I've had to wear glasses since in elementary school! I've been to many Optometrist offices. And let me tell you, I truly appreciate how Dr Murphy is so passionate about providing the best care for his patients. The technology used is mind blowing! After receiving care here, I've come to realize how OLD SCHOOL many private offices and even huge retail chains are. "Is one better, two better?" "Here is your prescription"... "Here is an eye drop for that".. "See you next year!". For the longest time, I thought my vision had gotten worse. I was constantly trying to refocus especially on the computer. Come to find out, it was dry eye and my prescription had not changed! MGD!?? Did ANY doctor mention that to me before or ask the questions needed to figure that out?? Nope! I received a Dry Eye Treatment and my world changed. Now I can wear my contacts all day without being blurry or uncomfortable and no more having to blink hard to refocus all the time. They also educated me quite some time ago on the harm light from computers can do to my eyes. "Blue light". Since I stare at a computer all day I have a blue light protector on my glasses. My eyes and head don't feel as achy by the end of the day. Now I'm starting to see all these places promote blue light protection. Sorry people my Doctor was on that first! I also spend about 50 bucks more and get "digital lenses"! The clarity is honestly unbelievable for me being that I have a higher prescription. I'm so impressed with the level of care here compared to ANYWHERE I've been in the last 20+ years and appreciate Eye Designs and Dr. Murphy for changing my life. Forever a patient! read more

I've been a patient at Eye Designs Optometry for at least 30 years, and I've never had any issues with the ophthalmologists--the eye exams have always been thorough and professional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately, the front office service has gone downhill over the past few years.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Because of pricing and the declining service, I stopped purchasing my glasses there. However, after my most recent annual eye exam last month, I decided to give them another try. That turned out to be a mistake. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The technician who helped me choose frames didn't listen to what I was looking for and instead kept pushing her personal preferences--mainly designer brands like Gucci and Tom Ford.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I clearly explained what I wanted, but she ignored it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I eventually found a frame myself, but the overall experience was so uncomfortable that I left before completing the order.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A few days later, I returned and asked for a different technician. I completed my purchase and paid over $500 for my glasses. After waiting about 2 1/2 weeks, I received a notification that they were ready for pickup. When I got there, I discovered the glasses were missing a nose pad that I had specifically requested and paid extra for. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I brought this up, instead of an apology, I was asked, "Let me check if you paid for it."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was clearly on the order and already paid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was then told to wait for a manager to call me when she returned to work. No one called[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to follow up myself the next day, and when I finally spoke with the manager, I was given the runaround with no real resolution or accountability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After many years as a loyal patient, this is incredibly disappointing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This location is not customer service centered.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cynthia, the assistant who begins the initial testing, is rude, doesn't explain anything well, and gets irritated when you ask questions regarding what she said or meant - she is very soft spoken and expects you to hear her from across the room and when you don't she won't come to retrieve you, she will simply treat you like garbage.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Additionally, she is listening to music with earbuds while she is performing tests, very unprofessional. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cindy, the extremely rude and abrasive optitian doesn't know how to let someone finish a sentence before abruptly cutting them off, nor does she know how to get off her condescending, lazy behind and assist a customer trying to purchase some frames (after asking multiple times for assistance - she never helped) which will unfortunately add to her commission.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She also fails miserably to upsell anything, and when she fails, becomes extremely salty. She treats people terribly and has the personality of a parsnip. I hope to never again encounter this shade of a woman. I think it's time to retire, Cindy. AI will be replacing your position soon, anyway. If I didn't need to use my benefits today, I would have walked out and went elsewhere. Additionally, I have a sty. The optometrist was nice enough to recommend an extremely overpriced face mask (which Cindy failed to bring out without me asking her after the optometrist asked her twice), and he told me that unless I had the area treated for 10 minutes at a time that it would be ineffective... that is very strange as AI seems to have a very different opinion, as well as common sense. What a scam lmao. After I get my glasses in 2-3 weeks, I'll never return. We purchase our eyeglasses through this location. My wife recently got a new pair of sunglasses. When she tried them on, they were blurry and she couldn't see out of them. She wanted a refund but they refused. They offered to give half back. Then they figured out that they had mistakenly put in my prescription into her new glasses instead of her prescription. So she had to go back into them and provide them with the correct prescription again and they promise to this time get her glasses correct. I just don't find that to be a very well run business and as for me... I'll find a new place to get my glasses next time. I would advise you to do the same. read more

Have to reiterate my 0 star review. After months of trying to get the issue resolved with multiple visits and phone calls (visits are extremely inconvenient for me since this is far from where I live and I have a bad back) they did not resolve my issue. They continued to gaslight me by saying the edges are not polished. Eventually I went to a different shop and got new glasses made without polished edges. I went back and once again the employee I dealt with started out by saying the edges were not polished. When I showed them what non-polished edges looked like on my new not-from-them pair of glasses, they started saying they couldn't do anything for me since so much time had passed. At that point I was done. I left them my $500+ pair of glasses and exited. Basically, since I asked for non polished edges: - They should never have taken my order to begin with if they couldn't satisfy it. - They shouldn't be talking a customer down by pretending they are providing a freebie with polished edges. - They shouldn't be gaslighting customers saying that polished edges are not really polished. - They should have acknowledged their mistake and fixed the problem as soon as they found out about it. I have dealt with multiple employees there and the experience was the same. I can only conclude that incompetent and insensitive service is part of their DNA here. My use-or-lose insurance dollars needed to be spent and since my regular optometric office didn't have any frames I liked (translation: I am very picky) I started a search that eventually led me to Eye Designs. Yes, as others have mentioned, the parking lot is a complete trainwreck - small and constantly packed - which of course is not their fault. They are wedged in alongside a large AT&T store and a popular sushi restaurant, both of which are always crowded, so you do the math. On the plus side, their evening hours are helpful, which is why I found myself stopping in one evening on a whim to scope it out. They had quite a selection of designer frames and I easily found a pair of Ray-Bans that I liked. I didn't get a pushy sales pitch as others have mentioned in their reviews. My experience was straightforward, helpful and a breeze. If you're like me and like to shop your prescription around for what you want, I would definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

The staff is super nice and helpful and and the dr is very nice and helpful as well and the place is very very clean as well. They have so many glasses and sunglasses to pick from and they are willing to work with you and everything. I have been coming here for years . I highly recommend this place for everyone. And So in about 2 weeks they will call me to pick up my new glasses my prescription went up and also on top of it i now have to have bifocals as well on top of my prescription. And the glasses I got are so cute I love them an I will have to get used to how they are because they're gonna be made differently than how my current ones are because I have to have the Bifocals in them now so it will take some time to get used to and they explain everything to you and help you out with your new glasses and or contacts. My last appointment was both late and rushed and the Optometrist didn't take much time explaining or interpreting the results of the test like previous Optometrists did at Eye Designs. I was unclear as to the change in my eyesight from my last exam so wasn't sure if I really need new glasses. I also didn't get to choose which Optometrist I got to see, I really like to see the same doctor each year, if possible, this one was a bit difficult to understand. First.....I love the fake 5 star reviews, all from people with 1 review total. Maybe if you spent more time taking care of customers instead of hiding in the back room posting lies ............you might get good reviews. We have been using Eye Designs for 7years, no big complaints for the first 6. When they moved we stayed with them out of ease and loyalty. Over the last 6 months we have had two problems......... 1. Stopped to pick up contacts and paid the price quoted in full and received a recite showing paid with zero balance. A few weeks later we get a bill saying we still owe $25 dollars that they forgot to charge. Now $ 25 is not a huge burden , but when I called, nobody could explain the why/what of it. I was told "it was just the way it is now" 2. My wife went in for her yearly appointment and was told there was now an additional charge for contact fitting. When pressed why she would need this service after 6+ years of doing just fine............"it is just the way it is now" We both thought it was shady that these were charges they expect the customers to cover. I have an idea, take the extra $$$$ you charge each person and maybe you can use it to train your employees. We understand costs go up and normally wouldn't have a problem with small increases........its just a bitter pill when rude people deliver the news. The attitude both times was........you don't like it, there`s the door. Just remember that door swings both ways. Spent a few minutes on yelp and found a new provider in Gold River, when I called to ask about services they were delightful to chat with. I got a pair of glasses without anti-glare as I have done before but the glare was so bad I took them back to get looked at. CINDY called me today to see if I wanted to get the anti-glare because the lab had determined there was nothing wrong it was just due to the frame. Also telling me twice that the lab keeps calling her everyday and bugging her about it as if it is my fault. I told her I did not want to get the glasses then because I already have a pair and don't want to pay $100 for the anti-glare. I also asked her if the insurance is going to get refunded because I don't know how that all works and in a very rude tone she told me "I don't know what you are talking about" then explained the process to me like I was stupid. She told me she is getting the glasses back from the lab and I need to come get them because they are mine and she is not going to throw them away and I need to have them in case I have to drive at night and it's raining. Talking to me like I am a child. The glare on the glasses is so bad that is disrupts my vision and she is telling me to wear them at night when it is raining? (That sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.) At the end of our conversation I told her I would come get the glasses, just to get her off my case, she told me next time I need to "Save a couple dollars to get the coating"... I am not a child, I am a customer, you are providing with a service that is being paid for, you do NOT tell my what to do with my money. My mother has been a long time customer so I told her what happened and she called to complain. When she called Cindy answered the phone and told my mom the manager was not in and wouldn't be back until tomorrow. My mom let her know the complaint is being filed towards her and she would be calling tomorrow to speak with the manager and told Cindy to get her ducks in a row. Cindy told her she doesn't need to get anything in a row and she isn't worried about it and hung up on my mom. I have worked retail and for the service industry for 11 years and I know how to be professional and polite and the way this woman conducts herself is surely not the correct way. read more

I have not visited the store, but this review is based on my phone conversation. I will say that the office was very courteous and professional over the phone and was willing to accomodate my busy schedule for a last minute appointment. For that I will say that deserve a 5 star review. I am a former customer of Eye Designs and have bought a pair of glasses there in the past. The customer service then was, again, great. My negative review has to do with its company policy regarding contacts. Besides your usual co-pay for annual exam, I have been told that now they are charging "contact fitting" fee in the amount of $75. Now I understand if it's the patient's first time wearing the contacts then they should make sure it's fitting correctly, but I have been wearing contacts for over 15 years. So I asked if I can opt out of this charge, which is not covered by vision insurance, and I was politely denied due to company policy. I think it's absolutely obsurd that I should be forced to pay a fee for something that is not medically necessary. It almost reminds me of restaurants denying the use of credit cards if the bill is too low. Anyway I went to another optometry and only paid my usual co-pay and NO contact fitting fee. I recommend the company to change the policy, or have an opt-out policy, just like any other medical facility. read more

This retailer has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I needed a new pair of glasses and looked up their address online. They were located in Sunrise mall and I took off work early and drove there to check out their frame selection. Too bad they had moved but hadn;t updated the website! I then drove to the new loation down the street and found a pair I really liked. I had a checkup and purchased the frames and they were great for a month or 2. Then one of the earpieces pulled out of the actual frame. Within a few days and before I could get them into the store, the other earpiece also pulled out of the frame. It seemed that the plastic of the frame was too weak to hold the small piece of metal that attached to the earpiece. I brought the frames in and forgot one of the earpieces. they said they needed both earpieces to get a replacement, so I drove home and found the other earpiece and bropught them back to the store. They ordered a replacement frame. I went in wehn the new frame was in and they swapped the lenses and I was off and running, or so I thought. I got home one afternoon a few weeks after getting the new frames and went to put on the new frames after taking off my prescriptin sunglasses and one of the earpieces pulls out of the frame again. this was after having them less than a month. I made another appointment and went back into the store to get my eyes checked also and get a different frame since the one I had like obvioulsy had a design flaw at the temple. they said they could only order the same frame again. I explained to them that this was 2 identical frames that bopth had the same issue and I needed a frame that would not break. I've worn glasses for 40 years and have owned perhaps 15 pairs in that time and have never had this problem. They insisted that all they could do per Kaenon's policy was to get another identcal frame. they weren;t even sure inittally if they could because they said I bought the glasses last summer, well that was the first frame! I asked them to make it right regardless of the MFD policy since it was clearly an problem with the glasses and they said no, we won't and that it was my fault for putting the glasses on or off with one hand. So, now I will drive back to the store for the 4th time, and pick up my broken glasses and try to find someone to repair them if possible. read more

We have been going to Eye Designs for years. They moved out of the convenient place they used to have at the mall to a place with no parking. My husband ordered glasses in September he finally got them today, was charged an extra $10.00 because of a frame change. He never changed the frame order himself (they did that). They said the original order was back ordered, then not available, then ordered a new frame also back ordered. They didn't even adjust them when he picked them up. He discovered a screw was missing and went back. They put a screw in that was too big. They were very courteous but somehow that doesn't help much. We are tired of the hassles and the expense. I made an appointment with Eye Designs. At the time talking with the lady on the phone I immediately put the appointment on my calendar and I let my work know that I would be leaving early on the 25th for an appointment. I leave work early yesterday and get to my appointment and I needed to call when I drove up. I called and they asked me my name like 2 to 3 times and then proceeded to tell me that I don't have an appointment today that it is next week. I said no my appointment is today. I was so blown away with her attitude, like I was the one in the wrong. I sat there for a minute and pulled up my email and it clearly says my appointment was on the 25th of June not 2nd of July. I called her back and said she needed to read her email that was sent to me. Still she wanted to make me out like I was wrong. My mistake. I should have stopped patronizing this business when my third pair was "iffy" at best, but due to "convenience" I let myself go here again for another pair of glasses 18 months later and this time they screwed me with ZERO consideration that I had become a regular customer. Nutshell? After two failed attempts (one in December, one in January) with two different pairs of progressive lenses, manager Jessica Gutierrez and I agreed to keep it simple and just go with a single lens prescription. All good, buy my co-pay was for progressive lenses. One of the staffers told me to my face I could get a partial refund, but Jessica clearly told me, "We don't do that here." WTF? Gonna charge me for something I am not receiving and Eye Designs thinks this is ok? Umm... NO, it is not. It is not worth ($$$) my time trouble and effort to pursue a small claims courts case. Yet it is NEVER ok for any company to steal from the customers, even more so, customers who had become regulars. If you go here for glasses, tread with caution and protect your wallet, purse and pocketbook because this place will attempt to dig deep into them with little regard for YOU as patron. As I sit here in my $400+ single lens (free frame!) "reading glasses" I am wishing I would have just gotten 3 pairs of Foster Grants at the local pharmacy for less than $100. I should of went to yelp first to see it was only 3 stars. I am very disappointed with my experience. I had 2 appts. scheduled. one for my daughter and one for me a couple hours later. I cancelled my appt during my daughter's. the wait was long, communication was terrible and the assistance with looking for frames was not good at all. upon checking out It was clear the associate just wanted to upsell without having any product knowledge on what she was selling. having to wait 3 weeks to get my daughter's glasses was not what I expected. I would say that the new location is slightly more roomie but the parking is limited. My optometrist is fantastic! Very friendly and knowledgeable of the eyes. I appreciate how she explains things in terms that I can clearly understand what is happening. The other associates of the location is either a hit or miss. I once received oh so average/below par service but the last few other times I have been there and have worked with other associates, the service has been good. I do appreciate the phone call/text reminders of appointments. Not a whole lot of selection as far as frames but hey, this is a VSP insurance spot with 2 other store locations. Nice office. Great doctors. Great Customer service. Appreciate the high tech equipment. These people really care about your overall health. No pressure (air puff) test and option for photos instead of having to dilate my eyes. I hate dilation drops FYI. I have VSP now but once had Medi-cal and they've taken care of me the same way since day one. They gave me so much info on dry eye and how it's been affecting me. This place is very slow when you have an appointment for 4:30 and you are still sitting waiting to be seen at 5:15 that's a problem. I have things to do after asking they said they were behind. I have advice you should tell people before they wait 45 min that you are behind I ended up leaving the staff is rude and really didn't care that I had to wait never once did anyone apologize I would not accept that from my employees. read more
