Normally i am not a person that would leave a negative review but i feel this would be helpful to other people. First of all let me say Dr. Gittens is great and very professional. His staff definitely needs attention in this case Natalie. I was given a lasik surgery for my birthday and was referred to Dr. Gittens office. After my initial exam i was told by Natalie that she would reach out the next day with the appointments for the pre-op and surgery date. After two days I contacted the Rocklin Eye Center to follow up and I was informed that it could take up to a week to get a surgery date. After about two weeks i finally get a email from Natalie stating the dates and times of the pre-op, surgery and post-op. Surgery location was to be determined and she would let me know for sure next week (8/24). Never heard back....... So I go in for my pre-op on 10/15 as the surgery is two days away, in the meantime no communication or instructions on what to do or not to do. So i go in and they tell me I cant have the surgery as I am wearing my contacts....what!! I booked a Europe trip and my work schedule around this surgery...... Well, not the end of the world you would think. Natalie apologizes for the lack of communication as she has been away for two months coordinating the surgeries and just got back in it last week... So after talking to Dr. Gittens we decide to reschedule and do part of the pre-op. He guarantees me that Natalie would reach out to me tomorrow (10/16)with a new date for the surgery... Now two days later (10/18) no email or phone call with an update on the new surgery date. If i was Natalie and was given a second chance I would be all over it, I am not sure if this is a common problem at this center but there is definitely something wrong there. I have decided to move on and find a different eye center for my Lasik surgery. May this be helpful if you want to schedule your lasik surgery..... read more

The office is friendly but I always feel like they are trying to upsell you and this makes it difficult for me to trust their advice. I continue to have issues with poor customer service at the eye center. I left a message last week and called back today because no one ever called me and was told I would be added to a call log and apparently I was never added last week. I'm definitely done with this place. Great doctors but poor customer service!! On top of that, they tried to get me to purchase glasses for a child who doesn't need them and stated, I have great insurance and should just get a pair. I just had my appointment. I have been going to the eye center for years. The Doctor's have always been awesome and it was the same again today. It is the office staff. WOW there have been some major changes. If I was only dealing with the doctors and the testing staff things would be great but when you have to deal with the front office and order contact/glasses it is a mess. They have new people that are not being trained or are being trained and the customers are being ignored. I was being helped by a new employee that had only put in 2 orders and they just left her out there on her own. She was so professional about the fact that they had just thrown her out there it was ridiculous. I felt so sorry for her. Shame on them. No one was helping her. I was so frustrusted as well I just left. Not sure what I am going to do in the future I just love the doctors there. I hope the doctors do something since its their practice. read more

This place sucks. I ordered Oakley's and I had to wait hecka long. I'm waiting on lenses to be made. You could have made them while you waited for the frame. It's a very common size. Plus phone service is short staffed. I get to wait and have to call a bunch of times to get text messages with no reply. Very unorganized. Poor quality service read more

The customer service here is a DISASTER! The eye doctor I saw was great; very helpful; very informative, but the office staff sucks! The front desk girls rotate like a revolving door, and when I call the ones who answer the phone can't ever help me. First they always ask which location I'm calling about, but when I inquired on a separate occasion, I am indeed calling the Rocklin location specifically so what's up with that? It makes me think I called the wrong number. To order contacts over the phone, forget that. Only 1 guy can do that, he hardly picks up his extension, and apparently they don't order contacts on Fridays or Mondays, which I was not told. Oh, and they make you pay at time of order- what a mistake! To find out if my contacts have been ordered and arrived takes a lifetime. I paid on a Thursday over the phone, and I was told they'd be in in less than a week, which seems average and given that I was almost out and going on vacation, that would work, but then I never heard from anyone. I called to find out what was happening on the following Thursday; oh looks like those weren't ordered yet- seriously? I came in and they did give me a 2 week supply to hold me over until they came in. I figured no problem, they'll be in when I get back after my week vacation- NOPE! Oh now they were conveniently backordered. Why was that not previously mentioned? Completely unacceptable especially because now I'm getting ready to go out of town for 3 weeks and need to see! I put a fire under their bum and suddenly, magically, my contacts are not on backorder anymore and they got them in for me within 24 hours. Damn right! To sum up, from the day I paid for the contacts it took 3 weeks exactly with no communication from the office- if I had not called I still would not have any contacts. For all my hassle I should have gotten another 3 month supply for free but I didn't have any fight left in me. Moral of the story: DON'T GO HERE!!!!! read more

We went there for years and the doctors were good. The support staff is awful. I won't write a big long rant I'l just stay this. We we were there last this company had just opened their own lab. Glasses took forever and then we learned the lab reversed the script. Lots of excuses for delays & glasses were not right when we got them and had to be re-done several more times. We were made to feel this was somehow our fault. Customer service is lacking - and making a customer happy is not a prime concern. I did later learn that those who encourage you to spend more are indeed on commission. The doctors are good but the staff is cause for concern. read more

Stay away from this office. This is the worst office when it comes to communication or service. I left a voicemail several weeks ago about an issue with my contact Perscription and haven't received a response. Every time you try to call the office there is never anyone there to answer and you're forced to leave a voicemail and obviously they've proved that they can't respond to voicemails. My husband had the same issue several months ago. No one ever answers the phone it takes a very long time if anyone responds at all and they can't seem to get prescriptions right. I have been going here for many years and have been seeing Dr. Gittins the whole time. In fact when I had vision coverage through Kaiser I still went here for my checkups. As for concern for up selling, of course they sell frames and services. I get my frames here because of the service and the quality of their care. But don't complain about prices because you can always take your prescription elsewhere. I will continue to go to here because I want my eyes evaluated by a physician not simply someone who can give me an optical prescription, but not monitor for eye disease. read more

Have been experiencing some pain in my right eye and decided to look for some options. I called the fair oaks branch since it was closest to me. They told me the soonest they could get me in was at the Rocklin branch the next day. She said it would be $85 for the visit without insurance. I get there, lady sits me down and tells me it's $283.... She mentioned that they had only been open for 7 weeks but how can you not communicate something like that? I recently visited this location for an eye exam and to purchase new glasses. I had been having issues recently with my contacts and the doctor quickly figured out what the issue was. I received a sample of eye drops that helped immediately and the sales rep gave me some samples of a different contact brand to try out. The rep helped me go through a bunch of frames to find the perfect pair for me, he even went in the back to find a few other pairs that weren't on the floor. He went above and beyond! I was leaving town in a couple days so they were able to get my glasses ready on short notice so I had them for my trip! Thank you to Dr. John Coen and Matt Wise for the awesome service! I have been working with Katie for several years to help me select the best frames and lenses for my glasses. She is very professional and helped a great deal because I need prism lenses for my regular glasses and sunglasses . Yesterday I needed adjustments to the temples of my glasses. Katie spent the time to take out some of the lenses so the adjustments could be made without damage to my glasses. I was pleasantly surprised at how my vision was impoved by the adjustments she made. This place is awesome! I lucked out that they took the insurance I had. Everyone is super nice & the doctor explains everything to you in a way that's easy to understand. I hadn't gone to the eye doctor In a few years & the equipment they use is so advanced. They take pictures of your eyes to find any possible diseases that you could have. It blew my mind all the stuff they have now to check your eyes. The only down con is they don't have that large of a selection of frames. Not to big a deal since I did find something I liked. They have excellent care here! I come in for yearly check ups and to order my reading glasses. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and Dr. Gittins diagnosed my problem right away. I can read for about 15 minutes, but then my eyes get tired. My prescription fixed my problem right away and I can read as long as I need to. The opticians are very knowledgeable of fashion trends, and are great of picking out frames. They're not afraid to tell you if frames aren't the right fit for you. They really want you to look your best while staying in your budget. My one complaint is that the glasses can be very expensive, but they're very high quality so I understand the prices. If you don't have insurance, be prepared to pay a lot of money for their glasses. I love this practice, and will go here as long as I can! read more

I am so glad I found a reputable place to have my eyes tested and pick out great frames. Dr Brenda Coen was great, she really put me at ease. She explained all the testing that was done and answered all my question completely. I would highly recommend the eye imagining instead of getting dilated, it was quick, painless and was able to drive after the appointment. That is the single reason I don't get a thorough exam, I just hate getting my eyes dilated. Melissa Stewart helped me pick out my frames and her advise was invaluable. I feel like she really understood what I wanted and explained the types of lens that would work best with my prescription. Staff is friendly, service is quick, frame selection is VERY extensive and doctor was very accommodating. He specializes in contact lenses and unfortunately my husband's eye condition went undiagnosed elsewhere, but Dr. Lilley fitted him with a special contact lens and his vision improved dramatically. EYEcenter Optometric should thank Mahaila for this review. I was very apprehensive switching eye doctors after having the same doctor for 27 years. But, I was frustrated with having to travel two hours round trip to get to the office...plus I am a loyal customer when I find great service and great prices. I finally made the switch and chose off a paper list which made me nervous. First, I had my appointment. Then, my two children had their appointments. This is what I found ... The front office staff is FRIENDLY! (so important) There is a really cool espresso machine that's fun to use while waiting. The wait wasn't awful...impressive. The exams and tests were comprehensive...no short cuts. The back office ladies were FRIENDLY! (so important) Both doctors that we saw between myself and the kids were great. So, at this point I give a 4-star...better than average. I hit a road block that dropped it down to a 1-star just about this point and so I left. But, things just didn't seem right. So, I waited a week and returned. To my utter delight I met Mahaila in the optical department that turned that 4-star to a 1-star all the way to a 5-star. Why? Mahaila (optician) understands elite customer service. She listens to her customers. She doesn't short customers on service or product offerings. She is funny. She is efficient. She maximizes your insurance benefits. She is REAL! And, for that reason, I give EYEcenter Optometrics a FIVE STAR RATING!!!! I just visited this office this afternoon (3/8/2017) to look at new glasses. As I walk into the office the receptionist asked me how can I help you and I said I am looking for new glasses. The receptionist at that point asked for my drivers license? for security purposes before I can look at glasses? I asked why they need a copy of my drivers license and they said for security??? I felt so uncomfortable in front of other customers I left. It seems they make a copy of your drivers license so what do they do with my information.. If this company is so scared of having the frames stolen maybe they should lock everything up behind glass! Don't visit this company !!!! read more
