Requested a quote from Phil via Yelp. He quickly responded and came by and explain how he can fix the squeak and how it will require sanding and staining of both rooms. I contacted Phil to refinish my floors. It turns out that my 95 year old probably could not be satisfactorily refinished. Phil quoted to replace the floors. The quote was competitive so we went ahead. Phil installed new floors in our living room, dining room, two bedrooms and refinished our entry staircase. Phil and his team did a great job. Phil communicated decently by email from the estimate through to the job, including after-care instructions. They worked very quickly and the end result looks great. Phil's team did a great job on the small details, like flooring around the radiator pipe. There are a few minor complaints: 1. The flooring arrived a few days early so it could acclimate. The delivery was announced about 30 minutes before it showed up. I happened to be home, but it caught me by surprise. 2. The job was not "dustless" as quoted. The dust was 95% contained, but there were a few places in my home that I had to vacuum and wipe down afterward. Overall I'm happy, this job had less dust than the last time I had floors done. 3. There were a few places where the stain leaked onto adjacent floors, namely the threshold to my kitchen and the tile bathroom. This is a pretty minor issue, barely noticeable. Phil is phenomenal. Very hardworking, efficient, and clearly experienced. I have used him for two jobs now. The first was on a hardwood floor with water damage located in a difficult area -- right under two HVAC units that had leaked. The hardwood was glued down to cement or concrete, and several other companies that came to do an estimate were either not interested in how small the job was, or did not know how to deal with the glued hardwood. Phil took on the job, did everything on time, and his work was impeccable. He seemed expensive at the time, but the next job proved to me that he is competitive. I moved to a new home and wanted all the hardwood flooring refinished. The upstairs had carpeting I wanted removed and the hardwood underneath buffed and polished. He discarded the rugs himself, and did a huge amount of square footage in a matter of three days. The floors are probably 5-7 years old, but they looked beautiful and new when he was done. And the house was cleaner than when he started. He gave me a very good price for what was a larger but more straightforward and traditional hardwood project. Equal to other quotes I obtained.
