This is my favorite Falling Sky location. I am not much of a beer fan, but friends tell me it's good! I got a housemade soda--yummy! I also enjoy the food here, especially the fries. Counter service was friendly. 5 of us ordered a bowl of soup, a pulled pork sandwich, 2 variations on their veggie burger, pretzel sticks and spicy sticky wings. The chicken and rice soup was very dark broth - probably beef, which was not mentioned, and it had some aromatic spices - maybe allspice or Chinese five spice. Not bad, but not what our diner wanted. The field burger and the pork sandwich were good, the hand cut fries were excellent - twice cooked which is a must for them to be cooked through and crunchy. Vegetarian daughter is a connoisseur of meatless patties, and she didn't rave about this one. Sticky wings are beautiful. Big meaty drumsticks that are frenched and covered in thick sticky sauce. Yum. The pretzel sticks were disappointing, not dark and chewy with salt, more like breadsticks dusted with parmesan (?). The beer cheese was bland, but the mustard was very good. read more

This is first brewery that I have been to in Eugene. Lots of good beers on tap and delicious food to go with it. It has a smaller parking lot, but street parking shouldn't be a problem. Plenty of seating indoor and out. Great place to grab a beer and a bite to eat. If I'm ever in Eugene again, this will definitely be one of my stops. read more

Food is NOT their thing. Good beer but the food was not. The soup comes in a cup about the espresso shot cup and tastes like cumin, or something odd like that. The clam chowder must've been a personal strange recipe. The Fish and Chips should be called BATTER and SOGGY potatoes. Not much fish in there. The Fish in Tacos was oddly deep fried. The pretzel sticks looked too light, maybe undercooked. On what I felt it was edible were the Poutine despite soggy potatoes and the pulled pork sandwich. The service a bit slow but good. I like the atmosphere for sure. The beer and other beverage selection is good. If you want a Ruben, this is definitely your go to! The chicken wings were a little too salty, the jalapeño poppers were basic and falling apart. I got the veggie burger. I added portabellas. The bun was sub par, so I just got rid of that. Dry on one side, and not toasted. Everything was flavored well. Just fell apart. Next time, I will definitely order differently for sure. read more

I'm going to temper the enthusiasm a bit, but let me say I hope to return and upgrade my rating in the future. Let's start with the positive. As a long time customer of Valley Vintner, I am very excited to see them branch out and open a brewpub. It's a great location for this, and the layout and decor is excellent. I love the large open seating area right next to the mash tuns, and the fact that nothing is sealed off so you bask in the aroma of beer being made (though this may not appeal to all, it is a strong smell but one I personally find pleasant). Though they're not serving beers yet, the guest taps were well selected and reasonably price. The walk up serving line (though not quite equippped to handle a crowd) makes it easy for a large group to go without having to split up bills, and is preferable to fighting over the attention of a bar tender. That said... First, it was really really crowded even at 5:30 on a Friday. Ok, it's friday night. But that early I did not expect such a crowd. Finding seating was rather difficult. This isn't really so much of a fault, of course, as it's great a new business is popular. But you should be aware that if you go with a big group, you're going to be lucky to get a seat. I'm very interested to see if this is just because of the buzz over a new business or if the crowds will sustain, although I hope them the best I'd love to see it die down a little. The one fault with the crowd, however, is that the acoustics of this place are pretty bad. It is EXTREMELY loud inside, and I was unable to converse with anyone who was not sitting next to me. This is NOT a good date location, and not a good location for anyone who wants to talk without getting hoarse. Next, they don't have any of their own beers available. I suspect when they do, and if they are solid, I'll grant them another star. I just find it odd that they decided to open a brew house without any brew. I eagerly look forward to sampling what they have to offer. Finally, the prices. Oh my. While the beer prices are fairly reasonable, the $0.25 off for happy hour is a bit silly. I mean, a quarter? Why even bother? But the food prices. Oh my. I paid $10 for a bratwurst with curly fries. $10! Not even a bun with it. Yes it was good. Yes, I love that they are supporting small local farms and businesses. But you can do that without having to charge such high prices. While the $5 small plates offer a chance for a good value, they are indeed quite small and more of a snack than a meal. If you are looking to get an actual meal, plan on spending at least $10. While that's not a lot for a meal, it is quite a lot for bar food. In general I feel like all of the food offerings were a few dollars more than they should be. $13 for a bacon cheeseburger? Get it down to $10 for a solid burger I might call that reasonable. Likewise my brat and fries, for $7 I'd call it an ok deal. While the prices probably aren't entirely out of line for local/free range stuff on an upscale menu, I do hope they scale things down over time so it could be more of a frequent haunt. So overall, I'm putting them in the watch and see category. Once the beer is on tap, the buzz has died a bit and perhaps the menu gets a rework it could be a solid establishment I'd want to frequent. As it stands, though I like it, I can't see myself visiting all that often. read more

When I was in Eugene back in October to see a cousin I had plenty of time to kill since she didn't get off work until the evening. I have heard about Falling Sky before. They have a reputation for making experimental beer so naturally this was the first place I went when I visited downtown. Eugene proved to be much larger than I remember it! I did not know it when I walked in but Falling Sky serves food as well. So I ordered some of their nachos with Buffalo meat. I got a taster set as well since I wanted to try a little bit of everything. The beer was good but not as experimental as I thought. I liked their Pale Ale, IPA and a stout best. What really earned five stars for this place was their food! The nachos were out of this world! Easily the best I think I ever had! The cheesy sauce was homemade and the Buffalo tasted great! I was still hungry for dessert so I ordered their Pumpkin Creme Brulee. A small cookie was an accomplice with the dessert. Yep! That too was amazing! So I definitely recommend Falling Sky for the food! The beer is good too but having some grub with it makes it all the better! read more

I need to stop believing these Yelp reviews from Eugene. This was sooo disappointing. The fries with the beer cheese was gross. Texture was not smooth but kind of grainy. The salted pretzel was good though but paired with a mustard sauce? and the nasty beer cheese. Beer was pretty good and so was the lemonade. Falling Sky deserves more than a meager 3 star rating, hence the re-review! After multiple visits, Falling Sky is a solid 4 stars in my book. Every time we've came to Falling Sky we've enjoyed our time here. Service has always been great...The beer is always changing providing a broad range of tastys treats to try, the special of the day is always changing as well. The burger I had on my first visit didn't do this place justice. It was way over cooked and just no good. I've had it probably 3 or 4 times since then, and I have to admit it's one tasty little burger. Nothing too fancy, just good solid food. Whenever I come here i'm always trying out the IPA's. Another plus is that every IPA I've had has paired really well with the burger and fries. Some IPA's are too bitter, or simply taint your pallet and really hinder the ability to taste the food. I've never had this issue with their beers. The Whoa Dang, is a great tasting IPA that flows too well. The outdoor seating is money! Where as it is limited, I do admit...it's still comfortable and perfect for you and your family. Even with 7 of us out for lunch, we all sat comfortably in the sun and the kids played with the dinosaurs that are in a box for the kids to rummage around in. So why not the 5th star? The price of this place is certainly more than you would expect. It's $5.00+ per pint of beer, the burger is $12 I think? So with 1 beer and a burger and fries your dropping a twenty pretty easily. I would like to see the prices come down a little bit and I would be here a LOT more often. Cheers! read more

Perhaps my review is biased because it's purely based on a bowl of vegetable kale soup and the Pouring Porter beer...but it was quite good, I must say. Just a downside -- it's a bit on the pricey side. I got the "bowl" of soup for $7 but I swear it was the size of a small cup (no exaggeration). I've had some real ups and downs in this place but I've finally decided that, if I stick to burgers and fries (with the occasional pickle plate**), it's really wonderful. Falling Sky is a hipster haven. The shabby chic interior beckons them. And the tongue-in-cheek 'quarter off beers when it rains' special keeps 'em coming. In all seriousness, though, the family-style tables, benches, and lovely south-facing windows do capture all of the available Eugene natural light, and make for a very cheery lunch spot. Come here for a Friday happy hour, too, and you'll be shocked at all the Eugene local celebrities jus' chillin'. I've had some real luck with the specials here, too. If they ever offer the carnitas tacos when you're there, make sure to snap them up. The clunkers for me mostly occurred during their opening months, and many of the problematic menu items have since been abandoned. So I recommend giving the Sky another try if you were one of those who were burned on your first visit. The ingredients are top-notch and, like I said, it's a really, truly, great burger. **Not yet tried the beers. Will re-adjust review if necessary after I do. read more

Lots of great brewhouse spots in Eugene, but my fav is this one tucked away on Oak Alley. Less rambunctious than other spots in town. Wide selection of IPAs, stouts, lagers and kolsch. Great pastrami hash. Only headache is finding it on Oak Alley - not Oak Street. Parking can sometimes be sparse. Worth all the hassles. read more

Thanks Robert for clearing up the egg in the field debacle. The owner reached out and assured me that no egg is used in the patty. Which is great news since the chickpea patties is delicious and light and I will be enjoying it again. Previous post: I ask if there was egg or dairy in the field burger patty and was told that it was vegan. Later I asked about what was used for a binder and was told a small amount of egg. Good thing I'm not allergic. I am Vegan and would have order differently. A small amount of egg does not equal vegan please do not mislead your customers. They seem very aware of what they put out in terms of food and sustainability which I appreciate other than this experience I have enjoyed everything we have every eaten or drank there. Damn! Alllllllmost 5 stars for the Falling Sky! Pretty damn good, mostly local grub at this spot! Im definitely a fan! I first went to check em out on the recommendation of someone about this Maple Porter. Maple...Porter? For someone like myself, who can consume maple syrup by the spoonful, and also enjoys a fine porter from time to time, i felt it would be in my best interest to go check this spot out. Wise choice! Unfortunately, last time i was in there, they no longer had the maple, but fear not, they had at least a dozen others to choose. And you can get a sampler of 6 or 8 to try a bunch of their brews too! I consume alcohol so rarely, that when i do, i aim to seek out the BEST, and Falling Sky, miiiiiiight just have it! Last night was my third experience at Falling Sky. I've eaten there twice. The first time the burger and fries were over cooked, and over seasoned, respectively. Frankly I've had better elsewhere. Last night I ordered fried chicken breast sandwich and again overlooked. The fried breaded near razor-thin chicken was blackened to a crisp as was the bun it was served on. Very very average pub-grub. However, ending on a good note, their brews are all very good. So, go for the beer, and eat elsewhere. Oh yes the price. Nothing is cheap anymore. As a former small hospitality business owner I understand better than most what the costs are to keep the doors open. Our bill last night for one large salad, one chicken sandwich with fries, two pints, and tip totaled $40.00. A bit steep in my opinion for average fare. This is an amazing place and I am so incredibly glad my fiancé and I stumbled upon it. This was the best meal and the best beer we experienced in Oregon during our road trip. First of all, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. The interior is clean and the service was excellent. My fiancé and I had no idea which beers we wanted to choose. The gentleman who helped us asked which beers we didn't like and he put together a flight for us based on our preferences. His selections were absolutely spot-on. Our favorite was the Pinky and the Belgium, a beer made with pink peppercorn. The food was a dream. I had a vegetable sandwich on marbled rye and my fiancé had a burger. Every flavor was mouth-wateringly splendid. There was also this heavenly "ketchup" that was more like a thick, delicious marinara sauce. This place was so amazing that my fiancé and I even considered making an additional two hour detour on our 8 hour drive just to swing back by this magical place. Alas, we shall have to wait until our next road trip to stop by our favorite brewery/restaurant in Oregon. 5 stars and two thumbs way up. I've never written a Yelp review before but after our attempt to come to Falling Sky today I felt compelled to write about our experience. We come here pretty regularly because the service is always on point and my partner enjoys their cider selection (honestly, we're not huge fans of the beer) and I like the tacos. However, we tried to bring my mother here for an early dinner and were totally disappointed. We get that Eugene is not used to snow but the business owner made absolutely no attempt to have the parking lot cleared. My mother has bad knees and there wasn't a safe place in the whole parking lot to drop her off. We even drive a Subaru with AWD and were nervous about being able to get out of the lot. I feel that creating a safe, comfortable and fun spot for your patrons is important and the lack of effort makes us wonder what the owners prerogative is. read more

DLW and I came here for Saturday brunch. The place is fairly popular at this time of the week, and since the weather was nice most people sat outside, leaving plenty of space for us. The atmosphere is utilitarian, long picnic tables which require sharing at busy times, and brew kettles visible through the windows. This is a place to hang out with friends, not to take a date or someone you want to impress. We each ordered fights of four 4 oz beers, a nice way to try the offerings without needing to get hammered. I also liked that the alcohol content is kept under control, with just the imperial IPA over 6%. I had a breakfast hash with pork belly and fried egg, and DLW had a kebab on pita and pickled veggie plate with some very strange strawberries. Think umeboshi strange. We were both happy with the food and beers, and certainly want to try the other offerings. read more

I REALLY want to like this place. I do. The food is good, the room is aesthetically pleasing and I love the idea of getting a beer, lunch and my brew supplies in one stop. However......There are a few areas for improvement. For one they aren't serving their own beer yet. I heard maybe March but that's a downer. Also, the place is loud. I mean scream at the person next to you, ears ringing on the way home loud. Not a great conversation or date place. Lastly there is no comfortable seating. I love the kick back and have a beer feel......and you are not going to get it from this place. Most of the seating is long wooden benches with a couple of tables with cold metal brightly colored chairs. The new high top bar tables are awesome but the stools are cold metal and tiny. In my opinion this place would be a 5* if they: a) got some kind of noise dampener b) got some comfortable seating c) offered happy hour or nightly food specials read more

I did not see all the hype. The frys were excellent but I was not so impressed with food. And the service of the cashiers. As a first timer I am usually lost but I am not afraid to ask for help. I ordered a sampler and the beer was okay the imperial ipa was really good. But I agree that I did not feel very welcomed here. And especially when I went back to order again with a different person taking my order they were also just very short I personable obviously annoyed and didn't care about his customer service. Both people attending/register were males. Good thing I was with pleasant company and I managed to have a good time but with my table of four nobody really liked their food except for the frys and some of the beer. Great burger, good salad and awesome pickled veggies. Took my order Togo but the inside was adorable and super warm and cozy.

Classic brewery/brewpub exposed, high ceiling, outdoor picnic benches, finishing tanks on display, etc... but classic is not bad and in this case they all of positives and most importantly, the beer is excellent and the selection is fantastic. Little difficult to find as the brewery is located down an alley and if unfamiliar with the area you might miss the sign telling you to turn down the alley. Once parked and inside I was pleasantly surprised! Clean, bright and very large space with plenty of seating (nice outside space to boot). Menu offered plenty of unique and traditional options. I'm sorry to report that Falling Sky was not so great on our visit last weekend. The food was NOT delicious. The staff seemed disorganized and made mistakes. The cook was especially unfriendly to guests, for some unknown reason. Is it under new management? We use to really like going there, but it seems to be declining in overall quality, rather than getting better. There is so much competition in this town, with many new, cool places opening. I just don't get why Falling Sky would let themselves go. Dang! It has been the only place to get a decent poutine around here! Even their stout beer didn't taste as good as in the past. I think I'll be a fan of Falling Sky. The place was packed on a Thursday night- a good sign. Very few seating options if you just want a table to yourself, but as the previous reviewer said it kind of has a wide open bier garden effect, which is a cool addition to Eugene's scene. None of their own brews still... but I look forward to tasting! Had some of their wheat-free Tej a month ago and it was delicious. If you're a local, it's kind of Sam Bond's meets PRI meets Ninkasi in feel. Service was fine- no waiters, but they bring their food out to you. I had the $11 burger and fries. It was on the small side, but quality burger with a good bun and tasty meat, house made pickles and mustard. The fries were overcooked, cold, and hard- no thanks!
