transparent on the various things that need to happen (many of which I, of course, did not know) and able to adapt to slight changes in plans. The work requested was to tear down a closet and if possible, move it to the other side of the room to open the room up more while still having a closet. Initially we agreed on effectively translating it to the appropriate 1:1, but he called to confirm and suggest a slightly smaller closet so that it would not clash with the window. No reason for him to need to do that, so it's very appreciated, and I'd like to convey it demonstrates he has the customer's best interests in mind as opposed to just doing what is requested. Definitely a strong recommend from me. read more

Responded quickly, got the work done fast and at a good price, very responsive. would definitely use again.

Amazing work , he did everything PERFECTLY! To say the least . He was on time ! He worked on this as if it was his home. He definitely went above and beyond for us today. I won't be going anywhere else after today read more
