So disappointing. Zero stars for this company but that's not an option on Yelp. No knock with the staff at this location as they have been very considerate since day one. It's just too bad the company they work for decided to send me a postcard informing me of my nearly 50% increase just 3 months in. I contacted the location to discuss this ridiculous increase and the courteous staff tried to find me a resolution which just wasn't satisfactory. Especially when you're still advertising rates that we're still lower than your resolution. Current market conditions which was their reason for the increase was not true as I was able to find multiple storage companies still at my current rate in the area. read more

At first I was skeptical of using a storage unit as I had never used one before. So I went on deployment for 6 months and needed a place to store my stuff and was very happy with the service, but now that I am back I went to go take some things out so I can live. In the last 3 weeks I've gone in the office on two separate occasions and waited 20 minutes up front. No one available, office was empty both times. I've been trying to return an unopened $16 lock that I purchased the day of move in, it wasn't needed since I already had one. I went to return the lock today and employees were finally in the office. After dealing with a rude and short customer service representative, she said it was over 30 days and I couldn't return the lock. It's obviously not about the money, it's principal. She said I should have called if I didn't see anybody at the front. I will be moving storages in the next 30 days. If you don't mind being treated with disrespect and indifference, this place is for you! read more

Had a great experience with Extra Storage. We kept our things here when we were planning to sell our house but things changed and we had to remove our things within a month of putting our stuff here. The place is very clean and safe. I first called the number and got their call center but Theresa calls back pretty quickly. The contract also states 10 days notice is required to move out and we only realized this with 9 days left. Theresa was kind enough to let it go without charging us for the month. Overall, great experience and we will definitely try them again when we sell our home and declutter. read more

She made disrespectful racial slurs at my movers that were trying to organize my storage unit for me. I have been with this facility for over 11 years and through one ownership change. I have moved on for the main reason of constant rate increases. This last one was a 20% increase for an inside 5' x 10' unit. I called the main office and inquired, since I was a long time tenant could they consider a lower rate. I spoke to Glen he said he would check and get back to me. CALLED ON 1/11 AND AS OF 1/20 NO CALL BACK FROM GLEN. Just completed a move to a same size inside storage unit; closer to my home for a $70.00 per month savings. Sad when they have no desire to keep long time customers. read more

1 star is too many. This facility is deplorable for how they treat loyal tenants. I help my mother keep her possessions here while she needs care. These items mean the world to her. She is elderly, fixed income and frail. She has spent the last 2 weeks crying. Too ill to move and too poor to afford. They are forcing her to lose the memories of her life. They keep raising her rent well over market value. Over the holidays she went from $175 to over $250! Over a 50% increase. That is over $3000 a year now. They want almost $1000 a year more. It appears they want turn over rather than consistent tenants. It is well over the cost of comparable units elsewhere. Over what they advertise for new tenants. We were warned about this company. We thought that it had to be a mistake. Their solution is to move units and get the lower advertised rate. How disrespectful and dishonest to do to struggling tenants in difficult situations. People are renting here not out of choice but necessity in very difficult situations. We were warned this company has this notorious reputation for outrageous rent increases at the expense of poor, desperate people in crisis. Please do not rent here and find yourself in our situation once you have paid movers to put things in a unit. read more

We've had numerous other storage facilities, but love this one for its cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff, particularly Theresa. In fact, we stay at this facility even though it is more expensive than others in the area because Theresa is so wonderful! She is friendly, helpful, and professional. To avoid never seeing her again, I will be changing storage locations (not with the same company) ASAP!! That is how bad my experience was with her! You DO NOT treat people that way! They have accommodated me by changes units so that I can get a more convenient one on the ground floor when it came available. I decided to look for storage space closer to home when the rates at my current storage unit went up. I found Extra Space Storage in Ladera Ranch, and so far I have been extremely impressed. Vahid and Teresa were both highly professional, competent, and personable. Vahid went above and beyond to find me the ideal space for my needs. Filling out the paperwork was quick and easy because everything is computerized. My former storage space worked out fine for me, but Extra Space Storage is several steps above--it is clean and bright and it has longer hours during which you can access your unit. I've only used the new space for about a month, but so far I am extremely impressed! read more

As a current customer of Extra Space Storage, I am extremely disappointed and disheartened that Extra Space Storage charges existing clients higher rents than new clients. I rented a small 5 foot by 5 foot unit in February 2018 for $72.00 then received notice on September 2018 that my rate was increasing $14.00 a month. (a 19.44% escalation) This may not seem like a lot but Extra Space Storage is offering a 5 foot by 7 foot unit "to only new customers" for $81.00 a month. I called to inquire if I could take advantage of that offer and that unit would cost me an existing client $116.00 a month. Absurd, if you ask me. I would exercise utilization of this facility with caution and know that your rates will increase and increase not even normal escalation rates. I will be vacating my unit this week as I refuse to do business with unethical businesses. Theresa in the office does provide great customer service, I think she could be at the mercy of "corporate". Extremely unfortunate and avoidable situation. read more

I just hate when they raise prices and you really can't do anything about it. I have only been there 4 months and they are already raising the rate nearly 12%. They send a post card saying that 'per your rental agreement'. I went and read the agreement and the only reference to anything is that they have to give you 30 days notice to change the terms of the agreement. They are intentionally not specific. So, they can raise anything anytime as long as they let you know 30 days in advance. Problem is, I am stuck for a while. Just ticks me off. Will get out of there as quickly as I can. read more

I've been here a year and they've doubled the price on my storage unit. I'm paying about $36 less than a storage unit on the same property twice my size. Called customer services guy who tried to give me a economics lesson on supply and demand. Then tried to say that they couldn't give me my old price back or a comparable price back because I'm supposedly paying below market value. Even though the price of a storage unit, for a new customer, is still $46 less than what I'm paying. They don't have a yearly option were they let you pay less per month. And I've never received one letter about the price raise. I've been to at least 10 other storage units with price raises and it usually happens yearly not on a monthly basis. There is a difference between a $8 price jump for a year and the $14 price jump on a month. This is theft. Find another storage company and avoid this one like the plague unless you plan on using it only a couple months. The customer service guy says the online price they offer is good for 5 months, not even half a year. So you've been warned. read more
