Updated: So at 115PM, I met with the postman while he was delivering mail. I asked him about policy of mail hold. He showed me the copy of my Mail Hold Request and told me "all" of my mail was in the post office as it's supposed to be at since it's specifically stated that " I will pick up my accumulated mail". So I am guessing the staff did not tried enough like the previous time she didn't find my mails again. ***This review is for the staff that seems cannot find my mails every time I have my mails on hold when she's the one helping me*** Original/First Post What's the point of requesting a mail hold and specifically adding a note to " I will pick up accumulated mail" if mails are not available for pick up? I was told by the staff; it's better to stop by at the post office to request instead of doing it online which doesn't make sense. They should just get rid of online request for this specific Post Office since they cannot follow delivery option requests. This is the second time I had issue and it's the same staff. This is an update review, one year later. I visited the store three days in a row to mail out a special project. When I arrived at the store, I noticed how clean it was, as well as all of the merchandise was very neatly arranged. They had two clerks working the window and there were about eight customers in line. All of the customers seem to have very important items to ship and or mail out. I noticed that the two window clerks were very helpful whenever customers had questions. They were very patient and they seem to know everything that they needed to give the correct information to each customer, and taking their time to make sure the customer understood them. This is very important in this type of job. I remember decades ago when I was on the window and it was very important that people understood what you were explaining to them. The reason why it is so important is because the Postal Service has paying customers who really want to feel comfortable with the brand. I had to assemble some items in my project so I used one of the islands in the box lobby. The box lobby is very clean. It is tidy and it's well kept. I also found that these workers take pride in their post office, constantly walking through the areas to make sure that there are no Pieces of trash, pieces of paper, nor random items hanging around in the areas of the post office. Overall dislocation is very nice and is great. I absolutely love that the community decided to name it after The Honorable Judge Earl B Gilliam, a legendary Black Legal Field and Law icon in San Diego. read more

Awful awful place. Always a long slow line. Their carriers NEVER deliver our packages right. Some have been lost. You call and call but no one EVER picks up. One time, I called every fifteen minutes for a week. No one answered. They go through carriers like I go through Charmin. Different carrier every day and none of them seem to know their you know what from a hole in the ground. And the so-called supervisors are like everyone and everything else in San Diego: a whole lot of talking, a whole lot of nothing. No substance. They just say what they think you want to hear to get rid of you. Like much of San Diego, this post office is the worst I've experienced in all of the places I've lived. read more

This very rude African American lady working Wednesday right before closing at 5pm came in 2 minutes before closing just to pick something up from the mail real fast wont even take a whole minute, just getting off work from the ship and i have no other time to pick it up she couldve atleast been more kind about telling me if she really didnt want to let me get my mail, but dont be disrespectful and rude about it. She noticed that the Zip Code on the package I was mailing for my wife was wrong. I called my wife to verify and also so she could be aware for the next time to double check the zip code. I used to do all my drop off and pickup here when I used to live near Skyline and Trinidad, it was a bit of a drive to get to this post office, standing all alone in the deep woods, although I have to agree with some reviews that sometimes if you missed your packages, it got delivered back here and seemed to get lost or hard to track, if I got here to get it, they would tell me it was out on delivery and vice versa, kinda weird, make me lost trust in their service until Amazon came in and I switched to their system, well those were the days, everything here still the same, they got automatic entrance and exit, plus a busy long line inside all the time. read more

This is an interesting US Post Office in that it's off the beaten path. It's larger than most in San Diego. I stopped in to purchase some snail mail forever stamps. I noticed they sure do offer a lot of package mailing supplies which is good if you are in the hunt. They have a decent size parking lot but it can get congested on busy days. Lady working at 1pm African American lady calls me up and I'm asking to check on a delivery issue and to pick up my package with a message I received. She asks for the adress as I did not have tracking number at the moment. She goes back tells a joke to whoever is seating in the back and I'm assuming is either about the bump on my forehead or my autistic son because I'm not sure what else could have been comical within those 10 seconds of "checking" as I go back to my car to get tracking receipt I come back in and she quickly asks to go to the bathroom and leave her co worker with a line now. The lady who helped me second didn't even take the tracking number to the back as it seems lazy postal workers can't do anything without the number apparently when it's not even used in I find the package physically. I gave her street adress again and she went back 10 seconds later with my package. Its employees like this that try to hard to play victim by passively being rude and unhelpful to customers over a tracking number specifically for deliveries, I've worked hospitality over 10 years now and I can tell you workers like this ruin your business. I will pray for her though. My son will never have a job he hates. read more

Today's negative experience was the last straw that broke the camels back... Over the course of years, there have been a bunch of times where this Post Office location does not open at the time advertised. Today I waited in line for 35 minutes. On a Saturday this location says it opens at 0930 so I waited in line until 1005 and they still were not open. There were about 20 people waiting, little by little people left with about 8 people left before I left myself. Not one Post Office employee made any kind announcement for the reason for the long wait. It's a shame because some of the clerks I do enjoy working with, however this incident just totally did it for me and I will no longer support this Post Office. From this day on I will drive further to another post Post Office just so I do not give my valuable time, money and business to this location. read more

Worst location ever!! I had a first class package that says it was delivered in my mailbox but it was never there!! Why scan something when you don't properly deliver it to the right place? Makes no sense. I've been calling and no one has an answer for me, all they say is that they will investigate which they never do. I'm now waiting two months and no one person gets back to me. This U.S. Post Office is always very clean inside and out. Like most post offices you will find an assortment of shipping boxes, envelopes and labels for the various shipping methods. There are also a variety of all occasion cards on a display stand and several gift wrapping products for those last minute unprepared mailers. P.O. Boxes are available for a reasonable rate. Now the downside to this location is the counter staff are slow and not very friendly. They are efficient and well trained but they lack energy. read more

Every time I go into this post office it has the most positive energy and work environment among the employees. Last time I was at the post office I met Mario, Dolly, Jennifer and I believe one of the supervisors Usif. All of them were so awesome and professional and obviously hard working but maintained a happy place. You could see that they probably got more accomplished because of the work climate during stressful times like these. No one really knows how the climate of a work environment unless you work for that company but from my outside view as a customer I enjoy coming here and seeing them all happy and enjoying their job. I understand that working for the post office can be taxing on the employees but they don't show it here. I adore my post lady! She always has the most positive spirit. read more

As everyone else has stated, I would give them 0, even negative stars if it was possible. I genuinely feel that this nightmarish place has actively taken every step possible to frustrate customers and ruin their whole experience. Firstly, I can't understand why they accepted a package from Amazon that they knew they wouldn't even attempt to deliver. Secondly, I followed the instructions to go pick the package up (because re-delivery isn't available for my address! Something tells me this is true for every address in the area). When I did so, after waiting in a 30 minute line of 3, they told me that the package wasn't there and that, and I quote, "it must be OUT FOR RE-DELIVERY?". That's about the point that I started getting frustrated. I waited a week. Then I began calling, just to see if they had the package or if it was lost. [[THEY DO NOT ANSWER THEIR PHONE, DO NOT TRY YOU WILL WASTE HOURS OF YOUR LIFE]] The USPS Customer Service line ALSO does not provide an opportunity to speak with a human representative, so you're screwed into driving into this awful part of town, just to speak with someone who has no idea what is going on, has lost your package, and has no plans to correct the situation. Rarely do I take the time to write a review when I am fuming mad but this time I'm not holding back. I recently ordered a package on Amazon and was tracking its delivery for Yesterday. I knew I had a busy day of running around and I was rolling the dice with catching the delivery in between meetings so I was shocked when I received a text and email that USPS had attempted the delivery while I was still at home. "We tried but were unable to deliver your package. It's now available for pickup at your local Post Office. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you'd like to schedule another delivery attempt, visit USPS Redelivery and enter the tracking number 936128994914412XXXXXX. Please look for a notice of attempted delivery." 1. No ringing my gate, which calls my cell phone. 2. No knock on the door. 3. No "notice of attempted delivery" was left on either my gate or door. 4. I visit "USPS Redelivery" and it instructs me that I'm not able to have it redelivered. 5. I call to schedule the delivery and they tell me "we'll try." 6. This morning the tracking doesn't detail my package as "out for delivery." Taking a chance I decide to drive to this post office where I ended up speaking to a representative at the counter. "Oh, you have the big package," funny, I know. I mean, I'm not going to argue but it seems like this delivery already has quite the reputation at this post office. I tell the worker, "I don't think they even attempted to deliver yesterday and no notice was left on my door." Her response: "Nope, he left it here two days in a row because he didn't feel like lifting it." I was in utter shock. "Are you serious?" She replied, "yes, you can grab it now." I had always heard the unfortunate stereotype of lazy-ass postal workers and I know that it's not representative of all USPS employees, but damn, today I stared laziness embodied dead in the eye. Today I went to this post office to mail a small parcel. I grabbed a small mailer from the shelf that was labeled: 5X9 - $0.59. When I went to the counter, I was serviced by a younger Middle Aged Hispanic woman with moles on her face. This woman is the single rudest and most disrespectful postal worker I have ever dealt with. Not only did she give me a bad attitude (I was wearing an infowars shirt) but she over charged me for the mailer. She didn't scan the barcode but instead typed in a code. I told her that I grabbed a 5X9 mailer for $0.59 and not a 5X10 mailer for $1.99. She told me that it was placed in the wrong section , only after I brought the issue up multiple times. I asked to see the mailer, to see whether it was a 5X9 or 5X10 mailer. No matter how many times I asked her, she wouldn't show me the envelope. I walked back to the shelf to double check the price and asked her to see the mailer, yet again, for the fourth time. She refused to show it to me and gave me a terrible attitude. I believe she overcharged me because she didn't like my political t-shirt and the fact that she typed in a code rather than scanning the envelope. But the worst part, even worse than her not showing me the envelope I was paying for, was her unfriendly and distasteful attitude. read more

I have been trying to resolve my issue with my lost package for over one month now. I originally shipped several boxes of books via media mail on July 24, 2018 from the USPS Office in Bloomington, IN to myself in San Diego, CA. I am writing this letter in complaint of my lost package of books that weighed 31 pounds because I received an empty box with "missing contents" written on the top of the box by two different postal workers. The workers also wrote that I should file a claim by going to the post office. I went to the post office at 5505 Stevens Way, San Diego, CA 92114 and was advised to file a claim online. I filed a claim online August 2, 2018 and heard nothing. I received one phone call with no voicemail and Google searched the phone number to find that it was my local post office. I called the post office back and spoke to someone who told me to file a claim online - which I had already done - and the postal worker advised me to wait to hear back from USPS. I decided to take matters into my own hands and e-mailed the supervisor Shawnte Williams, whose named was listed in the auto-reply e-mail. I am assuming that when you file a claim online, it forwards the claim to your local post office according to your zipcode because Shawntee Williams has a local phone number with a San Diego area code. I emailed Shawntee Williams a link with a list of books that the post office lost with receipts and posted all of these items to a viewable Dropbox account and did not receive a reply. I decided to e-mail USPS again this time not denoting the tracking number because the website prohibits you from listing "two" open issues with the same tracking number. Again, I received a mysterious phone call with no voicemail and had to Google search whose phone number called me and it was my local post office again. On Tuesday, August 21, 2018 I went to USPS again to complain about this on-going problem that has not be solved. I had to wait a while to get service before I could speak with the supervisor at USPS Stevens Way and they told me to wait while they asked someone else to speak with me in person whose name is Sam Sayjai. Sam gave me a phone number (858) 674-2670 to call and told me that he called me twice and left me voicemails. Note: I received no voicemails from Sam in the past and I believe he was lying to me. Sam proceeded to tell me that customers looks 4k diamonds and Rolex watches all the time at USPS and I questioned him in doubt by saying, "Is it the customer that really 'lose' the packages or is it USPS that 'loses' the packages?" I tried to hint at the fact that I was skeptical that those expensive things were lost on purpose and that it seems very convenient to claim a loss of an expensive item that was never really "lost" in the first place. After those comments and the on-going problems with USPS, I began to not trust this agency anymore. Sam tried to reassure me today that Consumer Affairs could help me with my issue. I called Consumer Affairs while waiting at Stevens Way USPS and spoke to someone named Emil who told me that he would try to locate my lost books. He also told me to call the Bloomington Post Office, the office that I mailed my books out of, to figure out "what happened to my books." I told Sam and Emil that I am sick and tired of trying to solve this issue. The only reason that I keep trying is because USPS lost $400 worth of books. I began to feel that this was a lost cause and got more irritated because no one at USPS could tell me that this was a lost cause. I continued to tell them in person that IF this is a waste of my time to just TELL ME so that I do not have to waste any more time, hope, and energy in looking for these texts. No one could tell me that and to avoid admitting a mistake in shipping and handling seems to be my biggest problem with USPS. They continued to waste my time and have me jump through hoops for a problem that does not seem solvable on their end because they are unwilling to close out any case. My complaints seemed aligned with the online complaints via Twitter USPS. My last conversation with Emil was the most frustrating because he said that USPS would call me "if they find anything." I clarified with him and asked, "So, if you do not find anything, you will not call me and I will just be stuck here waiting to see if you ever call me?" He answered to say that they would only call if they found anything. It is misleading and thievery that USPS "lost" my media items. Shipping via media mail saves USPS from being financially responsible for my lost items - which I did not know until now. I have been misled by USPS because they reassured me that my package would arrive safely and that I would not need insurance because shipping via media mail provides one with a tracking number. This is one of the most unreliable independent agencies of the U.S. federal government and I am filing this complaint in all avenues possible. read more

This is definitely one of the nicer post offices around. The building is pretty new and clean, and there is a spacious parking lot with boxes to drop off envelopes. I usually go during my lunch hour, so it can get crowded and does have a line at times, but there is usually staff to help. Often, someone will come out to try to help customers to make sure they have everything they need, and to see if there is anything that they can help out with to make the line go faster. Additionally, during lunch, they usually have three desks open to make things go more quickly. Once, I even had someone give me advice on packing supplies, and ways I could use free newspapers to avoid having to spend money on packing material. Do expect to wait a while when going during lunch hour around the holidays, but all in all, this is not bad. read more

I came for a refund after paying for overnight shipping & not receiving my package in time . Should've been delivered on the 13th . (It was very important that it reach my mom in time. She had gone out of town and forgot her ID *Silly Billy* and needed the ID for her flight back to SD thus the predicament) After waiting in line for 30 mins, I was told , very rudely , by KEN that they weren't going to do anything for me and I'd have to come back the next day for my refund . Make it make sense ! When asked what is the difference between refunding me today and refunding tomorrow KEN said that's just how things are . I read the clause/disclaimer through and through and no mention of a 2 day wait for refund. IN FACT the receipt says : MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. Btw it's the 15th and 5pm . Still my mom has not received her letter . I could've just stamped it for standard shipping . UPDATE: I returned next day as instructed by KEN . I walked through the doors to see KEN . Instead we were helped by another WONDERFUL lady named Irela (I believe) she was very kind and tried to help as much as possible. And was fully ready to refund me and my mommy and send us on our way UNTIL she needed supervisor approval from KEN (the supervisor) who ddnt have a supervisor I.D. ( MAKE IT MAKE SENSE) . So they told me I would have to come in the NEXT day (lololololololololol) when a DIFFERENT manager could assist me . So I left that location since they clearly wanted me to be in their face all week ( they have time for that, but I do not ). I got the speedy and EXCEPTIONAL service from the ANDREW JACKSON BRANCH who ddnt understand why they were giving me problems lol . I am a very unhappy tax payer when it comes to my postal service. I own a condo in Golden Hill and this main post office is in charge of my mail delivery. Everyday I get old mail from previous residents, off the top of my head at least 5 previous other residents of my address. I have a spacious mail box, enough to accommodate a large quantity of mail. A few weeks ago I got a letter on my door that was barely readable with chicken scratch writing on it. The note said that my mail box was full and 10 days old. I understand that I didn't check my box in 10 days, but forgive me I was on vacation. So what they did was write an illlegible note and stuck it on my door and took all my mail. Then the day I got the note I went to the post office to inquire. They had no clue and gave me nothing but air. No one knew anything about the note or what was going on. A rep at the PO took my address, name , and cell number. She was going to look into it right away and get back to me. Over a week later, I decided that I should drop in and ask again because I have heard nothing. Good thing I did. They handed me a stack of mail half the size of my box and told me that I should check my mail everyday blah blah blah. If I am at fault too for not checking, that's fine I guess. But I wish there was a way to delete off my incoming mail those news papers that say "current resident" that I just throw right in the trash anyway. That's the bulk of the mail that they with held is junk mail. It's stacks of newspaper and magazines. My issue is with the delayed response from the PO and the note I can't read. I don't think I have ever had a good experience at the PO but this one is just another reason I'd rather go to FEDEX. read more

Love this Post Office. I run a small eCommerce business, which requires me to visit this branch several times a week. The team is kind and extremely patient. Mario is my favorite, he is very quick and efficient. (Not to imply any this less of the rest. They are all great. But everyone has a favorite). I'm especially impressed that they've remained cheerful and pleasant during this pandemic. Think about it, these people interact with the entire community. Having lived abroad, in at least 7 countries and 3 continents, I never take our Postal Service for granted. I don't know if he doesn't work there or didn't know what he was talking about because he delivers our mail. I went in to ship an item and the staff woman who's ethnicity was Hispanic well I think she spoke to me in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish. She was very unhelpful. I told her it was my first time, she said you need tape and a label. If they don't package and create labels for items what on earth do they do? The mail man said I would be helped if I just took my items. I will stay with FedEx even though they are over priced it's worth them doing it and helping you out. This post office sucks! My friend sent me a gift and we tracked it went to this location. However it never got delivered to my house!! But online they marked it as such!! And then when I go down there to get some help finding my package, they are not even pleasant and helpful!! Dolly at the front desk is an absolute pleasure. I needed a package delivered on Friday for my moms birthday on Saturday and the delivery could not be completed. I frantically drove to the post office to see if I could retrieve it and Dolly was able to find the package and left notes for her supervisor and the delivery driver so that I could pick it up early on Saturday. Seriously can't explain the kind of crazy I am dealing with when it comes to the post office. They suddenly were not able to leave packages in our secure mail box "because they didn't have the key". They have been telling us they are going to repair the lock for over a year and a half, but nope, still broken. They actual resolve has been to leave packages curbside, so that homeless, transients and whoever else wants to go shopping at my front porch (two feet from the sidewalk) can take whichever packages suit them. It is incredulous to say the least! Some of the most entitled "workers" I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with.
