We chose this specific storage place because my parents have been customers here for more than 8 years. I was hesitant, but we were in a rush to move out of our house due to our home remodel. The house was being demolished soon. Bilal who works the front desk office is very professional, informative, thorough, helpful, etc. He provided information that would benefit us (he needs a raise ) and even helped my parents get a bigger storage for a lower rate (there were deals going on at that time). We purchased a 10x10 unit at a good rate. To lock in the monthly cost I recommend paying the whole year since prices can fluctuate. The only reason why I knocked 1 star off is there was a lady (assuming she was renting a storage space) & she had her van door open with a sheet covering and it looked as if she was napping in there with her feet sticking out . Another time (around 10pm Saturday) there seemed to be some sort of party/rave and it sounded like it was in the building. I get it though it's hard to control people. read more

I've been with Exra Storage for a few years. I've had no issues with renting at this location. Staff has been helpful with certain issues I've had with my unit. They've been very responsive. I like their app and the digital access to open the gate/doors instead of entering an access code. read more

Do not store your stuff here! The rates are low, but it comes at a hefty price. Our unit was BROKEN INTO!! Thousands of dollars of stuff stolen when the slider on the door was forced open. It seems from the most recent reviews this is a common occurrence and I only wish I had read the reviews before choosing this location. And after I reported it to the staff, NO HELP AT ALL. Literally a polite email telling me there was nothing they could do, (aka. fuck off). Like what was the point of all the security cameras and gates?Inconvenience people when they move in? Would not be surprised if the employees were in on the scam. Our unit seemed almost targeted with the thieves only taking the resellable valuables and leaving everything else untouched. Do not recommend this place!! After my stuff was BURGLARIZED (thousands of $$$) I found out several other units were as well and that this is a common occurrence at this location. They tell you the gates and security cameras make everything very secure but the reality is a stark contrast. If you want to store anything valuable or personally meaningful, look elsewhere. I also felt very unsafe when I would visit my unit alone. After what happened to me here, I'll never use this company again. read more

I've been storing furniture at Extra Space for many years and at different locations. This last huge price increase, without notice) was exploitive and unfair. The staff at the local office is very nice, but they seem helpless to do anything related to Customer Service. The Extra Space corporate office could care less about their customers based on my experience. I used to have a larger storage space with A-1 Storage, but the price got too high. I decided to downsize to a 5x10 at this facility. When I signed on about three years ago, the price was $64.00 plus the mandatory insurance charge. Now I pay $131.00. It seems that every so often they raise the rents just because they can. I'm now paying about the same as I was paying at A-1, but for a smaller space. These people know that we need storage space and how inconvenient it is to be moving from place to place. I know their overhead hasn't doubled in three years, so why has my rent doubled? I'm headin' out! read more

When I first started using this facility I thought it was great. Prices were average, staff was extremely helpful, and I could at my stuff at any reasonable hour. The staff is still helpful, but prices have gone way up. (And insurance, which used to be optional, is now mandatory, a cheesy hidden cost.) And then some carts got stolen, which doesn't say much for their security. And instead of installing more cameras or something, they decided to keep all the cants in the office, which pretty much eliminates any advantage you get from being able to access your space when the office is closed. This is a well run business operation with excellent, professional staff and a clean and technologically advanced building. The only reason I didn't give it a 4 star is because the pricing is a bit bait and switch in my opinion. I responded to an ad of "first month free" (sign up fee of some sort, which was like 30 bucks) and then was told I had to buy insurance which was 9 a month, and buy your own lock, which was 10 a month. Annoying games like that aggravate me, and could be done without. As far as the last reviewer, I'm sure that the jump in price was because you had a promotional rate. They do a very good job explaining the details of billing and when your promotional rate expires. 1 star?! c'mon 12/16/2007 I have added a star to Extra Space. I have had to interact with them a couple of times since I first reviewed them, and they have consistently impressed me every time. I had some deliveries made to the storage unit that they called me about upon delivery to keep me updated, AND let me keep in their lobby until I could get there later in the day. Most impressive was that I had to postpone a payment due to cash flow issues, and they didn't even bat an eyelash to it. This was relieving to me and really saved me a lot of stress. read more

Yes, it costs a lot.. a lot LESS than other places! Most unit sizes that they rent out come with first month FREE! They also have SJSU specials!! The people are all very nice, the place is very clean and professional.. it even has air conditioning (so it's safe for your electronics and what not). They also have FREE trucks that you can borrow (first come first serve, with a $100 deposit that you get back when you return the truck). I highly recommend this place! If you live close to SJSU and need a storage unit, pick this one! read more

This is an outstanding storage facility! The management is awesome: highly professional, knowledgeable and accommodating.,I have stored there for approximately years, and feel it is superior to any others I have viewed. The halls are kept shiny and spotless, and the air conditioning really help when moving items in and out. There is even background music to add to the pleasant atmosphere. I have never had any reason to question the safety of my stored items. I would give this facility a "6" if possible. read more

After our unit was *broken into* and many of our belongings stolen, they never followed up to ask when they could fix the roll up door. When we called 5 months later to ask if they could move us within the facility and fix the door, we let them know we had priced comparable units they were $130 less per month elsewhere. When we said we were leaving they finally offered us a unit that was $100 less a month. So we agreed to stay, then *after* we moved our things they gave us the runaround: We saw the charges were not correct the next day-so I called and they told me that I had to come back again to get the rate that they had promised me on the phone (and that they had told me in person the day before). I had specifically asked if me or my husband needed to come to the office to do the change after we moved everything, and they said he could do it. The next day, their story changed, but their excuse was 'we didn't discuss rates, and you said to transfer it' Ridiculous! Now I had go in person, AGAIN after he had already transferred it in person with a pandemic raging....because for some reason they had to rent the storage unit in my name instead of my husband's to transfer it at the lower rate. I think they just wanted to charge us more each month rather than give me the competitive rate.They wasted my time and insisted on more in person contact during a pandemic- after my unit had been *robbed* on their facility. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for your storage needs! I would leave zero stars if I could. read more

I've been renting a storage unit here for the last 2 years. I have to say, at first, I was in a rush to move in. My unit is a 10x10 unit on the 3rd floor with climate control at $114 / month (including insurance). The place is fairly nice inside and I usually have no problems finding a cart as they are usually at the first drive up opening near the office. They have pretty good hours and often I can access my goods at decent hours 7 days a week. Ok to the not so good part now. First, there have been a few times when the back entrance gate was broken and I had to turn around and go through the front again. (minor issue, but it was still annoying knowing how much I pay for this place). Second, they pretty much made me get my own insurance which is another added fee on top of the monthly rent. (disclosed of course at the last min before I signed my paperwork.) Third, I have steadily seen my rate increase from $114/month to the current rate of $161/month. That's over a 40% increase in the last two years or 20% per year. You basically get a small post card in the mail TELLING you that your price will increase. At first, I thought it was just a one time adjustment for prices and services to go up due to inflation or something, but after this last increase, I'm done. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THESE THIEVES. There are better deals are out there, but if you can't find one then figure out if you really need the items in your unit. I've practically paid for the entire content of my unit 3x over paying these prices. read more

This place is very clean and the staff is super helpful! When I went to put my things in storage, there were two carts right by my loading area and it's elevator access!! The only frustrating thing is that the lock mechanism is tricky to buy locks for. I bought a long clasping lock and it took a lot of wiggling to get it to fit. It is really clean and the access is inside on the second floor so I don't have to worry about the weather. Also, I would suggest they install some sort of lighting inside the storage units. But, they value is amazing and it's cheaper even than some of those dirty outdoor drive up units with bugs and flood risks, so it can't be beat! read more

It was so relieving to work with Extra Space Storage after taking our business away from Public storage down the street due to their complete inefficiency and hidden prices. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. The storage unit was clean and I felt confident leaving my things there. The fees and pricing were very straightforward and cheap. I have conducted business with this facility twice and they have been very helpful and professional especially Vanessa Davila. She is super nice and helpful!!! We need more people like her. Storage units, facilities and premises are always clean. I see staff maintaining the area either sweeping or even painting. I would have given them 5 stars but lately the exit gate has been left open and that is a security issue especially when one is inside the facility either loading or unloading. Another issue I have is that I suspect homeless folks live inside the storage units (second floor). I see them go in with their backpacks and bags. If you have been using this place as a stroage for awhile, you would know what I mean. read more

The only reason I took away a star is because it has been several months since they have not fixed their 2nd (exit) gate which now has a lock on it. Due to this, 53ft semi's can no longer enter this facility so people who are renting this place and require a 53ft semi to deliver their furniture will be extremely disappointed. Also, many transient people are nearby. And one more negative, the bathrooms are closed after hours and all day Sunday so please plan accordingly (very inconvenient). Now for the positive: very nice staff, very clean, I never had problems with any transient people, I always found a dolly to help move items (two are usually located by each elevator), elevators never had any issues and payment was simple and docusign (electronic signature) is convenient. read more
