Good service from Dr. Krause and his office. Being co-located with Costco-Sterling, the location is most convenient to Costco optical.

I've been going to Ashburn Vision Source for several years, and while the doctors themselves are…read morecompetent, thorough, and genuinely good at what they do, the front-of-house experience is consistently disappointing. The front-of-house (front desk and the folks that fit your glasses) are often very young, unprofessional, and not well-informed about eyewear or basic customer service. They struggle to answer questions clearly, offer poor or incorrect advice, and overall seem unsure of how to communicate with patients. For anyone getting glasses for the first time or navigating more complex vision needs, this can quickly become a frustrating and stressful experience. You truly need to do your own research ahead of time and know exactly what you're looking for before you walk in--otherwise you may end up in a nightmare scenario. Scheduling appointments is another challenge. Every phone call feels like an inconvenience to them; the tone is unhelpful, rushed, and sometimes even dismissive. There's often audible sighing or irritation when trying to find an appointment time that works. It's clear they don't want to be there, and unfortunately it shows in the service. The only reason I continue to return is because this is the closest location covered by my insurance. If proximity or insurance coverage isn't an issue for you, I would strongly recommend choosing a different provider. The doctors are excellent, but the overall experience is significantly downgraded by the front desk staff.

When I…read morearrived at my scheduled time at the end of 2024, the receptionist was very nice, but I was shocked that Dr. Char was frankly indifferent and dismissive towards me, NOT ANSWERING my questions, even when I asked them several times: he simply IGNORED me! In general, he was clearly in a hurry to get rid of me. At the same time, he had no other patients waiting. I was also struck by the terribly worn-out chair: it belonged in a junkyard, not in a doctor's office. After this shocking visit to this dismissive doctor, I went to the restroom, and upon returning, I found the doctor chatting pleasantly with my husband! (My husband had no appoinmment). I again asked a question that was very important to me (concerning the health of my eyes) - and again I was frankly ignored! Even in front of my hubby. I could attribute this to the disregard of Eastern men towards women, however, I have previously been treated by several Asian male doctors, and they were not only wonderful professionals but also courteous and polite individuals!

I need to see a different type of ophthalmologist and she was kind enough to send me a list of doctors even though I'm not even a patient of theirs. I'm done with this place…read more My previous 3 star review was due to issues getting a copy of my prescription. For some reason I went back this year and it's been even worse. My initial exam they said that there was something wrong with my eye blood vessel and so I would need to make a follow up appointment. I did so and went back and then they said nope nothing wrong. I also ordered contact lenses through them after the exam after being convinced that they could recommend some that wouldn't dry my eyes out or hurt them as lenses had done in the past. I tried the ones they recommended by they turn my entire eye blood red within one hour of wearing. So I went to return the lenses. Understandably, they would not refund the open box but said they MIGHT refund the others. MIGHT? You sold me a product that doesn't work for me, if I want to return it I should be able to. Unfortunately no one in this office seemed to have any authority to do so and said I would have to wait until the next week for a manager to approve the return. OK. So I wait and of course I hear nothing. I call to follow up and talk to a different low level employee who says they need to talk to the manager and will have them call me back. I hear nothing. I call again today a full week after the initial request and I'm told that they were waiting to talk to me to process the refund. WHAT. They claim they called me and left messages. Maybe they did but nothing was on my phone from them. No emails either. So now they say, yes, we'll refund you but you have to wait ANOTHER week because we can't do it this month, it has to be Aug. 1 so it doesn't impact our financial reporting for July. What kind of business is this? If I walk into Wegmans with rotten fruit, they don't make me wait a month to replace it. I asked for an email in writing of the acknowledgement of the refund with the amount and the exact date I can expect to see it hit my account, presumably now sometime next week. They said they would send that as well as a receipt for the refund payment. We'll see if I get it without having to involve the Better Business Bureau. Not holding my breath at this point.

I was really concerned about seeking professional care because I was between jobs and without health insurance. Dr. Sheebani Bathija saw me the day I called. She was very quick and orderly and found a small scratch. She gave me some drops and instructions to come back in 2 days to check the progress of the healing. It was healing nicely and Dr Bathija very kindly waived my office fee when I was in a rough spot, making it easier to pay for the vital prescriptions I needed to keep my eye clean and well lubricated while it healed fully. Now that I'm happily employed with insurance I'm going to go back to her to get new glasses sometime soon. :) thank you Dr Bathija for taking such good care of my eye and being there when I needed you.

Decided to give it a try because everyone has different experiences. Overall, I would say that my family had a great experience with our eye exams, very thorough and efficient. I would rate the doctor as 5 star. The front desk people are not great and maybe I just also had bad luck with them. Our first time as a family here and found that I had to make call multiple times to get a call back, they do not respond to text message (though they direct you to use text) and seemed unfamiliar with insurance/unwilling to figure it out. Therefore, it was fine overall - we got what we needed in the end, but will probably would not go back.

On our first visit, Farida walked her through the procedure and answered all her questions. She was upfront about cost and even checked our insurance to determine what our final cost would be. We were glad we got to meet him that day because we felt much better about the procedure and decided to move forward. On the day of the procedure, we met Dr Nasrullah at the Reston Surgical Center. He reviewed the process and procedure again and answered our questions. They collected payment the day of the procedure. Cash or Credit Cards only- no checks accepted. The process was as quick as Dr Nasrullah described. The process itself took about 20 minutes, but with the preparation and post care we were at the center for about 2 hrs. Before the procedure, my aunt's vision was -6 due to the cataract. Now her vision is 20/20! Very happy with the results!
