The rating I selected 4 stars is only due to the fact that the drive is not paved. Honestly, that is not a big deal, in fact it can at times be an asset for drainage into the ground. The slab / foundation is clean and smooth while the building is secure and well built. I have rented both the non-climate controlled unit and now have a climate controlled unit is is awesome. This facility is centrally located and couldn't be more convenient for someone who runs the I-35 corridor. The owner of Outlet Self Storage is a true asset to the business and has been extremely helpful and available whenever I have a question or need. Having explored other units in the area before I choose this one and at a time that was right after the flood, I was shocked to find several neighboring facilities that had been flooded. I know based on the history of these units and the way they were build, I doubt I will ever have to worry about mold, or water damage at Outlet Self Storage. that is a huge piece of mind! To call it a GIANT, GLARING MISTAKE would be kind. A more appropriate term would be COMPLETE F**K-UP. I will never use this place again, and would be happy if I drove down Hwy 123 and saw a "CLOSED" sign on the facility...not that you'd see it at night. Sorry. Got ahead of myself there. My first gripe... When you're trying to enter the facility, the placement of the keypad makes it damn near impossible to enter the keycode without getting out of your vehicle (unless you're riding up on a bicycle). No, I'm not complaining that the keypad is too high or too low. But it is situated in such a manner that you have to park, get out of your vehicle and then put the code in. I only brought this up in the interest of safety. As a man, this doesn't bother me. But for women, that can be cause for concern...especially when I mention my next issue. Next... The lighting for this place is terrible (nearly non-existent) at night. The only lights are at the front of the facility. The majority of the lights on the outside of the buildings are burnt out or not on. So...although there are cameras, unless they're night vision cameras (which seems unlikely, given that the lights weren't working when we first got the unit, and had not been replaced when we returned 2 months later) they're not going to see anything. So, be prepared to leave your car running with the lights on if you want to see while loading or unloading at night. Thirdly... I called their phone number for 4 days and left 4 different messages before getting a call back. Customer service is near non existent. Finally.... F**king. Mice. Yes. I saw a mouse in my storage unit when I returned. They got into one box of mine, but fortunately nothing of importance was damaged. But does it matter? Does it matter whether they got into a box and chewed on some papers or if they destroyed a Faberge Egg? No. Because the point is, there should NOT be mice in your storage unit. Although the price is right, the value is not. I would advise spending a few more bucks and going with one of the major chains near the area. Stay far, far away from 123 Storage and their other location, Hunter Storage.
