    Shawarma Sandwich
    Tanni D.

I liked this place when I tried it for the first time this fall, but my recent visit was disappointing. The female cashier was clearly overwhelmed - handling orders, packing, and interacting with customers - and her frustration showed in her attitude toward both customers and colleagues. The shop was moderately busy when I ordered a shawarma sandwich and paid an extra $8 for hummus and seaweed as sides. After a long wait, I received only the sandwich, which I noticed once I drove back home. The cashier's unfriendly demeanor made me hesitant to go back and address the mistake, especially since I don't live nearby. The sandwich tasted mediocre compared to the first time I had it. With so many great shawarma restaurants in Atlanta offering better service, I won't be returning here.

A strong 4 for this Mediterranean dive just off the Emory campus. Expect a line, it's a small joint with few interior seats and a few outdoor tables. It's 95% takeout which works perfectly for its base. I went twice on consecutive days with friends. It was overrun by students who adore them. Fast service at a fair price and it helps to have a delicious product which I can vouch for. I had the shawarma both times with their only desert baklava. I also added dumplings. The counter service is fast! So be ready to order and step aside once complete. It's kinda like a Seinfeld episode of the Soup Nazi if you've seen. Any regulars will get it. The whole operation appears to be family run by Asians. The food was delicious! Most rave about their in-house sauce which is on the hot side in my opinion. Unfortunately no option for tzatziki sauce which I would have preferred. Wow on the dumplings. The baklava.is not in house but respectable and I enjoyed. Do not miss this college dive. Not gourmet, just solid Mediterranean fare at a reasonable price point. Parking is behind the building.

falafel king is an absolute staple of a restaurant. a trip to atlanta is not complete without making a stop here for a quick meal. their prices are absolutely fair, and the quality of the food is truly spectacular and consistent each time. the family that owns this place is very kind and so diligent with preparing your food. my absolute favorite is the chicken shawarma sandwich, which comes with tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, and a side of spicy mayo sauce (which is absolutely necessary to complete this already tasty sandwich). ringing up at around $8.50 after tax, you're not gonna find a better meal nearby. as an emory alumna, I am so sad to have graduated and won't have the chance to stop by at this small shop anymore. will miss this place!

Fusion is not something that is often executed well in many places. This one is an exception! Japanese twist on a Falafel sandwich? The food is fresh! Shawarma well seasoned but not overwhelming and falafel simply taste great! It's a quick bite off Emory campus and a little gem in a sea of corporate fast food. Highly recommended and try the Baklava (bonus points for not being overly sweet).

I love this place for an easy pick up when on the Emory campus! Conveniently located in Emory village, falafel king has great and affordable food just across the street from Emory. The workers here are really friendly, even when the restaurant is really busy, and they do a great job making sure that people are served in a timely manner. That being said, because of its popularity among college students it can take a long time to get food if you come during the lunch rush. There's also limited indoor seating, and a picnic table outside. It can be loud with a ton of people standing around, so it's much better for to go. The food itself is pretty good! They serve falafel, chicken shawarma, plus a spicy mayo which is a huge draw. They also have Asian cuisine. I've only ever had the dumplings (veggie only) and they're great.

Falafel King is my favorite restaurant near Emory. I always get the Mixed sandwich with shawarma and falafel. The sauce is one of the best parts!! Very filling. Service is fast, food is fresh and affordable, and the staff is super friendly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Small parking lot. Walking distance to campus.

A must have when you're in Emory Village! The service is quick and the food is well priced! (There's usually sushi on the menu, but they don't have any at the moment). I ordered a falafel sandwich which was the perfect size for me! It came with their signature red spicy sauce which was SO delish. Everything was super fresh and warm. I also got a side of hummus and pita which was super tasty. Would recommend this place to anyone who's in the area :) There is no in-door dining, but they do have a few tables outside where people can sit.

Located in Emory Village, it's a short walk from campus and offers some of the best falafel I've had! I think the most interesting thing about this place is that it usually also offers sushi. We ordered pick up and were greeted by a sweet Asian couple who had our food ready to go! I ordered the mixed sandwich which comes with both chicken shawarma and falafel. It also has this spicy Mayo type of sauce that comes with it that definitely has a kick but pairs so well with the sandwich. The chicken was moist and the falafel was crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The sandwich was packed to the brim and I literally only had that with no sides and I was perfectly content. My dinner was literally only $7!! If you're looking for an affordable and delicious option during the day definitely stop by. I highly recommend!

My boyfriend took me to this place a couple of months ago, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. We visited again today! The sandwich with the spicy mayo is a simple, but delicious meal that is actually quite filling. The pita bread contains shawarma and falafel, with cubes of tomato and cucumber. My boyfriend got the mixed plate, also with shawarma and falafel, with dumplings and hummus on the side. I would recommend if you are looking for a quick and inexpensive meal. The place is small, with limited seating. There's is limited parking as it shares a parking lot with other businesses. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick. I can't wait to visit again!

The service has always been really great, and the owner is genuinely nice and always ready for a pleasant conversation. But sometimes the food comes out... average at best? I really only come here when I have the taste for mediterranean fare but don't feel like cooking it since it's so nearby. There are some things they do well. I like their baba ganoush, hummus, and beet salad. But other things are a bit lackluster and the meats can be a hit or miss. Sometimes it's dry, other times it's succulent. The pita is toasted, but you can surely tell it isn't made fresh. My husband is obsessed with wings and even he said the wings served here are a BIG no. Also cannot recommend the fries, as they've been notoriously dry and cold. Perhaps we should not have expected good wings given that it's primarily mediterranean fare lol. The parking situation is also abysmal. They share a really small lot and the individual spots are poorly marked. This place is off of Briarcliff and the traffic is notorious for being bad, so that makes coming and going that much harder in a lot that's already a little treacherous. When the parking lot is full, it is like playing 2-ton Tetris. I'll also note that the hours can sometimes be a suggestion, and they unexpectedly close earlier than indicated (but will leave a handwritten note). This place seems to be a local favorite. The prices are nice. I just wish it was more reliable with taste and quality.

There was a sign right at the door that says something like, just walk right in. I would say this place is a fast casual restaurant. Not a lot of diners when we came on Friday night but had tons of take out orders. As we were seated, water and menu were dropped off at our table. I didn't get a chance to look at the full menu but felt rushed to order. Luckily, I had already looked at the menu before arriving. I ordered the spritz with a fruity twist (forgot what it was called but if you like aperol spritz, then this is for you) and my husband, a Paloma. We ordered a trio dip with charred baba ganoush, feta, and cauliflower that was served with some fresh pita bread. This was a great start to our meal and wanted more. I ordered the eggplant bowl with both lettuce and rice. Yall, the fries that were served must have been fried twice because it was crispy and saucy. Would definitely get this again, plus it was super filling. My husband ordered the falafel bowl with lettuce, and he did enjoy this as well. My only gripe is that the "bowl" is more of a platter? Food was certainly delicious and drinks were good. I like going to a restaurant that anticipates your needs, but this didn't do it for me. Our water was empty for awhile and we didn't get offered any until we were heading out. But nevertheless, this is a great spot for yummy food on the beltline.

We came in an hour before close so I'll take the blame here -- going to any restaurant an hour before close is basically asking for the scraps of the day LOL. Husband enjoyed his beef shawarma plate and all the side fixings (a salad and hummus) which was quite a lot in quantity. Good value for food is definitely here. It took about $30 to feed two, including a lil dessert and a side order of baba ganoush and pita. The pita wasn't my favorite. But the baklava was a yummy finish. I'd definitely be here more if I lived in the area. I appreciate that they stay open a little later than a lot of comparable Mediterranean spots.

There was indoor and outdoor seating and we chose to sit outside as it was a beautiful night. We had amazing service, great food, in a really cute neighborhood. We were especially impressed with the staff, and we had a member come out more than once to check with one of the people dining with us who had food allergies to ensure that how they were offering the food would be safe for her. It was also impressive that this restaurant was so busy on a Monday night. There were three of us dining, and we didn't even order any of the meats, and there was plenty of food for us. From the Mazzes, we had the Omani Shrimp, which had a great dipping sauce and the Beet Carpaccio. (they were very accommodating and put the whipped feta on the side). For the Spreads, we did the hummus with mushroom, shisito and egg, which was amazing and the labneh with pickled fennel on the top. It's served with taftoun bread which I would describe as a mix of a cracker and pita with sesame on top. We also enjoyed a raw vegetable dish with radish and the most delicious apple slices. Their heirloom tomato salad was beautifully presented and plentiful. They had a flight of condiments and we were able to sample zhoug, spicy tahina and torshi, which was a mixture of pickled vegetables. We ended with a pistachio lava cake with the most delicious cardamon gelato. Overall, we had an amazing meal in their beautiful outdoor space, and we thought the food was really reasonably priced. The dim lighting offered a great blend of intimacy and privacy, while still letting me see the people at my table and the food! And the food! My goodness, the food! We had a wonderful sampling of shared appetizers. The hummus and Dill labneh were solid and would have been deemed more than worthy by my Lebanese grandmother! Olives were a revelation, and were done in a preparation that included pomegranate which paired really well with the brine of the olives! The star of the first round, however, was the whole cauliflower, roasted and spiced. Without reservation, I can say it is the most I have ever enjoyed cauliflower - and I shall return for it again! Problem is that I don't like to drive the distance via the highway. Luckily my cousin is here and he was willing to drive. It was a Thursday night and we thought we'd try to avoid the evening rush hour traffic. It was still busy but we made it. This location is right by the 715 Peachtree Parking Garage and the restaurant does validate parking. We went in about 7:30 pm and it wasn't crowded. We waited for the one waitress before she told us to sit anywhere. I knew what I wanted because of past experience and finding a menu online. I let my cousin know that all of the food is good and their portions are huge. I got the Greek Combo and he got the lamb skewers with a salad. I also ordered the Dolmades as an appetizer. The Dolmades came out fairly quickly with a side of warm pita quarters. The combination of the two was yummy! It wasn't too long after that our entrees came. My cousin's salad came soon after the entrees were delivered. It came in a bowl on a larger plate with dressing on the side. As he was trying to pick out the cucumbers because of allergies, things were falling out, so I suggested he out the contents on the plate. The salad covered the plate and was high. I must have misread what was in the combo because as I started to eat, there was spanakopita, pastitio and then I found the eggplant for the moussaka. I thought the combo was moussaka and pastitio only. As I said, the portions were huge. It also comes with green beans and rice or Greek potatoes I got the potatoes. I barely made a dent in my order, it was definitely filling. My cousin had 2 large skewers with rice and green beans. He too had a huge portion with rice and green beans. We both had to ask for boxes the take our food home. Our waitress asked if we wanted dessert so we asked what they had. I remember that the Norcross location had a large display case with cakes, baklava and cheesecake. They only had three choices to offer---baklava, Greek cheesecake and another Greek dessert. I chose the baklava for my cousin and I to split and a box to take 1/2 home. We shared the 1/2 and that was plenty for the 2 of us. I don't remember if there was music playing in the background, but because it wasn't crowded, my cousin and I could have a nice conversation and feel comfortable. Our waitress was attentive, making sure our drinks were refilled. When we first came in, I let her know I missed having the Norcross location because it was convenient for me, but I understand why they closed to maintain the one location. She had worked at the Norcross location for 6 years with the waitress who I always had when I went in. I think she was actually one of the owners. If it wasn't so far to get to for me, I'd go more frequently. For those who go to the Fox Theatre, I'd definitely recommend having dinner here before the show. It's only a block from the theatre.
