I really like how they have a cool machine which portions the falafel then plops it into the oil to cook. Its cool to know its made fresh. I also really loved that they ask if you want hummus on the pita, it is really a great addition all pita places should ask. Didn't love how much greens came on the pita, but I could easily pick off the stuff I didn't want. Also, the rosewater lemonade was divine. So refreshing and different. read more

Such a great little place. There a quite a few options and everything we had was absolutely delicious. Their falafel is to die for and there hummus is great. i had never been to falafel king before, as i tend to avoid pearl street like the plague... but after discovering that hungrybuffs.com had added it to their online ordering section, i gave them a try and was pleasantly pleased. i got a greek salad with grilled chicken, marinated mushrooms, some hummus, and a slice of baklava. everything came in really cute little tupperware type things, which i am totally going to wash out and keep. the salad was really good. while a salad is a salad is a salad, there are not many places via hungrybuffs that deliver "good" ones. not only was the size surprising (pretty substantial), but the chicken was really flavorful and nicely charred. the greens consisted of mixed leaves (including spinach)- which kind of rocks. the only bummer was that the dressing that came with it were two small cups of a red thing and what im guessing was tzatziki. like, i "get it" and all, but im just partial to greek vinaigrettes- so i just used my own in the fridge. no big deal at all and not worth being put off about. the marinated mushrooms were not what i expected them to be (i was thinking full mushroom caps), but again- not a big deal. they were sliced and served with tons of celery and red peppers. i just tossed them onto my main salad. the hummus was okay. it wasnt amazing but didnt fail. same with the pita. the baklava was sort of a small slice, but ive only ever had it once elsewhere, and dont know what a "proper piece of baklava" should look like. it was good though! like i totally give this place a B. they have more intricate dishes on their menu, and i will totally try some kind of gyro situation next time. read more

Decent middle eastern food on pearl street with a comparable price. The 6x4 mezze was tasty. But the babaganoush was some of the best I've ever had. Next time I would order a large one by itself. I was working in Boulder last week,and stopped in with my co-worker. They do have a great selection of pitas and wraps. I had the falafal pita with french fries. I think it was just about average or just ok. The falafal flavor didn't really impress me, and my food was somewhat cold--like they could've have timed it better. They did have a decent tizitki sauce and the fries were so-so. This was kinda a different day considering I was in Boulder for work but I really had better expectations. Yes this is the pearl street mall which is pretty much a tourist trap but I still thought this place would be good. I will visit Boulder again, but I'm pretty much sure I won't be back . read more

We love coming to the mall, ordering up some great food here and sitting at the tables outside to people watch while we enjoy our falafels and gyros. Love the food, good price, right near work. Love that I am vegan and can get a good full meal there. I only gave the place 3 stars though because the owner seems very arrogant. When I was there he was rude to a new employee and she was trying very hard I could tell. I've seen him be this way to his employees before. He also seems to treat different customers in different ways - the pretty ladies, people he knows well he's nice but the others he acts like he's doing you a favor to take your order. Falafel King makes consistently high-quality food. I'm a big fan of their falafel, hummus, and dolmas in particular. I try other Mediterranean restaurants around town, some of which are quite good, but overall the food's just a bit better at Falafel King. It can be hectic ordering from their Pearl Street location at lunch, although the same is true for most restaurants in that area. But it's fast and delicious. Falafel King lets you try their falafel for free and are just extra nice about it. Once you place an order they proceed to fry new falafel and fresh food tastes way better than the samples. My wife and I just went to Falafel King while we were in Boulder for the day. While not anything special, the food was okay. However, the restaurant was filthy. The floor in the entrance had not been mopped in ages, with a thick layer of grime. There were multiple flies in the room that I had to keep swatting from my food and that were also landing on the "fresh" salad ingredients behind the counter. Dingy interior that looks like a run-down taco joint. great concept but I did not see them shaving the meat fresh off the skewer but instead pulling it from a bunch of meat sitting on the grill staying hot. I ended up with really dry pieces of meat and some had burnt edges. no plans to eat here again. read more

Well, I was in a line with about three other groups. It took suprisingly long to get through the line but I can partly blame the nit picky customers who were in front of me. The only thing that really put me off was how I could automatically tell what their cleanliness standards are. Ok. I mean, they would probably pass health inspection but I really like it when I can be confident about the health standards. Just by looking behind the counter and seeing how there main-line is... not impressed. I was very happy with the range of vegan to carnivore dishes. I got the falafel wrap and it seemed a bit pricy but was definitely tasty. It was much like one that I had made through purchasing Falafel King items at my local grocery store so theres that. So, in a nutshell. It seems to me that they serve some pretty tasty stuff. Thats about the only good thing about this place. Cleanliness is (and should be!!!) very important.
