I saw the mixed reviews but I didn't see any by elite reviewers, so I gave Phoenix Eye Care Center…read moreof Ahwatukee a chance. Check in was easy, taking only 5-6 mins. The lobby was pleasant, if a bit small, with cold water bottles available. The pre-check (glaucoma, eye shape, etc.) was done efficiently and the tech was very friendly. I was taken back, right on time, for a quick vision exam, and then waited about 10 mins for Dr. Jenna Rubeis to drop in. She was very professional and she explained everything she was doing while checking my eyes thoroughly. I needed glasses, so a different tech walked me through various options of frames, features etc. I ended up paying $667 for the whole enchilada, which I thought was about right. I think you'd be smart to check them out. Most of the negative reviews were written in anger and frustration, probably due to those patients' negative outlook.

I had a very disappointing experience here and would strongly caution others…read more When I ordered my glasses, I was asked whether I wanted progressive lenses or standard lined bifocals. I clearly chose progressive lenses. I was also asked if I wanted transition lenses and was quoted pricing both with and without them. After insurance, I was told transitions would cost about $100 more, and I agreed. The associate then helped me choose frames and even marked the lenses where the progressive portion would begin -- which reinforced that I was ordering progressive lenses. However, when I received my glasses, they were neither progressive nor transition lenses. When I called to address the issue, I was told that I had ordered lined bifocals without transitions. That is absolutely not what I selected. Later, the explanation changed to "most insurance companies don't cover progressives," which does not change the fact that I was told I was purchasing progressive transition lenses. To make matters worse, their computer system was down the day I placed my order, and I was not given a receipt. When I asked why I paid for transitions but didn't receive them, I was told I could "add that for less money than progressives" -- even though I had already agreed to and believed I paid for transitions. The only solution offered was to replace the lenses with what I originally selected -- but only if I paid over $400 more. That is unacceptable. You cannot quote someone a price for specific lenses, deliver something different, and then demand hundreds more to fix it. They also refused to accept a return. I am now out $400 for glasses that are not what I ordered. Due to this experience, I have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and the Federal Trade Commission. I would strongly recommend finding another eye care provider.

I had taken my glasses from last years prescription and they were able to test and compare with the new one. Which was really cool and helpful to know that I need a new pair. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to find the perfect pair that fits my face. I narrowed it down to these two. I will order one through insurance and buy the other. Great location !

I took my mom, who's English is not the best, and just wanted to make sure everything went smoothly. From the start, the receptionist spoke to my mother with such disdain when greeting her and when explaining why she needed to sign on the tablet. She went through everything so quickly and when my mom asked her to repeat or didn't understand, the receptionist looked annoyed. I almost lost it with that interaction. I had to stop and explain to my mom what she was signing for but if only the receptionist would have just tailored her language a little when it comes to documents and signing so the customer can fully understand that would've been helpful. Like, I understand that's it's 10 a.m. and they were working with a bare crew (from what I can see) but we did not deserve that kind of service. Then, when my mom finally saw the doctor, the appointment seemed rushed and he seemed to also be annoyed at having to ask my mom to choose between which lenses were better. I saw him frustratingly scratch his head a few times. Like, is this how we treat elderly people?! I did have to help her understand the flow but once she understood she was good. First of all, he didn't even explain to my mom like "hi, we are going to check your eyesight and I'm gonna have you tell me when one is clearer" --- none of that. He went right in and assumed that she would understand. Once we were done with the optometrist, we went back to the front to get our paperwork because at that point we only needed the prescription and we were not going to spend a dime on glasses with the experience we'd gotten so far. So as my mom is getting her paperwork the receptionist assumes my mom wants glasses and my mom politely explained she doesn't want to purchase at this time and that she needed the prescription requested by her employer but the receptionist is STILL being so curt and dismissive. Overall, I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND this location. Customer service is horrendous and they all seemed like they don't want to be there. We only chose it because the night prior they had online scheduling which was very convenient for my mom's time sensitive work request.

I was never called (SanTan Location) to let me know my glasses were in. 2 weeks later, when I called I was told "they're behind schedule" So, I decided to switch back to the Tempe (Priest/Elliott) store where we had gone in the past when I had trouble with the glasses. So, I went in last week to have them check my glasses -- they never took them from me and referred to my doctor. (Kyle) I went to MY Dr, who slightly altered the prescription and I went back to the Tempe store. (Both The Dr and another employee confirmed the prism was incorrect causing my problems) Kyle is who I saw again today. He blamed the doctor and me for the wrong prism and tried to intimidate me. Didn't work. I got a new pair of glasses replaced with new frames but I will no longer give Eyeglass Workd my business after this. Kyle had the gall to ask if I went to to a licensed optician and then told me all of his qualifications (why does this matter?).. He said if this doesnt work we are out of options and Eyeglass World would no longer be able to assist me, My Dr would need to change the rx (I trust what my Dr says more..) I told him he was at risk of losing my business next year but he was unapologetic so by the time we had walked out of the door, we both decided our eyeglasses wont come from here anymore. We will go elsewhere after how we were treated. Shame on you, Kyle and Eyeglass World.
