I CONTRACTED HANTAVIRUS DUE TO RODENT-INFESTATION HORRIBLE COMPANY. A BA-JILLION ZERO STARS. I CONTRACTED HANTAVIRUS AND GOT GRAVELY ILL because rodent-droppings, rodent-pee, dead rodents filled my unit. Their failure to control a facility-wide pest outbreak and allowing a colony of rodents to freely roam the rafters constitutes facility-level negligence and unlawful. Management ignored me and NEVER CONTACTED ME. TREATS ME LIKE GARBAGE. 15.5 YEARS OF PAYING OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE OVER $20,000, AND STILL HARASS ME FOR MONEY. VERY ALARMING THAT MANAGEMENT HAS LIES IN ITS COMPUTER ABOUT CONTACTING ME. ALL LIES. MY PHONE REGISTERS ALL CALLS. NO CALLS FROM OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE AT ALL. NONRESPONSIVE TO ALL MY EMAILS. JUST CONSTANT EMAILS THREATENING ME FOR PAYMENT OR LIEN ON ME. NOT ONE TIME HAS MANAGEMENT CALLED TO DISCUSS/APOLOGIZE TO ME FOR ALL MY PROPERTY-LOSS. I HAVE REQUESTED MULTIPLE TIMES TO OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE TO SEND ME THEIR INSURANCE CLAIM FORM. NO RESPONSE. I CERTIFY THAT OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE MANAGEMENT HAS NEVER ENGAGED WITH ME TO FOLLOW UP ON ALL MY PROPERTY-LOSS BUT CONTINUES TO HARASS ME FOR PAYMENTS AND NOW HAS PUT LIEN. BRAZEN MESSAGE TO ME THAT OTAY MESA SELF STORAGE DOES NOT VALUE MY 15.5 YEARS OF LINING THEIR POCKETS. have paid Otay Mesa Storage from 2/19/2011, over $20,000. Now I have NOTHING TO SHOW BECAUSE OF FACILITY-WIDE RODENT-INFESTATION. ALL PROPERTY DESTROYED. Serious facility or policy complaints. * Pests and Property Damage: Some long-term renters have reported severe rodent infestations, including chewed boxes, ruined clothing, and damaged paperwork, alongside slow response times from management regarding property damage claims. * Strict Fees and Policies: Complaints highlight aggressive fee enforcement, such as steep charges ($200+) for leaving trash behind or late departures ($250), combined with restricted access to trash disposal bins. * Steep Ramps and Maintenance: Customers note that older sections of certain local facilities feature rundown infrastructure, steep inclines, and locked waste receptacles. Locked or non-existent trash bins, forcing renters to haul garbage across steep inclines. * Steep Rate Hikes: Sudden and significant monthly rent increases after initial promotional periods or long-term rentals have frustrated departing customers. NO AIR-VENTILATION/NO HVAC. Rodent/rat infestation in the building. The women that work the front desk and friendly and attentive. They answer questions with transparency. The establishment itself is quite old and rundown. There are no amenities nor climate regulation within the units. The plus is their pricing and they lock in rates for up to 12 months. read more

So we are going to be moving and need a place to store out items. We looked up different places in our area and came to this place first. The gentleman that helped us was Zee. We get a free lock for writing a review. They also offer various discounts like, active military, veterans, first responders and seniors. You do need to have insurance/protection plan. I think that's a good idea. You can get the plan the place offers or get your own. They also have bathrooms on site, just Incase. For us this works! Good luck on your move if your reading this and moving too! read more

Otay Mesa Self Storage - Free lock with a review. - Self Storage Near Me - San Diego, California

Otay Mesa self storage has been very helpful with our storage needs. I was given detailed information regarding renting a storage unit and pretty competitive pricing. I absolutely recommend Otay Mesa self storage. read more

my rating is zero. Horrible company. shady practices. gouches customers. unaffordabe. rent-increases every year and nothing in return while every year, reducing hours of operation. don't value customers. Out in the middle of nowhere. Rent increases every year like they're renting apartments, including demanding 30-day notice before leaving. Only one garbage bin on premises. They force insurance on customers to inflate your bill. I AM REPORTING TO PUC. Most incredulous is the manager z saying to me: corporate raises rates every year because everybody else is raising rates. motivation enough for me to clear out and stop doing business with this company that does not value long-term customers and customers in general. greed over customers is this company. read more

The best self storage, I book online everything is fast I recommend 100% Good location and the best service at the office I like so much

Excellent customer service provided!! The facility is well maintained and secured. Highly would recommend and will definitely use again.

GREAT place. Started my move in process today, and so far everything has been smooth. It's everything you would need when looking for a unit. Otay self storage is gated with security, clean units, and an easily accessible location. I was helped by one of the managers, Kris. Kris was very helpful with the sign up process and made sure all of the questions I had were answered. One of the best things about this branch is their one year guarantee pricing. Their prices were some of the best I've seen, but their policies are what sealed the deal for me. Unlike most places that require 30 day notice before leaving, this branch says they'll work with you if ever you decide to leave. I definitely feel comfortable at this location... not just with my belongings, but all with management as well. read more

Good fair prices. Good costumer services But my wife did have an unfortunate event at this facility. They broke into her unit taking an estimate value of 4500$ . And insurance did not even cover half of our valu No security system other than the gate that sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. Stated by their own staff, Please take your business somewhere else In this case don't try to save a couple of bucks that in the long run would lead into major loss for you. read more

Very easy process to register and affordable. The person at the front desk was very professional and helpful.

I had been using a storage facility off Pacific Hwy for several years, but needed to be able to work out of my unit a few hours a week. After some searching, I found Otay Mesa Self Storage, and Armando hooked me up with a space slightly more than 2x larger for less than 2x the cost. These guys are ridiculously welcoming, friendly, and helpful. I live north of the 94, but make the drive to the 905 1-3 times a week and it is well worth it. Added bonus: I really love looking at Mexico, and it is seriously right there. A few blocks south of the 905 exit and you can see the giant flag, and the hills... Love it. read more
