Avoid at all costs if possible. Unprofessional doesn't even begin to cover it. Wow. Where do I even start? This company is the masterclass in incompetence and bad customer service. I called to ask if they service my apartment complex. The first rep immediately said "we do not" -- wrong. My daughter had to leave her unit to check the sign because apparently, facts are optional here. When I called back to correct them, my complaint was dismissed, and the rep hung up on me. Emotional. Assumptive. Completely unprofessional. Call number two: slightly better on manners, but still a nightmare. I gave the license plate of the car parked illegally in my spot and the complex info. The answer? "A driver will come in 60 minutes," and the call ended. Then they called and asked me to text them my driver's license and lease. I complied. Then I was told a supervisor would call. And oh boy, the supervisor. More emotional than the first rep, talking over me, refusing accountability, and accusing me of being "rude" -- for pointing out that their system is a mess. Then, after ALL of that, he tells me they can't help me because only the property manager can authorize a tow. REALLY?! That should have been the first thing you said, not after wasting my time and collecting my personal info. Also, fun fact: they appear to illegally record calls as there is no prompt, beeping sound, or information that the calls are recorded other than knowing because I asked if they were. Bottom line: disorganized, unprofessional, incompetent, and likely to waste your time while acting offended that you asked for basic service. I would love to avoid this company because I do not enjoy frustration, incompetence, and emotional customer service reps deflecting and scapegoating with me. However I am most definitely going to put in an ADA request to ensure that I can personally have cars removed rather than rely on the property manager alone. In fact, I am going to look into this more because I could have sworn I already had one. If this is the case and/or if they continue to provide inadequate service, I'm hoping the complex signs a contract with another company who's more capable of operating their business better. A little over 2 years ago, my daughter and her boyfriend were robbed. During this robbery, her boyfriend was shot and killed while driving her car. Sac Sheriff had the car towed here after they were done with it. Unfortunately this tow yard wanted $500 / or pick it up / or they would report it to the credit bureau. The car was totaled and the sheriffs office wouldn't give us any information on the shooters car insurance - so we could go after them. I explained the situation to the person working the desk that day but they wouldn't budge and wanted their money. Ended up having to pay so it wouldn't affect my daughter. They illegally towed my car from a store parking lot. They charged me almost 500$ to get my truck out, which they towed it at 6am and I picked up around 2pm same day. I will be filling a complaint with other California department of consumer affairs, as I am sure I am not the only person they have done this to. Vehicle accident sacramento, police called to have it towed Driver gave lift back to house, which was good but left phone with all my insurance info, right after dropping me off called office & let them know I needed to get phone from drivers truck & I can meet him at whatever location, (dispatcher trys to extort me) tells me that I would have to pay $120.00 dollars to get it back, told her I wasn't paying to get my phone back & to give him my number which she did, ended up driving to a location to retrieve phone. Acouple days later called to get price of tow & storage was told it would be $ 475. let em know I would be there to pick it up, hour later go in to office & start to pay & noticed they tacked on an extra $92. Dollars, like I wouldn't notice what he (main bozo thief) did, told them I was quoted $475. Then the main thief comes to counter & says he put a lein on the vehicle for three days of storage (which it wasn't a full three days yet,) which caused the extra fees. Came here to pick up my Jaguar that had gotten into a collision and met tow truck driver HERRY, let me tell you Herry is the muthafuckin man! He knows all the in's and out's of what an how to load my car onto the AAA tow truck that was there to pick it up, since it was pretty jacked up from the accident an he was the one who initially towed it to the yard.He was on top of every issue that came about during the difficulty of getting it started, doors unlocked etc.Asked him how long he been towing cars an he told me since he was 16. Told him hes the man around here an they're lucky to have someone as knowledgeable like him on their team. One of the drivers lives across the street from me and parks his flat bed tow truck on our street daily. Our neighborhood is all street parking. Tonight, the Central Valley Towing driver who lives across the street parked me in (used his truck to block my driveway so my pregnant wife's car couldn't get out) I had no clue which unit he lived in and it was 10 p.m., too late to knock on doors, called the number on the truck, the operator told me they couldn't figure out who the driver was, so I had to call the Police Department. Quickly after calling the PD I get a knock on the door, it's the driver up in arms telling me I purposely used my truck to keep him from parking where he would normally park (it's a public street, my spot was filled, so I parked across the street in the only spot available at the time) I tried to explain this, but instead of listening he jumps in my face nose to nose threatening me. His last remark was that he was a tow truck driver and we'd see where my truck ended up. Needless to say, this absolutely unacceptable behavior for an employee of a company and I would high suggest not doing business with Central Valley towing. read more

So my mom was in an accident in sacramento on sat and I just asked Sac PD to call who their towing service was to pick my moms car up so it could be towed to Lodi. The guy that came to pick up the car was really nice so this review is not for him. I'm not sure what the going rate is but the tow seemed a bit excessive. They charged $180 per hour and the total was $360 for a tow to Lodi. That seems quite a bit excessive to me but I guess that is the going rate. Since I worked in the insurance industry I knew that the insurance company would pay for the tow to Lodi so I wasn't too worried about that part. I'm sure the tow truck driver is just told what to do from his management. He wanted to tow it to one of their yards. I advised I wasn't gonna have the car sit in their tow yard and have it accrue daily storage fees when I could have it dropped off at the autobody shop we wanted it and not accrue any fees. He said the insurance company could come out and look at the car at their yard blah blah. I've heard this many times from tow yards when working in the insurance industry. It basically ends up being around 5 days by the time the car is picked up and moved to the shop of our choice. A way for tow yards to make extra money. Most people would just go along with it and wouldn't know any better. 4 stars for the service I received from the guy that picked up my moms car and drove her all the way to Lodi. 2 stars as from my perspective it seems most tow companies do this thing of trying to store peoples vehicles at their facility to accrue additional income. I worked in the insurance claims industry it happens all the time. All in all it just slows the entire process of getting your car repaired if it gets stored at the tow yard. FYI to anyone who gets in a car wreck have it towed to your bodyshop. Even if they aren't open you can leave the car on their premises and avoid storage fees. read more

Similar to another review, they towed a vehicle of mine and stole ANYTHING and EVERYTHING of value including literally taking the vehicle key of TBs key chain. Total value of stolen good was approximately $2k. They claimed no wrong doing but I know someone who use to work there. Long story short, on video rummaging through my vehicle. Contacting the owner was a waste of time. No response. Tried to file a police report and CHP basically said: that's what they do and taking it to court is going to be a waste of time. A couple days ago a Mini Cooper nearly hit me, startling me and forcing me in my effort to avoid a crash to slam into a curb so hard it pushed my front right tire inward and broke it. After following the recommendation of my insurance who would not cover this (different review) I knew I had to pay out of pocket and they recommended a few companies, among them Central Valley Towing. I found that for the distance traveled they quote an EXCELLENT rate. I compared with the other tow companies suggested, but as far as polite dispatch, reasonable quote for the travel distance and a 30 minute turnaround (after dispatch checked with the driver before quoting to me to make sure the time was accurate) I went with them. So glad I did! Even with rush hour traffic the driver, Derek, arrived in 33 min, impressive because he was initially given the wrong location to reach me (Thanks Google Maps!). He was fast, efficient, very polite and very knowledgeable. By the time we arrived at our destination to deliver my poor car, I was in better spirits and appreciative that I had been quoted a reasonable rate and had professional, personable and fast service. WOW! I was driving a 2013 luxury vehicle that caught fire. I called the brands Roadside assistance number. After waiting on hold for about 15 minutes, they told me that they called three different "preferred companies". The nearest tow truck was 85 minutes out. I called them first of course because they cover the tow under my warranty. Free stuff is awesome. Since time is money, I hung up and dialed Central Valley because I have been helped by them in the past. The dispatcher (Tamika) was very nice, and had great empathy for what I was going through. I waited just ten minutes after we hung up and my savior arrived. Derrick showed up and had my car on the truck within ten minutes. He was very courteous and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about him. I will refer ALL of my family and friends to Central Valley, and bypass the FREE Roadside Assistance that my brand provides. I used Central Valley Towing today to take my Corvette to the Dealer for repair. I told the dispatcher that I had a steering wheel that had locked up and it was in the garage and the wheels were pointing at an angle. They not only sent a tow truck, they sent two of them. One truck was a regular tow truck and used to get it out of the garage, which was very difficult because of the angle and the guys took very good care of my car. After it was out they loaded it on the flat bed tow truck, very carefully and I followed them to the Dealership. The guys were very professional and took their time during the whole process because they knew this was " my baby" and I can't thank them enough..... Through no fault of my own, a vehicle that I own was towed to Sacramento. Throughout the whole ordeal, Dale and the tow truck driver (possibly named Mike) and another employee were incredibly helpful and nice. Not once did they make me feel bad for the vehicle having been towed (they knew I had nothing to do with it), and they answered every question I had about the truck and the impound process. When I picked it up, the battery was dead, and it was out of gas. They charged the battery and loaned me a gas can. I have been an ongoing patron of Sutherlands for over 10 years & have invested in several projects. This year, I moved into the apartment complex adjacent to Sutherlands. I have enjoyed the services of Sutherlands, but have recently become very unsatisfied with their towing partnership service Central Valley Towing. My friend parked in an area that Sutherlands considers their Employee Parking Lot. To be clear, there are signs clearly posted stating that cars will be towed at owner's expense and my friend was at fault by law. What is not stated on the signs is any information for the towing company or how to contact them. It happened in afterhours and my friend and I had to call the police to determine the location of the tow company. From the moment that we contacted the Central Valley Towing, communication despite our best efforts was a downward spiral. These were some of the controlling techniques used by the towing company * Person gave us the location to pick up the car, in a very rude tone. * He gave us a total for retrieved the card (did not mention prices regarding cash vs. credit card) * Did not give a time quote for retrieving the car (nor did we know we needed one) * Upon arrival at the location we called and the girlfriend of the person we talked to rudely said that her boyfriend had given us a time quote for when they would be there for us to pick up the car. * We waited patiently for a half hour for the two people to arrive and let us in. * We had to invite ourselves into the trailer to discuss the car (they drove past us, knowing that we were there to get the car, didn't say anything to us as they walked by us to go into the trailer * We walked into the trailer and said "we are here to pick up the car (along with our information)" This was met with a tone of verbal hostility as they asked if we were paying with credit card or cash. When we said that we were paying with credit card, they then informed us, "Oh, well if you are paying with card, then there is a 3% interest charge. We had no choice but to agree to the fee. This surcharge felt very abusive. They could have told us this on the initial conversation and we would have brought cash. * I mentioned that myself and friends and many other people had parked in that lot before. The boyfriend was itching with excitement as he said, "I know! I've towed 16 cars just this week!" He was so proud of it. * The girlfriend interjected with her excitement with other qualifying comments. Meanwhile her hands were shaking with that jitter of "I'm looking for a fight." My friend and I just brushed off their provocations to make a scene. We knew that they had all the power and could get away with whatever they wanted. This is the kind of event that sits with you for days & weeks. This was four days before Christmas & left a very bad manipulative taste of events. And while most of this was on the towing company & their terrible manors and forced control and lack of communication skills, I can't help but have distaste for Sutherlands playing a part in the partnership and lack of informative marking. I will not be sharing my patronage again with them anytime soon. read more

NO ONE else "felt like doing a service," even if they had a truck available and advertised service here. This company was the most expensive quote I got by 25%, but they got there within 45 minutes (everyone else who said they would give me service wasn't for 3-5 hours!) My 22-year old son was in his first car accident about a week and a half ago. The accident included four (4) automobiles. Although not physically hurt, my son was very much in shock, extremely upset over the potential condition of the other drivers and the damage done to his 1990 car that he had kept in pristine showroom condition. We have AAA Road Service and our family is very used to calling them for tows and other auto-related needs. However, CENTRAL VALLEY TOWING just showed up and started loading up his car. He had no idea who they were, who called them, nor where they were taking his car. The next thing heard about it was a couple of days later when our State Farm insurance person said they making arrangements that day to have the car towed to their lot for insurance inspection. Yesterday, ten (10) days after the accident and about seven (7) days since our insurance company took possession of the car, we received a NOTICE OF PENDING LIEN SALE FOR VEHICLE VALUED $4000 OR LESS, as well as a document entitled NOTICE OF STORED VEHICLE / AMMENSTY OFFER. This is the FIRST notification or invoicing of any kind from this unethical towing company, so it wasn't like they invoiced us and we refused to pay, ignored them or anything. There was NOTHING before this at all! The first notice stated that they intend to SELL my son's vehicle by already putting a lien on it and selling it to pay their towing and storage bill. They also assert that they stored the car for ten (10) days, which they did not. Yesterday would have been ten (10) days and they haven't had it for a week or more as it is. It's a lot of legal and scam jargon, but the upshot is that it seems they want to be paid anywhere from $874 (Including the $70 they spent to file the Lien in the first place!) to around $3500! We of course, have sent these documents to our insurance company and I'm sure they will resolve this in some fashion, and are used to these scam artist, so I'm not as worried as when we initially received. However, my concern is not so much about us personally, but how this would devastate others on a fixed income, little-to-no auto insurance coverage, or just any other people 'taken to the cleaners' by this unscrupulous scam artist towing company. It's almost like these guys listen to the police scanners for accidents, swoop in like vultures, act as if they're are 'supposed' to be the company towing the cars, while everyone is in shock, not thinking clearly, or on their way to the hospital without the ability to make decisions about who is towing their car and where it's going. Then the towing company, like CENTRAL VALLEY TOWING holds their car for financial ransom for outrageous towing fees ($304), inflated storage days ($450 for nine (9) days and counting (according to them) at $50/day (when they didn't even have it stored for 9 days) and now a proposed "Sale Date" to sell my son's car on 9/30 at 9am to recover their bogus fees!) Between the scam artists drivers operating now who slam on their brakes for no reason at all to be purposefully rear-ended for insurance pay outs, to these vulture-like towing companies and their scams, one can expect a lot more problems with a car accident these days than ever before. I'm confident that Central Valley Towing is not the only unethical towing company operating in Sacramento with the same scam for automobile owners, so this is just a cautionary tale. If you have an auto accident and are 'okay' enough when it comes to the towing process, tell them you wish to call your own service (In our case, we have AAA Road Service) and don't blindly let someone like Central Valley Towing just take your car!
