Patriot Paving and Masonry approached us about doing some chimney brick work. A quote of 7k for…read morework from the roof line up to the top of the chimney. PPM then noted that our chimney needed some major work. PPM quoted 16k to work from 4 feet from our concrete foundation up to top - remove old brick, put in new brick and liner, from 4 feet on down to concrete foundation they would remove the existing mortar between the bricks and re-mortar. Would have been a huge windfall for them if the work was only from the roof line on up. I got a bank check for the 1st half of payment. It took PPM 5 days total to "finish" the work. Workmanship is fair, not great, not poor. I then gave them a bank check for the 2nd half, here was still some minor work left - cleaning the site, pick up 4 buckets and a tub of debris left on the lawn and put in a new fire damper inside our fireplace. It took a few calls and about a month later when PPM finally picked up the buckets and tub of debris and cleaned up most of the mess on the lawn. Another couple of calls with a night before to confirm, to install fire damper were made. Following day PPM never showed up. Made a few more calls and said he was too busy. STILL making phone calls about the fire damper. I also requested a couple of pictures of the work they were doing. I requested those pics a few times. Still have not received the pics. My big mistake was I gave PPM the 2nd half payment check before the job was complete and I was totally satisfied. I should have held on to the check. Now I'm being given the runaround. It all started great, PPM was great to deal with. But the final is very disappointing. Dealing with PPM has been disappointing.

I receive a knock 15 minutes later quoting me $2,500 for flashing and removal of nails around the chimney. When I requested to see the photos, I was told they would not be able to share them. After questioning this, one of the guys became aggressive and left. Beware of mason companies and do your research.

Ray, the owner reached out and said he could come by that evening (even though it was his day off AND his wife's birthday). He met with my husband and explained we just want cement to cover the dirt. Ray looked at him oddly and pulled out pics from his phone and said I was thinking this. He explained he would put cement down but add pavers to make it more finished looking. That convinced him. He came back a week later and finished in 3 days. It's amazing! It's so much nicer than I was thinking! If you're looking for any masonry work, reach out to Ray!

I had multiple contractors come quote digging up the whole garden and extending the current patio to cover. Unlike others who came, Ray was the only one who took the time to walk through exactly what I was looking to do and gave a very honest quote. He was able to schedule the work right away and his team showed up ready to go. The project hit an unexpected complication during the work when we realized the rat damage was worst than expect to the patio. Ray informed us and showed us directly the issue then walked through our option and we shifted the project slightly. Ray and his team worked hard over the two days and the project came out excellent! I would absolutely be reaching back out to Roadstone Masonry and Building if any more work is needed in the future. He was professional, responsive, and also a friendly guy and would highly recommend his services.

I interviewed a few masonry companies for repairing spalling brick in my basement. Some wanted to…read moreparge the walls, which was not what I wanted. Some quoted me fairly high prices for the repair, but Martin Forde offered me the best, and most reasonable cost for the job. During our interview Martin struck me as a competent, and fair mason and he is responsive by email, which are valuable traits in a contractor. We scheduled the job, and he and his team showed up right on time. The first thing I learned is that Forde masonry may not have a full time staff. Martin definitely came out to my job periodically to deliver materials, but the masons who did the work were actually two latinos who seemed to be day laborers. They were competent, and very polite as I asked questions in my broken Spanish, but that makes accountability a little more difficult. That became a problem when I was in the basement with another contractor, and I saw one of the mason repairing a hole that was two withes thick. He was just repairing the outward face that I could see, but leaving a whole in the second layer. I asked him about it, so he dropped some mortar into the hole, a few bricks, and kept on with his repair. Yes, it visually looks fine and I would not have noticed if I were not watching as the hole was getting closed up, but that is not what I expect when I hire a professional mason to repair my walls. My job is done though, and I hopefully will not need masonry help for a while. Most of the issues I had are easily fixed with a little more attention to detail, and oversight, so I would encourage others to give Martin a chance if you need masonry help.
