UNIT WAS BROKEN INTO 2 WEEKS AFTER MOVING IN. Theft happens, though never to me before this but that is not why they deserve 1 star. They get one star because the facility has made no attempt to assist in the investigation. It took 8 phone calls just to have a manager call me back, and even then the guy spoke hostilely toward me when I challenged them on why they hadn't reviewed the video footage 2 weeks post the theft. Come to find out they said the video resolution was too bad to make out details. Don't let them fool you. These guys love taking your money to let your stuff sit in a locker but when you ask them to actually DO anything for you, good luck seeing any return. read more

They continue to raise the rent, automatically charging my card. When I've gone in to the office, I've been told someone will call me back with no follow up. So I followed up and had them say they would reduce it to the internet rate since the elevator wasn't working for a few months, but the higher charges on my credit card kept happening (about 25% higher). This has gone on for a couple of years. They say they've sent me notices but I haven't gotten them. I'm now being charged just about DOUBLE what I started at about 4 years ago. Changing to a new place. I didn't give one star because their gate hours are better than others. Others here have complained about security which is pretty alarming, but I've never had anything stolen. read more

I am extremely disappointed. I feel I was hustled by this company. I found them in May. They had a deal where the first month is free. When I asked them about the first month being free they said it would cost me more money and I should stick with the $108 a month for the storage. 3 months later they send me a notice stating my storage is going up by $200 a year. They suck you in with a low price then increase it because they know it's going to cost more money transfer to a new storage company. Do not go to this business. It is a rip off. My rate increased within 3 months of being a customer. I was never told I would be subject a rate increase. The company should be called the BAIT & SWITCH storage company read more

If I could give a negative, I would. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. The staff are horrible to work with. They like to say one thing over the phone or while the manager is out of the room and then act like that was never said. The manager thinks that by saying "we have all worked here for 10 years" is a validation for incompetent staff. They will also just gladly charge you for things that you never asked for and misquote you and act like it's your fault or responsibility. They will also tell you that you're over reacting and handling things the wrong way when you confront them of your frustrations. Oh, and good luck getting ahold of them on the phone. I tried calling and leaving voicemails for a week and never heard back. When I finally did speak with someone on the phone, my sentences were cut off and I was treated like a 5 year old and told that he didn't have time for me and I needed to calm down. I was not yelling, I was not crying, I was not even speaking loudly because I was at work and even if I wanted to yell, I couldn't. He then even basically threatened me by stating if I come in and give his employees a "hard time," he won't be able to help me. If it weren't for the fact that I just paid movers and am exhausted from the first move, I would get my stuff and be out of there in a flash. Horrible customer service. Not a safe place to leave your stuff in storage. Security gate broke early in the week and its been open all week and into the weekend. Ending up with my boat that we stored there for 15 years is now stolen. Staff doesn't seem to care they took 12 hours to call me after they noticed my boat was apart of a very large heist there. Several boats and trailers stolen over the week of the gate broken. You figure they would fix the gate asap or have a secruity guard sitting there but nothing. Its sunday today and the gate is still wide open and no guard there at all. Not a safe place like the other reviews say and the staff is not friendly. Please beware! If I could give it a negative grade I would. I purchased that boat new in 1999 and had it for 18 years. We used it all the time and now its gone because of there neglect of not keeping the yard safe as promised with my monthly payment. Shame on you Extra Space Storage Karma will fix who ever stole my boat and Karma will fix who ever drop the ball on not keeping my boat safe with out fixing the gate and with out leaving a security guard at the gate till it gets fixed. I started out loving Extra Space Storage. I have used them twice in different places, it was affordable and the unit was easy to access and the people would always say hi as I drove in they were very friendly. Then it got a little weird. I feel the need to write this review so this wont happen to anyone else. I moved from California and left my stuff in the storage unit. I keep getting notices n the mail saying my rent is going up $10 every tw months or so. I called and asked them why and I didn't get a straight answer. When i call the guys are inconvenienced to be taking my call about why my rents going up. What I did get is that apparently they're doing some sort of "Maintenance" around the unit and they're charging me more every two months. I was also told that it can go up every 30 days as long as you get a notice. Great, sure but They are not even willing to work with me. I'm not quite sure what I did to upset them but I feel like it's more of a personal fee at this point because this has never happened to me before with you guys. That doesn't make any sense to me and thats pretty messed up. I was paying 69 now I'm paying 89 and it's gone up significantly very recently. I will be coming to pick up my stuff before the next due date. read more

For the most part the two desk clerks Angel and another young lady are very helpful. I had an issue with my bill. I then received a call back from the facility manager which was very unprofessional. The manager was very aggressive from the start, I have no problem paying my bill but I just wanted help understanding it. The manager laughed at me and pretty much was a flat out bully. I called corporate no help there either. Bottom line save your receipts and try another facility other than the one on Cedar their manager is a reflection of what goes on there and it's not good at all. At one point I had to relocate units due to construction going on and we had to move our belongings eventhough it wasn't our fault. New management is a must. I manage over 100 employees and I would never treat my customers in the manner he treated me! Remember without your customers you have no job... read more

So when looking for storage, everybody usually uses the internet for the best deals. That is how i came across extraspace storage, they gave a good internet rate, so i took it up and went there. Upon sitting there and discussing with the employee the terms, we started off at 72$ then at the end when he saw i didnt want to add on any of the other services, he proceeded to show me the contract details that he was supposed to inform me about, he was very sly and thought that i didnt see that he made the price 77$ and when confronted with that he gave an excuse of some kind of fee that had to be put on top. I immediately thought that this isnt starting well but was tired from looking around and went through with it. That was 5 months ago, i now look at my monthly statements and saw that they increased the monthly amount rent to 89$ without informing me at all. Obviously i called and they said that my internet price had expired and that it has gone up to their normal price. I wasnt happy to say the least but they didnt care because they know that they got you, they gamble on the fact that most people will be too lazy to come and move their stuff for a 12$ increase. I proceeded to ask if there will be any more increases and they honestly answered that there probably will be in another 7-9 months. Again NONE OF THIS was explained in the beginning obviously because they know you may not rent it if you know. The problem isnt so much the increase in rent but that the fact that THEY DONT INFORM YOU, they just take the money from your card. In my eyes this is unprofessional, misleading, sneaky and false advertisement. i just so happen to be in a position where i can reach the masses through certain social media very easily and will make it a point to expose this dishonest behavior. I will be relentless until everybody connects the name EXTRASPACE storage with misleading dishonest employees who with their fast talking, try to misdirect your attention away from their increases. I have asked for my contract and they still havent sent it to me. The only reason i gave them 2 stars was because of the truck service they provide when moving in. After that, every word that comes out of their mouth feels and IS... dishonest! read more
