I have had my storage unit for 2 months now. Here is my experience: Pros: - Clean: (I mean extremely clean) I don't know why the guy below said there were rat droppings but it seems from writing yelp reviews that he has other issues. The grounds have ALWAYS been clean whenever I stop by, which is about 1/week. - Professional: Melissa, the woman who works there is always above reproach. She speaks well and does not come off as rude or untrusting. - Courteous: Every time I talk to anyone in the office they smile, are not rude or condescending, ask how my day is going, etc. They make a great effort to provide great service. Let's remember, nobody is perfect. However, I don't have any complaints and if I did, I wouldn't try to ruin their entire life like Branden A. C'mon, now. - Inexpensive Rates: When I did my research of over 5 different storage units price and provisions were the top of my list. They are the most inexpensive and provide the most. They offer a 16' diesel (gas saver) moving truck with lift gate upon moving in and water if your thirsty. Their hours are simple and safe and are located in a well established area. Cons: - Only issue I had so far was that my Credit Card wasn't set up correctly but that could have been my fault. Melissa gave me a courtesy call to let me know and left a message. So, I called back and in less than 3 min was all good. Improvements Suggestions: - There is a garbage dumpster located inside and gets full quite frequently. Other times there is a lock to keep it closed. Maybe if there was a schedule posted to the dumpster indicating specific times that the dumpster is available to use, that would be helpful. All-in-all, I would not hesitate for a second to recommend this storage facility. Staff is awesome, units are inexpensive, grounds are clean, and the area is safe. read more

I am a senior citizen and have been very disappointed with my experience at Extra Space Storage. My daughter previously rented a storage unit at this same facility for approximately four years under the same management and never experienced any payment or billing issues. However, after I rented a unit and prepaid for 12 months using a single credit card payment, I began receiving additional bills, rate increase notices, and even a lien notice before my prepaid term ended. What is even more concerning is that my account history showed multiple payments and cash refunds, even though I only made one payment for the entire 12-month period. My family contacted the facility manager, customer service, and the district manager numerous times seeking an explanation and resolution. We were repeatedly assured that the billing issues had been fixed and that the account was corrected. Despite those assurances, the problems were never fully resolved. Eventually, I was locked out of my storage unit due to an alleged unpaid balance of approximately $39, even after the district manager had confirmed that all billing issues had been addressed. In order to gain access to my belongings and move out of the facility, I felt I had no choice but to pay the balance, despite my ongoing dispute regarding the account. This entire experience caused unnecessary stress, confusion, and inconvenience. I expected accurate billing, transparency, and better customer service, especially as a senior customer. Bait and switch warning! I've had a storage unit here for about a year. My first price increase happened within the first couple months. I spoke with the local manager and she helped out to get it lowered. I was told that the rate increases only happen once or twice every couple of years... They just sent me notice of a 3rd increase! My rate has tripled and I'm moving out. The local manager seems genuine but the corporate office keeps increasing the price and I'm tired of it. SAVE YOURSELF A FUTURE HEADACHE! read more

This place needs to be investigated. They are the most unscrupulous business I've ever dealt with. My rent nearly tripled in less than a year. The first price increase was only 3 months after moving in which more than doubled my rent. They cut that a little bit after I complained but forced me to pay the increased rent for a month before they would even discuss it. They know they've got you backed into a corner and take full advantage of it. Absolutely disgusting company!!!! Btw, their current "web rate" deals are about what they were a year ago, just a small increase which is reasonable but it's 100% bait and switch!!!! read more

So, I have to say that their "first month free" promotion worked out great for us. We were in a pinch and needed a place to put our stuff while the remodel on our new house was being finished up and had to be out of our previous house by a certain date. Thank you ExtraSpace Lodi for being that blessing when we truly needed it! Note to others on the promo: first month you pay admin fees+ins. But beware if you need additional months the rate increases a lot depending on your size unit. Ours would have gone from $46 with the promo (thank you ExtraSpace) to over $350 for the second month. Thankfully we were outta there in 26 days! Another thing is the amount of homeless that rent units there and seem to "live" there is pretty bad at times, and the hallways are scary too because there's always homeless ppls stuff just sitting there-and at times it's overwhelming. read more

If i could leave negative stars i would. This place is full of scam artists. I have rented here less than three months and received a price increase of an additional $100 monthly!! I called and complained and the manager doesn't call back for shit. Finally got ahold of customer service where i was told my price would be lowered back SHE LIED! I called to complain again in which they said there was nothing more they could do i cancelled my account and my move out is scheduled next month on the 8th and they charged me now for the increased amount when the letter said it didnt take place until JULY!! Due to multiple gate issues I was unable to move out on two separate weekends. Office said they would credit my last months rent as I moved out only days into my billing cycle, and they never did. On top of that, it appears people may be living in units, and / or storing edible items. As a result my unit was over run with rodents, destroying my couch. Place has rats. Reported it to staff and they did nothing. Most of our belongings were protected but the rats did chew through some cardboard boxes and their feces were everywhere. Seen many homeless around the facility and they're camped just outside fence line on freeway. Wife never felt safe going there. I needed a safe place to store some things that I did not have room for while I was abroad. I was very happy to get the unit at first, it was right in front and close to the entrance. Little did I know there was a criminal element, and also a rodent issue. I have lost everything, the first thing I was really searching for was my Roomba, I had a place now and it needed to be vacuumed. It was just gone, nowhere to be found. So I started looking for the boxes that had the alcohol from my bar I cleaned out, they were gone to, no numbing the pain. As I searched further through things they started to disintegrate and I noticed rat feces, holes in my clothing, my children's baby blankets and chew marks on my furniture and art. They used to have dumpsters, but I couldn't even throw things away by myself I had to hire a junk removal company, the only dumpster was out in front of the business. read more

I stored my things here for 2 years It was an awful experience . There are a lot of homeless people there who live in their storage lockers. Rats everywhere! I saw it first hand . My locker got broken into last year . The office refused to share the video footage with me . They said that the police could request it . It's a very seedy place . Stay away . I purchased a storage unit at this facility through an online auction site. When I arrived the employees were very helpful. After paying my cleaning deposit they opened my unit for me I was greeted by dozens of used needles, used tampons, tons of fast food wrappers & cups, rat & mouse shit, and a electric bbq rigged to a car battery (among a HUGE mess). It was apparent that there was one or more homeless people living in the unit. Because this was clearly a dangerous/hazardous issue I requested my cleaning deposit back because I didn't think that it would be smart to clear it out. They declined saying that I bought the unit "As Is". Looking at the other yelp reviews it is clear that the homeless and rodent problems are rampant at this site. DON'T RENT FROM THEM! read more

This is the last place you want to rent storage from I have been here for over a year almost a year and a half I've always paid on time and they raised my fees from 154 a month for a 10x10 to $204 I talked to them about it and said that's not right considering that I have been here for so long and we are about to go into a huge recession with these gas prices and they want to up their rates then on top of that I leave my storage and they won't give me the remaining balance so basically I paid for an entire month and only used it a week and not only was the representative that works there so cold and callous not friendly whatsoever and definitely not empathetic but was very matter of fact and said sorry we don't refund many like that so I asked to speak to corporate manager or supervisor and she said fine I will go ahead and send the message and they'll get back to you in 48 hours so I highly suggest do not rent from extra space their corporation and they could care less about people who are faithful and loyal and honest hard workers stay away from extra space storage. read more

This is THE WORST experience with a storage unit I have ever had. When asking about pricing over the phone, I was told it would be a certain amount per month. Then when I got there, I was told that the price doesn't include the MANDATORY insurance for the unit, and in order to circumvent the cost I would have to be on a month-to-month basis. Then 2 months later, received a notice that they were increasing the price by $15/mo bc I was on month-to-month! 6 months later, another increase. It has now reached a price that is almost double the original price (in just a year!) and I can get a cheaper unit in San Francisco than in Lodi. Not to mention, the gate is often broken and my unit is inaccessible because of it. I would recommend literally ANYWHERE ELSE other than Extra Space Storage. Talk about bait and switch! read more

PEOPLE I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS STORAGE PLACE FOR YOUR PERSONAL BELONGINGS. For the third time our unit gets broken into. Always the good things (most valuable) get taken..This place has a very bad reputation. They offer insurance but that wouldn't cover all your valuables that were stolen. Coincidentally, my sister rents a unit and few days later it gets broken into and her 70 inch T.V gets stolen.. Yes there's cameras but they don't ensure full security and haven't done much to address the issue besides just say that " it happens." I went around the hall where my unit is at and it's interesting how none of the other unit's latch for the lock are burned and damaged as mine in that hall. I even scanned through and looked at the other hall before my unit and none of those latches were damaged. BUT, there's cameras on both ends of the hall... So who ever broke into our unit burned and damaged the latch and cut the lock, and went through every box CLEARLY had enough time to do so but the cameras couldn't catch anything? Sorry but Extra Space Storage DOES NOT ensure full security for your items. I went to another storage place and they have a lot of people switching to that one because they had a bad experience with this storage place. You pay to have your things stored and secure... So if they're not, What is this place ensuring ? Why are they even in business still ? People are paying money to this company just to get phone calls letting them know their units are broken into. The long: Had a need to store some things for a little while during a move and trying to drag it up flights of stairs to sit for a few weeks then back down for the move. The staff was friendly and took me around to show the facility when I went to check it out. Showed me all the bells and whistles so that I knew my items were going to be secure. The facility itself is in good shape and kept pretty clean. Can't say I have had any issues but really what are you looking for besides security. This place is infested with rats! It used to be clean and well ran. The rat issue caused me to have to loose over half of things in my unit including nice luggage and beautiful rugs. I have kept rat poison in my unit for over 2 years to no avail. After many complaints they put a rat unit in my unit-to no avail. It's so bad I have had to move out. They have continued to raise the rates with less and less service. I would not recommend to anyone. read more

Excellent customer service, great space. I loved the management staff there, super friendly and answered any questions I had about the space. The space I rented out looked neat and tidy, contract was explained to me in detail, and I love how much security they have there. Having your own code for entry, the security guards, and plus the locks makes me feel incredibly happy and comfortable with my belongings being there. read more
