I shopped this store when I first came to Boulder as I lived quite close to it. But as more and more supermarkets sprung up around town and I moved from this neighborhood I shopped elsewhere in bigger more modern stores. Even when I needed an item specific to Safeway, I used the larger more modern one on Baseline. This wee we were looking for a special product for a drink we like. Brand matters as others we have used are not as mellow. Earlier today we had stopped at another chain where we had bought it last time. And they were sold out as was their On a whim I tried this one and went to the likely location and still did not see it even though listed in stock less than an hour ago. A staff member was workin a few feet away so I asked him. He showed me where and it was almost in front of me but way inside to the back of the shelf. Very few left. We decided to take two today since it is flying off shelves apparently. This store is much as I remembered. It is not well ventilated so it always has the odor of what is cooking. It has a claustrophobic feel. But, I thank the pleasant staff member for helping so quickly and I am pleased they actually had an accurate inventory online. read more

I stopped shopping at the Safeway about a decade ago , because every single time I shop there I had to go to customer service and get some kind of a refund because there was an item that rang up incorrectly . I had to go to Quest Diagnostics today , so I thought well as long as I'm in the store I'll give it another try . Big mistake . Of course everything is nice it's Safeway it's clean, the produce section is beautiful, so there's that. But today my receipt was $17 off , meaning I had to go to the customer service desk and get $17 put back on my credit card because of things that rang up improperly. Granted, these were items that had a digital coupon and my Safeway app would not scan those items . But I told the Checker right away and he assured me that I had been given the correct price . Still that was not true and I had to go to the customer service desk . When I went to the customer service desk . I believe it was a manager that took care of me , and he promptly refunded my money , but when I tried to vent a little about how this always happens, he kept cutting me off and wouldn't even let me speak . He said wow I can really fix mistakes quick, and I said yeah but I shouldn't have to come to this customer service desk every time I shop here . Anyway, I guess this is where I get to vent . I told my husband a decade ago , if I ever try to go to Safeway stop me . I guess I need to remind him of that again. read more

Checked online to make sure they were open before I went in, they were. But I start walking in and the manager yelled at us and the other customers "store is closed go away!" as he angrily blocked the front doors, even though they're supposed to be open until 11pm. read more

This business is open and going the extra mile to keep customers safe. An employee or security member is at the door at all times ensuring all that enter wear masks. They also remind folks at checkout to keep their distance from each other and keel their mouth/noses covered. The store is well stocked (tho the toilet paper section is close to empty like most other stores). Bagels are individually packaged in the bakery ensuring you can still get your carb fix. Donuts are available per each upon request. The freezer aisle doors are continuously wiped down and the self check out employees are nearby and ready to help. While the staff have been available and friendly they are not able to process returns or exchanges during covid. Tho I understand their policy I was disappointed to be told I couldn't get a replacement lemon - as mine had grown mold in in 1.5 days. As far as variety the larger sister store about a mile north offers much more. If you are looking for top 12 allergen free treats I would not recommend this store (to note, no dairy free & nut free ice creams, only sherbet). I'll definitely be back in soon. read more

Customer service at this particular location sucks, badly. I dropped in on a Sunday morning at 9 AM to grab a cup of coffee at the Starbucks counter while I was headed out of town. The restrooms were locked with a sign to ask for assistance from customer service. I stood in line at customer service with another customer for about 10 minutes until somebody finally showed up. She seemed annoyed that I was asking to use the restroom, and without a smile, or anything, paged someone to unlock the door to the restroom. I then waited by the door for about another 10 minutes and nobody ever showed up, went back to customer service and again nobody was at the counter. read more

AVOID. At all costs. If you do find yourself here, make it a short trip and only use self checkout. I've given this checkout lady the benefit of the doubt for over a year. She will never fail to make your day worse no matter how bad it already started it will be worse when you check out with her. I'm not sure why this Safeway is rated so low, but it's pretty much the same as any other Safeway. The produce here isn't as great as the Safeways in California, but maybe that's not a fair comparison. I grabbed some vegetables and fruits, and they had salmon at $6/pound on sale! That was pretty great. The strawberries I got were hard but they didn't have much flavor. Good amount of parking and I like the self checkout! read more

I still end up in this dump (Arapahoe & 28th) sometimes because it's a fairly easy bus ride. But last time I was there and was checking out, I couldn't even find a clean spot on the conveyor belt to put my groceries. The checker said the belts were cleaned "every morning". ONCE a day?! GROSS!!! They may as well not even bother. The belt was COVERED in spills and who knows what. Then she said she couldn't help me bag my groceries because I had brought my own bags. It's a safety precaution during the pandemic - EXACTLY why I would think they'd clean their conveyor belts more than ONCE a day. They also used to have three electric carts for disabled shoppers. They were stolen one by one and never replaced. That's how much Safeway cares about the disabled. Why couldn't I have lived closer to a King Soopers? read more

Even though it is the law for a business this size, they close their restrooms for events. The manager told us "both of the restrooms are backed up". Which is bs cause an employee told us otherwise. Even if you buy 6 sandwiches and drinks, they will refuse you access to the bathroom. And won't let you use the employer restroom (even though colorado law says a business this size that sells food must allow this) state of colorado, you should talk to the woman manager who was on duty july second at 3pm why they are breaking the law. If you can't provide a restroom for customers, you can't open your business. Using a restroom is a HUMAN RIGHT! read more

Really fucking horrific annoying experience. The bathrooms at this location are locked. Someone has to come open them for you. I asked an employee if she was able to unlock the bathrooms and she said she would get her manager. I don't know what people are going on about. I've seen multiple posts about things switching locations and employees being extremely unhelpful. Meanwhile, I've been going here for over a year now, while selection isn't as large as a larger store, because... well it should be obvious that size dictates selection, they have only noticeably rearranged once since I began shopping. Absolutely terrible. Walked around for 20 minutes looking for an employee and when I finally found one, he just half heartedly pointed me in a direction (that ended up being incorrect). Then had to hunt down another employee who tried to do the same and I had to specifically ask her to physically show me where my desired product was. Just an awful experience today. Stopped by for just a few items that I was able to quickly find. However checking out was a different story. Though the store was fairly busy there was but 1 full service lane. As much as I hate them I opted for the self checkout. It started badly as the machine hung up immediately because I had my own bag - most places this may make sense, but come on it is Boulder, the hippies love to bring their own bags and if you do not you are taxed $.10 a bag. From there it was downhill - there were 2 other times that the machine hung up - each with wait times of a few minutes. We were told by the single guy working 8 self-checkout lanes that they were way understaffed. So the tally - $35 spent, 9 items purchased, 5 minutes shopping, (all great by the way ) 15 minutes checking out - completely unacceptable! read more

I used to avoid this Safeway at all costs, but after the renovation it's so nice! When I worked close to this location we were here nearly every day just to pick up a few things. Even now, it's a convenient stop on the way to or from school. Also, gotta love the Starbucks inside! read more

The middle size of the three Boulder Safeways, this location has a so so stock. They have a kind of lame selection of organic produce, although there is more around than you think. It's just hidden in multiple different areas and displays. Very poorly organized. The selection of other natural items or staples in general are for the most part more expensive than other big box stores. I have had trouble finding the exact items I need at this Safeway location many times. Sometimes they are just out and other items they have just chosen not to carry. A few positives though. They have a huge bank of self service registers so you rarely have to wait in line for them. The store is never very bus though so they don't need this many. The scale on these where you put your items in bags is very low and annoying if you are taller. Few great items here that beat the competition: great daily made French bread, great ready to bake pizza dough (although it is often frozen for some reason so buy a day early to thaw). read more

this place/people working at it are so incredibly spaced out, it's pathetic. With all the educated people in Boulder, where do they find these folks? went in to get a few things, the place was basically empty, the registers on self service would NOT work, I would scan an item, and it would freeze and then say "you will be assisted", or 'help is on the way" or something to that effect. The guy working there then transferred me and my items to a lane and an actual cashier. That bumbler messed up like 5 items during the check out, and then somehow, I was charged my amount 4 TIMES! I was checking my bank account for another reason when I got home, and there were the four pending transactions,l I called the store and some fool( sorry and i do mean a fool) told me to come in at 6 a.m. and I would be helped, she mentioned the accountant's name and said she would be in at 6 a.m. and also proceeded to ask me my schedule , etc.. I told her i had to work the next day and she went on asking, when? where? and kept repeating that I should come in at 6:a.m. on Sunday morning, I kept telling her I could not do that, and asked when a manager would be in to speak to, she changed her tune pretty quick, she was a blithering idiot? Finally she said she "wasn't sure if the person she mentioned was going to be in, she stuttered and said to call to find out if a manager would be there to help me, this was after asking me at least 9 times about my own schedule for that Sunday and assuring me to come in for help at 6:00am. I finally concluded after asking her many times to repeat what she told me, why she told me what she did., she couldn't say, and i told her that she didn't know what she was saying? it took weeks to figure this all out and it .. it over drew my account. avoid this store, the other safeways are way better .. the place looks dirty as well. read more
