After several trips to the vehicle, the employee admitted he had no idea why the new key would not work. This is not the first time I had to replace a lost remote key, and the process usually takes about 15 minutes. A wonderful personality is a huge attribute when dealing with clients, but without the necessary knowledge, the results will always fall short.

Not so Prestige. Bring your locksmithing issue to them. Park your car in front of their store. Peruse their wares and ask all your questions. They will be answered professionally and courteously. Whatever you buy will be priced reasonably, and they will source what you need if not a stock item. I replaced some deadbolts and keyed handsets at the house recently and, silly me, thought I could rekey all the locks myself. Mistake. Meanwhile, the deal I thought I was getting online for the locks suddenly was not such a deal when you add rekeying kits and time to the equation. Doug sold me a new Schlage handset and threw in the rekey (normally $20) making the net lock cost less than the online purchase. And all done in an hour, including cutting 5 new keys. Prestige provides old school customer service the way I've become used to getting it. Sure -- I will continue to shop in Bezoland when it makes sense. I thankfully behaved myself, and did not go on a wild shopping spree. When I finally made it to the counter, the person who helped me was very knowledgeable, and handy. He duplicated a couple sets of keys perfectly. He did not even need to take them out of my car key ring. The sets he made up he had placed in its own key ring rather than just throw them all at me, and mix the keys up. He was also honest, and saved me some money with another request of mine that I did not need to get done. I like honesty, it's a great virtue. I then went to Atlas, where I should have gone initially. The counterman cut my 2 keys while I waited and they worked perfectly. When I went to pay, we both learned that the store's WiFi was down and he couldn't process my credit card. He took my phone number and told me to take my keys and he'd call me when his WiFi came back up. This is the way to run a local business.

I am revising my review which was originally 5 stars to 3 stars…read more I wrote this review since a) this Fort Lee, NJ business was not found on a yelp search save for another branch Pete's Lock and Key in Darien, CT; b) it is not easy to find a key maker in Fort Lee, NJ; c) I found this business since I needed to have keys made to stop getting locked out of my apartment; and d) I miss being in Manhattan where there are lots of places to make keys including hardware stores and shoe repair stores. Fort Lee is not as convenient unfortunately; as well as e) I want to help other people who need to have keys made and who get locked out of their homes. I did a google search and did not come up with much. Some were businesses that had closed. One was a strange place that could only tell me where there were key making machines I could use myself. This place was a bit hard to find and someone isn't in the shop all day long since they are out and about helping people who get locked out of their homes. You have to call in advance and inform them you are coming to make sure someone is there at the shop to help you with key making. The first day, I got lost trying to find this place since I was told it was near the 7-Eleven and there turned out to be two 7-Eleven shops and I went to the wrong one near Whitman Plaza not the one near Linwood Plaza. The second day, Nick M. Hart gave me directions and was in the shop to make 3 copies of my apartment keys so each family member and a friend could have keys and I wouldn't have to worry about being locked out again and having to pay a $20 fee for the building super to let me in. This is a neat little shop with all sorts of keychains and lariats to hang keys from. It also has different locks and even safes for sale. Nick was friendly and he even showed me how to get back to the H Mart supermarket from his store since I am still new to Fort Lee and don't know my way around. Unfortunately, only the keys for the top lock worked. The ones for the bottom lock did not work at all. I contacted Nick to inform him. He insisted that his key-making machines are always "spot-on". I sent my son with the keys Nick had made back to Nick. All he did was run them through a machine again. No surprise that they keys still don't work. I called him back and Nick said that the keys we sent back were "almost a perfect match" before he ran them through the machine again. He said if the keys he made didn't work then it must be the fault of the lock. I told him the original keys work. Only his keys don't work. I also told him that the building's handyman said, when he examined the keys that Nick made, that it was obvious that they were not good copies of the original keys. Nick said the handyman didn't know what he was talking about since he is not a locksmith. Nick was unwilling to accept that keys he made don't work. So he said he would try to pass by an inspect our lock since it "might be worn". He has been too busy to come so far. Not sure what will happen if he comes here to inspect the lock. When I called to ask if he was still coming to check our lock as he had said he would, he impolitely snapped, "Well I am not going to come all the way there for you! I will only come if I happen to be in the area!'". Incredulous! We have 4 sets of keys which can only open and lock the top lock but which are completely useless for the bottom lock. I just want him to remake the keys or refund my money so I can go elsewhere to get keys made. What kind of locksmith keeps on insisting his keys and the key machine he used to make them are perfect if the keys can't even serve the purpose for which they were made, namely, to open and lock a customer's door? Then said locksmith gets snippy and aggressive with the customer about resolving the situation of keys that don't work? What? Did I pay for keys to look pretty as decoration and not useful objects? No. Sorry. I no longer recommend this business based on the shoddy customer service and very impolite attitude as well as total disregard for me, the customer.
