To be honest the thought of walking into a storage facility has always scared ever since Silence of the Lambs. I was shocked at how clean the facility was and how well lit the halls were. I decided to trust my belongings with A-1. I can honestly say that Gina and her staff went out of their way to assist me and I couldn't be happier. After a year I found my place and recently got my things out of storage. Everything was exactly how I'd left it, no spiders or critters in my boxes. Okay, so I needed a storage facility. I originally thought of A-1 because it is close to where I will be staying in Chula Vista. Then, upon researching, decided I really wanted ground floor access and A-1 was a little to expensive. I had decided, in my head, to go to Eastlake Storage. The day before I was going to secure the unit, I decided to check out the reviews on Yelp for Eastlake. They were NOT great. They were pretty recent, and they were talking about theft, and surveillance and bad customer service. I thought I should research a little further before committing. Back I came to A-1 Self Storage - and checked their reviews on Yelp. Five Stars all the way. Every review mentioned Gina, so I thought - for sure - she had written them herself! But, after receiving all 5-star reviews, how could I not go check them out? I did that this past Saturday - and lo and behold - who assisted me? Yes, Gina! She is EVERYTHING the other reviewers said she is! Professional, yet fun and friendly. She was SO helpful in assisting me with picking the right size unit. All that aside, I wouldn't have gone there if the place wasn't top notch...I don't have a lot of stuff, but it's mine and I want it safe. The place is AWESOME...clean and secure. It is convenient and they go out of their way to make the process painless. No, I didn't get a ground floor unit, but the access is pretty easy and the elevator is huge. I don't think I will have any trouble getting my stuff in. I could have saved myself a lot of time by just going with A-1 in the first place. I would say that having the need for storing items isn't high on anyone's list which usually means it is a process and you get through it as quickly as you can. That being said working with A1 Storage and Gina is far more than you would expect. My story is as follows.. I was moving my household items from the midwest and could not tell exactly how much space I needed. Gina worked with me in multiple options and pricing promotions to see what would work best once my items showed up. Well it took nearly 30 days for my stuff to arrive however Gina was checking in on a regular basis to see how things were going and provided new updates on units that would fit my needs. Suffice to say she was in contact with me vial email and over the phone all the way up to the delivery point. When I finally got to the office she and the team had everything ready to go exactly as she described the process to be. Everything we discussed was in writing with no surprises. The facilities are quiet and clean with many options. The pricing is very competitive with other properties in the area. At the end of the day working with their team was what took it over the top and made it a pleasant and positive experience vs a process you deal with as quickly as possible. If you have storage needs long or short term, do yourself a favor and reach out to Gina and the team. I am confident your experience will be helpful, pleasant and positive regardless of if you ultimately choose to partner with A1 Storage in Chula Vista. Give them a shot. Overall very satisfied with my rental unit (5x5) it was just enough room to store my items for a couple months while looking for a new apartment. It is a well maintained, and a clean storage ground. I always saw workers tending to different areas, always friendly. My unit was on the 3rd floor in the 800 area, my only negative comment is that the buildings aren't well ventilated, so whenever I went to my unit it felt like a sauna! For this being my first time utilizing a storage unit, I have to say Evan here at A-1 Self Storage made everything seamless. Before even visiting the location my wife called to get an estimate. I got an email right away from Evan with the costs. We went to this location after work and was accompanied with awesome/friendly service. The location is clean on the outside as it is on the inside. Evan gave us reassurance that rodent control is on premises 2x a month and as needed but facility hasn't had any issues with rodents. When we went to look at our storage unit there was a cleaning crew actively cleaning the place. I've heard of horror stories with Self Storage, but I think I got lucky with this one.
