I love eyetopia, I had been hunting for ages to find the perfect super dramatic cat-eye glasses and nowhere i checked, in person or online, had anything until my mom mentioned driving by this store. It was muuuch more expensive than Costco but in my opinion very worth it since they are on my face basically every waking hour of the day. People recognize me by my glasses. They compliment them frequently. It's great. I came in today a year after I got them, and John (I'm pretty sure i have his name right?) immediately recognized me (possibly because of the awesome glasses) and fixed the minor issue i had been having. From the moment I walked in, I felt uneasy and less excited about the place. The interaction was less than warm or friendly, and without knowing my purpose for the visit, I was told to go upstairs where I would then be helped. I sat at the counter on a stool looking into a room filled with frames that I could not touch or look at closely. I was asked for my script. I told them it is at home but I would bring it when I found something. They told me it is impossible to know what to show me without it. I did tell them I have an astigmatism, a high script, I am nearsighted and I have worn progressives for many years. Still, I was told they needed a script which I found weird unless I was buying a pair. Since, I was not allowed to browse or try on frames on my own, (which felt odd since I am old enough to decide what I like on myself) it was hard for them to hone in on a frame style I wanted. So I showed a gentleman photos of styles I liked and explained that, as an art teacher, I wanted something functional but funky. He continued to show me frames he personally liked on me, including $800 Swarovski crystal frames that were completely impractical for my work. I was repeatedly scolded for not bringing my prescription -- at least seven times -- despite explaining that I was there simply to try on frames and narrow down my options. In 40 years of wearing glasses, I've never experienced this level of insistence or condescension by a sales person or a business owner. When Paige said, "How do you expect us to help you, when you come half prepared?" That comment was so shocking, that I got up and left. With no other customers in the store, there was plenty of time to find something I loved, and I would have run home to get my script. I was excited to try on frames here, since they had such a huge selection. However, I would never recommend to anyone because of the high pressure sales tactics, condescending comments, lack of professional service given. Had they been kind, listened to my requests and/or allowed me to look around a bit first, I might have given a higher score. read more

Limited sunglass selection, very of a snotty attitude by the owner, enough that I decide to leave beacuse of her. Not to mention their glasses are literally under lock and key. Just went to Eyetopia to look at some frames with my husband. She told us they do things differently there, as in you sit tell her what you are looking for and she pulls out suggestions. We agreed and she did this with him. What she didn't mention until after when he didn't find anything was that we owe her $25 for the consultation. Ridiculous! Tell your customers this upfront! And she wouldn't let me take a photo of him in a pair that he was considering! read more

Just when I thought I couldn't have nice things... Paige and John both assisted me first with my AMAZING progressive sunglasses then day wear glasses. I must say I have never seen such a wide variety of options in my life!!! The day I received my new glasses was like Christmas morning for me! Then after some wear my day glasses unexpectedly was leaving the bridge of my nose red/sore AND somehow I managed to put a scratch in my beautiful new sun glasses. I thought "I just can't have nice things" I decided to call and chat with Paige who asked me to come in immediately. Much to my surprise she said "no problem" Paige will work her magic on shaving the bridge clip to better fit my thin nose AND fix the scratch in the reflective shades that obviously I caused! I'm going to get my Christmas morning experience all over again when I return to pick up my most beautiful new glasses. We had a wonderful experience at Eyetopia getting our toddler fitted for his first pair of glasses three years ago and have used them ever since. We went there initially because they're the only place locally that carries the Tomato brand of children's glasses. Christina and John are extremely knowledgeable about baby/toddler glasses and took the time to answer all of our questions about fit and function. They are also extremely patient and have lots of tricks/tips on how to do a frame fitting on a squirmy screaming toddler. They also do a great job of inspecting the glasses when the arrive from the lab -- they noted some abnormalities with the frame and requested a replacement automatically for us. Everything is also reasonably priced and they're very clear and upfront about their billing. Highly recommend Eyetopia! read more

Christina and John Chou are wonderful and do their utmost to make customers completely happy. However, be fully aware that if there is an issue of any sort, avoid the owner/manager, Paige. She does not have customer service/relations skills as her strong suit. I will never return and highly recommend that you purchase elsewhere. Costco is a great place with customer satisfaction a priority. Designer frames as well. Paige can continue to respond with her failing memory of what transpired in the shop one week after picking up my frames. She can spew as many "thoughtful" responses as she feels will help her sleep at night but this review will not be deleted until she apologizes for her slanderish remarks. Payment was made in full to this merchant and I am being made whole through a damaged goods benefit with my credit card company. Now THAT is customer satisfaction guaranteed. read more

I was travelling this past weekend when the piece on my left ear that connected the lens to my ear was severely bent and almost breaking off. As I am going to be on the road for several days (and driving) I was going to need to get a replacement arm ASAP. I called my eyeglass shop back home and they looked up Silhouette eye ware for a store in Northern Virginia that might carry them. I was directed to Eyetopia and asked if they may have replacement parts and/or a spare that they could put on for me. John was great as he looked upstairs and found a extra part and quickly put it on my glasses and I was out of there all fixed up lickety split for just $25! The owner of the shop worked with me to pick out my frames and then John helped with expediting the order as I was leaving on vacation. Appointments are fast, easy and surprisingly painless considering we have to decide on a pair of glasses for a toddler. We recently just went in with a new prescription for our toddler and again had a wonderful experience. Christina is awesome. Don't even bother walking in the door! I went to Eyetopia because it was recommended to me by my eye doctor, and I'd hoped to find some glasses to purchase today. Big mistake! I just wanted to see what they had, and if I saw something I liked, make a purchase. But I couldn't even look at their inventory until they photocopied my prescription (containing personal medical information) , and dragged me into a "client" consultation!!! This type of sale practice is infamously synonymous with high pressure sales and scams, by the way. When I said I was uncomfortable with that (which I definitely am), and just wanted to look at what they had, the woman behind the counter got quite snotty! She stated I had to do it their way to even see their inventory, even telling me their staff had to "guide" me in choosing my glasses. I'm a grown man in my 50s. Believe me, I don't need their staff to act utterly condescending toward me, then tell me what I want! I'd never darken their doorstep again! If you value your time and dont desire high-pressure sales tactics, go somewhere else! read more

We love Eyetopia! Christina is always super helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable! They have a wide variety of glasses to choose from and your glasses are usually ready within two weeks. A very disappointing experience. In order to even look at their frame selection, you need to commit to pay a $25 eyewear consulting fee. If you do decide to purchase your glasses there, the consulting fee will be credited toward your purchase. Additionally, Don't just stop by their store and expect to browse without an appointment. You'll need to give them all of your personal information including your name, address, phone, email, prescription, etc before "going upstairs to the eye vault". This is clearly not consumer friendly, especially when there are lots of competitors in the market. That's not to say they don't give you a personalized experience once you pay the fee and discuss your individual needs. In my opinion, this is an extremely poor way of conducting business when you have what appears to be a retail store front. Finally, you get the opportunity to pay full retail! Eyetopia does not accept ANY vision insurance plans. They are not the only game in town. read more

My husband and I just left Eyetopia pleased as punch! Honest to goodness, an incredible experience! We drove from Fairfax to Leesburg in search of new prescription glasses as a former co-worker raved about Eyetopia. I specifically wanted "statement" eyewear and was hoping my husband might up his fashion game too! Christina set us up with bar stools @ a counter with mirrors and asked us each a few question about what we thought we were looking for. Two of my friends went in there and were greeted with the worst customer service ever. The person helping them said they couldn't take pictures, you can't write anything down, and you don't get written estimates. They are way over priced and they give you a fee just to see the glasses. The staff was VERY patient with me as it took me quite a while to pick the pair I liked. Eyetopia really is the best place for little kids specs. My 4 year old loves this place and wants to go just to play. They have a kid friendly play zone, tons of stylish specs and sunglasses in every color, shape imaginable for boys and girls. The staff is super friendly, you don't feel like just a number like you do in in the chain stores. Sure, it can be an inconvenience to have to make an appt, BUT you get superior service b/c they are focused on your/your child. And I've always called and got in same day. After years of wearing contacts, I need to start using glasses more. In the past I've just gone to Costco for glasses but I've never loved them. I decided it was time to try to find glasses that I'd love, so I stepped out of my comfort zone and set up an appointment here. Christina was very patient and fun to work with as she brought me probably thirty different frames to try....listening to what I liked and why, and giving me feedback without pushing it I disagreed. I searched most of the big box options in NOVA before hitting up Eyetopia. Christina turned our experience from stressful and upsetting to a pleasure with smiles rather than tears. Christina made the selection process easy...she did most of the selecting, we tried on, took some pictures and done! The glasses came back within a week (including a long holiday weekend), way shorter than the estimated two week turnaround. You may pay a little extra for the exceptional customer service, quality lenses and year warranty program, but I would say it is well worth it!! Five stars for Eyetopia!!! read more

Eyetopia is the place to go for stylish eyewear! Christina is fantastic in her ability to choose eyeglasses that suit your face and personality. However, avoid any contact with Paige. Every time I have contact with her she is condescending to me and Christina. I have recommended Eyetopia to several friends, but they already met Paige and refuse to go back which is very sad. i stopped by the store to look at their "stylish" inventory of eyeware and to get some feedback on bifocals versus progressive lenses. The customer service rep said I would need to speak to Paige and the "eyewear vault" was upstairs. Apparently you don't get to view their glasses without a sit down with the owner.
