They are a great company that stands behind their work. They do a really nice job of taking my ideas and offering great input to make them even better. Every job that Blade touches always exceeds my expectations. Most of all, the people are so nice there and everyone who visits our property from the company is so courteous.

After the initial meetings, we received a preliminary conceptual rendering and budget estimate. Unfortunately, we felt the design did not adequately address several key elements of the project--particularly the hardscape and deck redesign, which remained largely undefined--and did not reflect the level of development we expected from the design process outlined in the contract. We therefore decided not to proceed further. What was most disappointing was not simply that the design failed to meet our expectations, but that after I wrote a detailed and respectful letter to the company's CEO explaining our concerns about the value received for the design fee, I never received any response. Everyone we interacted with was courteous and professional, and I appreciate the time invested by the design team. However, based on our experience, prospective clients should clearly understand that the design retainer is non-refundable and may represent the full cost of a preliminary concept if they decide not to continue with the project.

After meeting at my home to discuss my landscaping needs, Mike (the owner) told my wife and I that he would send us a proposal for the cost of our landscaping needs as well as the cost of the design. At the time, he indicated that the design would be included if we choose to have his firm do the landscaping. Upon receiving the quote, it was noted that only 25% of the cost of the design would actually be included (first warning sign!). I left a message for Mike to discuss this and some additional questions on the proposal, however, the message wasn't returned for several days (second warning sign!). Upon finally getting a call back from Mike, I asked about the cost of the design and why it wouldn't be included even though that was what he had originally indicated. The short answer is that the job wasn't large enough, of course, he could have/should have known that before doing a bait and switch (third warning sign!). The next and last question was more basic; what is included in the budget (i.e., what am I going to get for the thousands of dollars that you are going to charge). Straightforward question that other landscapers don't have a problem answering. His response was that he couldn't say and he then proceeded to hang up (final warning sign!). Old adige, if someone isn't willing to disclose what you are paying for, don't pay!

If you ever have contact with this company RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!…read moreI have never experienced such shoddy work and lack of follow up in my life. Sudbury Lawn was terminated from landscaping our condominium due to poor work. Never the less, last fall we contracted them to install about $2000 worth of shrubs. This spring, most of them were dying - many of the shrubs were just put in a shallow hole right out of the pot. We tried calling the owner (Mike) at least 10 times and have yet to receive a call back. Don't know what recourse we have ( possibly the Better Business Bureau). Maybe we just learned an expensive lesson. There are too many other reputable landscapers than to deal with these shysters. Mike S.
