Customer service here has tanked. A friend and I came in. The employees weren't very friendly. Once we found frames, we went to one and found her disengaged. She told us about the current deal but didn't mention the discount coupon outside their door. That's shady. Fortunately, my friend found it before I checked out, so it was added to my final line. I got a text 30 minutes saying my glasses were ready and a different woman helped me. She clearly did not want to be at work. She said nothing to me when she gave me the glasses. She didn't even consider looking to see if the fit was right. What?! So I had to start that process. What has happened to the customer service here? It was so good a year ago. The ultra HXD lenses are a scam. First, I was promised blue light protection. Not true. If lenses are blue light reflective, the reflections show blue and purple. Mine reflected green. Think of color properties. Green reflection can't be blue light protected. When I pointed this out, staff tried to convince me that blue light protected lenses could reflect green. Not possible due to the properties of colors. Second, I was promised enhanced area of lens clarity. Not true. Even a 20 degree shift in focus causes a blurry outlook. I don't even know where to begin. I had the most horrible experience at this place. First off when I went to get an exam the Eye Doctor and the receptionists were very rude and unwelcoming. I waited for over an hour after being called back before he even did my exam. He was very short with me and even had no patience when I would ask questions because of my issues due to a history of Brain cancer. I'm writing this review to help others avoid the horrible experience I had at this place. I walked out of there in tears because of the staff and my frustration. Okay now part 2. Once I picked my desired frames in May of 2024 I did not receive them until August of 2024. I spent an entire summer without frames which only added more issues and restrictions to be able to drive. Also the headaches I was experiencing due to not having my frames was the kicker, and biggest reason I am writing my review. People do not understand peoples limitations on the cover. Mine are because of Brain cancer in 2004. I barely have vision in my right eye because of this. Its sad that I had to go all the way to Dallas, TX. And see an Ophthalmologist to get proper treatment. This easily could've been avoided if people acted like they gave a damn. All in all, don't judge the book and do better. Retrain your staff to learn better customer service. I'm speaking a huge portion of the Eye Dr's office. Oh and I will never set foot back in Eyemart Express again. Lesson learned I suppose. read more

About 10-15 years ago, my wife and I followed our neighbor/opthalmologist from Americas Best to Idaho EyePros off Milwaukee Street in Boise, ID. EyePros are affiliated with EyeMart Express Opticians. Within the last six months to a year, after two years of record revenues from selling lenses and frames, Eyemart Express replaced both their manager and divisional representative. Eyemart claims they were being too competitive. They were merely providing good customer service which included price matching. Despite the fact lenses and frames cost very little to manufacture according to an optician industry expert, e.g., about 10$-20$ for each, Eyemart Express and most other local optician stores charge up to $300 each, e.g. up to a thirty fold markup. Eye Mart used to replace lenses in old frames, but now EyeMart and most other opticians require their customers to purchase new frames. The primary objective is simply to charge more, e.g., maximize profits at the expense of the customer/patient. The process of purchasing lenses and frames begins with getting an eye exam, whether you need one or not. Though it is good to get an eye exam every year if your eyesight changes, it is often not necessary nor is it required by law. It is the customer's decision. The eye exam is followed by choosing lenses and frames, at which point EyeMart Express looks up your insurance provider to ascertain your coverages, and then proceeds to charge as much as possible, e.g., often exceeding your insurance coverage by at least 20%. This gouging of customers is unprofessional and arguably a violation of HIPAA. According to the 2017 State of Privacy and Security Awareness Report, 78 percent of health care employees are not prepared for privacy and security compliance. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) can fine offices who are not HIPAA compliant anywhere from $100-$50,000 per violation or per violated patient record. HIPAA is not a one-time project you can set aside, or you could set yourself up for possible breaches and security obstacles. The best strategy to keep opticians competitive is to negotiate the best price before you provide them with your insurance information. If you are a returning customer, chances are they will already have that information on file. If they routinely try to take advantage of you and try to charge you as much as possible regardless of your cost, which is the current MO of most optician stores, go online and price out frames and lenses before you go to the optician. After conducting a search of Boise Opticians, with the exception of Americas Best Contacts and Eyglasses, all other Boise opticians that I contacted, including Walmart, were conducting business similar to EyeMart with their primary objective being maximizing profits with little or no regard for being fair and reasonable with customers. In contrast, America's Best provided lenses and frames at less than half the price of EyeMart Express and the other optician stores I contacted in Boise. Americas Best is also very courteous and professional, providing a 60 day free exchange. Under current management and in accord with corporate policy, EyeMart Express is neither courteous nor professional. In fact they were rude and uncooperative when I informed them that the previous manager provided us with price matching to earn our business. Hence, although we are loyal to our opthalmologist, we now buy our eyeglasses exclusively from Americas Best (or we buy them online at Goggles which is about the same price. Goggles does not require a recent prescription). Unlike Americas Best and the trend of other optician stores, Americas Best will also replace lenses in old frames. Though there is a wait required before they send you your eyewear, it is worth the wait. Can't say enough about the excellent customer service, quality of eyewear, and competitive pricing available at Americas Best. read more

Great experience from A to Z beginning with phone etiquette and customer service. I had been shopping around for glasses because progressives with glare protection and blue light block are very costly and not an item you want to entrust with an online purchase. I want customer service so if/when something happens with my glasses, someone has my back and all frames come with a one year guarantee. The folks at Eyemart Express do just that. Robert Malone help me out on my initial visit and was patient beyond words with me as I tried frame after frame after frame. When I narrowed it down to three he helped me with my final selection. Robert explained to me about glare protection in my progressive lenses and lots of other great information. He also sold me on a one year warranty on the lenses for only $49. If for any reason anything happens to those lenses in the first year, Eyemart Express will replace them at no cost to me. That means scratches, breaks or chips or whatever... That's a heck of a deal, especially for pricey progressive lenses like mine. My lenses had to be sent off because they were a more complicated prescription but they were back in 10 days. When I went in today to pick them up, Robert wasn't there but Lisa Williford took great care of me as she fitted my glasses to my face and let me brag on Robert and the business. I started at another optical shop I found online (America's Best) but it was night and day difference in EVERY ASPECT of my experience. Just like other reviewers said, the lens are in lowest grade possible, the coating on my $300 progressive lens starts to crack like spiderweb after hitting the sauna for a few time at 10 minutes each. Worst, lens have no warranty of any kind unless you pay extra warranty. All others has 1 yr manufacturer warranty but not this place. I guess they know they use poor quality lens. Note: most of the good review said "cheap $", just I didn't realize that their products are also cheap in quality. read more

The selection is decent and store location was relatively convenient. Melody demonstrated excellent customer service, and was very willing to work with our circumstances and answer all of our questions. The drawbacks were that even though they are in-network for our insurance, they did not have an active certification/login with the insurance company and said they would need "a few days" to request a new one. This delay totally eliminated their main benefit, which is to have glasses ready within a couple hours. Also, staff knowledgeability of lens types and helping to educate us on that was lacking. We ended up buying the glasses without insurance coverage, and both pair (regular Rx and sunglass Rx) were done in around 2 hours. Impressive. read more

My first opinion of this business was not good. The girl who greeted me was abrupt and robotic in her health screening questions. This was my first visit there and if that had been the way the rest of the staff behaved I would not be back. However, the rest of the staff was lovely. The technician was thorough; all health cleaning practices were done efficiently and effectively. The doctor was fantastic. The walls were thin so I could hear her speaking to another patient in the next room. She was very patient with that person and although I could not hear the context of the conversation I could hear that it was lengthy and the tone of her voice was kind and patient. Her visit with me was very professional and thorough. She was engaging and offered explanations for all of my questions. The staff that helped me with my glasses was kind, knew her job very well and although she was not the office manager she should have been. Bought 2 pairs of glasses a year ago and was not fully educated about the different types of lenses. I've Experienced constant dirt attraction to lenses and am always cleaning them. Returned to the store yesterday and spoke to a new employee who consulted her boss about the problem and Nothing was done. I wasn't expecting a refund but suggestions to help. Returned to store and spoke to Cassandra, the manager, who has wonderful customer service skills--aims to please But at the same time is a good business person. Although I absolutely love my frames, I detest my lenses. This is most likely due to the more expensive lens that I was persuaded to buy. I bought sunglasses also, without the extra coating and I can see very well with them. By the way I love those frames, too. AUSTIN at Southpark----I've a half dozen pair of specs from here over the years and even when purchased with the same RX, the vision seemed different. I purchased a pair at my optometrist's office, knowing they would be expensive but exact RX. Then In August I went to EE with the same RX, ordered shades. 2+ weeks later (sent out for mirror tint) the RX was blurry, GM said they should never have used the wrap arounds since my astigmatism does not work with them. Shopped again, waited again, went in last week, blurry. I could not drive with these. Took them back, guy said "that's the BEST THEY CAN DO". Huh? Said "you could take them to your optometrist, see what was wrong, return them for correction". HUH? I left them with a note for the GM to call me...waited 2 days, called again. Nothing. I went here 3 years ago and it was the worst. I had to go back 5 times and they never got my prescription right. I still have a pair of glasses I have never used. Today I decided to give them another chance. The staff was friendly and knew what they were doing. Within 1 hour I had 2 pairs of glasses and both prescriptions are correct. Apparently there was a shake up and this location and were lucky enough to get themselves a talented lenses tech. His name is Eric Willworth. Earlier this week I called in and to ask how much a contact exam would be. I was told $110 for a contact and glasses exam for cash pay. I then asked how much it would be for just contacts. I was told it would be the same price. After getting this info, I gave the lady on the phone my vision insurance info and asked how much I should expect to pay for a contact exam. She told me $10. I thought this was great and scheduled an appointment. When I arrived for my appointment today, the staff and the doctor were great! Dr Rouhani was very thoughtfully and made sure I left with the perfect contacts! The reason why this experience was very bad in my opinion is when I checked out I was told the cost was $70. I asked for a detailed explanation of the $70 and the front desk employee told me $10 for the exam and $60 for the contact fitting. I asked could I have opted out of the contact fitting and just received a script. She told me I could not have done that. So I replied, do you think it is misleading to tell people they will pay $10 for a contact exam with their insurance if it in fact will cost $70. She said it was misleading and was a mistake on their part. I feel like this happens all the time at medical facilities and it really annoys me. $70 is not expensive, but it is 700% more than I was told it was going to be! Honesty is important. The optometrist , Mark, was very good and thorough with my first time in the store. But, after my eye exam I went to purchase my glasses, the gentleman helping customers with glasses was rude, short in all his responses. Like he didn't have time for me or my concerns. I believe a coworker left the store for an appointment, which had left him by himself to handle the many customers in the store. But I was disgusted at his behavior, so I left and went to a local eye care center to purchase my glasses. Even though I paid more for my glasses, it was worth the customer service I received that I did NOT get at Eyemart Express. For my first time in eyemart express, I wasn't impressed what so ever. So this is one of those places that sells cheap glasses and tries to get you with that "2 pair for $80" thing, when really you'll probably end up paying over $100. My experience. I went in on a Saturday around 1 PM and no one greeted me or asked if I needed anything for quite a while. The selection of glasses was OK and they had some discounted frames from name-brand designers. I picked out one of the cheapest pairs they had ($20) and had my prescription faxed from my optometrist. The glasses were ready in an hour... So far so good. When I tried them on I could tell something was wrong but the lady working behind the counter did nothing to try and help me figure out the problem. She asked if I it was a new prescription and when I said "no" she just folded up the glasses and handed them to me like "see ya later". It was weird. I came back two days later and they tightened the glasses a bit. A little better, but not fixing the problem. I came back a third time a few days later and they finally realized the lenses were slightly off from what was prescribed. So the problem was eventually fixed. I wish I had gone with my usual glasses boutique, Eclectic Eyewear. It wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with this place. if you do go there and have a problem I recommend talking to a manager because no one else on the front end seems to know much about eyewear. Prices were not as advertised. It took 2 weeks to get my glasses. So I vowed never to come again! 2nd time - Apparently I came here again...Poop on me. Again, Tiny was not only difficult to deal with, but he forgot to take my PD. Got the glasses after 7 days which was fine, but sucks to be me, I couldn't see a damn thing out of the lens because Tiny didn't measure my PD. Yay life. 3rd time - Nope. read more

A lot of misstatements in their TV ads. Cheap glasses only if you want the most generic plastic single vision lenses and ugly frames. Second pair free only if you have insurance. If you don't - too bad! You get to foot the entire bill yourself out of pocket and then get screwed out of that second pair. I guess they take whatever pittance the insurance pays them for the second pair. Oh, and if you have to have something more complex than simple lenses they have to send them off and it's not one or two hours, it's TWO WEEKS. Customer service lacking as well. I bought glasses here but I don't have a lot of confidence that I will get what I wanted. If not - they get them back and the charge gets reversed. read more
