I rented a 10x25 and a 10x30 storage unit here about 3-4 years ago. The rates were reasonable when I signed up, although I was still paying close to $900 per month for both units. I never missed or was late on a single payment, yet my rates were increased over and over again. Eventually, I was able to consolidate everything into just the 10x25 unit. Instead of seeing any savings, the monthly rent had climbed to an unbelievable $752 per month--nearly double what I was originally paying for that unit. When I called to speak with the manager, the response was essentially, "Too bad." The only offer was a token $50 per month discount. Over the years, I paid this company well over $20,000 and more than $6,000 per year as a loyal customer. Despite my perfect payment history and long-term business, they refused to work with me on the price. I finally moved out and found a 10x20 unit elsewhere for $340 per month--less than half of what they were charging me. If you only need storage for a short time, this place may be fine. But if you're planning to rent long-term, be prepared for continual rate increases. Loyalty means nothing here, and eventually you'll likely be paying far more than the market rate. read more

Don't fall for their bait and switch. Needed a rental in February when my roommate put me in the position of having to end my lease suddenly. Shopped all around the Irvine area for the best deal because Im low income and don't have the funds in my budget. Found this place advertised with a great rate, 121 per mo was what i signed up for. Well four months later and my rent is increasing over $100 to $226 starting first week of June. They don't even have the decency to email you about it, just send you a shitty little postcard. I don't have the money to move everything out of this location to another, so now Im fucked and will probably have to just start selling my belongings. 0/10 would not recommend to anyone ever. This is my first experience with Extra Space Storage and I can't say enough good things about them. On the day of my move when I was moving from one house to another in the same city, I found out there was a problem at the new house and we were not able to unload our furniture. This was on a Saturday within two hours of arriving at the new house with a truckload of furniture. I had never used a storage facility in this city prior to this incident and was feverishly checking on my mobile phone for a facility closest to my new house. The phone popped up many and it was hard to figure out which to go with in terms of distance, rate and reviews so out of desperation I went with Extra Space Storage which had an address close to my new house that I recognized. They were truly a God-sent. The first person I spoke to was so helpful when I explained my requirements which included needing multiple large storage units within proximity of each other, able for moving truck to drive right up to and unload and hopefully a fair rate and without a long-term commitment as I didn't know how long I would need the units for. The young man I spoke to immediately jumped into action and found me 3 units of 10' x 15' each in close proximity so our moving truck could unload all our furnishings without having to hunt down each unit. I know this was just lucky based on their available inventory. Not only did the young man who helped me who was out of AZ but was able to quickly set me up with three units but also informed me that there was a "first month's free special" that will be honored even if I don't rent beyond the first month; truly incredible. Even though the registration and payment of these units can be done online without requiring a visit to their facility's office, I wanted to make sure I check in with the people at the office since I've never used their service before and had only used one other storage service in another city years ago, I wanted to make sure that I knew how to enter and access each unit correctly before their office closed for the rest of the weekend since I would be bringing a huge moving van into their facility. This was at 4 pm on a Saturday and their office closes at 5:30 pm and is not open on Sunday. So my husband and I rushed to their office and our GPS guided us to the back of their facility with no office in site. When I called their facility's office, the assistant manager, Linda, was so sweet that she asked where we were, what car we were driving and immediately drove up in her golf cart to meet us and showed us where our units will be and how to access each unit which was a very simple process. Afterwards I got to visit with both Linda and their manager, Thomas, who was also phenomenal too. Just great people who excelled at making feel customers valued. Definitely 5 stars. I would not hesitate to recommend them or may very likely used them again. read more

Convenient, clean and safe location right off the freeway. Well secured and Josh at the front desk was awesome did a great job very helpful. They do not tell you however that theres required insurance on the units which increases price at least $21 minimum per month. The internet rate is also promotional and goes away after a while. read more

I had this unit for about 19 months. They didn't notify me when they raised my cost about 30%. I was moving all my stuff out so I called and told them my last day would be Tuesday. They charged me a partial month (which was perfect) but then the guy forgot to take off the automatic billing so I was dinged for over $400 and I didn't transfer money to that account so it was overdrawn. I informed Thomas at the front desk of the mistake and he reversed the $400 but would not do anything about the $35 over draft fee. He said I could take $35 worth of bubble wrap or locks but I didn't want not need that. He just said there was nothing else they would do. So they screwed up and I'm left eating the $35. Due to covid 19 many people lost their homes and businesses and many lives changed . Many responsible businesses had the curtesy and understanding of taking it a little easier on their customers to help them go through this rough time , but not these guys. As many know lots of companies including this one received big grants and loans from local and federal governments to help their business run and to help their customers happy . instead this company raised their rates several times in one year and last time even by $100 which it is very unusual amongst this industry. therefor , a unit with $150 monthly rate had gone up to $298 in one year . Please don't get fooled by their advertisements and lies . they show you one price but as soon as you get situated and moved in to the unit they keep raising their prices and will leave you with either a higher rent or a huge expense of moving in to another facilities . read more

I just had a horrible experience with an Extra Space employee. I am moving out as a result of many price increases, the most recent being $77.00 more per month. My unit is on the second floor so I need to access the elevator. The call button hasn't been working for the past few days so today I contacted the office. I was greeted by a rude, condescending employee. He begins by rudely telling me how to access the elevator which I have done countless times in the past and many times in the past few days. I demonstrated how I access it, it doesn't work. I say, see..it doesn't work. He tells me, no...it works perfectly. But, it isn't working, the call button isn't working. He proceeds to tell me he doesn't care about me or the elevator button. This is just another reason to STAY AWAY FROM EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. read more
