    I had a horrible exp with this company! I paid in advance for a car and insurance online for 7…read moredays. I received a confirmation email stating I ONLY paid for 3 days. I called and was told I could get it straightened out in the office when I picked up the car. Once I got there, I was told there was nothing indicating that I purchased insurance. (even though additional fees were taking out.) I assume this was for the insurance but was told this was for the deposit. (The website says they will take the deposit at the time I pic up the car) They proceeded to do an application for their insurance. I was asked for 2 emergency contacts, bankcard, mortgage or leasing agreement! I told them I didn't have any of that on me. Needless to say, I was unable to rent the car even though I paid in advance. The customer service rep wasn't accommodating at all. He was very indifferent. I caught a Lyft there and didn't have a way home. It was an awful experience. All customer service people should share the same information! (i.e.. the people of the phone and the people at the counter) I was not informed of needing these items when I called twice to see if my online process went through. I will never use this company again.(This took place at the Northern Parkway facility NOT Glen Burnie)

He was sitting there beginning to eat his breakfast. He looked up and rolled his eyes as if I was interrupting him. He look the keys and shuffled outside to check the car. He asked if I wanted a printed receipt and then said with an attitude. " we gonna hold your deposit for the tire" I had no idea what he was taking about and instead of explaining he said " yeah I said the tire". At that point I said "hey I'm just asking a question" another young lady that I suspect is the manager took over the conversation and explained everything. She was very nice and professional. The young man however was an abomination. I never want to have to deal with him again. Very unprofessional.

    Ordered a moving truck online. Price was cheaper than other rental truck companies. Arrived at the…read morelocation on-time, and they could not find my reservation. Employee (bless her soul) calls around to the other Budgets in the area and finally finds one available, but I have to drive 12 miles out of town, and I have to show up tomorrow. Not surprisingly, I show up the next day, and they have no record of my reservation, even though I had them confirm over the phone multiple times the day before. The employee at this new location had zero interest in helping me out--turns out they only had one truck, and it was reserved for someone later. So I called Budget Rental Truck's customer service line. Spoke with a nice Filipino man who fixed the whole thing. As part of his fix, he stated that I would receive a 35% discount, which I would receive after I returned the truck. I start to load the truck only to find that a check engine light went off and the car dolly was missing a lever. I called customer service again, and a mechanic shows up several hours later to fix lever. He didn't do anything about the check engine light (except reset it). Said I'd still have several thousand miles before it needed to be changed. Halfway thru my move, heard a clicking down in the engine. Called customer service again. Spoke to another Filipino man who said he'd get a mechanic over to me. Mechanic came and diagnosed the problem as a bent rod in the engine, most likely due to poor maintenance of the vehicle (e.g., oil should've been changed). I had to stay in Amarillo, TX, overnight due to the delay in waiting for the mechanic, calling in a tow truck capable of towing trucks, finding a replacement truck, and moving all my belongings to the new truck. When I found out how long this wait was going to be the customer service agent that I spoke with before assured me that I'd get a 20% discount, plus lodging and meal reimbursement for the extra day that this inconvenience caused. I clarified with him that I was promised a 35% discount at the very start and that this would be IN ADDITION to that. He acknowledged that the 35% discount was noted in my account, and that this would be in addition. And, if that wasn't enough, after I finished my move, the battery died, and I had to contact customer service again to get a new battery. As if that wasn't enough, I had a huge battle with their customer service office in getting all the discounts that I was promised for all these inconveniences. They ended up just giving me ~$200, which barely covered the extra night's expenses. No compensation for my time and inconvenience. Plus, I had originally agreed to even go thru with the reservation because of the promised 35% discount. Of course, Budget alleges not having any record of any of those promises. Needless to say, never again Budget! Also noteworthy is a huge disconnect between the Budget corporate offices, which are professional, and the local offices, where the actual trucks are. The local offices are run haphazardly--every man for themselves. During this ordeal, I've been to 3 local offices, and they're still using DOT MATRIX printers for God's sake.

    I rented a car here after booking a cabin in Shenandoah which required 4WD to access. NextCar…read moreseemed to have the best price and was the closest location for pickup.  Upon arrival, they needed proof of my insurance since I wasn't using theirs which wasn't something they told me I needed to provide. I've rented cars many times through other providers and have never needed that documentation on hand. It delayed me quite a bit having to dig up the doc via the Geico app so that was a little frustrating. I told the employee at the counter that I absolutely needed four wheel drive and I confirmed that the vehicle I had booked was the one I was receiving. The vehicle was different but I was assured it was still 4WD. However, once we got toward our destination, I was disappointed to find the car struggling to get up the gravel mountain roads. We were sliding and hydroplaning and it was pretty dicey at times. Definitely not the most relaxing way to start our vacation. We actually ended up having to leave a night early because there was some icy weather coming in and I didn't trust that the car would be safe enough to drive down the mountain. I let the employee know about my concerns once I returned the car but was once again assured that the car was 4WD. It was a Toyota Corolla Cross which is not inherently 4WD and the vehicle had no indication that it was 4WD on the back like cars normally do. I'm not sure if the employee was being truthful or just trying to get one over on me. It's hard to tell. Either way, I wouldn't trust NextCar for my next rental which is disappointing since I do travel quite a bit. It also seems like they have policies which could result in nickel and diming like the $100-$300 cleaning fee for something as simple as mud, which I saw posted on a sign at the counter. Yikes.
