Falafel sandwich plate

This is the best spot for authentic Mediterranean food at a very reasonable price considering the amount of food you get. The gyro meat is incredibly good and flavorful. Also love their falafels and wouldn't go anywhere else. The kataifi is incredible and their baklava is great as well. Located in a small strip mall and not the most assuming place at all with a small amount of parking spots in front. The inside is a grocery store selling all sorts of really cool foods from all over the Mediterranean. The owner always behind the counter is very kind. Love this place and have already gone here twice! There is a small table inside so taking out is the best way to go.

It might be because the store is not facing the busy 28th St (it's facing Bluff St), this market appears to be hidden from many people's eyes. But sometimes that is a good thing. When a business humbly exists, it means (in many cases) that they are genuine about their purpose: they simply want to serve the community in which they reside in. This market is not a fancy shore in any way either; it's there to serve the residents that truly appreciate and crave for Mediterranean foods/cuisines. It's either you want to buy ingredients so you can cook at home or need a quick bite to eat, this tiny place can offer the both options so conveniently/easily. The young man behind the counter was quiet but he smiled warmly to welcome my presence. The greeting doesn't have to be over the top. A subtle and yet warm acknowledgment is all it takes for me to feel welcomed. I was hungry for a late lunch. I wanted something not too heavy on my stomach but filling. And I wanted a little bit of everything, too. All of this led me to the Combo #5 which is a veggie plate. The little brochure menu the same young man gave me says the combo is $8 but it's now $10 on the menu board right above the deli counter. No big deal. Once I got my food and opened the container, I was shocked as to how generously portioned it was. The hummus, baba ghanoush, 3 pieces of dolma, tabouli, 2 pieces of falafel, and a huge pita bread were all beautifully put together in it. Goodness gracious! "Am I eating all this on my own?" was something I uttered with a gasp! And this was (like I said) only $10. If you ate something like this at a restaurant it'd easily be $15 in this day and age when things are on the rapid rise due to the unprecedented inflation. Gosh, we need more of those markets especially in Denver!! If this market was in my neighborhood, I would go there at least once a week.

That being said, it is a real shame they have not followed the lead of a major national competitor and removed the sale of cigarettes from their supposed health oriented business plan. They have filled all three levels of this former bookstore facility. The basement level is the vitamin, supplements, first aid and quasi medical supplies that you would find in other chains, offering both national brands and private store brands. Plenty of sizes available which seems to be a failing of the big groceries and discount box stores. There is no prescription pharmacy at this location. Being adjacent to campus, they are serving a population that generally receives University healthcare which includes their own, and very affordable pharmacy. The main level still sells CU gear as before along with school supplies, tech accessories and gift items. There is a grocery section including refrigerated and freezer cases of convenience foods. The upper mezzanine level includes beauty, personal care and household cleaning supplies. On opening day, there was plenty of staff and checkouts on the main floor and the mezzanine. I doubt they will maintain so much staff unless they attract a larger number of customers. The prices are higher than you would find at a destination big box but if you sign up for rewards membership, it becomes far more competitive. This is true of all such health chains. Today my member savings was over $8. Get rid of the cigarettes and I will go up a star!

Parking immediately north of the building, but limited. Easy access from campus via a nearby pedestrian underpass and adjacent to a RTD stop (Broadway & College). Thankful for Karen, who was so helpful when i was shopping on the top floor.

He has done this for decades and has strong taste presences. Trader Joe's is a wonderful resource especially for CA grown nuts. I am not much of a fan of the store's other products as I learned during some living time in CA when this company was dominant in the town we lived. Prepackaged veggies and fruits don't suit me, nor does processed frozen items. But they sure are the king of nuts. They have many forms of each where appropriate. Roasted or not, salted or not. Today we bought dry roasted and salted almonds, CA premium walnut halved and organic dry roasted and salted cashews. Sadly we forgot to check if their CA Thompson seedless raisins ( sun dried) were back in stock. You won't find better anywhere. For general groceries , my favorite store is just around the corner and my favorites for brand name product is in South Boulder. What these 3 stores have in common is quality products in the categories I use them for, exceptional staff and store cleanliness. We'll go back soon for the raisins.

There's not much that's low-sodium, for example, like you'd find in a larger grocery store. I was going there for the frozen veggies, which makes life easy with busy kid- schedules. Not always time to pick up fresh produce on the way home. TJs frozen veggies were reliably better than anywhere else. They had really sweet peas, as sweet as sweet corn, that burst in your mouth. Lately, the peas are so dry and tough-skinned they're inedible. The broccoli florets are woody. There have been times over the years they were out of certain frozen veggies, and that seemed disappointing, but it was better then buying a bunch and thinking I had them to feed the kids, but then finding all we had was inedible. The broccoli has been woody for a couple months at least. We stopped buying that, and stocked up on the peas, but now they're gross. Since I went for the frozen veggies (and would just pick up anything else that worked for us there), we don't really have any reason to go unless they get that straightened out. Somebody please give me a heads up if it changes again!

I have to admit, this store favorite is a bit of a mess right now with a large remodel underway…read more But please know, many longtime staff members are keeping track for you to help find what you feel has gotten loss. Some items are now where they should as have been, like peanut butter is now next to jam and jelly jars rather than applesauce and baby disposable diapers! Who ever thought up that choice? But now all the chicken is in sealed packages rather than the fresh case. The staff has offered to open a package to sell only a smaller amount but I wonder how likely they will have time for this? A loss for me as I only buy for two people most of the time. Another change is that the olive bar is stand alone and no longer dished out into containers to grab and go. Much more chance of contamination from a different item from another bin. I still prefer this store for many things though both of the smaller Whole Foods location have a usefulness too. The previous in store location of Birdcall is now gone the the free standing location at Twenty Ninth Street Mall is still open and has seating a parking better than when it served here. It's nice to see staff members still working here for 20 years but also nice that some turnover happens for new energy too. When the remodel is done I will be back with pictures and an evaluation from a shopper's point of view.
