We came here for breakfast for our first time not too long ago with my wife and was disappointed. I got the hobo omlette which was kind of bland the thing that saved it was the cheese which added some type of flavor.. her french toast was burnt and luckily for me it tasted like my middle school / high school breakfast trays so I was able to finish the food hahaha.. The customer service was kind of "uninviting" in some way the vibe of the waitress was like she wasnt having much of a good day? Other than that the portions they give are great! A great local, mom and pop place for breakfast. The portions are good sized and the menu is pretty basic for breakfast fare but the reason for the 4 stars are the pancakes. They are the best in the immediate area. I am a fan of the plain buttermilk cakes. They are the best I've had since I relocated here recently. Really nice little diner style spot in Fallbrook. The place has a small country type of feel to it similar to what you would imagine if you stopped at diner in the mid west. Prices are reasonable. You really do get a good amount of food for the price you pay. Worst service I've ever had and they lied to me! I called ahead to this place asking if they had fresh squeezed orange juice they said yes I get there and they tell me again that it is fresh squeezed. Once I got it it was obviously from a carton I had to ask a third employee if they made it themselves. I happened upon this restaurant as I was driving through and wish I had known about this place before. The food is amazing and the service was just as good! I ordered the steak and eggs which were cooked to perfection as I had requested. My coffee cup was never empty as all the waitress were very attentive and kept it full! I want to preface this by saying that I believe all people (especially food servers) deserve to have hazard pay and I hope that the owners of Fallbrook Cafe are doing everything in their power to protect and pay them a fair wage. With that said the protections they had in place for COVID were not up to par. The booths had plastic dividers but were still seating people back to back (did we forget about the six feet distance?) they seated people behind us and we promptly moved. Later I overheard a server talking very loudly about feeling sick nauseous and dizzy. I almost left after the server clarified they were speaking about a medical condition I decided to just give this place a chance. Once our food came I just felt disappointed. I order the red velvet pancakes and what I got was color dyed pancakes with what was posing to be cream cheese? I couldn't even finish it. I also got two sausage link and they were SWIMMING in grease. I lost my apatite I tried my partners French toast and it was gummy and stale. So friendly and great service. An older cafe but you overlook that when you get a whiff of the good food cooking. Hubby had cheeseburger and really enjoyed it. He said real hamburger, not processed meat. Fries were plentiful and good. There were more fries than he could eat which is saying something. I got the 2+2+2 which was 2 pancakes, 2 bacon, 2 eggs. My eggs were excellent. Actually were hot and done perfectly. Eggs usually come out almost room temperature but not these, they we're fresh off the griddle. We've tried this place multiple times and each time we leave disappointed. The servers are very rude and seem to always be on edge or annoyed. We do get our food very quickly, but they always seem to be bland with an excessive layer of oil or grease around the food and on top making it shiny like a slice of Chuckie cheese pizza, the tastes not much better. I was shocked how poor the food was, given the amount of traffic here. The coffee was weak and the eggs were served hard, although I specifically asked for them cooked soft. I wanted to be charitable because it is a locally owned place so I didn't send the food back. It was busy, but not that busy. Tried this cafe for breakfast. As I walked in, I looked all around for their health certificate, I.e., "A" sign. Didn't find it anywhere. I thought that these signs were supposed to be prominently displayed. Anyway, ordered a chicken fried steak and eggs. It was good. Servers were there with coffee and menus quickly. Hostess was there to refill coffee cup and ask if there were any other needs. It was good, except in the back of my mind was the lack of a readily observable "A" sign. Unfortunately, that distracted my mind from the food and hence, the experience was not a 5 star experience. Recommend that if the restaurant has an "A" sign that they display it. Well... if there's one thing in this world I hate it's onions. Can't stand them. With that being said, I finally made it home this morning after working all night and the only things on my mind were my wife and a breakfast burrito. For supper last night I had a pickle and beef jerky so needless to say I was hungry! I hopped on my phone to see if there was somewhere that delivered bc I was too sleepy to drive any more. This place popped up. They had a few available burritos with their descriptions underneath. I chose the "3 meat burrito." Sounded perfect, meat, taters, eggs, and cheese. No onions mentioned.. a seemingly perfect burrito for my palate. After an eager wait, it finally arrived. Upon inspecting it I realized that this burrito is not what it was advertised to be. The thing was riddled with onions. Now I know it seems extreme to be this upset, and maybe it's just from lack of sleep, but if they can just add things to their burrito that isn't on the menu where do they draw the line? I expect to be accurately informed on what I am purchasing as a consumer. Sad as it is to say, this is a reflection of the carelessness of people in today's society. If you took the time to read this, I thank you. If you think I am overreacting, you might be right. This is just the feather that landed on top and collapsed the tower. I long for the day when we take pride in our work, even if it is as simple as putting accurate information on a cafe menu. If nothing else, take this from my rant.. have pride in what you do no matter what that is. You never know what impact you can have. Even a simple breakfast burrito has the potential to make or break someone's day, and a man can only take so many broken days before he becomes a shell of his former self.
