There's some things about this location itself that are mid but they had what I needed at the time I needed it, so I made do. The stars are for the two employees that stood out and made my experience amazing. Shot out to Quincy and Joe! Quincy checked me in and was super sweet and personable. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed and was set. The van itself was fine. It jerked at bit when it idled, wasn't the smoothest ride but I got everything moved to my new facility in one swoop! It was good on gas but I didn't go very far, just had limited time and wanted to knock it out in one trip. Legit spent $6 on gas which would've been wayyyy more in my guzzling truck lol. Joe checked me in and was super kind and human. Traffic is awful at this location certain times of day. I know this area too well and had forgotten. Know that going in, and they don't have parking at the location. Places like this you just expect to do what you gotta do, but standout stars like Quincy and Joe make it pleasant and the experience memorable. read more

Propane filing denied for ridiculous reasons. Let me know if I'm wrong. The person said the tank had areas that looked "worn". Sure where the propane tank cover has run. Certainly not thinning the steel tank just rubbed the paint. Her response was "regulations say it can't be filled". What regulation?? The person giving the certification class said not to fill if tank appears damaged because "if you get in an accident and the tank explodes l'll get sued ". I am in shock at how much this company ripped us off! We were quoted a very decent price. We rented a small truck which came with no ramp, no hand truck & no padding. When my son returned the truck he was charged $277!!! $200 more then quoted. Buyer beware- unless you want to take a chance and get ripped off, stay away from this business. My adult child (age 23) rented a vehicle here for only a few hours on November 4, 2025. The transaction was $88 and the payment went through successfully to their bank. There was no damage to the vehicle. Today , November 14, they were notified by text message that a transaction was attempted at this same U-Haul location twice! First time was at 2:53 pm for $115, the 2nd time for $88 at 5:43 pm. They only had a small amount of money in that account so both transactions were denied. They immediately called their bank's 24 hour fraud hotline to let them know these charges today were not authorized. The original legitimate charges on November 4th did clear the bank. This is obviously an employee at this location attempting fraud 10 days later! Very shady business. A police report was just filed at 7:58 pm with Sacramento City Police Department. I have never experienced such a disreputable company'! Beware, using this site; the small truck we reserved was shown to us in the dark parking lot on the side of the lot. We drove it up and directly to our cabin. We were greeted by the representative who points out a small dent and in the back of the truck!!! This dent was noticed in a June return but because we didn't disclaim it they charged us. Take pictures of your truck before signing anything and getting keys. Book a truck online to pick up a truck for Sac State move-in. I called another location closer to our storage to do a one-way rental and never got a callback. When I booked the truck, I had the option of virtual check-out or in-person. I choose in-person, but when I got there they switched it to virtual and I waited in line for 30+ minutes for nothing. The truck was clean and was able to do what we needed it to do. Virtual check-in was easy, they emailed me a receipt and I was on my way. read more

I made a reservation for earlier today at the U-Haul at 2738 65th St, Sacramento, CA 95817. When I went in to pick up the van I had reserved, the young man at the counter (who for some reason was wearing mirror sunglasses as he sat indoors behind the counter) told me that I could not use my debit card (which also function as a visa card) to rent the vehicle, and that I could only use a major credit card. The U-Haul website that I used to make my reservation clearly states that you need either a credit card OR a debit card for a rental. Apparently this U-Haul location makes its own policy. I was upset, but I did not argue. I picked up my bank card and license and said "bye," and walked out. I did say it somewhat loudly, but I did not yell and that was the only word that came out of my mouth. But I guess that was enough for the U-Haul employees to decide that I'm a "Karen," because I heard someone else behind the counter say "take her out of the system. She's not allowed to rent here." Went in for boxes and was not provided with the best customer service. The surrounding grounds and parking lot was disgusting and there is homeless people sleeping on the property. This review has two sections one will be my experience for this location. The other will give u-haul nubbies a heads up. This is my opinion based on a lot of experience with u-haul. Section one... Everyone I have dealt with at this location knows how to do thier job. They really try to make it as painless as possible! I like this location and I use them often. It's not the most bubbly customer service, but it is always friendly. U-haul the company, makes thier job much harder. This location is tiny! You can fill up a tank of propane for less than half the price of swapping one! Pro tip...the only way to get here is heading south on 65th st. (For example from 50 or Folsom Blvd) also, take the second entrence to pull in. Also also. If you are planning on leaving your car to grab a truck for a few hours. Park at target, cause thier lot is tiny! Section two... It takes about $15 per 1/8th of a tank to refill it. (10' and up) Also, you pay for miles. Also, you pay for insurance. Also, you pay for cleaning. (If you don't clean it) Don't expect to go rent a $19.95 truck...for $19.95! Thats why I say that u-haul makes the guys at the stores jobs hard...I have seen people freaking out that it's going to be 100 bucks to rent a $20 truck. Also, the app that the company, really tries to make the customer use, is kinda junk..imo..I always try to deal with the Reps as much as possible. You need a DL, you need 2 phone numbers that they can verify, you almost, if not, have to, have a cell phone. Just a heads up! I like this location! Quincy made our experience go from 0 to 5 stars with U HAUL. We had a bad experience with the U HAUL on Mills Station Rd. We accidentally had put the U HAUL lock on backwards we weren't given any instruction from Mills station when we called for help the only help they offered was to charge us $150 & send a tow truck to cut the lock. We called the 65th location & she shared that she wasn't sure about how to fix the lock but if we could bring the U HAUL she would try to help us. We brought it to the 65th location & she spent 20 mins helping us open the lock backwards. This was an above and beyond experience for us. Although I didn't end up renting from this U-Haul, when I called to ask about renting a trailer to hitch to a SUV, they were very helpful in explaining how it all works and what's required, etc. We decided to not go that route, but the person who answered was very polite, helpful, didn't sound annoyed and though he had to put me on hold for another call while we were talking, he was courteous about it. Overall, I've read that this location has really good staff and ample trucks for your moving rental needs. Was there at open to pick up a reserved truck, all the computers of their reservation system went down. The workers at the desk were nice, so they get my one star, but they didn't know how to handle it and spent most of the time I was in there with the manager on speakerphone. After an hour they broke the news that no one would get a truck today. I said I understood and asked to get a credit since I had a reservation which stated that if they didn't they didn't have a truck for me I would be credited $50. The manager, I think his name was Robert, refused because "technically it's not our fault." He was being super aggressive about it I don't think he knew he was on speaker. He said that if he gave me a credit he'd have to give everyone else there one too, which seems like yes exactly what should happen. Having had a recent horrible experience with the owner at the Downtown/Broadway U-Haul, it was a breath of fresh air to have friendly service people at this location. I rented a 10' truck to return a plethora of Halloween decorations back to a storage unit and made my reservation the day before pick-up. When I arrived, the check-out process was easy, the truck was clean, and CJ didn't ask me for a 2nd phone number (since I don't have anything other than one cell phone) like the owner of the Downtown location did. The return was also fast and I experienced no problems. With all the different U-Haul locations to choose from, this location is at the top of my list. read more

This location is really bad, an hour check in and return are horrible. No extra parking for the person to drop you off or pick you up. Every time I've used this place it's an hour to pickup and an hour to return, that's two hours out of your moving day. This time the u-hauls were backed up onto 65 street waiting to return their truck, an accident waiting to happen. These guys are the best! I was towing a tru k with a separate U-Haul car hauler when the tire blew. Luis the manager totally hooked us up while we waited for road side assistance and even though this rental wasn't theirs. This company charged me for more miles than I had driven. To be fair they could have atleast tried to find the accurate mileage from the last trip from the truck I rented. The truck reeked of cigarette smoke. There was a maintenance light on for low air tire pressure and I had to return because the dolly I paid for was not in the truck like they said. When I got in the truck I noticed the gas did not match what the diagram said there should be so I took a picture of gas gauge before driving anywhere. I replaced gas back to level it was when I picked it up and they still charged me for gas replacement. When I contacted them and provided my proof they responded with the original incorrect gas diagram and are refusing to refund me. If you can at all avoid it- DO NOT USE UHAUL!!!! I have used them many times over the years because it's what's offered in my area and EVERY time there is an issue! The reason I didn't go back inside and argue the gas level before leaving property is I had already waited in line for 25 mins (after doing express online check in) because several people were having issues with their reservations and being told their appts were not that day when they had documentation of it being scheduled that day. 25 mins of hearing customers complain was enough! DO NOT RENT from this location. These guys are crooks. We returned a pick up truck rental, the employee who received the vehicle did a walk around, no problem, signed the receipt, we left. U Haul took possession of the vehicle then called us about 15 min later saying they were charging us a 900$ " cleaning fee", keep In mind we have rented many U Haul trucks in the past, from different locations, and anytime it was returned dirty they have charged us a 25$ cleaning fee. When we dropped the vehicle off, we knew it was dirty, we re confirmed the 25$ cleaning fee with the employee, did a walk around for any damage inside or out, the employee cleared the vehicle and we left. About 15min later another employee called, rather aggressively, stating that the truck was "ruined", " destroyed", and "no longer rentable". I do agree that the inside of the truck was pretty dusty, that's why we re confirmed the cleaning fee with the drop off employee before we left. When we returned the vehicle if we would have been notified of the exorbitant cleaning fee at that time, we could have easily left , wiped it down real quick and been back, as we still had time left on our rental reservation. We will definitely be disputing this charge in court. My advice is steer clear of this location. We have rented and returned many trucks from other U Haul locations and have never had this problem.. If your in the area the Florin or Broadway locations are professional and up front and honest with there fees. Feel like these guys are trying to get you for a dollar, and we all know those dollars are getting harder to earn thdlse days, lesson learned! read more

i experienced problems picking up the truck that I had reserved as I was told that it was unavailable due to the sytem being down (despite the truck clearly being on premises). With great inconvenience, a different smaller truck was rented. Upon returning the truck on time, the attendant said that they could not finalize my bill without a manager who was not available. No manager contacted me back as I was told. I called Uhaul corporate two times over the following two week period each time being told that a manager would call me back to resolve. Still to this date, no manager has ever contacted me back and I was overcharged for the rental. As a consumer, I find it sad that this business cannot respond to the reasonable concerns of a paying customer. read more

I picked up a 9' cargo van on a Tuesday at 6:20pm, which I had reserved online the night before for a 6pm pick-up. The staff member, Gregorio, provided excellent, hassle-free customer service. I am writing this random review for one simple reason: I want to spread the word about the recycling program this U-Haul does. My boyfriend is moving and we really needed to find some boxes for him. I am a huge advocate of the three R's... Reduce (the things I consume and the things I throw away) Reuse (my own things and the things of others-within reasonably sanitary limits) and Recycle (anything and everything that can be). I scoured craigslist for moving boxes that people were giving away (or selling). Moving boxes can be used like 2-5 times so why buy brand new ones every time? It's really just lazy. We went into this U-Haul to take a look at options for renting trucks, buying tape, ect. I asked the guy about boxes and he walked me to their boxes recycling center. Here, customers can pickup and drop off used boxes to share with others. It's free! You don't have to buy anything from the U-Haul store! Please keep this program going by dropping off used boxes and using these boxes instead of buying new. Everything we do to help reduce our waste really helps our environment :D read more

This might be a strange Yelp! review for me, but I went to them to install a tow hitch a while back and they were prompt, thorough and really reasonable on the price. I even went back a few months later to have them install the electrical connector for a trailer when I purchased one, and CJ was extremely professional, helpful, kind, and made sure to have another employee around to make sure he would be able to complete the job without delay. I also used to go here to refill the propane on our RV and they were always helpful even though the RV was super long and we got in the way. They never made us feel awkward about it. While I've had "sketchy" U-Haul experiences in the FAR distant pass, I was VERY pleasantly surprised at the SUPERIOR service (and everything else) I got from Carl & Freddie here - did most of my follow-up business (hitch installation & subsequent trailer rental [6x12 inclosed]) with Carl. He is terrific & efficient in every way - and very pleasant and relaxed at the same time. A few "glitches" (mine!) were handled effectively, and I couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience - including the incredible performance of the quite large trailer. It tracked and braked amazingly well - particularly noteworthy when traveling our CA right lanes, some of which were shockingly BAD! Dropped the trailer off in Santa Cruz - and will be repeating multiple trips... You cannot go wrong here when dealing with Carl!!! read more

3 stars stands for A-OK on Yelp, and that is what this store got. I ordered a 17ft truck for a one way run. They confirmed. Got a phone call back a couple days later saying they wouldn't have the 17, so I got upgraded to a 20. Staff was friendly, but they had some issues when I came to pick up the truck. Computer system kept spitting out the wrong price and we had to go through the entire transaction 3 times before it was right which cost me 15 minutes. She offered a smaller one at the same location or to drive 30 miles for it when you are charged by the mile. I needed propane so went to UHAUL when driving in the representative was walking across and sees me drive in and keeps walking to the store. So I follow the directions on the sign and ring bell for service at the pump and nothing. After 5 min ring again then woman pulls in and goes in store. So I wait and finally go into store and see he is ringing her up. I wait and after transaction tell him I need propane and he says it will be 40 minutes wait.
