Tao and his crew did an amazing job installing our new engineered hardwood floors. We needed to get rid of our carpet and replace it with new hardwood floors. When Tao first came by for a free estimate, he had great suggestions to make the space look larger and more open. We wanted to try to match the existing hardwood floors we already had as much as possible. Tao immediately knew what kind of floors to use and he even had samples on hand so that I could compare them with our current floors. Tao's estimate was very reasonable and comparable to other companies I reached out to. I went with Tao because of his background as a designer and I trusted he would make sure the floors look great! It ended up being a great decision because we are very happy with our new floors! The installation process was very smooth and even finished earlier than expected. The crew was very respectful of our home and did a great job keeping the house clean after their work was done. Any minor issues I found during installation were immediately remedied by the team without any issue. Overall, I would highly recommend reaching out to Tao for your next flooring project! read more

I highly recommend Tao. I was skeptical about having our floors refinished, but I'm really glad I did. I shopped around for 10 different quotes from Boston-area companies. Tao stood out for how knowledgeable he was. First, he was clearly knowledgeable. Based on photos alone, he corrected me that the wood was not mahogany (as our home inspector said) but instead Brazilian cherry. I verified that he was correct with the listing agent. No other company did this. Second, he had the lowest quoted price for the job. Third, after I selected him, he was transparent about tradeoffs rather than purely trying to upsell me. For example, he quoted me on installing wood registers everywhere when I asked, but recommended I do so only in the hallways. This advice saved me $1k and delivered a result in very happy with. Finally, Tao was easily the most response person I interacted with. It was a pleasure to work with Tao, and I'm very happy with the outcome. read more

Working with Tao was a great experience overall. My wife and I were looking to get the floors done of our recently purchased home after 10 years of wear-and-tear. We looked and spoke with many flooring companies and ultimately decided to go with TaoZen Flooring. Our decision was based off several key factors: 1. Competitive Price 2. Quick turn around time 3. Access to other resources/contractors As first time homeowners, having that ease of access and connections that Tao brought made it even easier to get other work done such as replacing carpets through a connection. Anyway, regarding the work itself the floors were beautifully done. The contractors even moved the fridge to re-polish the floor underneath! Tao is great to work with and was committed to our deadlines. He's a funny guy to converse with and I will continue to do business with TaoZen Flooring for my future needs. The estimate was accurate with no surprises and a nice discount was applied for me as well. read more

Although communication presented some uncertainty, the work done refinishing our living and dining room floors (including replacing some stained portions of wood) was industrious, careful, and came out beautifully. Tao was able to arrange to begin quite soon after he came to provide the estimate. We needed furniture moved to tight quarters, and for this he recommended a mover he knows (minimum moving fee = 3 hours per visit) who pulled it off within an hour, which required some creativity. read more

I am a happy repeat customer of Tao. He refinished an old floor and most recently installed pre finished hardwood wood. Tao is great to work with, sticks to his word and is always on time/on budget. I can't imagine calling anyone else for help. Tao does more than hardwood and I suggest reaching out to him for other jobs big and small around the house. read more

Taozen floor services is a great company that I would recommend to anyone that is looking for quality work. It was clear from his first visit that they have the knowledge and experience to handle any hardwood floor problem they are faced with. I am extremely happy with the work that Taozen floor service have done for us after buying our house in Natick. I was impressed by their pricing as well as their speed. They are efficient, friendly and professional. Great company that I could not recommend enough! Five stars all the way. read more

I was impressed by Tao's knowledge, expertise and ability to deliver quality work on my floors. Very satisfied with the results of my floor.

I have used Taozen Floor Services twice, first for a new floor install and then a second time for some floor refinishing work of a different area of my house. In both cases I was extremely happy with the work and feel that my home value was greatly increased because of it. The quality of the work is very high, my floors look beautiful and I have received a number of positive comments about them. Tao is also a very honest and trustworthy person and gave me very fair prices both times I used his services. I would highly recommend Tao and his team (and have actually recommended him to neighbors). read more

Tao provided truly amazing service to us. He accomodated our urgent floor re coating request by getting the work done the next day. The quality of the work was very high and the price was very reasonable. Given the great experience with Tao we later hired his team to replace our carpet floor into red oak floor in the attic which also went super well. Strongly recommend. read more

Hired Taozen to refinish and do patch work on hardwood floors. Fair pricing and very knowledgeable. We're able to fit us in quickly. Very professional with great communication. Had a large black stain on floor that couldn't be removed with refinishing. They were able to patch with new wood and I can't tell the difference. Very pleased with their work. read more

We recently moved into a new home and hired Tao and his team after reading all of his prior positive reviews. We are glad we did! Despite the house only being 7 years old, the entire downstairs hardwood and main stairway needed to be refinished (prior owner had a dog, didn't take shoes off in house, etc). Additionally, we had Tao put new hardwood on the second floor which was carpeted when we moved in. Finally, we had Tao patch and replace a water damaged area near our back porch. Throughout the whole project, Tao was actively involved and provided great advice. He advised going with a prefinished Appalachian red oak for the upstairs flooring, rather than unfinished wood and stain (due to the current price of lumber). This was a great suggestion and matched the existing downstairs floor almost perfectly. As it relates to the downstairs refinishing, I think the pictures speak for themselves - absolutely flawless. If it isn't clear, we are thrilled with Tao's work. The caveat to all of this is that Tao is not the cheapest option in the area, but like anything else, you pay for what you get. If you want quality and diligence, Tao is your man. read more

I had a great experience with Taozen Flooring. Tao was very responsive and provided an accurate estimate upfront. Tao and his team at Taozen are truly unmatched in the industry. They helped us to restain the wood floors in our home and did such an incredible incredible job making our home feel like brand new again. Taozen was fantastic. We had them refinish the hardwood floors in every room in our home before we moved in. Tao was super communicative. He was very clear that he would do whatever we ultimately wanted but was not shy about sharing his opinion (which we welcomed as we had never had hardwoods refinished before. Comparatively, other contractors we met with were more short and told us less about different finishes, approaches, etc. Based on his advice we pivoted from having a higher gloss finish (which is what we were used to) to something more modern and understated and it was 100% the right choice - we are very glad we listened to his advice. He clearly has done a lot of this and we appreciated his perspective. His timing was spot on, fit in a fairly large project into the time before we moved in, and was communicative throughout. Price was super competitive and he was easy to deal with. He did a full walk-through with us after the service. He undersold the end result and was very clear about what he could fix and what he couldn't (old water stains). Even the areas with water-damage (the floors were 100 years old) ended up looking fantastic. I would recommend him to anyone needing hardwood floors redone and would have his team back in a second if I needed anything else. read more

We were looking to refinish the floor of a condo we just bought. A friend highly recommended Taozen from their own experience. Tao was professional, easy to communicate with, and personable. Rare amongst the companies we contacted, he provided detailed quotes in writing for us to consider and compare. For us, Taozen was both the best-reviewed and the most affordable. The final outcome is outstanding as promised! read more

I've worked with Taozen and their team several times at two or three different homes I've either moved into, or was renovating. Below are some pics of my new house where he sanded down and refinished all the White Oak, Pine, and other floors. Bar none, they are the best in the biz. He and his team do what they say they're going to do and provide exceptional work. I work with a lot of contractors in my line of work and with today's housing market most of them will give you a quote and then disappear after getting a check. Or even worse, you have to beg them to get you a proposal or any sort of legitimate quote inside of a month! They get in and get out super fast and aside from the beautiful floors left behind, there is no trace of them ever being there. HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking to do any work to their hardwood flooring or add new! read more

Did not like the way he talked to me, wasn't very accommodating with what I requested to be worked on.

We hired Tao and his team to replace the hardwood floor for our 650 square feet apartment and they did an excellent job. Our apartment is very old with lots of nooks and crannies, and there are many electrical outlets in the baseboards. Tao's team took the time to demolish the existing floors to the edges of the baseboards and cut the prefinished hardwood pieces into appropriate lengths so that they fit properly. They then covered up all the edges between the baseboards and the floors with moulding, which made the final finish look nice. Our floor used to squeak a lot and now it feels solid with no squeaky sound. His team was very professional and experienced, and they even accommodated our needs to move the furniture around by finishing the job in stages. Tao also gave us a lot of good and honest advice regarding which hardwood to pick and how to take care of the floors afterwards. We are quite happy with their work and would highly recommend his team. read more

Tao and his team refinished the hardwood floors on our new home and they did an outstanding job. Tao was able to come out to the house during the closing process (as we were in the process of buying it) so that he could assess, quote, and get to work right away once we closed. His team finished the work in 6 days on 2,700 square feet of hardwood. They used a high quality water based finish and gave us a reasonable price on it. Tao was very transparent throughout the process and went beyond just "doing the job" to educating us on different options throughout the process. Tao and his team recently helped us refinish the hardwood floors in our 1950s house using a water-based finish and it looks AMAZING. When I asked for a quote, Tao was responsive and prompt. Communication during this whole project was perfect. I had a couple of other renovation projects going on and Tao was able to accommodate changes in our schedule. His team was courteous to the other contractors at our house and worked around each other. The work was completed well within the estimated timeframe. Tao suggested adding hardwood flooring to one of our oddball rooms to make it more part of the house, and it has completely transformed that space! I would not hesitate to hire this team again for any future projects. read more

Last month we were in a time crunch. Movers coming soon and we recently passed papers on a condo learning that master bedroom +walk-in closet had plywood under wall to wall, not hardwood. We got info/quotes from 2 reputable flooring specialists. Taozen & Goddard. Right away we could see great differences. Tao, the owner, suggested prefinished red oak, Algonquin brand. No fumes! No worries that it would not be thoroughly dry. He brought samples so we could see how it matched both in color & height to meet hallway hardwood. He suggested removing closet system, putting wall to wall hardwood in closet & later reinstalling. All in our 1 week time frame. Goddard, just opposite. Wanted several coats poly, would put wood up to closet system, brought no samples, said there would be fumes, etc. We chose Taozen. Fabulous job. Looks like it was installed as a match to the rest of our hardwood. His workers all terrific. His sub skillfully removed & reinstalled closet system. We are glad we went with Tao. His quote was fair & workmanship outstanding. We are very pleased. read more

We contacted Taozen initially for the installation of the hardwood when talking through the work he recommended refinishing the existing wood on the first floor as well. He did both and everything looks great, the refinished wood looks beautiful and the installation of the new floor went great. He was easy to work with. He tries to handle multiple customers as good as he can, this gave a little challenge in the communication but eventually all went really well and we are happy with the results. Part of our house is still (old) carpet, when we're adding hardwood there we'll definitely contact Taozen again. read more

We contacted Taozen to do the hardwood flooring for our new home when we were planning on moving from California to Massachusetts. Due to supply chain shortages during Covid, it took some time to get a quote, which involved contacting the supplier, but he was very clear in communicating to us what was happening. He took the time to explain our options and showed us samples to help us make our decision, and he gave us two quotes that we could choose from. After making our decision, he finished the hardwood flooring for our entire home in two weeks. The process was very smooth and we're very happy with the end result! The pricing was reasonable compared to other contractors and the quality is very good. We plan on using his services to refinish our floors as well in the future! read more

I recently bought a new (but nearly 100-year-old) house. It had gorgeous hardwood floors that no one had paid attention to in some time. They weren't in terrible condition, but they needed some love. After reading Taozen's stellar reviews here, I invited him out to give a quote. I chose him over other vendors for many reasons. He responded to my query promptly, and came out to the property to take a look at it. He was personable and respectful. He wore a mask, and he also took the time to teach me about my house as we walked through it. Apparently I had a floor of quarter sawn white oak, with gumwood wainscotting. He pointed out particular scuffs and gaps and asked me how far I wanted him to go in repairing it. He took time to answer my questions about the gaps I saw in the floor and explained how wood floors need to breathe and what that meant. He was able to start work super quickly--within a week of our walk-through--and his quote was in-line with others I received for three coats of satin-finish polyurethane. His team was also done just when they said they would be--in under two weeks for my entire house. The finished floors look gorgeous and really restored the space to one that looked surprisingly updated. All from doing a single, but well-done repair to the floor. Would highly recommend. read more

We called Tao for a quote to remove my mother's carpets and lay down hardwood flooring. He arrived with samples which was very helpful. We ended up choosing a prefinished hardwood since she was going to be home during the install. Tao's pricing was reasonable and he was available to answer all questions we had during the process. Tao's team began the process about 2 weeks later and they were friendly, clean, courteous and did a wonderful job! Would definitely recommend. read more

Taozen walks the walk! I have used him before and using him again was a no brainer. He was on time for our appointment even though I accidentally gave incorrect directions. His estimates are broken down in great detail. Pricing is solid and work is quality but this time I threw a curve ball at him due to a very tight customer deadline. Had a good size project that needed to be done on short notice on specific days and he made it happen. Not only did he make it happen but he exceeded my expectations on some tricky leveling/repair work and really proved himself and his team as top notch. Will use him again and happy to give a reference for him anytime. Thanks Taozen!! read more

I picked to work with Taozen based on the reviews I read and everything lived up to expectations. Taozen did an excellent job refinishing our pine floors in an old condo in Somerville. Tao replied promptly to my inquiry and came by the following day to discuss options. He was professional and gave honest recommendations and fair prices. We chose to refinish the floors and we were not disappointed. We left keys for Tao and his team, evacuated for 5 days, and came back to a clean condo and beautifully refinished floors. His team even came back within hours of me contacting him to smooth out a section I was particular about. He is very professional and I highly recommend Tao. read more
