I would **NEVER** recommend Robert and Muscle Hauling & Moving. We requested a quote, provided photos, and Robert agreed to a price. However, upon arrival, he immediately tried to negotiate for more money, claiming the job was "bigger than expected." The reality? He was simply unprepared, showing up with inadequate equipment and only his girlfriend to help him. Despite this, I agreed to his increased quote to get the job done. He promised to finish in 3 hours--but 7+ hours later, he was still working, clearly he was in over his head. Then, he called to say he was only 75% finished and demanded 75% payment, claiming he would return the next day to complete the job of 25% remaining. Anyone familiar with contract work knows payment isn't made until the job is complete. I told him he could return the next day, and I even offered an extra $100 as a show of good faith, and knowing with my intentions that he would not return the next day. However, it was obvious he intended to take the money and never return. When I refused to pay for unfinished work, he got angry, dumped all the tree branches back into my yard, and left two huge tire burnouts across my entire grass yard, damaging my property!! This was beyond unprofessional--it was dishonest and destructive behavior. Avoid this company at all costs. Robert, John, and their crew were exceptional. They moved us from Murphys to Oakland. They provided complete services from packing in Murphys to unpacking in Oakland. We moved from a 3000 square foot home to another one of the same size. There were beds, heavy furniture, and small and fragile items to be moved. TLDR; Unlicensed, Unprofessional & Not Recommended Moving companies that transport household goods and personal effects within California must be licensed and have a permit from the California Bureau of Household Goods and Services (BHGS). According to the BHGS website (https://bhgs.dca.ca.gov/), neither College Muscle Moving Co. or Robert Casarez are licensed. Bottom line: In moving from the Bay area to Orange County, we didn't receive all of our property. Additionally, a great many furniture items were damaged. Robbie came to our house twice ahead of our move in order to plan. We understood on move out day that he and his team would help us finish packing. When he and his crew showed up and I asked about boxes, he looked at his crew and muttered, "Ah, boxes," like they had forgotten them. Then, in conversation, he said they were not prepared to help us finish packing. Perhaps it was a miscommunication between us -- I can't tell you because Robbie didn't draft a contract for our move. So, the entire packing thing is really a "he said, she said" type of thing; I get that. What is indisputable is that despite two previous site visits, Robbie showed up with a trailer that was wholly insufficient for our needs. Robbie recognized that fact almost immediately. But, despite being just a couple of miles from a U-Haul, where I had to dash to get packing boxes, he made the decision to make what he had worked. Simply, doing so fit into his intended model. We were storing our property until we had a home to move into, and Robbie's plan was to just padlock the trailer in a storage facility. He didn't want to incur the labor costs to unpack a rental trailer and then repack another trailer later. Together, my wife and I suffered from that decision. For the rest of a very long day, Robbie and his crew played a game of Tetris in trying to get everything to fit into the trailer. Where it wouldn't fit, it was shoved, pushed, and crammed. Unlike a professional moving service, nothing was inventoried. Ordinarily, each item, be it a box or unboxed item, has a numbered sticker placed on it and a description written on an inventory sheet. At the final destination, every item taken off the truck is cross-checked with the inventory sheet. Robbie and his crew didn't do that. Back to the trailer. Robbie and his crew showed up with two trailers on move out day, both pulled by pickup trucks. One trailer was for our move. Another was for a run to the landfill. The cargo beds of both pickup trucks were used for items that weren't able to fit into the moving trailer, like an outdoor fire pit table and chairs, and another outdoor table and chairs. Somehow those items were unpacked from the pickup trucks and stored, and then later delivered to us (albeit with some damage to the fire pit table and chairs). Clearly, those items in the pickup beds were off-loaded, stored, then reloaded to relocate. During the course of our move out day, the trailer for the dump was used for items that could not fit into the primary trailer. All during the afternoon, I was interrupted by crew members who, holding up a household item, asked, "Do you want this?" Yes, I would like our property. At the end of the day, completely frustrated and exhausted from a needlessly long and tense day, I pointed to two rolling, five-shelf, stainless shelving units in the garage and told Robbie, "I love these shelves. If they don't fit on the truck, they don't fit on the truck." Those two items were placed on the landfill trailer. There, they were joined with other household items, including an end table, a wheelchair, and a folding pet pen. We were told those items would be offloaded at the storage facility before the remainder of the truck went to the landfill. We didn't see any of those property items again. On move in day, we began to recognize the damage suffered by having a trailer that was too small. Over the course of the next two weeks, while we unpacked and set up the house, we found items damaged, and in a few instances, flat-out destroyed. We complained to Robbie, and sent photographs along with those complaints. He responded with a willingness to work out something reasonable. However, after more than seven months, there wasn't any resolution. His idea of reason was to not respond. After the fact, we discovered that Robbie's business is seemingly unlicensed to do what it does in the state of California. More than that, he's simply not a professional mover. He actually received electronic payment personally, not through a business account, and perhaps even veiled from the California Franchise Tax Board. If you're looking for someone to haul away a bunch of junk to the dump, Robbie and his crew could be a good option. If you're looking to safely move your property, you'd be much better off considering alternative solutions. read more

I just want to say that Robert and Juan Carlos were on time, courteous, professional, friendly and a pleasure to work with. In just about an hour, they had the entire long side of my home cleared out. They even swept up the remnants and helped me put that in my trash bin! I try to use local vendors whenever possible. I I wrote a 1-star review of College Muscle Movers because the positive Yelp reviews do not accurately reflect how this business is actually run. I feel cheated in my dealings with College Muscle Movers because the owner Robert chooses to corners (ie, no liability coverage) to minimize his cost of doing business. The BUREAU OF HOUSEHOLD GODDS AND SERVICES opened an investigation that College Muscle Movers DOES NOT comply with regulations for a "mover for hire" to haul household goods on in State of California. I filed a complaint when Acting in good faith, I hired Robert and College Muscle Movers for $2088 for a two day move that involved one day to pack the remaining contents and another day to move everything to Modesto and unpack, That was my FIRST mistake. Robert and the crew he brought to finish the packing did correctly NOT label all if the boxes they packed, and we spent several weeks after the move still figuring out what was missing. Furthermore, I discovered household goods like lamps and kitchen appliances were broken during the move. I tried to follow up with Robert after the move about these issues, but several calls to Robert did not get any meaningful response. The BIGGEST mistake was to let Robert disassemble my queen adjustable bed because he could not put it back it correctly after the move. I didn't get any response from Robert almost a month after the move whether College Muscle would fix the broken be. I l found out that College Muscle Movers DOES NOT even possess the necessary US DOT and Carrier ID licenses required by the State of Califora for a "mover for hire" to haul household goods. The US DOT and CalifornizCarrier ID licenses include a requirement that a "mover for hire" carry liability insurance and a bond. So, I finally resorted to spending almost $1000 out of my own pocket to replace the ruined adjustable base so I could at least get a good night's rest after all the trouble that I consider Robert and his crew at College Muscle were responsible for all of the mishaps that occurred. Considering that the cost of the new adjustable base was almost 50% more than what Robert originally estimated to perform the move from from Lodi to Modesto, I could have easily saved money by just going with a professional mover like Wheaton (whom I have used for longer distance moves). read more

Highest marks for Robert and Jeronimo, who helped move several large pieces of furniture from Calaveras County to the Napa Valley this past weekend. Robert was ahead of the competition from the very beginning when he not only responded in a timely manner; he asked thoughtful questions and requested photos of the furniture. All communication was helpful, clear and courteous through text, email or on the phone. Hands down, the game changer was the good humor and cheerful attitude Robert and Jeronimo had the entire day - from start to finish. The fellas met us at 9:00am, prepared to work. They were equipped with masks, neatly folded furniture blankets and tools, and ready for the small changes that we made - adding two items in exchange for another. There was no hesitation or resistance, simply: Sure thing, we can do that! After a quick walk through the house to locate the pieces, they were off to work and under two hours they had loaded the truck carefully and strategically. Items were ratchetted down safely and securely. The unload was just as seamless. Methodical and courteous, they asked where items should be placed. In fact, they asked for a broom when they saw loose cobwebs on the underside of the dining table and left everything neater than they found it. Highly recommend! This crew came in and moved my whole house. We had mostly everything set up but as furniture was moved there were loose items here and their. This crew, without hesitation asked for a box and essentially packed some things for me to help me out. They struggled with a sentimental palm tree that had rooted through the planter in the ground. When I realized how difficult it would be for them to get it out I told them it's OK and not to worry about it. But they said if I want it they will figure it out and they did! These guys were curious polite and driven. Any issue with furniture they would find me and notify me right away. PROS I was only to have two movers but 3 guys showed up. They were amazing!!! They handled everything with care and organized it all in the truck neatly, quick and in one load. After unpacking, not one thing was damaged or broke. They even finished 30 minutes earlier then quoted. Top notch guys! CONS I was quoted a price when a gentleman came to do an on-site assessment of my property. After move was completed, it was $140 more then originally quoted. Get your quote in WRITING!
