It has become extremely difficult to schedule appointments with Dr. Hinkle or Dr. Boyle. After waiting weeks, we've arrived for appointments only to be told they were canceled without notice. Additionally, the front office staff is often rude and make simple questions feel like an inconvenience. The newer staff responsible for fitting glasses also do not seem to take the time to properly ensure a correct fit. This has been very disappointing given the level of care we experienced in the past. Unfortunately, today was the tipping point and we will not be back.

My initial exam they said that there was something wrong with my eye blood vessel and so I would need to make a follow up appointment. I did so and went back and then they said nope nothing wrong. I also ordered contact lenses through them after the exam after being convinced that they could recommend some that wouldn't dry my eyes out or hurt them as lenses had done in the past. I tried the ones they recommended by they turn my entire eye blood red within one hour of wearing. So I went to return the lenses. Understandably, they would not refund the open box but said they MIGHT refund the others. MIGHT? You sold me a product that doesn't work for me, if I want to return it I should be able to. Unfortunately no one in this office seemed to have any authority to do so and said I would have to wait until the next week for a manager to approve the return. OK. So I wait and of course I hear nothing. I call to follow up and talk to a different low level employee who says they need to talk to the manager and will have them call me back. I hear nothing. I call again today a full week after the initial request and I'm told that they were waiting to talk to me to process the refund. WHAT. They claim they called me and left messages. Maybe they did but nothing was on my phone from them. No emails either. So now they say, yes, we'll refund you but you have to wait ANOTHER week because we can't do it this month, it has to be Aug. 1 so it doesn't impact our financial reporting for July. What kind of business is this? If I walk into Wegmans with rotten fruit, they don't make me wait a month to replace it. I asked for an email in writing of the acknowledgement of the refund with the amount and the exact date I can expect to see it hit my account, presumably now sometime next week. They said they would send that as well as a receipt for the refund payment. We'll see if I get it without having to involve the Better Business Bureau. Not holding my breath at this point.

Dr. Kim-Eye Institute of Reston…read more I had an extremely frustrating experience with Dr. Kim at Eye Institute of Reston, VA, and would not recommend them to anyone looking for quality eye care. From the start, my eye exam felt rushed. When I struggled to see the letters clearly, the doctor switched to shapes instead of taking the time to ensure an accurate prescription. After the exam, she had me try on the prescribed contact lenses, but I couldn't see well with them. Instead of adjusting the prescription, she decided to keep it the same as what I walked in with. Another challenge was the eye machine used for the exam--it kept fogging up, and the doctor repeatedly wiped it off with a cloth. This happened during both of my visits. I asked about it the second time, and she told me to try breathing through my nose. I also inquired as to whether warm temperature in the office could be causing the fogging, and she responded, "I guess." The equipment looked more like a temporary plastic station rather than high-tech machinery, and I've never had this issue at other optometrist offices. When I picked up my glasses, I immediately noticed something was off, almost like a smudge. I voiced my concerns, but was advised to try them for a couple of weeks. After struggling with them, I returned for another exam, but the doctor still couldn't get my prescription right. At that point, she mentioned cataracts, which had never been brought up before, and referred me to a specialist. When I asked to return the glasses since I couldn't see properly, I was told they have a no-return policy, even though they failed to provide me with functional eyewear. I left messages requesting a resolution, but no one ever called me back. I spent a significant amount of money on glasses that I cannot use, and the lack of professionalism and care at this office is unacceptable. If you value your vision and customer service, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.

On our first visit, Farida walked her through the procedure and answered all her questions. She was upfront about cost and even checked our insurance to determine what our final cost would be. We met Dr Nasrullah during our initial visit. He was very nice and took his time answering our questions. He explained the procedure and what would happen afterwards. We were glad we got to meet him that day because we felt much better about the procedure and decided to move forward. On the day of the procedure, we met Dr Nasrullah at the Reston Surgical Center. He reviewed the process and procedure again and answered our questions. They collected payment the day of the procedure. Cash or Credit Cards only- no checks accepted. The process was as quick as Dr Nasrullah described. The process itself took about 20 minutes, but with the preparation and post care we were at the center for about 2 hrs. Before the procedure, my aunt's vision was -6 due to the cataract. Now her vision is 20/20! Very happy with the results!

Several months later- they charged my card! I called and nothing happened- until I called again and informed them it is illegal per the FTC to charge for a prescription. After the extreme pain of the injections I ended up with huge bruising all around my eyes that lasted a good three weeks -- hardly worth the few months I looked better afterward. Now, 4 years later, I'm left with bumps and sags under both eyes that were never there before because she didn't do her job at smoothing all the stuff out. I was able to make a same day appointment. When I arrived, I found the location was was clean and well stocked. Melissa at reception checked me in and dealt with my insurance company mess up, which was not her fault but she was a pro and super kind and helpful. Then Dr Chuh saw me and was fantastic. He took the time to listen to my concerns and provide thoughtful advice after assuring me that everything was ok (reading my test results). He is very focused on providing great care, and I was so pleased with the time he took to make sure all my questions were addressed. Strongest recommendation for this location.
