Winter Harvest salad, Carrot bisque (soup of the day)
    Melissa S.

All the flavors - so scrumptious! We had the Carrot bisque soup (exceptional), Winter Harvest salad (the candied pecans lightly roasted & crispy -heaven!), the gyro (superb) and the spanakopita with ratatouille... so flaky & yummy! The drinks (Violet 75-outstanding) were professionally mixed with just the right sweetness & dryness. The service was also wonderful - very attentive and They even asked about the timing of our dishes coming out to ensure we weren't rushed. Great atmosphere too with olive trees, rustic decor... it was like we were in Crete! We will be back!

Red Cedar Bistro is conveniently located in central Longmont. Park in the parking lot behind the building in the public parking lots along Kimbark for convenience. We did not have a reservation but we were seated promptly because we were very early on a Friday evening. The decor is rustic and spare, and there are many tables in the large open space. We were immediately approached by a waitress and ordered a cocktail which was delicious and arrived quickly. We ordered an appetizer and enjoyed the shrimp very much! I am ecstatic to find authentic Mediterranean food near by! The food was outstanding! We really enjoyed our romantic dinner.

This restaurant is super cute on the inside. You feel like you are transported into a cozy and relaxing atmosphere from the moment you step in. The staff are all friendly and so thoughtful too. My party of 3 was offered an extra appetizer on the house when we visited and it did not disappoint (baked brie in phyllo dough melted in our mouths). All of the food was fresh and unique too! I tried the mushroom truffle crepe, while my friends ordered a grain bowl and the chicken sandwich, along with their soup of the day. I wish I lived in town so I could come here more often! 10/10 will go back next time I'm in the area.

Solid B grade. I'm assuming they are a new restaurant as they seem overwhelmed and slightly unpolished. I enjoyed the sausage and pepper sandwich. Good, but dry. A side of sauce would have been great. Side salad Ceasars was unremarkable in every way. Again the service is spotty. Customers around me seemed to be enjoying a lot of wine and craft cocktails, some smoked tableside. I would try it again while visiting Longmont. Not sure about desert as it wasn't offered

So if you are new to this place, I would grab a menu and take a seat somewhere before ordering, if you haven't had a chance to look at the menu. My husband and I wanted to get a wide array of what was on the menu but we opted for the loaded street cart fries with a mix of sweet potato and regular fries and the OG gyro with beef and lamb mix. Because I wanted to try the chicken gyro I got the mixed meat for my street cart fries. They accidentally forgot to put it on my fries so I got it as a side. The food was really good, especially the sweet potato fries with a side of garlic aïoli. The fries inside of the gyro were pretty good, but I would but felt it was overloaded by other flavors. I also got a drink of a passionfruit Mezcal, which was nice and smoky. Overall, I would come back to the spot, but it is definitely not an everyday spot due to price point. It was around $52 for the two entrees, the drink and tip.

For context, you can pick out what you want in your bowl, similarly to Waikiki poke, or Chipotle for example. When you first make your plate, you can ask for pita- I asked the staff member for pita, and was ignored. I had to repeat myself multiple times. When I got to the vegetable section where you can pick five for a plate, I asked for the village salad and was ignored once again as the second staff member proceeded to give me tomatoes. I just asked for lettuce and onions as a replacement for the village salad. I made the mistake of asking one more time about the pita- and the person checking me out responded with a look of disgust? I proceeded to ask one more time. No apology or frankly some sort understanding. I asked for the name of the people working- should've asked for a manager because this staff member proceeded to lecture me about giving bad reviews, and called me weird multiple times. I was flabbergasted, did not know what to say so I left after paying. Holy moly. I was asked multiple times if I knew it was extra for add ons I asked for. I confirmed the first time, but was asked multiple times afterwards. Honestly the reason why I like the plate is because I can add on extra protein and still have room for veggies, etc. I also get extra hummus with my meal and am aware and have happily paid the surcharge. I enjoyed this place so much! I'm going to come back because the quality is wonderful, however if I see these individuals working, I will walk out and choose somewhere else to eat. Thanks the simple Greek for a great lunch! Lost my appetite after the unprofessional costumer service I experienced. However I was able to pass on the meal to a person who enjoyed the quality food.

I was handed a menu and gave a few mins to look it over. I asked if they had Gyro sandwiches. The lady assured me they did, and then I inquired about the Greek salads. I asked if one was big enough to share with my husband. I was told they were pretty small and should get one for each of us. I placed my order of two gyro sandwich's, two Greek salads and one baklava to go. I paid and had a seat. I waited about 18 mins for my food. I was starting to get concerned because after all I was the only one in there, and I just ordered two sandwiches and two salads. Finally....it came out, she quickly bagged it and I took it and left (my fault). I normally check the food before leaving. I get out to my car and something is telling me I should check my order....two very large Greek salads, and each one could have fed 4 people. And then I opened the container expecting to see a sandwhich in each. Nope it was just a pile of meat. No pita, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no tzatziki sauce. I went back in....asked if I got someone else's order they said no. And I explained my confusion with what I got. They quickly took the meat and made them in to sandwiches and renter Ed them to me. I didn't get any money back or anything else said to me. Just sent me on way. Now on to the actually meal. The salad was just okay. They had black olives and not calamari olives on the salad and it just wasn't the best. The gyros were decent - but making meat. I don't think they put all the meat on the sandwhich that was in that container. If I needed to pay more, I would have. Bill was around $48 when it was said and done + a 8 tip I had already given them. Unfortunately I don't think I will be back.

Lately, when I get hungry I tend to think of this cuisine. As if to say that I was led to it by some invisible force, like a magnet, I made a u turn to get on the east bound lane to rush to it. A small restaurant but on the outside, I sensed some authenticity. After taking a few photos of its exterior, I stepped inside with high anticipation. On Yelp, it's got a solid 4-star rating left by the past diners/takeouters. Sounds promising. A young lady upfront said a quick hi followed by a question "For here or to-go?" to which I said "to-go. The menu has a good selection of both small (appetizer) plates to entrees. Their menus are somewhat fancy booklet style. Depending on the item, there are some accompanying photos of them. I wanted at least a few items so I went with 1) Fava Beans ($9 from the Appetizer section) and 2) Vegetarian Lovers Combo ($17 from the Entree section.) And for the next 45 min (from Boulder to Denver) on a beautiful mid Sunday afternoon, I had go through a very agonizing time smelling the mouthwatering smell of the two dishes while I was fighting the traffic jam caused by an accident on 36. Once I was home though, I wasted no time to savor the two dishes. And this is how my early dinner went: 1) Fava Beans - this dish could utilize more seasoning. It's a little bland or I should say boring. On the positive note, it does taste clean and healthy. I do like simple in many cases where I abhor something that's oversalted. That said, this dish pass my taste test. At the same time, it's definitely not something I highly recommend. 2) Vegetarian Lovers Combo - I can comfortably say that this is a solid dish. There are two falafels that are triangular shaped (never seen them shaped like that). Both baba ghonouj and hummus are in the top two compartments portioned generously. In the main compartment, house salad, rice and tabbouleh are beautifully and carefully placed. One large pita bread that was cut in half was in a piece of foil separately so it wouldn't get soggy. Oh let's not forget, there was one grape leaf on top of the tabbouleh which I saved it for the last. When I finally ate it, I realized that this is/was the star item of the whole combo plate. I've eaten super oily grape leaves that are too soggy in oils but this was perfectly moist and yet not oily. Small and yet it was dense inside. Wish the plate came with two of them. A little suggestion I would like to make to the restaurant (so I hope the restaurant owner read this!!) These two dishes lasted for three meal occasions until dinner time next day. The value for the total price of $23 (before tax) is pretty hard to beat in this high inflation time especially in a city like Boulder. To me, this is a solid 4-star experience.
