Not gonna lie, I have a hate and love relationship with this storage. Let me start on a positive note with the things I actually like about this storage. The location of this storage is great for those who live in downtown and it has a very quick access to the highway, which I think is convenient. The buildings are pretty well air conditioner, and the elevators are spacious. Overall, they keep the buildings pretty clean and staff working there has always been helpful. However, one of the main reasons why they are getting on my nerves is their constant annual price increase. I've been a customer for almost 6 years, and I am now paying almost double the amount from when I started which seems ridiculous. The ongoing increments just feel more like a way to kick you out, than actually keeping you as a customer. Anyhow! Besides the insane prices I currently pay, as of lately I've seen a lot of issues with either the gate not working, the door to access the building not working, no cars to move stuff anywhere to be found. Overall, if you are looking for a storage for just a couple of months I think this place is for you. But if you are looking for a "long term" type of storage, beware of their rates and price increases! read more

I've been with this storage facility for about four months, and my rent has already gone up by $90. After I reached out, they did lower it by $30, but that's still a pretty significant increase in such a short amount of time--and they've refused to work with me any further. Just a heads up to anyone considering renting here: keep a close eye on your monthly bill and be prepared to call when (not if) the price increases. Also, there always seems to be something broken (doors/elevators), carts are rarely available when you need them, and I've even seen a homeless person walk out of one of the buildings, which raised some concerns for me. Second time in 3 years that they doubled my monthly payment without notification. It went from $68 to $134. The say they send you notice but they don't. DO not trust them. I will pull my items and reach out to my credit card company for fraud. The first time I thought I just missed the notice they said they sent but this time I was looking for it and there was no warning. Huge scammers. They double your monthly without notice. Facilities are fine, but my rate doubled after just four months. I was living out of town and there was nothing I could do but pay the increased rate I never agreed to. When I called, they said the rate would continue to increase at least yearly. Absolutely insane way to run a business, and quite frankly it amounts to robbery in my opinion. This company is scandalous! DO NOT! ......I repeat DO NOT Store anything with Extra Space Storage. Do yourself a favor and find a company that will be more professional and honest in the way they do business. This was a nice place long before they put that Green sign up. No points scored for their tidiness. I've had this unit for over 2 years and now pay 50% more for the unit than when it was the previous company. Extra Extortion has had 2 price hikes within the last 6 months. I understand increases but this is High Way Robbery. What is the slang highway robbery? : The practice of charging a price that is very high and usually unfair for something. Especially after there was an initial agreement. I think a class action lawsuit will soon be in the making. Extra Space is more like Extra Extortion. I'm starting to wonder if they have other motives for fleecing people who can no longer afford to store out of their property due to price increases. What's really going on? I've been lied to and treated as an insignificant customer by staff with terrible attitudes as though they are debt collectors. The phone operators are even worse with condescending tones and "Too Bad So Sad" attitudes and non caring demeanor. I've been treated better at the IRS. I will never use this swindling scam of a company ever again and am glad to have paid my last payment for their abuse. I recommend that no one else who cares about their property or being treated like a human being do so either. Either they are too big to care for their customer base or they are greedy. I've seen my fair share of shoddy storage facilities, and can say what supreme confidence this isn't one of them. As one of the newer storage facilities in the area, Extra Storage Space is well maintained, extremely clean, and quite secure. Located just a hair past downtown just area, this place looks a little kooky with the color scheme but is impressive with its thorough security. There is a pin required for access of every door and every floor. While your own lock is required for the storage unit, going around the place still requires a PIN code. Now that's pretty secure. It feels nice in here and the air conditioning is especially awesome during the hot crazy San Antonio summers. There is staff floating around here on occasion and just like anywhere, some are more helpful than others. Prices are not cheap, but I'd rather pay for this than a lot of other places that offer way less. Be on the lookout for internet specials and deals always. read more

Do not rent from Extra storage. They price gouge you. I have only been renting from them since May and they had a price I could afford and it's close by. Now they have hiked up the payment by $80 more a month. This is unacceptable as this is a huge rise in price. I could understand if it was $10-$20 in increase over time. But right off the bat they gouged me. The unit isn't really climate controlled and when I lived in the ceiling was caving in. I went into my storage unit a month ago and it was smoldering hot and I was sweating. I will be moving out of here when my month paid is done and will highly not recommend this place to everyone and will be going on multiple social medias to share my experience to stay away from this price gouging company. read more

I NEVER write reviews...NEVER but PLEASE trust this review. The storage unit door was replaced. The company they hired DESTROYED some of my stuff; they literally threw it back in there like trash! DONT RENT FROM EXTRA SPACE. It took the manager 3 1/2 weeks to return my calls. I called repeatedly for a week straight. Then she says there is NOTHING they can do other than offer me $25 off my next month's rent. She said we can't touch your stuff then I say but you can hire a third party to touch and destroy my stuff and that's okay. She follows up with saying I will need to contact the third party installer and work the situation out with them. Extra Space hired the contractor but I have to work with them to get something resolved but hey they're willing to give me a $25 credit. Did I forget to mention, my unit was broken into two months after I rented it? PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH AND DO NOT RENT FROM ANY EXTRA SPACE. read more

Been at this location for at least 3 years. They continue to increase the rate. Staff doesn't have a clue why payments go thru sometimes and not other times. I've had my unit get 2 roaches because of people living in the units and bringing in dirty infested items. I've also been accused of bringing in roaches even though I'm at my unit monthly and clean out my totes and bags. Some lady that lives there told me not to use her elevator bc apparently people live there and staff says nothing. I'm over this place and their pricing is ridiculous. I called to ask about my bill, and the girl told me she's on lunch and they'll call me back. Then why answer the phone? I will never do business with this company again! Yes, it's a nice facility; very clean, easy to access, and climate-controlled. However, I've only had a storage unit here for three months and I just got a notice in the mail stating that my "promotional rate" has ended and that my monthly price will be increasing. This is absolutely ridiculous! While I understand prices will increase from time to time I don't expect them to increase within three months and especially not increase by DOUBLE, yes, DOUBLE the price of what I was paying. When I asked Customer Service where in my contract it states that I am on a promotional rate they could not find that. Instead reply with, "Well, they sent you a notice in advance." This place is a straight rip off!!! In the beginning you pay a low move-in but each month the payment of the storage shelter increases drastically. How do I go to monthly fee of more than $200 per month for a small storage space? When I called I was informed the fee changes month to month base off market rates...Straight BS for an answer. And then when I decide to cancel prior to the end of the month, the clerk tells me that we can lower your move out cost to $190 with me moving out with 10 days left. The storage unit is clean and easy to access. However, your rate is only locked in for a few month and will increase as they so choose. My rate went up $32 because that was the going rate for the unused units. Other companies will just charge you for a year or 6 month contract at the same rate. If you want to pay double after a few months, then this is your place. The only notice they gave me was a little brochure that I never received because I check my mail everyday. If you use this storage, be ready to pay double within few months. By far this has been the most secure, clean, and convenient storage facility our family has used. I would recommend this location to any military families PCS'ing to San Antonio. The two individuals working today (Leon & Ida) were extremely helpful. They walked us through accessing our unit, and helped our movers gain access as well. Tyler and Ida were very helpful, they gave me a tour of what to look for and what size of storage I would need and want, they explained to me all the hour times and storage times while walking me to my storage. The facility is really cleaned and awesome and on top of that the storages are perfect room temperature so nothing can be thermally damaged like my electronics.
