I highly recommend AJ Flooring! Ken was a pleasure to deal with. I got quotes from three different companies. His came in in the middle but he excelled in customer service and the floors look amazing. They took great care in moving and replacing my furniture and provided me with visual updates as we had to leave the house for a few days. read more

This team is outstanding! They are honest, fair in pricing, show up when they say they will, and get the job done well. My floors look new, and now closely match the color to the connecting hallway. Everything is cohesive. Regrettably, I made the mistake of hiring my contractor (now former!) to previously refinish the same four floors. They made a mess. Fast forward, this team fixed the rough spots and welts, and, left nothing underneath the poly (e.g., brush hair, knee pad prints, etc.). AJ is a testament to flooring being a specialty, just as plumbing and electrical are. (Tip: All flooring services charge for moving furniture, as I discovered while getting initial quotes. So if you want to save a few hundred dollars, have family and friends help you move furniture before and after the refinishing job.) I personally will use this team going forward for my flooring needs. read more

Ken was great to work with, super communicative and professional. He is very kind and really went the extra mile to give us a good experience working together. The end result for our new floors is beautiful and came in on budget and within the agreed timeline. Ken is very knowledgable about his craft, including historic buildings in Boston which was our case. Thanks Ken! read more

I hired AJ Floor Service to remove the rugs, padding, nails, and staples to expose the hardwood floor. They arrived on schedule, worked diligently, and completed the job quickly and exactly as promised. They also swept and vacuumed all the dust and debris left behind. I am very pleased with their service and would highly recommend them. read more

If you're in the need for any floor work whether repair work, partial or full install Ken is your guy. I found him on a Google search. I called, he showed up within two hours. He assessed the damage areas and within three hours I had a quote for two different options. No need to feel like I needed to negotiate as his pricing was excellent. Ken was able to get a couple guys to my house within 2 days. We were walking on the areas within 48 hours. That included the repair, stain and polyurethane process. In addition to the excellent service, Ken was a great communicator....including some good humor. I will NOT have any floor work done by anyone else as long I am in his company service area. read more

Very professional responded quickly for a quote and maintained good communication throughout the process. Protected our belongings using plastic to seal off other rooms and cleaned up after. The floors look great, back to original beauty. Thank you, would definitely recommend. Also a very good price for the job! read more

Excellent company, used them several times and they've always delivered quality work. Highly recommend!

It had probably been 20 years since our floor was last resurfaced. We had some deep claw marks in our wood and gaps between the planks. Ken and his team made it all look like new. They were very easy to work with and even did the work while we were away on vacation. In addition to the floor they put in beautify wooden floor vents. 5 stars! Highly recommend! read more

Working with Ken and his team was a smooth, painless process. Ken was able to come out for a quote the day after I called, and we coordinated the details and booked the install within a week. Ken's team arrived on time and got to work quickly to remove our carpet and install new hardwood. We ran into a small snag with the sub-floor, but Ken's team communicated the issue well and was able to come up with a solution that worked perfectly. We're incredibly pleased with how it all turned out! read more

We couldn't be happier with the work Ken (the owner) and his crew did installing our new white oak wood floors and refinishing the older ones. From start to finish, Ken was incredibly accommodating, easy to communicate with, and flexible with our schedule. The quality of the work was great --everything was completed on time, on budget, and with attention to detail. We're so thankful to have worked with someone so reliable and skilled. I would highly recommend using AJ Floor Service if you need work done at your home! Ken and his team were on time, worked hard, cleaned everything and even helped me move my couch back into place! And the floors came out great!! 5 stars!!! read more

These guys deserve 10 Stars. Great workers , owner takes pride in his work and it definitely shows. The best compliment I can give "I don't even want furniture because the floors look so great"! read more

I got a bunch of quotes but AJ Floor was the most responsive and accommodating. Not the cheapest but TBH the cheapest quotes seemed sketchy. Ken and his brother got it done on a short timeline, did an amazing job, and kept the apartment remarkably clean. The floors are an antique or reclaimed flooring, with visible nails to work around. They have been ignored or painted over for decades. Restoring these took extra work and they look absolutely fantastic now. read more

just lots of phone calls and excuses. we gave up on them and hired a different company that worked out great.

They did great work. We're on time and communicative. Floors look really nice and price was reasonable.

We had the pleasure of using AJ Floor Service last week to refinish the hardwood floors in our kitchen, dining room and family room and we could not be happier with the results. Adding in their level of workmanship, responsiveness, customer service and reasonable pricing lets me highly recommend AJ Floor Service. 5 stars! read more

Ken and his team were amazing. He came in to give us a quote on Wednesday, brought samples, and matched the floor exactly. He bought the wood, stripped off multiple layers of carpet and vinyl, cleaned the space, and put down a perfect floor by Friday afternoon. Constant communication. Fair price. And careful, experienced people. Highly recommend! We will definitely hire them again. read more

Ken is the man! We need the flooring refinished before we moved into our new home, but we were working on a tight schedule because of a delayed house closing and a rapidly approaching exit date on our apartment. Ken said no problem and finished in no time. During the quote process we discussed staining a darker color to get the wood to match, he pointed out he would sand down raised board in the thresholds between rooms, and recommended a satin finish to help withstand an 85lb German Shepherd. During the process he maintained constant contact, made 100% we were happy with the color we would go with, and finished on schedule, giving us plenty of time to plan a relaxed move in before our move out date. read more

Kenny was prompt and professional as well as being very friendly. He refinished my antique floors in my attic and dining room. The floors look amazing and I will use him again when I need more floors refinished. We did have one minor hiccup that was resolved immediately. Ken takes pride in his work and stands by his commitments. A company that acknowledges and resolves issues as quickly as Ken did is a rare find. Thank you Ken for the great service! read more

Highly recommend. Ken came to price out the work within an hour of my call. He was a pleasure to work with. His crew did an outstanding job on my hardwood kitchen floor, which was pretty beat up. Ken checked in with me several times over the 2 days it took to do the job and again when it was finished. I would definitely use AJ Floor Service again. read more

Had an estimate done at my home and Ken couldn't have been nicer. He's very professional, thorough and knowledgeable. He spent a lot of time at our house going over solutions to help us as national floors direct; to be quite honest, screwed us over and our new floors are falling apart and he is also giving us a quote to install new flooring in a bedroom. Will update once the work is done. Already very impressed by Ken, he was even at our house the same day we requested an estimate and told us so many more options than I even knew about to fix our floors. So happy to have found this company and excited to work with them. read more

AJ Flooring service is outstanding. Ken responded quickly to my call. He came out with a quote on the same day. Communication was great. He offers discount to teachers and military. Very professional and conscientious about making sure your place is cleaned up from dust. I highly recommend. read more

I thought this would go great bc of Yelp reviews. Ken's communication from first call was excellent. Quick text responses even in evening, answered all questions promptly and patiently. We confirmed a date and time for 8:30am and text confirmed the night before. Stressful to rearrange my schedule and get the house cleared out. But the day of: No Show. When I called/texted for an ETA, nothing (text attached). I know the text was viewed. Still no communication 10 hours later. I'd expect at the least an explanation or reschedule or even a formal cancellation? But NOTHING? Wow I'm blown away how any business considers this acceptable. Please note to contractors: if there's a problem just communicate anyway. Don't avoid the situation and leave a potentially loyal customer in the dust. 2 stars is for initial good communication. Hoping this review prevents him from doing this to another customer. read more

I hired Ken to refinish my first floor and he was supposed to build a sub floor and patch a small area with new hardwood. Our project had a number of issues including: - Swirl and circle marks through the corners of the hardwood. He had his cousin and nephew doing the job and apparently they don't know what they're doing. The poly was done over the marks and they are apparent. Poor craftsmanship. - They did a very bad job of covering our brand new kitchen cabinets and countertops. When we can home we had to clean all the dust. - There were a number of areas where the poly was missing and he had to come back and do it by hand. - Our patched area was done with red oak and not white oak to match the first floor. - There was a piece of wood that sunk about a half and inch (patched area) and when he came back to inspect he said he couldn't fix it. - He did refund some of my money on the patched area and the others, but when I requested a full refund he said no and didn't return my calls/texts. I'm now out the money it took to leave the house and stay at a hotel, as well as I'm in the process of hiring someone else to do the job I paid him for. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this company. read more

Ken and his crew of 1 were punctual on all 3 days that it took to finished the project. He left the place clean. The two steps that he repaired are perfect. The floor was beautifully done. Hired AJ Floor Service to sand, stain and polyurethane the first floor of my house and stairs leading to the second floor. Ken and his crew did a great job and answered my questions all the time via phone or text. The job came out great and on time and I would highly recommend them to anyone for a high quality and fair price wood flooring service. Please be sure what kind of stain you want to use and know that the process takes time to come together, each coat of polyurthane improves the look and softens the finish of the stain. We used Bona Woodline satin finish on my floors. Overall really happy with the outcome, thanks AJ floor service! read more
