While the personalized fitting approach wasn't quite my style, it may appeal to those who appreciate that level of hands on service. The main floor of the shop has unique purses, bags, jewlrey, and nonperscription readers with the optical service upstairs.

From the moment I walked in, I felt uneasy and less excited about the place. The interaction was…read moreless than warm or friendly, and without knowing my purpose for the visit, I was told to go upstairs where I would then be helped. I sat at the counter on a stool looking into a room filled with frames that I could not touch or look at closely. I was asked for my script. I told them it is at home but I would bring it when I found something. They told me it is impossible to know what to show me without it. I did tell them I have an astigmatism, a high script, I am nearsighted and I have worn progressives for many years. Still, I was told they needed a script which I found weird unless I was buying a pair. Since, I was not allowed to browse or try on frames on my own, (which felt odd since I am old enough to decide what I like on myself) it was hard for them to hone in on a frame style I wanted. So I showed a gentleman photos of styles I liked and explained that, as an art teacher, I wanted something functional but funky. He continued to show me frames he personally liked on me, including $800 Swarovski crystal frames that were completely impractical for my work. I was repeatedly scolded for not bringing my prescription -- at least seven times -- despite explaining that I was there simply to try on frames and narrow down my options. In 40 years of wearing glasses, I've never experienced this level of insistence or condescension by a sales person or a business owner. When Paige said, "How do you expect us to help you, when you come half prepared?" That comment was so shocking, that I got up and left. With no other customers in the store, there was plenty of time to find something I loved, and I would have run home to get my script. I was excited to try on frames here, since they had such a huge selection. However, I would never recommend to anyone because of the high pressure sales tactics, condescending comments, lack of professional service given. Had they been kind, listened to my requests and/or allowed me to look around a bit first, I might have given a higher score.

I've been going to Ashburn Vision Source for several years, and while the doctors themselves are…read morecompetent, thorough, and genuinely good at what they do, the front-of-house experience is consistently disappointing. The front-of-house (front desk and the folks that fit your glasses) are often very young, unprofessional, and not well-informed about eyewear or basic customer service. They struggle to answer questions clearly, offer poor or incorrect advice, and overall seem unsure of how to communicate with patients. For anyone getting glasses for the first time or navigating more complex vision needs, this can quickly become a frustrating and stressful experience. You truly need to do your own research ahead of time and know exactly what you're looking for before you walk in--otherwise you may end up in a nightmare scenario. Scheduling appointments is another challenge. Every phone call feels like an inconvenience to them; the tone is unhelpful, rushed, and sometimes even dismissive. There's often audible sighing or irritation when trying to find an appointment time that works. It's clear they don't want to be there, and unfortunately it shows in the service. The only reason I continue to return is because this is the closest location covered by my insurance. If proximity or insurance coverage isn't an issue for you, I would strongly recommend choosing a different provider. The doctors are excellent, but the overall experience is significantly downgraded by the front desk staff.

She took the time to explain the tests and what they were for, plus what the results meant not just to me, but to my son who is ever the scientist. She even did a rush order for his glasses because he was so excited to have a solution to his vision problems and couldn't wait to be able to see after years of not realizing that not everyone sees double! Both the Dr. and her staff were kind and lovely and their offices are also very comfortable with ample free parking. I wear glasses too and will be going to her from now on. They also take just about every insurance you can think of so bonus points!

I then sat with the optometrist- she was knowledgeable, helpful, and made some good recommendations. I came out and bought two pairs of glasses and all in all I felt like it was the most seamless and easy optometrist visit I've ever had. I picked up my glasses two weeks later and had some issues with timing - on my end because I live about an hour away, but the desk staff and the optometrist were both very communicative and kept me updated about their hours and when we could both be there. This place gives that small town experience we're all looking for - I felt like I was treated kindly and professionally every step of the way. I highly recommend.
