Worst experience ever. Arrived at 1:15, the office was locked no one in the office. Paper clock on door says be back at 3:10. Called the phone number and sales rep convinced me i could do it over the phone. Once contract was signed, i would get a unit number, entry code and there would be a lock in the unit. Get to the unit and its open, dirty and no keys. Call customer service as an existing customer and placed on hold for 20 min. I call back as a new customer and get someone right away. Explain my problem. They give us the direct number to the manager who after calling and calling answered the phone. Raina says, well im sorry but i will have to get back to you. I have to go to lunch and i just answered the phone so it would stop ringing. Raina should be fired. read more

Don't store your stuff there. They will raise your monthly fees and tell you it's in the contract. Which we were never aware. And their explanation is that their storage fee goes up when the market price of the house goes up. What kind of bs is that? I rented storage units before and never have I hear of these scams. read more

I have to disclaim this review with saying how incredible the staff is. They're always helpful, always smiling! BUT their rodent problem is out of control. SPOILER ALERT: most insurance policies classify rodent damage as exempt. None of this was covered under my renters insurance (USAA) nor the Extra Space Storage insurance that I purchased as a backup. After this summer's wildfires I visited my unit to grab winter clothes and found it covered in almost an inch of ash. There's a 1 ft gap in between the units and the roof, therefore if a unit was left open for an extended period of time during the fires, then all of the units in the building were damaged. As soon as I got past the ash, I noticed the rodent droppings all over my unit (I'm an OCD neat freak and have rented storage units before so i know the drill, there were zero food items, zero scented items, nothing). That 1ft gap connecting the units also allows bugs, mice, rats, etc. to run from unit to unit like it's a free for all. Once I started pulling apart the unit, I realized the extent of the damage: - the rodents had eaten through all of my vacuum sealed bags with my towels, curtains, and clothing inside and left urine and droppings inside or pulled out the items to use for a nest. - they ate through my wicker and hyacinth baskets, dining room chair legs and cloth seats, and urinated on luggage, which got into the stored clothing inside. - our Samsung washer doesn't seal tightly around the lid on the top, therefore the inside is covered in ash and the rodents figured out the light lid and made a waste receptacle of it. - other destroyed items include: unscented candles, box frame mattress, and almost $7k worth of items. If you're going to rent, maybe try one of the indoor, small units, it looked as though they were all individually encased, but inspect the heck out of it before you sign. Or you'll be $7k out, like me, right before you make a move across the country. read more

Pro: The unit was a good size, stayed dry and no evidence of rats. Con: They consistently raised the price of the unit. Moved out before the end of the month and they are charging us for another month. supposedly we were supposed to let them know by the 10th which was never told to us, nor was it on any of the paperwork we received. When I called the office to try to get the charge reversed the woman who answered was absolutely giddy to inform me that I was getting charged for that extra month. I have learned that the extra in their name really stands for all that extra money they are going to be sucking out of the customers. read more

This review is a bit late, and I'll try to keep it short, but I feel it's necessary. My storage unit was burglarized sometime between August 2021 and January 2022. The unit next to mine was empty and left unlocked by the storage facility, and the thieves went in and broke the metal wall between the open unit and mine, and stole various belongings. Apparently they burglarized other units because the police were there taking blood samples when I arrived (I guess the thieves cut themselves while stealing). I had to file a police report and insurance claim for my stolen items. I was reimbursed for about 45% of what was lost, the insurance company refused to reimburse me for certain things, as well as factored in depreciation, among other things. I still don't know who the thieves were, but it is my personal belief that this was an inside job. My unit was in the middle of the facility, inside and not on the end. Also, how would the thieves know that the unit next to mine was unlocked without either checking every unit before mine (which they couldn't have had enough time for), or knowing it was open already. After the incident, I requested the unit next to mine be kept locked or that I be able to move my belongings to a new unit where both units next to it would be kept locked, and that was refused. So I moved my belongings to a new facility. The insurance reimbursement helped, but only 45%. I received no assistance from the facility and had to relocate my belongings at my own expense. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB regarding this. read more

After getting quotes from Public Storage (next door) we decided to give this one a try and perhaps get a better price and glad we did. The gentle man that was there by the name Sean was very polite and professional. He gave us a "tour" of the storage property in his cart while giving us information on security and safety of property. Prices are great and staff is professional. The people working there is great but I'm Not happy at all with their policies. I came in before the 10th of the month and told them I needed a prorated amount as I'm moving everything out on the 14th. I gave them a 30 day notice on the 15th of Feb. so it would be covered. They wanted a full month payment even though my stuff would be out in the 14th. One of the ladies who was working with me said she would talk to her boss took my number and I didn't hear a thing. So now when I come in to see if I could pay up to the 15th I was not only told no it had to be a month rent then they tacked on a late fee as well. If you want anything prorated it has to be between the 1st & the 10th. Wouldn't it be sweet if life worked that way! read more

I've rented from this facility for several years but for the past few months the service has definitely dropped. Went into the office in July to make my payment and the customer service rep refused to accept my payment which was cash because the office was scheduled to close in 9 min. I was told that they don't accept cash prior to closing but that information isn't in any of my disclosures. Not sure why that's my issue. Reported the situation to the manager the next day, but he seemed to care less. Went in today (last day to pay was yesterday) and I received a $42.30 late payment fee and the manager refused to remove it even though I'm a long time customer and this was an error on my part. I usually pay before the late payment hits but had a family emergency. Their customer service stinks. I need to find another unit but I just have so much stuff (my current unit is a 10x30) so moving will take some planning on my part. read more

The Pros: Extra Space IS a clean, gated and secure facility. I chose it because of the proximity to my home; being a convenience. It is well maintained and shines well from this. Front desk person, Carol was easy and pleasant to work with. The Cons: While the website advertises first month free, be sure to read the fine print. Free came at a cost of $30, and insurance from what I was told, IS mandatory. Overall, knowing what I know now - I would probably use them again if I needed. read more

I would have given this facility 4 stars if it weren't for the fact that they up charge at the counter when you are signing your contract. It is only then that they notify you of the mandatory insurance you must purchase (if you don't have another form of coverage like renters insurance) to store with them. Really? I can live with it. Bridgett is wonderful and made my process very easy and enjoyable. And, I got a killer deal so with the insurance charge I am still paying less than what I originally planned on paying. I just think it's fair to be up front with fees and "mandatory charges". I just moved in today but so far, Overall, I would recommend this facility if you don't mind paying for insurance to store your belongings. read more
