Ordering and scheduling delivery of the crates was super easy. They were great to pack and worked with our movers. My only complaint was that my delivery and pick-up times were both changed and then the driver still arrived early- normally that would be great but in the age of working from home and meetings it wasn't. I was in contact with Mia throughout the entire process and she answered all my questions. It was a 3 man crew who arrived 15 min. earlier than the scheduled arrival window. They were super quick and efficient with moving all my boxes, disassembling my furniture, and wrapping my larger furniture with blankets. They then went to my fiancés apartment and was able to load everything from his place as well and get to our new apartment with all of our stuff. I did lose my step ladder and broom during the move but after calling the next day they were able to find and bring it that day. I was super appreciative of this. They took original, painted artwork and put it in a box with other framed pictures and metal pictures without protective wrapping. Despite telling them that I had items in two storage units as well as a single-family home, they failed to adequately staff my move, resulting in time wasted at the storage facility for another truck to show up and insufficient personnel to unload the trucks at my new location. The whole move lasted well into the night because they hadn't adequately resourced my move. Regarding the damage to my furniture, I was told I would be reimbursed a certain amount, and I agreed. It was a fair offer. Then I got another written offer that was significantly below what was originally offered to me. The amount that was supposed to be reimbursed to me? Never received. As I unpack more boxes, I'm finding more damage and shoddy packing. I can no longer recommend this company.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. They were nice guys; but they didn't handle my stuff with care. I have nicks and a huge new scratch on my dresser -- I should've seen the red flag when they didn't wrap it (I've moved this dresser many times before and movers have always wrapped it) but just wanted to get the move over with. This dresser has stayed in perfect condition for several years and several moves, so I'm a bit heartbroken. I also have a hugeeeeee rip on my mattress (picture also attached). I'm unsure of how this will impact support and may have to buy an entirely new one. Throughout the process, I just felt very uneasy about how they were handling my stuff. They broke another one of items as well as a hallway light in my new apartment. They ruined a $10,000 sofa; when it was unwrapped it had huge stains and mold all over it. they dropped our desk in the garage floor, put a large dent in the door from the garage to the house, broke pieces off of a 1900's antique sideboard, bent our outdoor table, put a large hole in a $1600 lounge chair, among many other scratches and dents. we provided photos and made a claim for the insurance that we paid $400 for, and refused to cover anything. The owner John complained a lot, after most of truck packed made drama then his wife/biz partner took me into the house crying. She said to give them $2000 more than the $5700 already paying for moving 1800 square feet 5 hours and 15 min. away or they would unpack the truck and leave. Unethical people I say. Their workers said upon delivery the medium moving truck was only 2/3 full and should not have cost so much. Now in getting settled I find they didn't pack well at all. For example glasses, lamps were broken, my corner Cabinet chipped because it wasn't protected or wrapped on top. Also the tv remotes, ports were not put in the big box w the TV and most boxes not marked well. I had great pre-printed packing stickers, but they weren't used. I cleared out and packed my basement storage areas, called a junk remover (they were supposed to do that as part of contract). So I would NOT RECOMMEND this company to move anything. You will likely get your price changed and ripped off. Not to mention your possessions not packed carefully or boxes marked accurately.
