They stole my high school football duffle bag which had had signed footballs by chargers players. Vintage 90s chargers jerseys, hats. Starter jackets. To top it all off, I had to throw away a brand new king size bed frame due to having rat urine on the pieces, rat feces all over the storage unit and dead rat carcasses. The "management" told me that the insurance I was paying covered all of that: the insurance company doesn't cover theft or burglary. The management team was not supportive nor did they reassure me that my things would be safe. I took my things out of there 2 weeks ago.

It's frustrating because I was simply looking for a place to store my belongings, set up autopay, pay my bill on time, and go about my life without constantly worrying about price increases or having to deal with issues on my own. It feels like customers who are reliable, pay on time, and barely require anything from the facility are not valued. I ended up going to Stor-em on Pacific Highway, where they offered me a larger storage unit at the same rate for an entire year, with no increase during that period. That is how you earn a customer's business and build loyalty. I would much rather support a company that values its customers, provides decent service, and offers honest, predictable pricing instead of attracting people with a low introductory rate and then nearly doubling the cost after just three months. My advice is to shop around and compare rates before signing up. I found a better option elsewhere, with more space and predictable pricing. To Corporate Management, I am writing this review to express…read moremy deep frustration and agitation regarding my experience at National City Self Storage. While the base rental rates appear reasonable at first, the facility relies on uncommunicated fine print, rigid payment terms, and poor customer service that make storing here a nightmare. Key issues that require immediate corporate attention: Excessive Lock Fees: Charging $20 simply to cut a lock on top of $15 for a replacement lock totaling over $35 is unreasonable. Unfair Billing Restrictions: Customers are not allowed to clear a prior month's balance individually once a new cycle starts. Even on the very first day of a new billing period, you are forced to pay both months together along with late fees, regardless of financial circumstances. Uncommunicated Payment Methods: Staff failed to inform me that certain fees must be paid strictly in cash in person. Having funds on a card forced me to incur additional bank/ATM cash withdrawal fees. Severe Neglect of Customer Care: I was forced to navigate all of these hidden hurdles in 104°F heat with my 2-year-old child. Had staff explained these policies upfront, I could have completed everything in one trip instead of exposing my child to dangerous heat. The staff and facility policies failed me as a customer and as a parent. I am posting this publicly and contacting corporate so that this location is held accountable and forced to reform its transparency and customer treatment.

There were several employees around, one person was on the phone, another employee walked right past me, and I was simply left standing there waiting to be helped. I was ready to check out and was literally standing at the counter, yet no one greeted me or even made eye contact to let me know someone would be with me. The employee who was on the phone eventually asked a coworker if they could ring me up, but again, there was no acknowledgment or communication with me. The coworker was very wishy-washy and seemed like he didn't really want to help. Meanwhile, employees were walking around doing their own thing while I stood there waiting. I ended up waiting 5-10 minutes just to be helped, which is ridiculous when I was already standing at the register ready to pay. What made it even more frustrating was that when someone finally started the transaction, I didn't even realize they were actually ringing me up. The employee then got on her phone before the transaction was even completed, and I had to prompt her to finish so I could actually pay with my card. This wasn't about expecting some extraordinary level of service. A simple "Hi, we'll be right with you" and actually completing the transaction would have gone a long way. Instead, I felt completely invisible as a customer. Customer service seems to be becoming an afterthought in far too many places. If you're working with customers, please put the phone down, acknowledge the people standing in front of you, communicate with them, and actually finish the transaction before moving on to something else. Very frustrating experience, and unfortunately, not the level of service consumers deserve at a basic level.
