I love the food. And the service is rude and dismissive. I only come here if I can't find a gyro anywhere else. 3 stars is generous and only because of the food. read more

Very friendly staff. The food was amazing! I ordered the falafel & hummus pita and it was delicious! Definitely will recommend to friends.

Food is good but a little pricey. Sandwich portions are on the large size. You get about 25 fries for $4 (small for what they charge) Some staff is friendly, other staff charges you more for items even though they are specials, then argues with you after you point out the signs for specials. You can do better on around Pearl Street for the money unless you need to have fast Mediterranean food. read more

Really good. I ordered the grilled chicken plate and had hummus and Greek salad as the sides and the food was really good the price was great. Very surprised and happy. Try it you'll like it. read more

Geat take-out style greek (Med.) food. Nothing fancy but the prices are decent and the food is good. Fast and convenient!. read more

Best falafel wrap I've ever had! I'm really picky about my falafel too! My buddy got the gyro n said it was top 3 ever in his eyes. Bottom line everything is probably good! read more

This is an adorable little restaurant on Pearl St, where the service was great! The staff is so nice and helpful. Overall the menu is a little confusing, and I didn't get quite what I thought I was getting, but it did have what I wanted. The food was great, highly recommend the vegetarian falafel!!! Great place for a nice lunch! read more

Enjoyed a nice falafel and hummus snack during my stay in chilly Boulder. Friendly service, and got introduced to Turkish coffee for the first time. Super authentic and great portions. Only wish the falafels were larger in size. Definitely will come back to try out the other sides and vegetarian dishes they have (they have a lot!) read more

My mom and I are visiting from out of town and we needed to stop by for lunch somewhere before our flight. This cute shop in downtown Boulder drew in our eye. Amazing service right away, the man figured we were from out of town and gave us samples and recommended items. Everything was tasting amazing, so we got two gyros with sides of falafel. Absolutely great food. Everyone was so nice, and having a fantastic filling meal really topped off the entire experience. I wish we were from around here so I could come here again! read more

I came to Falafel King for dinner after walking along the Boulder Creek Trail and ordered the gyro plate. While it was nothing spectacular, I enjoyed it and thought it was fine. The gyro plate came with rice, beans, and greens, but I felt that it could have had more beans, as I hardly had any on my plate. The spicy sauce they had to go with it was pretty good, and the meat was seasoned well. The service was prompt and friendly. Overall, this is a good place for a bite on the go, but I don't think I would choose it over a more authentic, sit-down establishment. read more

I always get the schwarma plate with tabouleh and hummus. Have to get the side of falafel. The food here is so flavorful and satisfying. A quick serve place with semi friendly service. read more

Best gyro and falafel we've ever had. Super moist and filled with flavor! Owner was so nice and welcoming giving us samples of the meats. Delicious! read more

On my never ending quest for Great Greek food here I decided to drop by for a quick lunch after sunflower market. A very weird experience. I asked for a pita with falafel, tzatziki, lettuce, tomato and feta. The server said "Oh you don't want tzatziki with falafel, it tastes really bad. Have the hummus on it instead." Since she worked here I said "ok" since I like them both the same anyway and maybe she knew something I didn't. I asked for a whole wheat pita and she seemed really put out. (I'm really trying to eat only good carbs) She pulled the pita out of a bag like you would get them from the market. I was kind of shocked because Med/Greek places usually pride themselves on their fresh baked pitas. It was really dry and fell apart! The falafel was a little weird too, like it was over cooked and dry in the middle although not unpleasant tasting. The hummus was not spectacular by any sense of the word. The funniest thing was I asked if they would put a little feta on it. She said and I quote "its a teeny bit more for feta" I said "How teeny is teeny?" I'm thinking 20 cents or so and she comes back with "75 cents" I said "Well that's 1/6 the price of the falafel sandwich and in my book not a "teeny bit" in comparison." So I passed on the feta thinking I'd take it home and put it on there. The Pita falafel sandwich was just ok. I really missed the tzatziki and really wished I didn't let some 14 year old who probably has never had REAL Greek food tell me how I like my food! I'm such a WIMP! I should have jumped over the counter and..... Anyway, I ate a bite at home and decided to make my own tzatziki to put on it. I really slathered it on! I also put on my own feta and saved a bundle! The dog only got the last bite because of the tzatziki save. Usually I feed him most of what don't care for, remember he'll eat anything! My Tzatziki recipe as follows: Real Greek yogurt (DO NOT get just plain yogurt. Whole paycheck, Wild Oats, and Sunflower carry it. It will be way too runny unless you get the real stuff. I use the 2%. Its only 130 cal for the whole cup.) 1/2 seeded and shredded (with a cheese grater) cucumber. Put the shavings on a paper towel and squeeze out the moisture. 1-2 cloves garlic minced through a mincer 1 tbsp lemon juice Dill weed to taste You can alter the amounts of everything to your taste. I LOVE garlic so It may be a "teeny" bit much for some.(I'm still cracking up over that one) Plan on eating a lot of this during ovulation if you want a natural form of great birth control! You will not have a date that night. Plan on sleeping alone. (your date will pull the" I suddenly have a big early morning meeting and have to leave" excuse.) Don't be scared to sleep alone either because Dracula will definitely stay far away. read more

Falafel, very good. Greek salad w/ chicken shawarma very good, but skimpy on the meat portion. Service not so good - slow, and disorganized. 4 workers could not move the line in any way other than slow. The wheat pita - dry, flaky - just plain bad. read more

Slightly below acceptable. Pita was dry and stale, meat was chewy and fatty and size was small. First and last time here. Maybe it was just a bad day. Oh well, I'll never find out for sure! read more

Great delicious vegan fare. Well I think they also have meat there. But there was enough yummy falafel and hummus and grape leaves to keep me happy. Good eats! read more

This place us great fresh ingedients, light and healthy. I noticed other reviewers complain about price - this is Pearl street - everything is expensive. Here you can get a great meal of chicken, hummus and lots of veggies for around $8. Just half a block away you pay that much for a sandwich only at Salvaggios and they don't have seating. read more

Had a bad time at falafel king. When I ordered a side plate of hummus they told me it would come with a pita. When I went to pay they only gave me the hummus without pita. I was charged extra and on top of that the pita was horrible. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Horrible service with just ok food read more

Staff was super friendly and food was ready so fast. Great portion sizes and plenty of vegetarian options. I wish i lived closer! Will definitely be returning! read more

Growing up my friend's dad would always tell me that Falafel King serves the abandoned cats of boulder in their gyros...I believed him for the longest time hahaha but this place is capable of serving an excellent gyro...consistency isn't their strong suit at least in the last year....the 4 times I visited were mediocre at times and yummy at times but twice I experienced burned to crunchy, tooth cracking gyro meat. This will do for a gyro craving but don't go out of your way for this place read more

Avner is an awesome host. Takes time to understand your appetite and order. Falafel is a 10/10. Service is 10/10. Freshness of food is 10/10. I can easily say this place is one of my Top places I have visited. read more

I love this place...I've never been to Colorado but I needed authentic vegetarian Arabic food. Try the rose water lemonade if you are there

I was annoyed with this place as soon as I saw it. Some random place I stumbled upon in Boulder CO has declared themselves the Kings of Falafel? Not likely. I go out of my way when I'm traveling to try new falafel places, I've been to hundreds, from Israel to Europe to the North America. If the place serves store-bought falafel, or makes them earlier in the day and lets them sit under a heat lamp, then forget it. Falafel was scooped from batter and dropped in the fryer before my eyes. I selected a couple sides, and I must say that the baba ghanoush was the best I have ever eaten. I was starting to think I didn't even like baba ghanoush. Falafel was great, although I wish they allowed the customer to specify a wide variety of toppings like most falafel bars. Kings of Falafel, maybe not, but certainly they've obtained the rank of Prince or Viscount. Highly recommended. read more

My professor at University of Michigan actually remembered this place from a visit about 10 years ago, so it's been around for awhile. A fantastic deal with fresh ingredients, this place is consistent and pretty tasty. Make sure to get one of the "bowls" or sandwiches to save some cash. I have been here about 20 times and it's always been good. read more

Forgot to review these guys a while back, so here goes. I'd have to say hannah E is pretty much right on. Sometimes it's awesome, and sometimes it's less awesome. Kind of like pizza and that certain activity that people share, even when it's bad, it's still kind of good. Anywho, once, I went and had the absolute best greek salad I've ever had. The stars were all aligned and it was fresh and delicious. Of course, this caused me to majorly crave that salad. Next time I went there, yes my expectations were very high, but I don't think it was odd of me to be grossed out by the large bug that was alive and roaming through my salad. I took it to the counter to show them said large offensive bug and the dude, took the bug out and said, sorry bout that. That was it, dude, give me a new fricking salad. Yes I should've been more assertive, but I was grossed out. Now, I will go back, just not as soon as I would've had that all gone down differently. read more

Finally! I've found a local falafel source! Service was friendly - get greeted with a smile, served with a smile, and walk out with a smile on your face. I ordered the lamb falafel with cucumber sauce to go - the servings were fulfilling enough for a quick bite, but the price might not equal the proportions in my opinion. But, then again the cost is in the league of a Subway/Quiznos sandwich. Located on Pearl Street Mall, this is a great pit stop while you're shopping or passing by. read more

Best falafel in Colorado! If you haven't tried it it's something you need to do. Great service, very lovely people work here. Also my personal favorite is the Turkish coffee!!! my fav place to eat in Boulder! read more

Came to Boulder, CO for a 36 hour vacation (if you can call it that). We stopped down famous Perl St. and came here for lunch. Lots of food for the money! Everything full of flavor. Stayed away from those fried balls for health reasons but that machine that made them automatically was pretty cool. Meat was shaved off the spit fresh for each sandwhich. Will certainly be back here next time we are in town. read more

I keep coming back here because it's really the only falafel place i know of. However I don't like the falafel all that much. They have a machine that pumps falafel balls into the frialator- very impersonal touch. The falafel balls are also tiny! Anyone that has had falafel made with care by people of actual middle eastern decent will agree with me. The pitas, gyros etc are good though but I most frequently get the greek supreme salad with falafel. Its the perfect amount of food and the tzaziki really hits the spot. I also like the choice of white or wheat pita. I keep coming back because it's a great alternative to sandwiches or mexican which is all there seems to be for a quick lunch in Boulder. Good and decently healthy food so you don't want to keel over and die with a stomach ache. Just be warned its down there for falafel quality, stick with the gyros. read more

Not very flavorful. Not very memorable in any way. We came due to the high ratings here and I must say that if you are craving chain restaurant mediterranean then stick with Garbanzo, a fabulous experience with properly marinated meat. read more

First off, I am literally drafting this review from the bathroom as this gyro I had yesterday is giving me stomach problems. Secondly, the three specials we purchased were advertised as $6.50 on a sign outside. We were charged $11 each, I said OK because their credit card machine broke and there wasn't time to do any math. I offered to go to an ATM and get cash to pay. After I handed over my $34, my party started to question why things cost so much. I went back in and talked to someone who looked like the owner. He acted like he knew nothing about the price posted outside, then informed me that the special was in fact $9 and if you get lemonadewith it, the price goes up to $10. If you add tax and some bad math, you get $34... the owner just said "close" and tossed me a soggy baklava. Owner: this is what you should have done: given me a discount for going to get cash. Posted the additional price of lemon aide. Not false advertise the price of the special. Not round your customers total price up by $3 in place of an old fashion refund. Not turn potential future customers into ex customers by being lazy and "right". read more

In town on business for the second time in as many months I saw this place last time but didn't have a chance to try it. Today they were passing out free samples so I tried...convinced I went in and ordered. I don't understand some of the bad reviews below. One guy complained about a Chicken Shawarma which they don't seem to even sell. And, interesting Yelp observance: many of the bad reviews for all places have something to do with them having to wait because it's busy. Geesh. Shut up. I ordered the Shawarma (which interestingly is turkey and lamb which I've never seen.) and hummus. One complaint about many mediterranean fast casual places: some serve their hummus without pita or not nearly enough pita. This is one of the places that serves theirs with none.. Why wouldn't someone want pita with their hummus? Okay now, for the taste. The hummus was really awesome with the pita bread I had to order. I had low expectations for the Shawarma but it also was awesome. Great flavor, not dry and large portion. Prices were right also. Good stuff! read more

I had the Greek salad with chicken breast as it was great. I recommend getting onions and hot sauce added and also a side of falafel. It took a little longer than I thought to make but it was well worth the wait. My friend had to falafel wrap and she liked that too. read more

Really amazing falafel! Super nice workers. Clean restaurant. Good place to stop for amazing food at a good price.

I came at a really quiet time so there was only one other customer. I was immediately offered a sample by the woman at the register. Good veggie options and delicious food. the bread was really dry and looks old.. i told the manager he changed my sandwich but 2 hours later i had a bad stomach pain & i throw up. my friends had the same issue before in Denver but i said their stomach might not be able to handle the falafel, but i will be fine i am Egyptian.. but guess what.. it was so bad that my strong stomach didnt handle it either. BTW i ate falafel sandwich with humos. i wont eat their again, it was a bad experience read more

Falafel King is a decent, fast, greek place. I had a very basic chicken kebab that they unfortunately had to redo because they forgot to leave the sauce off. But, she noticed before I had to tell her. So, they get a point there. A couple friends of mine go here regularly a like it. The chicken kebab was good. 3.5 stars for a quick and reasonable lunch. It looks like the line can get long at lunch time. read more
