I love Falafel so anytime I get a chance to eat one I do. So the texture of this one was great. But the only thing that I didn't like was the taste. It seems to have a little bit of a pickled flavor to it. And I know there's a lot of different ways to make it. Me personal i just like it without the pickled flavor. Been here many times since 2022, nice place, good food, always has a good crowd, service is sometimes moody, Ike today for example. I generally order the same things here and in other similar places so I can easily compare any differences that may make one place better than another or not. Today I decided not to get the falafel platter sandwich and the other stuff I normally did because I didn't want a huge lunch. Instead I got just the "other stuff" (hummus, pita, tabouli) and just two a la carte falafel balls Instead of the 3 that would have been included with the platter which offers more volume of everything on the platter. That way I made my own falafel sandwich NYC style (which doesn't have pickle, etc. that this place includes for example). As usual all of the food I ordered was great. I also had the shorba soup, which is always fantastic here. My friend ordered the falafel burger and loved it. The price I moderate high on some items but not out of bounds. They make most if not all of their food in house, so it's fresh and good. The only downsides are the few wobbly tables making eating challenging, the rush of cold air that comes in every time the entrance door is opened or closed, and the sometimes moody or clueless server here or there. For example, both of us ordered hot tea because of it being rainy and cold outdoors and a little chilly indoors. We received the water and tea bags and found the tea never steped. Why? The water was warm at best. When we told the server she said it boiled. Maybe it did for a minute but it wasn't hot enough to step tea. We had to almost draw a picture that we want hot tea not ice tea in order for her to understand telling us it boiled once upon a time wasn't the answer or service we expected. I also specifically told the server when I ordered my meal I wanted the soup first then when I was done with it, I wanted the hummus, pita, falafel and tabouli. She asked me the question if I wanted just the soup first. I said yes. Instead I received the entire meal at the same time, which means either the hot stuff gets cold or the col stuff gets hot. Neither works well for me and also increases, albeit slightly, the risk of foodborne illness. I emphasized to the server I specifically asked for the soup first then the rest late. Instead of doing something about it, the server simply said, "that's the way I put the order in." I'm unsure what that meant precisely. Did she put it in the way I asked or did she put it in so it all came out together? Overall I highly recommend this establishment. read more

Good food and nice space and ambiance, it was especially nice and cool on a hot and humid late afternoon. As we started out sitting outside but moved inside due to heat. My hubby and I enjoyed falafel platter with pita, fatoosh salad with falafel and feta added with fries. The falafel had a great flavor as did the hummus, fries were thin but the dipping sauce was a good flavor, the salad was tasty esp with added ingredients. Would have loved a bit more hummus. Because of the Falafel Shack, I often go out of my way to pass through Chambersburg on my way to other destinations. FYI: Chambersburg isn't really on the way to anything for me.... That should tell you something about this place. My favorite thing on the menu is the chicken shawarma wrap. It's delicious! But, I beg of you Falafel Shack, PLEASE stop wrapping this with a thin sheet of brown paper... WHY do you do this? It makes no sense that I have to dismantle my wrap to take off the sticky soggy paper. Do you know how much of that paper I've accidentally eaten. My other favorite simple item is the babaganoush. First, a disclaimer: I used to live here... In fact, the last year I lived here I lived 2 1/2 blocks from this place. We were one of the first patrons when they opened the brick & mortar location several years ago. So I may be biased, but having been clear across the country 3 times now I can HONESTLY say this is hands-down the BEST Middle Eastern food (dare I say of ALL ethnic food eateries? ) I've ever had. Ever. They cater to allergens, including gluten-free and vegan. The staff is always responsive, and if you eat there often they get to know your favorites. Their specials are ALWAYS delicious. I used to tell people who asked me what to get there, "Open the menu, close your eyes, and point." Because you really can't go wrong and you must eat here often enough to try all the things! I also love having seen how their place has grown. Their tables have the logo engraved on them now, which is added fun. They feature a rotation of local art on the walls, which you can take home with you by scanning the QR code and buying it right online... and their tech is a lot more efficient with hand-held ordering devices that can take payment right at the table (this was a necessary upgrade with how busy they can get). If you plan to eat on a weekend, I highly recommend reservations or you may end up waiting a while. And if you have a big group or want to do a special event, their upstairs room is ADORABLE and perfect for small or large private parties! Oh and they'll also cater your event. So get yourself there and try them - they're the bright spot in middle-of-nowhere Chambersburg! You can thank me later. read more

Very nice freshly made pita. Enjoyed the hummus, which is spicy. Falafel was quite good. You are better off ordering the sandwiches and smaller bites. The main entrees are really not that large, and I found some of their food to be on the expensive side for what you get. You have to chose wisely. The falafel is tasty. A bit too salty but still very good. The pita is amazing. I also had the kefta kebab and it was tasty as well. The prices are decent. It'll sound inexpensive $7 a falafel sandwich, but it's a fairly small sandwich. The location is great. As for the service, I did take out, but I can tell this place has an amazing service. While I was sitting outside, the owner asked me if I want water. That shows that he wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. Unfortunately I do not live close by, so I'll not go back. Wow... my wife and I decided to lunch at the Falafel Shack today. The restaurant was packed and so we had the opportunity to sit upstairs. It is a delightful and colorful space. The restaurant is located downtown and so there's plenty of parking. The restrooms are clean as well. In the warmer weather, there is outside seating on the square in Chambersburg. Our service was prompt, and our waitress was courteous. I had the beef kafta platter with a side of Falafel Shack fries. I had a bite of my wife's Bosnian Beed pizza. Both of our meals were tasty. Our food arrived promptly, and was wonderfully cooked and presented. I must admit... I had a little bit of food envy when the gentleman at the next table received his platter of lamb kebabs. That will be my choice when I return. This is a great local restaurant with comfortable ambience and attentive staff. read more

This restaurant is located in the town circle of Chambersburg. Plenty of metered street parking. I wouldn't take a large group, but they have plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside as well. The atmosphere is cozy casual. I ordered a beef kafta sandwich. The beef was tender and the flavors were gorgeous. The service was great and all the cooking staff seemed attentive and worked well together. Will definitely return. read more

Awesome little spot with great food. The place was packed for lunch rush on Saturday until 2. We had one of the specials (forgot the name but see pic), the beef kafta sandwich, kids cheese pita pizza, the falafel guys fries, and finished with a slice of chocolate vegan cake. The entrees and fries were all very well made and flavorful with reasonable portions. The kafta was particularly delicious, to include their green sauce. The pizza had a bit of a different taste that was definitely on the sweeter side, but seemed to fit with the flavor profile of other dishes. I can imagine that some kids would be turned off because it's definitely not the exact flavor you would normally expect of a pizza. That said, it was still good. The big surprise was the vegan chocolate cake. No one in my family is vegan, but we are chocolate lovers. Unfortunately, the non-vegan version had a coffee icing so the kids wouldn't have gone for that. This cake was surprisingly great. Not too rich or sweet, not overly moist. I have to imagine that this is exceptional for a vegan cake. The service was very friendly albeit a bit slow. I suspect that's due to how busy they were. One thing to note for parents is that if your kids want milk, each refill will cost you. Overall, can't wait to go back again and try more items from their menu! read more

I recently moved to PA from Portland Oregon where it seems that Yelp is more often relied upon to find businesses. Since most places here seem only to have a few reviews each, I thought I would make it a personal project to review each place I try to help fellow travelers in their searches. This place is delicious! Defiantly make it a point to have a meal here. The hours on Yelp weren't up to date when we went (Yelp said they were closed and they weren't, we were happily surprised.) We ordered: Chicken Shawarma Sandwich Falafel Guy Fries (fine tasting, but very small serving, like 1/4 cup for $5) Fatoosh Salad Chopped Salad Pakoras The take away: The ingredients are high quality (a lot of local produce, grass-fed beef,) everything was super fresh and we left satisfied without being overly full. Fluffy, freshly made puffy pita is the star of the show!! I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about Falafel Shack!! Everything they make they make with care and the love of food. We always start our meal with either the Falafel Bowl or the Hummus (we get the spicy of course) Their falafel is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. I literally could eat a whole plate myself!! My husband especially enjoys the Balkan Burger with fries, and I love the Sample Platter with falafel, hummus, rice, tabouli and beef kafta... and of course more pita. Fair warning, eating at the Falafel Shack will ruin all other restaurants for you. After eating here you will wonder how anything else can compare. Food from other restaurants will taste like dust in your mouth compared to anything Falafel Shack offers. You'll spend endless nights trying to recreate the perfection that is dinner at The Falafel Shack but you'll fail. You'll return weekly to get your fix from a restaurant and food that can only be described as ethereal. As soon as you leave you'll again worry "Will I ever be able think of food normally again?". If there is a heaven, then they serve Falafel Shack there. What I really mean to say here is that Falafel Shack is good. In fact Falafel Shack is hands down the best restaurant in Central Pennsylvania and is likely one of the best restaurants in the entire state. The food is incredible, the staff is friendly and they have a great atmosphere. Frankly they are everything that a restaurant should strive to be. First timers I'd recommend the Chicken Shawarma Platter or Chicken Shawarma pizza. You cant go wrong with the hummus or the pakoras for appetizers. Check with the wait staff because they likely have an amazing special that is probably worth trying.
